>It’s been 2 Years, 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 1 Day, 5 Hours, 46 Minutes and 40 Seconds since we got stranded >The rations are gone now >The last ones consumed just a couple of hours ago, we ate till full >Why save it? Oxygen won’t last enough time to let us get hungry anyways >We are running on borrowed time, fate wanted to mock us just a little bit longer >It was a miracle we found this abandoned griffon station >Full of supplies, fuel, and other commodities just for the two of us… >It was plenty but not infinite, we ended up using everything leaving us with only a bunch of useless metal >At first, we were hopeful, maybe it wasn’t over, maybe we could find another planet, one with good enough conditions to at least spend our final days in peace. We were wrong >Over 2 years of traveling, dead space. >It was beautiful though. We saw stars, planets, comets, galaxies, we saw everything, and it was breathtaking >For a moment we felt like this was just a big adventure, that perhaps we would find others, aliens, anything. >We were wrong, oh we were so wrong >It was empty, no one was there, no planets to visit, only inhospitable planets that would kill us in just minutes if we dared to step one foot on them. >With the diminishing supplies reality set in, we were trapped in the spaceship and our judgement day was fast approaching >That day is today, Nassie and I know >We decided to use the few last litters of fuel to give us a push towards the closest moon we could find >It wasn’t like the one that used to exist back at home, this one is darker, full of rifts and ravines made by the constant sieged of meteorites and other space debris >It doesn’t matter, it will do >We left the spaceship, taking the lunar module with the last of our oxygen in our suits >Finding one particularly bright spot on this desert moon we landed >The rattling of the metal, paired with our breathing were the only thing making noise in several millions of kilometers. >As the dust settles in you turn to see Nasapone, she has this look on her face that makes you want to just leave everything and comfort her. >But I can't, I probably have the same look on my own face. >…. “kssh…You ready?” >” …. yes” >You reach for the lever >Flipping the lever produce some internal locks on the hatch to come loose and that lets you open it >As you move to open the door a hoof stops you >” Let me do it…crrrr” >You don’t say anything you just back away letting Nassie push the door open >As she does so you notice her oxygen tank, it’s almost empty >…Nothing to do about it at this point >Finishing opening the door she turns her head towards you >”kssh…Lets go, Anon” >You follow suit >You two decided to have one last adventure exploring this god forsaken moon >An one way trip to the moon >It may be deserted and broken but it had some melancholy beauty to it if you are being honest >Walking around, observing anything that the universe could have to offer on this rock, just because. >You don’t need reasons anymore >Walking together you and Nassie leave the module following one particularly deep ravine “crrr… This place is nice” >You try to lighten up the mood >”…..” “kssh…The sky is beautiful, don’t you think Nassie?” >”…” “…Nassie?” >You turn your attention her >Her gilded visor makes it hard to see her face, so you stop for a moment and approach her “Are you okay?” >”…..” >You feel a tinge of desperation, a crack in your façade >With this feeling as fuel, you hurry and push the button on the side of her helmet to retract the gold coating from her visor leaving her visor clear from the outside >She is crying “kssh… h-hey Nassie, everything its okay!...” >You kneel and embrace her >She hugs you back, with fervor >Trying to calm her down with soothing sounds you feel a knot in your throat >”crrr…I-I don’t want to die..kssh.. Anon!. I don’t want us to die!...kssh…” >She is full out sobbing now >It unbearable to hear this once happy and positive mare like this, but you got to be strong, for her. >”kssh… there.. there… everything will be just fine Nassie….please don’t cry, I’m still here with you” >Still sobbing she just rests her body on your chest >You keep making soothing sounds and telling her about your favorite planets you two saw out there >After what felt like hours Nassie’s sobs have stopped >She was peacefully laying on your chest >…..Too peacefully “Are you alright Nassie?” >”…” “Nassie?!” >You shake her off panicking >Thankfully she was just resting, the depleting oxygen must be making her drowsy >”hmmm..” >Waking up you look at her eyes, all red and puffy from expressing her burden “C’mon Nassie, lets go I want to do something” >Better not give her more time to think about the situation >She just gives you a glance and follows you, not even asking why. ….. >Walking for a little bit you two end up on a particularly even patch of moon, softly illuminated by starts nearby >This is perfect. >As you begin to check your stuff up you hear a voice thru the radio >”kssh… Anon? why are we stopping here?” >fidgeting with your stuff you respond “Well Nassie, I have been thinking and…” >You take up your small music player that you decided to take before leaving earth >You have been listening to it almost every day, by now you know all the songs by heart >Nassie has been listening to it too though not as much since the catastrophe >Ever since your endless voyage you started playing all the songs almost religiously >All songs but one >Perhaps it was fear, or a way to pretend your situation has solution. >Nevertheless, each passing day this song felt more and more close to home “Why don’t we…Dance…crrr?” >You extend your hand towards her >”crr…D-dance?” >She looks at you with a puzzled expression “I…wel….Remember that one song I told you I hated and you shouldn’t hear?” >“Yeah?....” “ksssh….I want to hear it now. Together” >”And dance?..crrr” “I never got to take you on that date I promised you” >She thinks for a second, or maybe she was just taking a break from talking, she looks tired >She tries to give you the best smile she can >”I’d love to dance with you, Anon” >You smile and begin to transmit your music player to both of you and Nassie’s comms “Alright!...kssh” >As the piano begins playing, you take Nassie’s front legs and lift her front body, making her walk on two legs >Your bodies had suffered from the effects of chronic exposure to low gravity, but since you two have only landed on planet with barely any gravity she manages just well >With small steps the two of you begin to waltz awkwardly >With one hand on her withers and other grabbing her left hoof you close your eyes and try to breath in >You imagine a world where you and Nassie come back >Greeted by all your friends >A world where you end up with her >Opening your wet and heavy eyes you look down at Nassie and she looks back at you, face filled with tears and a the most painful smile you have ever seen >Saying nothing you lift her up completely off the ground, using the song tempo to make this slow waltz into something much faster. >You imagine the two of you dancing in canterlot. >Instead of rocks and dust there are other ponies, talking, laughing and acting lively >Old friends cheering for the two of you >You feel lightheaded >Is this what oxygen deprivation feels like? >Nassie looks so beautiful, she's wearing a purple purple dress that contrasts her hair just right >She is resting her head on your chest now >Your heart aches, its beating increasing dramatically >You love her so much >Nassie >Suddenly, you feel your legs give in, even with this low gravity you find really hard to stand up >Nassie just collapses on the floor as you let her go…she must be tired >With all your strength you manage to lift Nassie again, bringing her to your chest >You feel too tired to dance now >Staggering you walk toward the closest rock you could find >Reaching it, you sit down, carefully placing Nassie on your arms, you don’t want to wake her up. >She is resting peacefully, God you love this mare >You want to be closer to her, to feel her warmth, but this stupid suit makes it impossible to do anything but look at her- >….. >Maybe she won’t mind if you just... >Grabbing her body with one hand you reach for the side of her helmet >Finding the safety switches you begin to unlock her suit >Just for a little bit, she won’t notice >As you finish unlocking the helmet you use your free hand to lift it and reveal Nassie’s face >You see the pressurized air leave her suit and with that her body >You can see her face now, ice crystals forming all over her, like tiny stars filling the sky >She is so beautiful >You reach for her face, trying to feel her cheeks but the gloves make it hard to feel anything >….. >…. >..... >Your hand hurts, its boiling from the inside, you can feel the bubbles forming under your skin >It's worth it >You reach her cheeks and begin to caress her face. She so soft, so beautiful >.... >Feeling more daring you take your helmet out, careful to not wake Nassie up >…. >… >It’s so cold outside >You begin gasping for inexistent air but you’ll manage >Grabbing her sleeping body with both hand you weakly lift her face up to your level >One little kiss, she won’t mind >Your vision is blurry, but you'll manage >Seeing her up close feels surreal, the two of you started using the suits almost 24/7 after the ship’s oxygen ran out >This feels different nonetheless >Perhaps it’s the soft natural light of the night sky or her sparkling face shining like a bunch of constellations, you don’t know. >What you do know is that you need kiss her >You need to kiss her so bad now >And you do so >Closing your eyes, you lean towards her resting face >...... >You feel on cloud nine, like fainting even.\ >Is this what being in love feels like? >Your lips met hers, they are warm >You love this mare so much >She is so beautiful… >............ >....... ...... ... . . . . . . ............................................
