>It was Sunday, you could barely open your eyes but saw it was morning already, as the light from the sunshine was hitting your bedroom. >You somehow felt unbelievably unrefreshing, you were wrapped up as comfortably as possible, but for some reason, it felt as though you were in a nightmare. >What happened last night? That is what your mind was wondering, more than anything. >You yawn and stand up from your bed, but for some reason, your hind legs felt heavy as if they were carrying bricks or rooted to the ground. You fall straight to the floor. "What gives? Did I sleep on the floor by accident again?" >It was then that you noticed your voice was raspy. >A little hoarse, you could say. >You chuckle a bit from your pun and try standing up again. >Little by little, you regained your strength, or what little you had in your unicorn body. "I don't recall anything from last night... only... mom's note about being late that night." >Perhaps she knows something about your whereabouts. >Or it was probably just your imagination. >You stare at the window of your bedroom, the wind is slightly moving your curtains. The sky was clear. >As you noticed it was already past 11:30, you shut the window and go out of your bedroom to look up at your mother. >You searched for the house, but no one was in. >You find a note on the fridge, the calligraphy from your mother saying "I went to the market to buy something for the week. Please eat something if it takes too long. Love ya!" >You're used to Colgate leaving for periods, she has nothing to worry about since you usually don't leave your house as you study and burn books down each day. "I wonder if Snake is okay, I do remember he ate a lot of Honey Drop's food and had a stomachache. Hopefully, he is at home." >And hopefully he doesn't make fun of your raspy voice. >You take the house's phone and dial Snake Eyes' house number. >The phone starts ringing. >It didn't take long for him to answer. >"Hello?" "Oh, hey buddy, it's me Anon." >"Hey, how's it going?" >The sound from the call was static, Snake Eyes' voice sounded a bit distorted. Maybe he wouldn't notice your raspy voice if the call was like this from both ends. "Well... I barely remember ANYTHING that happened yesterday! Hah! Do you have a clue what I did before going home?" >"..." There was silence before you heard an answer. "If you want me to apologize again, I am sorry, Anon. There, I said it. Are you happy?" >Huh? "What do you mean by that?" >"Pff, don't play dumb now. You were angry. I said something to your fillyfriend and... well, you made me realize what I did was wrong. But I'm not saying sorry again! One apology is enough, you won't be hearing more from me." >Apologize? You, angry? How? >You usually don't get angry at Snake Eyes, despite his dumb personality, that is something you got used to as time passed! >All this conversation was making you have more questions than before. "But buddy, she's not..." >"Your fillyfriend, sure. You keep saying that but I caught you two hugging like a pair yesterday..." >You hugged Honey Drop? >...You could remember that now, it was coming to you. She challenged you and you lost, she only wanted a hug as a reward for the poker game. >How come you only remember... some memories from yesterday that were only with Honey Drop? "Okay, I do remember that... but besides! A little fight between me and you is nothing, right? Buddy?" >"Just don't bring this conversation or what happened yesterday to school, it's fine, Anon. Let's pretend we only played games. Just don't get angry, again." >The noise from the reception of the call was so bad, Snake Eyes' voice stuttered twice in the conversation. "I see..." >...Why isn't Snake Eyes calling you dude, like he always does? "Buddy, say, is everything alright? >"Yes. I recovered from my stomachache if that's what you're asking." >You don't want to directly ask him why he isn't calling you your usual "Dude" words, maybe if you use your bro codeword... "Say, what do you think of making one hundred friends, Snake?" >"..." There was silence in the line. After a few seconds, the static voice from Snake Eyes answers. "Fine by me." >You stay quiet for a few seconds, then you answer. "...Who are you?" >The phone call ends. "Was that... really... Snake?" >Right when you meet Snake Eyes, you two eventually become best friends. You clearly remember how he asked you: what if they made more friends around the school? We were the only friends we had for each other. >You told him that one best friend is worth more than a hundred. >That became your codeword and how you became best friends since then. Sometimes you bring that up and he answers as clear as day, but this call... "...Maybe he didn't hear me? There was a lot of... noise in the call and my voice sounds weird." You hang the phone. "Maybe I should ask him tomorrow at school." >After all, he did ask you to not say a thing from yesterday, but nothing about asking him about this phone call. >The house was silent, as there was nopony but you. >You go to the window of your house and see the usual crowd of ponies going through their needs on a busy Sunday in Canterlot. What hits you odd is that a certain stalker hasn't been around here at all. "Why do I even wanna see her around? I finally have some spare time for myself." >You shrug it off and go to your bedroom, leaving the door of your room open in case either your mom or dad comes back. >Hours pass and there is no sight of your mom or dad yet, the phone is quiet and the only sound there was in the house was your writing as you study through the day. >Other colts of your age could be playing outside and whatnot, but you are a bookworm when it comes to studies and grades. All this will enlighten your future, learning each day has its pros. >You close your book and stretch your body a bit on your bed. "Hnng… I need a break." >You take a peek at the clock, it was 3 o'clock. You had already finished your homework up to Friday but wanted to check if everything was in order and write some more so the teacher gave you extra points. "My old self probably would be pointing at me, saying how this is why I only have Snake Eyes as best buddy." You laugh. "Besides my unknown whereabouts from tonight and that phone call with Snake, everything has been so quiet and normal." >You wished these days were regularly more appealing, but something was off. >Something... you can't quite recall. "Oh yeah, maybe my diary has something from yesterday night? I will never forget to write a page down." >As you check your shelf, you notice how your diary is two spots away from where you usually put it. "Did my mom move it?" >You grab your diary with the aid of your magic. As you are levitating it, you notice a page falling from your diary. "Huh?" >You pick the page, it had notes from months ago. "Why did it... fall." >As you were opening your diary, you were shocked by the realization of your diary's missing pages as you went through each day you have written so far in Equestria. "Wait... what is this? Why? Where did-" >You check your diary again, as if the pages, out of magic, would appear from where they were missing. >You were in denial as to how many pages were gone from your diary. >You check the last entry from your journal, "maybe something written in that would answer why I have missing pages!" You thought. >The entry from yesterday's Saturday night was... crude. >And what's odd is how bold the word angry was written. "Is this my... writing? I... don't remember." You continue reading. "...Dumplings? Did honey made me dumplings? I... barely remember." You keep reading. "Front door open? This is..." >A contradiction. >"I forgot to close the front door, hope my mom doesn't find out!" >Why would I write something like this? You remember the note from last night that your mom was getting late, there was no reason to leave the front door open. Or what this probably meant is that you didn't lock it... >And the missing pages, where would they be? "...THE PAGES! W-WHAT WAS WRITTEN ON THEM?!" >You have no idea what pages from your diary were missing, but what if somepony entered your room and stole them? "Okay Anon, calm down... I don't need to be a genius to know the truth. There are... probably 3 possibilities." You begin walking in circles around your bedroom as your thoughts proceed to examine the situation. "Either I forgot entirely, which is unlikely, or somepony stole my pages and knocked me down so badly that I forgot about it, or... mom or dad are playing a prank on me." >You try examining your diary, looking for any possible clues that could help you understand the situation you were in. "Perhaps the second option, that entry of... the front door, it's just so odd. Sadly, that's the only clue I have, that is until mom decides to come back from the market." You close your diary and head outside your bedroom. "What is taking her so long, anyway?" >As you step outside your room, you hear a keychain in the distance, the front door slowly opens and Colgate steps in. "Oh what a coincidence, I was talking about you taking so long! Hi mom!" >Even if that experience with the diary was... shocking, seeing your mom calms your heart. >"Hello sweetie, the market was really busy today. I'll make you something to eat since it's past 3 and I just know you were studying and didn't eat a single bite from anything in the kitchen. Didn't Cha?" >...Oh horseapples, she was right. "I may... have studied for 3 hours and forgot to eat, heh..." >Colgate leaves the groceries at the table and giggles, she pets your mane and messes with it a bit. >"What I am going to do with you? I like that you study so much! But don't forget that, if I get late, you could go for a quick meal." She starts pulling the stuff she bought from the bags. "Tell you what, I'm going to make hayburgers for today, what do you say? You like that?" "Oh, hayburgers! Yes, yes, yes! Please do!" >Your tail was waving from left to right, your stomach knew what it wanted. >"Alright. Help me out and we'll make them fast." "Yes, mom!" >...Oh fiddlesticks, you nearly forgot to ask her about tonight. "Uh, mom?" >"Hmm? What is it?" "So, uh... what happened yesterday night when you returned? I don't remember much." >"You studied all-nighter and don't remember a thing?" She laughs. "You were drooling on a book right on the floor of your bedroom when I arrived, I think it was your diary? I didn't peek if that's what you're asking!" >Okay, that clears one question. Your mom was the one who placed the diary in the wrong spot. "...Was the front door open?" >"The front door? Why would it be open? It was locked in when I arrived. Only your bedroom's door was wide open." >You don't understand... >You leave the kitchen a bit and go to the front door to check on it. "Why would I write something about the front door if it was locked?" You ask yourself. >You quickly check the latch and lock of the door, there was nothing wrong with it. "...Wait a second." >Or that's what you thought. As you take a closer look at the lock, you notice something... tiny sticking from it. >You grab it with your magic. >Sticky... Gray... "Tape?" >The mere chill from finding this out... left you speechless. >You close the front door and decide not to tell your mother about this.
