"5 bits huh..." > You say this to no one in particular. > You like to talk to yourself sometimes, that's normal right? > These thoughts run through your mind as you walk through the park. > All things considered, today wasn't actually that bad. > Sure the sun was kind of a little too warm for your tastes, but that breeze rolling in made it almost bearable. > Keyword: 'almost'. > You look around to try and spot something that could make this heat that much more bearable. > And there you see it. > Off on the other side of the park is a shop. > You head on towards the small white stall. > One word repeating over and over again. > Ice cream. > Yes, that sweet, delicious, cold, treat from the gods. > Just thinking about it rolling down your throat, soothing this uncomfortable heat made you pick up you pace. > What was supposed to be a tired walk, turned into an enthusiastic jog. > Soon enough you are right in front of the stand. > And lucky you, there is only one other customer here at the moment. > Actually, 'unlucky you' would be more fitting. > The mare in front of you is none other than Trixie Lulamoon. > And what do you know; she is fighting with the shop owner. > "What do you mean you don't have Bubblegum!" > "Trixie the Annoyed and Famished, demands to know why her favourite flavour of ice cream is not available!" > Man this mare needs to lighten up. > So they don't have bubblegum, what’s the big deal? > It's not like they don't have strawberry. > May Celestia help them if they don't have strawberry. > "Look miss, we don't have what we don't have. Try another flavour; we have vanilla, chocolate, strawberry..." > Phew… > "... and mint. But. No. Bubblegum." > And with this the blue mare seems to shrink back in defeat. > Huh, that's weird. > She would usually say something along the lines of "Trixie Obnoxious and Loud deems this ice cream vendor incompetent for not having my favourite flavour blah blah blah", then storm off? > Instead she's just sulking away. > Maybe I should... > No. > You are too tired for this shit. > Just get your frozen ecstasy and move on. > You absentmindedly watch her as she walks over to one of the park benches. > And then you see it. > She was crying. > Her face is hidden by her hair but you could see it as plain as Twilight. > She was crying. > CELESTIA FREAKING DAMMIT! > Now this changes things. > You just can’t leave her crying like this, no matter how loud of a pony she might be. > You walk over to magic butt to see what’s wrong. > You sit next to her. > Tears streaming down her face. "Hey there Trixie, is everything okay?" you say to her in the most caring tone you could muster. > She replies with an ‘of course everything isn’t okay you dolt!’. > Or at least that’s what you expected her to say. > But it never comes. > Instead she just sniffles for a bit before she turns her head down and starts talking. > "Why couldn't Trixie get her favourite ice cream today?..." > "All Trixie wanted was some ice cream to make this horrible day better." > "Is that too much to ask?" > ... > Trixie must really be having a bad day. > She is crying on your lap now. > And you are absolutely lost as to what you are supposed to do in this situation. > So you do what comes naturally. > You stroke her mane and tell her everything will be alright. > It may not be the most original or heart warming thing ever, but at least it helps. > After a few minutes, the torrent of tears turns into a quiet trickle. > She settles down, all the while remaining on your lap. > Good she calmed down. > "It's my birthday today." > Huh? > "It's my birthday today and no one remembered." > So that’s why she was so sad. > Well in hindsight she never really had any friends so this thing was bound to happen. > But still, no one should be celebrating their birthday alone. > Trixie continues on. > "Trixie went all around town to see whether anyone remembered her birthday, and what she got was mean stares and insults." > What? Really? > You knew that the others didn’t really like her that much, but to be that cold to her seems kind of… harsh. > "Trixie is trying to be a nice pony, but everyone hates her for what she did before and... and..." > And with that she starts crying again. > Not like before though, this was less loud but much more disheartening. > It was terrible seeing someone in this state. > Even someone as (occasionally) annoying as Trixie. > You pull her into a hug. > This elicits a squeak of surprise from her. > Although this situation is new to her, she shows no sign of resistance, instead she actually starts to get a bit more comfortable with you. > After a short pause, she continues on. > "Trixie even went to put on a free show in the park, in celebration of her birthday... but no one came..." > Ouch the feels. > The feels hurt so much. > "Does everyone hate me that much?" > Now she was staring at you with expectant eyes. > They were pleading for you to say that you didn't hate her. > Praying. > In those violet orbs you could see how fragile she had become. > The once boisterous and demanding mare, now nothing more than a scared little filly. > She was getting uneasy at your silence now. > She was slowing breaking down inside. > Her eyes were drifting down towards the ground. > Despondent. Defeated. > Does everyone hate Trixie? > No. > Not everyone. "I like you Trixie." > She freezes for a moment, taken aback by your statement. > She searches your eyes for any hint of dishonesty. > You stare back at her, knowing that she wouldn't find any. > You truly did like this mare. > She was obnoxious and loud yes, but she was also sweet and funny. > She is the type of mare you would spend time to get to know just because, well… just because. > And so you would. > You break the hug and lift Trixie off of your lap and onto the bench. > You can feel that she doesn't want you to leave but she allows you to stand up anyway. > You look towards her, her eyes red and bleary. Tears staining her cheeks. > You cough a little to lighten up the mood. > She just keeps on staring at you. Waiting. "You want to get some strawberry ice cream?... My treat." > She looks at you quizzically for a second. "I know it's not your favourite but still... I think that the Cute and Charming Trixie should get something for her birthday." > As you say this she lets out a small grin. > She gives of a small nod and hops down from the bench. > Both of you start towards the ice cream stand. > "Trixie would like that... Trixie would like that very much." > It was your turn to smile. > The both of you walk on your way to the stall. > Silence hanging between the both of you. > Not an awkward silence. No. > More like a welcome one. > As you reach the stand you turn to her and speak. "Hey maybe after this you could show me some of your magic?" > A glimmer shines upon her eyes. > Something you take notice of. > That certainly lifted her spirits. > And with that her energy seems to return… and so does her voice. > "Trixie the Great and Powerful would be glad too, although it will not be for free." > You look turn to her whilst paying for the strawberry ice cream. "WHAT! Aww come on!" > She giggles at your response. > You hand her one of the cones and she grabs a hold of it with her magic. > She takes a tentative lick from it. > A soft smile graces her lips as she savour the taste of the ice cream. > You can't help but stare. > Maybe today was a good day after all. > "Hey Anon?" "Yeah Trixie?" > "Trixie the Happy and Thankful really likes this flavour." > She says this with a slight tinge of red. > You stop and stare for a bit. > She just continues on walking, licking at her ice cream. "Happy birthday Trixie." > Yeah, today was a good day.
