Lemon Zest's parents are being extremely unreasonable.

Her 11th favorite band is playing nearby and Lemon wants to take the bus to go see them but Mom & Dad say "No". They've got all kinds of lame grown-up reasons;
>It's 2 hours away.
>The show doesn't even start until midnight.
>It's a school day tomorrow.
>You're only 15.
But Zest is thinking about sneaking out and going anyway. She's sure she can be back in time for school the next day...nobody will ever notice.

>Lemon sneaks out to go to the show
>She's smart, leaves her cell phone at home so she can't be tracked
>Catches the party bus with some losers she knows
>2 hour ride to the city
>Partying the whole way
>The show is awesome
>Over too soon
>Crap, it's past 3am
>Still time to make it home before Mom & Dad wake
>Okay, where's my ride home?

>Oh fuck
>Neither the party bus or the losers are where she expects them
>Lemon is panic
>15, alone, middle of the night in a strange city
>She doesn't wanna do it
>But she has to do it
"Operator, can I place a collect call to my parents? The number is..."
>Don't ask me how she found a pay phone in the year 

>Grumpy Dad tells her to find a police station and wait there for him
>Nervous 2 hour wait in the lobby
>Scary too. She sees lots of junkies and violent criminals being brought in
>Wonders how furious Dad is going to be

>When he finally shows up it's 5:30am
>Doesn't yell or spank her on the spot
>His silence is scarier
>All the way home, hardly a word
>Into the driveway at 7:30
"Get ready for school."
>Crap, still gotta go to school
>Changes into her uniform
>Maybe can escape out the door, face the music later

>Nope
>Dad stands in the doorway
>Holding doubled belt on both ends
>Yanks them apart to make it snap
[audible gulp]
>Lemon realizes she's gonna get it before school.

>The spanks seem to rain on forever
>She misses the bus, but Dad drives her
>Late to school, which means detention later
>Walks into the class mid-lecture
>Everyone can tell that she is having trouble walking and sitting

>Every student cringes in sympathy
>When a girl's angry looking Dad drags her straight to class you KNOW she's having a bad day.

>To make matters worse...Lemon forgot she had an exam today.

Lemon Zest sighed as she walked out the school. A failed test. She'd thought she'd tried. Her dad greeted her in the parking lot. She hid the test. He saw it and sighed. "See why I don't want you going to concerts too late now?"

She groaned. "Yes Dad."

She was surprised to find herself wrapped up in a big bear hug from her dad. Blushing, she stiffened. Once she saw none of her friends were watching, she hugged back.

He patted her hair. "I know I spanked you hard this morning, but I was scared. You could've been hurt."

"I know." She whispered against his chest. "I'm sorry."

He patted her back. "let's go home."
