>Day WHY IS THE SUN SO BRIGHT >You grunt, slowly opening your eyes. >You loved your little house, and all its quirks, but your window was faced at *just* the right angle to be woken up at practically the break of day. >You sigh, and set upon the task of waking up, briefly pondering on what day it was. >WUMP >...Looks like it's Monday. >You stand up, and throw the blanket that came off the bed with you back to where it belonged. >You walk over to the calendar, and note what day it is. >It appears that you were right, it IS Monday. >You shrug to yourself, and begin to walk down the stairs, formulating what you have to do today. >Mentally running through the day of events to do, you figure that the most important was work. >Being that you lived on a farm, you always had to wake up early, which may be an explanation for your window's position. >You remember when you used to work on Applejack's farm. >It was fun and all, and Granny Smith's cooking was to die for, but one can only take so many apples. >Breakfast? Apples. >Work? Kicking apple trees. >Lunch? More apples. >Work in town? Selling apples. >Dinner? Oh gee, I wonder what it could- more apples. >Still though, it was enjoyable, and it allowed you to save up enough bits for this house that you currently inhabit. >Just a small bit of land, with a nice rustic house. >There was a good amount of room for a garden, and the vegetables you didn't eat could easily be sold in town. >You miss meat, you really do. >But the ponies didn't really like that sort of thing, so beans would have to work. >You shrug, and realize that you've been standing and admiring your plot of land for a whole 10 minutes, just holding a cup of coffee. >... >You drain the cup of coffee, and wash it out briefly in the sink. >You walk outside, and grab your tools for garden upkeep. >Which, while not much, does the job perfectly. >You walk over to your decently sized garden, and don your gloves. >Right, first up. >Weeding. >You hate it because the invasive species are constantly moving in. >You can't recall a day where you didn't have to weed. >And with a sigh, you set about working on your garden. [Later] >You stand up, wiping your brow. >Your garden is almost fully...gardened? >You scratch your head, thinking about if that was an appropriate adjective, before looking at the sun. >Being that the ponies are technologically impaired, you had to run off of what position the sun is in. >You estimate that it's about eleven o'clock. >Just in time for... >You hear a slight gust of air go by you, knocking off your hat, and then the tell-tale clip-clop of hooves landing on the ground. >"'Sup, Anon?" >She never fails. >She always arrives at the same time, you've come to notice. "Nothing much, just taking care of my garden." >You say, as you pick up your hat, brushing the dirt off of it, then place it on your head. >You take the hoe that was laying nearby, and start attacking a root from one of the Everfree's trees. >They grow very fast, so you have to take them out quickly. >"So..are you alright after..her?" >You grunt, remembering the mare that you were recently dating. >Her name was Carrot Top. >Now, while you would've berated yourself on Earth for even THINKING about being in a relationship with a species that seemed like an animal to you, it quickly faded when you came to Equestria. >Realizing that there was almost no chance of you getting back to Earth, and also that the ponies were far from dumb animals, you decided to try a relationship. >And for a time, it went well. >You were happy with her, and she with you. >But, eventually, it came to an end. >You remember that she came up to you one day, saying something about 'the spark was gone', or something akin to that. >Sometimes, you wondered why it ended. >You feel a hoof tapping on your head. >"Uhh, Anon? You there?" >You shake yourself out of it. >No reason to get depressed. >You turn to the mare that had been trying to get your attention. >Her name is Rainbow Dash, your first, and best, friend in Equestria. >In fact, because you were such good friends, you became bros. >Rainbow Dash became your Rainbro. >You still chuckle at the pun sometimes. "Yeah, I'm alright Bluefast." >You chuckle as you see her pout angrily at you. >Being that she was Cyan colored, and had a penchant for high speeds, it was a eventuality that you would make that name up. >"I told you not to call me that." >You take a moment to throw the small bit of root away from your garden, and then turn to her. "Then stop doing that cute pout when I do." >She sputters for a second, and you swear you see a blush, but it quickly fades. >"Yeah, w-well..shut up... Peach-hands!" >You quirk an eyebrow. >You assume that it was her way of generalizing you by a couple of your qualities. >Very weak, considering she used to have such good jabs at you. >You shrug internally, and begin picking up your tools to put away in your shed. >While you're walking, you hear her trotting alongside you. >It's strange, she used to use her wings for everything she did, but when she was with you, she seemed to disregard them. >Not that you minded, she used to outpace you so much when she flew next to you. >"So, you wanna do something later today? I've got work off...and you really don't have work.." >You pause, opening the door to your toolshed. "Hmm..." >You begin to put up your tools, and mull over the proposition. >...Why not? >You haven't been into town in a while, might be nice if you went. "You know what? Why not." >She brightens almost visibly. >You motion for her to follow, and walk towards the back of your house. >"So... I was thinking that we could maybe go and get something to eat, and I could show you this place I found that nopony knows about and then maybe we could even-" >By this time, you've started to take off your shirt. >Being that it was summer, the dead heat had come into play, much to your chagrin. >After placing it next to your washboard, you turn to her, noting her sudden silence. >You note that her wings were extended, as if she was about to take flight. "Er..Rainbow, do you have to go somewhere? I don't wanna keep you if you do..." >She shakes her head, and cuts you off. >"NO! I mean, uh...No, I don't have to go anywhere!" >She then turns to her wings, and mutters almost inaudibly. >"...stupid wings, go down already." >You shrug, opening the backdoor of the house, and walking into it. "Well, I'm up for it, but where are we going?" >She shakes her head, and looks up to you. >"Well... I was thinking about going to this new restaurant that Pinkie told me about..." >You shiver internally. >That pink devil is why you moved out of town. >It wasn't that she was mean, or anything. >It was that she threw SO MANY PARTIES. >A man can only take so much... >"...and at the end of the night we could..." >She trails off, a blush lighting her face. >You realize that you didn't pay attention to her, and try to cover for it. "Alright then, bro. See ya then!" >She pauses, then responds, before turning away slowly. >"Yeah, heh. See you then....bro." >You can't help but note that she appears miffed, but you just chalk it up to you seeing things. >...Now you have to get ready. >And here you were thinking that you could just laze the day away. >Still, it isn't that bad. >You look yourself over for a second. >..Looks like you need to take a shower... >After taking a shower, then putting some clean clothes on, you feel ready to take on the world! >..Not really, but you are ready for a night on the town. >You rummage through some of your drawers, and find a bag of 50 bits. >Perfect. >You start to walk around the house, and decide to check the time. >Which entails you looking at the sun. >You look through one of your windows, and note that it's almost sunset. >Looks like Dash wants to stay out late tonight. >You hear knocking at the door. >Ah, looks like Dash is here. >You walk over, and open the door. >... >Well, that's new. >You see your bro, but unlike you've ever seen her before. >Her mane is all done up, and she has a nice dress on, that accents her form. >It accents it VERY well. >She notices your gazing over her form, and smiles demurely. >"Heh, nice to see you too, Anon." >You shake yourself out of it, and collect yourself. "You look nice too, Dash." >She smiles gently at your compliment. >"Th-Thanks." >You walk out of your house, locking the door, and place the key in your pocket, and start walking towards town. >The two of you walk in companionable silence for a while, before you decide to start talking. "So, what's with the dress?" >She shifts her wings for a moment, before turning her head to look at you. >"I thought that I would dress nice for a change..." >You shrug, seeing that she had a point. >She mumbles something out, far too quiet for you to hear. "..for you..." >You look over to her. "Uh..what did you just say Dash? I couldn't quite catch that." >She shakes her head. >"I... I was talking to myself. Don't worry about it." >You shrug, deciding not to press for info. >You two eventually reach the town, and she guides you towards the restaurant. >You stop in front of it, and your jaw was agape at it. "Wow Dash, I didn't think that you would want to go to THIS place." >You turn to your bro, who is smiling sheepishly. >"Y-Yeah, I've always wanted to go to this restaurant, but never had the time." >You feel that she's hiding something, but once again, decide not to press for information. "Well, I've always want to go here too." >She smiles once again. >You don't know what it is, but you really like that cute smile of hers. >... >Where did that come from? >"Well, let's go in, huh?" >You nod, and follow her to the front of the restaurant. >The two of you approach the waiterpony, and he looks the both of you over. >He speaks up in a very dry and bored sounding voice. "Welcome to The Golden Harvest. Do you have a reservation...Miss Dash?" >Your eyes widen a bit, and look towards Dash, who speaks up. >"Yes, we have a reservation for the window seat over there." >He nods, looks the list over, then motions for a waitress to lead you towards your seats. >She leads you to the table, and you sit down, Dash sitting opposite from your seat, and hoofs you two your menus. >"Just tell me when you two are ready to order." >Rainbow nods, and starts to look over her menu. >You pick up your own, and then start to peruse it. >... >Your eyebrows raise at the prices. >30 bits for a Sweetgrass Sandwich? >Jesus Christ, that's alot! >You look over to Rainbow, who's expression mirrors your own. >You turn to the waitresspony. "I'll...I'll have the Vegetarian stew." >Why they have to clarify that in the menu, you'll never know. >Dash clears her throat, and speaks up. >"I'll have....I'll have what he's having." >The mare nods, and finishes writing down on the notepad. >"Anything to drink?" >You go to the menu to look through it, but Dash beats you to the punch. >"We'll have the Canterlot Vintage, please." >The mare writes it down, and then trots off. >You look over the menu, and if you had been drinking something, it would've been all over the table. >You look towards Dash, and hush your voice. "Dash, that wine costs 70 bits! Don't you think that's a bit excessive?" >She shrugs, and smiles sheepishly. >"Yeah...but I figured that tonight could be a little special..." >You sigh. "You didn't have to spend that much..." >She reaches over a hoof, and places it on your hand. >"Listen, I wanted this to be nice. I don't mind spending some more bits than usual. I've got more than enough. Trust me." >You squeeze her hoof, and a small blush appears on her face as you do so. >You find yourself staring into her eyes. >You never really looked her in the eyes, but you don't know why you never did so before. >They're really beautiful... >The blush on her face intensifies, and it looks like she's leaning in for something. >You begin to match her movements... >Suddenly, waitress. >Both of you shoot back to your seats, and your face feels warm. >Dash, however, is glowing so bright the sun would be jealous. >The mare smiles, and places the dishes onto your table. >"Here's the food for the happy couple!" >She trots off, leaving you and Rainbow spluttering. >You recover first, and look to Rainbow. "Heh, I can't believe she thought we were a couple, huh bro?" >She shrinks a bit, but shrugs it off. >"Y-Yeah...Let's eat.." >You quirk an eyebrow, but decide not to ask her about it. >The meal passes, with the two of you trying and failing to make conversation. >Eventually, you two finish your respective meals, and wave for the bill. >Dash reaches for it, but your hands are quicker. >You stare at the bill for a second. >The reservation for this seat alone... >She snatches it out of your hand, and takes out the bits from her pouch. >You walk out of the restaurant with her, and note that it's night, with the moon beginning it's arc through the sky. >You smile then turn to Dash. "Thanks, Dash. I had fun tonight." >She matches your smile with her own, but looks away with a slight blush. >"N-no problem, Anon." >The two of you stand there, a gentle breeze flowing, causing Dash's dress to flutter in the wind. >You can't help but take in every detail of her. >Her mane, her dress, her eyes, even her wings seem perfect to you. >She catches your staring, and looks away, pawing at the ground nervously with a hoof. >You clear your throat, averting your gaze. "Well, this was fun, but I need to go home, and get some sleep." >"Yeah..I do too..." >You start to turn around. "I really enjoyed this. Maybe sometime else we can go out...as friends, I mean." >The small bit you tacked on caused her to cringe. "Well...see you tomorrow, bro." >She remains silent, as you finish turning around, walking towards your home. >... >"Wait." >You stop, then turn around to meet her. >She has used her wings to languidly glide over to you, and she drops to her hooves in front of you. >"I...I mentioned before that there was this place I found...could..could I show it to you? Please?" >She has this hopeful look on her face, one that you know if you say no to, it'll really hurt her. "...Sure, Dash." >You didn't really want to say goodbye to her anyway... >She takes your hand with a wing, and leads you towards the park, dropping it as you arrive. >You walk for some time in companionable silence, when all of a sudden, she veers off the path, and starts running through the trees. "Dash? Where are you going!" >You give chase, wondering why she's doing this. >You are slightly confused, because if she really wanted to run away, why wouldn't she use her wings? >But this thought is swept aside as you are too far involved in the chase to care. >Eventually, you lose track of her, going only by sound. >You think you see a clearing up ahead, and it proves to be true, as you burst out through the undergrowth. >You take a second to catch your breath, and notice Dash is sitting there. >Still panting, you prepare to berate Dash for doing that to you. "Dash, what the hell was that? Why did you just run off like-" >She places a hoof on your mouth, silencing you. >"Look..." >She waves her wing at the surrounding area. >You decide to drop what you were saying. >Mostly because your jaw has dropped at what she has shared with you. >You are currently standing before a lake, which surface is so clear and flat, it acts as if it were a large mirror. >You can see the reflection of the moon, which you now note as full, and the muted dots of light that are the stars surrounding it. >You drag your gaze towards Rainbow, and if your jaw had dropped earlier, by now it has fallen straight off. >The soft, white light of the moon traces her outline, accentuating her already brilliant features. >You forget to breathe, you are so caught up in basking in her beauty. >And they say Rarity is stunning... >She clears her throat, and you catch your breath, resulting in more panting. >She looks around at the area, before turning to you. >"Do....you like it?" >You smile gently. "Dash, this is the single most beautiful sight I've ever seen." >She smiles bashfully, and puffs out her chest in pride. >You aren't sure if you're talking about the lake or her. >But something is off about this. "Dash...why are you doing this?" >She cocks her head quizzically. >"What do you mean, Anon?" >You sigh, before starting to talk. "It just seems like you're hiding something from me. The restaurant having a reservation, it costing an astronomical amount, you blushing at every compliment I paid you..." >She looks around, unable to meet your gaze. "...it just seems like something's up. What's wrong Dash?" >She sighs. >"...Am I that easy to read? >You nod, confirming the fact. >She sighs again, before looking straight at you. >"I...I like you Anon, and not in the...not in the way we are now..." >You quirk an eyebrow, and open your mouth to speak, but she silences you with a hoof again. >"Please..Just listen to what I have to say first.." >She removes her hoof, and you stay silent. >She takes a deep breath to compose herself, then resumes talking. >"I used to like what we had. We were Anon and Dash, the two inseperable bros, you know? We pranked a lot of ponies, and no matter what, no matter how in-depth you got with one, you just got more imaginative. Whenever I asked you to watch me do some stunts and critique them, you never told me what I wanted to hear. Which was good, because I flew better, and better, and.." >She runs out of breath mid-sentence, and composes herself. >"You know how I constantly asked you to come and watch me do tricks?" >You think for a moment... >And can't remember a time where she wasn't asking you to come and watch her. >So you nod. >She takes a shakey breath, and continues on. >"Eventually, there came a point where I wondered why I was asking you to come and watch. I had pretty much ironed out every singular detail for my tricks, so I didn't need you to watch anymore. Then...I realized..I wanted you to watch me, and not for the tricks, either. I wanted you to be around, because..I liked having you around. I really did." >She paces around, trying to force the words to come out. "I thought long and hard on how I felt about you...and although I never really wanted to get into a relationship...I thought about one with you..And I couldn't stop thinking about it. All I could think about was how incredibly awesome you were, and..I was about to ask you out..but then.." >She kicks a rock nearby, not mentioning the mare's name. >Carrot Top. >The mare that you had been in a relationship for about 4 months. >It started off nice, but eventually the spark faded. >You parted on good terms, but it still stung from time to time. >It had been 2 weeks since then. >She gulps in a breath of air, and composes herself yet again. >"When you started dating her...I won't lie, I was jealous. I was angry at her...and at myself. I wished that she wouldn't have asked you out, and that I would've had the guts to actually act on my feelings." >You're shocked at her outburst, but are allowing her to finish. >"I wanted her to just...go away, and let me be with you. And when she left you, and you were hurt that bad by her, I...I felt bad for you, but I also felt...happy." >You look at her in surprise, but remain silent. >"I..I felt happy because I could finally be with you! But..I couldn't get the courage up...All I had to do was ask you if you wanted to be...you know, a couple...but I just couldn't get the words out! I just locked up, and couldn't speak..." >She gazes into the distance. >"But I said to myself that today would be different! That today I would tell Anon how I felt..." >She sighs, and deflates visibly. >"When I asked you if you wanted to do something today, I was trying to ask you if I could be your marefriend. I was screaming at myself to just say those few words...But I was scared. I didn't want you to say no..." >She looks away. >"So I tried to hide it, as if we were two friends just enjoying a meal together. But no matter what I did, I couldn't suppress the feelings I had. So I tried to do something, anything that would let you know how I felt...And I got so close...but then that dumb waitress showed up and ruined it..." >She gazes down at her hooves. >"I told myself today that I would tell you how I felt...And I almost didn't do that. I just barely caught myself as you were leaving. I couldn't just let you leave without knowing..." >You see a small drop of quicksilver fall from her face, but she wipes it away, and then looks at you again. >Her eyes are misty, you note. >She takes another shaky breath, and tries to force herself to speak. >"I know you only see me as a friend...but I just can't help but hope about us being more than bros..." >She sniffs, and looks away, wiping her eyes once more. >"So...if you don't want to be friends because of how awkward it is...I'd understand. I wouldn't wanna hurt you...bro." >Your mind is in a torrent of feelings. >You don't want to lose a friend... >But you don't think you're ready for another relationship... >Are you? >You search your feelings, and shock yourself with what you find. >You realize that one of the reasons you broke up with Carrot Top is because she was missing something. >She was a beautiful mare, no doubt about it. >But there was something that you just needed to feel. >She was your marefriend...but she wasn't your friend. >Dash is your friend. >She had many conflicting interests, and she didn't even share your sense of humor. >Dash likes what you like, and has practically a carbon copy of your humor. >She often gave up chances to be with you to further her own goals. >Dash would never abandon you for her own purposes. >You needed something from Carrot... >You needed her to be loyal. >You step back from your journey through your feelings, and notice that Dash's state has deteriorated even more. >She is sitting there, shoulders slumped, sobbing heavily. >It breaks your heart to know that you're breaking hers. >You know what you have to do. >You approach Dash, and her ears twitch and point in your direction. >"A-Anon, I thought you had-" >No words. >Only actions. >You tilt up her chin, and pull her into a deep kiss. >She pulls back briefly in shock, eyes opening wide. >You disregard that, and deepen it further. >Eventually, her eyes flutter closed, and she moves in to respond to the kiss, giving off little cute and happy sighs. >Eventually, you have to breathe, so you pull away from the kiss, slowly opening her eyes. >"A-Anon, I-" >You silence her with a finger on her lips. "What you just said there...I can't just let you be lonely like that. I just searched through my mind and my feelings...and I realized why I allowed Carrot to just leave." >You take a deep breath, noticing her eyes, full of hope. "I let her go...because she was missing...something. She..." >You gulp in some air, suddenly out of breath. "..She wasn't you." >She freezes, just staring at you. >You can't tell what she's feeling right now. >You hope you weren't too corny... >You tap her on her forehead. "Uhh...Dash?" >She remains frozen in place, just staring at you in shock. >And then she reacts. >You find yourself planted on your back, with a brand new facehugger attachted to you. >She makes all sorts of happy sounds while continuing to kiss you. >She breaks the kiss eventually, and looks expectantly at you, before speaking up. >"So....are we marefriend and coltfriend now?" >You chuckle. "Yeah, I would assume so." >She steps off of you, letting you stand up. >You stand up, and brush yourself off. >She flies behind you, and rests herself on your back. >You raise an eyebrow at this, but don't mind it. >In fact, you're grateful for the warmth she gives you. >You begin to walk back to your little house on its little plot of land. >... >"Anon, your house is that way." >... "...Fuck." >She giggles, and you redirect yourself towards your homestead. >Upon reaching it, you detach her from your back, and open the door. >You step in, and turn around. "Well Dash, tonight was...better than either of us could have expected. When do you wanna do this again?" >She smiles gently, and shrugs her wings. >"Whenever you feel like it." >You chuckle, and scratch the back of your neck. "Yeah, but next time, you don't have to spend a small fortune on me." >She smiles sheepishly, and rubs the back of her neck. >"I kind of overdid it, didn't I?" >You laugh, and then respond. "Yeah, I think you did." >She continues to smile, kicking a hoof on your doorstep. "Well, goodnight Dash, see you tomorrow." >You start to close the door... >...and she sticks a hoof in it, not letting it stop. >She looks up at you, before looking away. >"I...I was hoping that I could stay the night at your house tonight." >You tap your chin, acting as if you were deep in thought. >Really, you were wondering why she hadn't said it earlier. "Sure, Dash. C'mon in." >You open the door, and she trots in, with a large smile on her face. >You lead her to your room, and let her in the room. >She immidiately begins to take off the dress, and you decide that it would be wise for you to undress, also. >You start taking off your shirt and pants, and throwing them in the dirty pile. >You hear a *pomf* sound, and turn to see Dash staring at you with extended wings. >Wait... >Before, she wasn't ready to get going... >She was turned on. >You mull it over in your mind, and decide to just drop it, walking over to your bed. >She fidgets awkwardly, before nervously speaking up. >"W-What are we gonna do on the bed, Anon?" >You quirk an eyebrow, and calmly respond. "Sleep on it, of course." >She stares at you for a second, then realizes what you just said. >She then hops up on the bed under the covers, and wriggles up close to you. >She sighs happily, and rests her head on your shoulder. >She mumbles out before she falls asleep. >"...thanks, Anon." >You smile, and squeeze her slightly, drifting off in each others embrace.
