Expiry: Never

  1. >Be you
  2. >Growing old sucks
  3. >You found a no-hooves waifu to include into your laifu
  4. >But you never got rid of her
  5. >You never stopped treating her just as well as your wife
  6. >And then your wife passed
  7. >You didn't even get a chance to start a family
  8. >The emotional shock made you shut down entirely
  9. >Outside of work and her, of course
  10. >Until one day, even she left this world
  11. >She left your home one day during a blizzard to tell you something but ended up frozen solid
  12. >Her green-tinted plastic chassis cracked
  13. >Some of her components were ruined
  14. >Including her memory
  15. >Every day is like the second day to her
  16. >And every day is a new day for you
  17. >"Wel-wel-wel-wel-wel-welllllllcom̧è home, Anon!"
  18. >After so many decades, the Applejack bot you got just couldn't keep up
  19. >Nowadays ponybots are practically sentient
  20. >But she's a bit of a relic now
  21. >And relics almost never have spare parts
  22. >You smile and lean down, petting her well-kept mane
  23. >You've spent decades keeping it in perfect condition
  24. >The only thing left on her that's still pristine
  25. >Her washed out ocular orbs scan over you, taking in your heart rate, temperature, and stress levels
  26. >You smile so much when you see her
  27. >But it hurts, even still, because she hasn't seen what has happened to you
  28. >Over forty years you've had her
  29. >You used to call her SnappleJack because of the vibrant green hue her chassis had
  30. >Liquid cooling too
  31. >It looked like Snapple
  32. >So you teased her with that name until it just was her name
  33. >Only you ever called her that
  34. >You fight back age old tears pushing from the back of your head and clear your building sinuses
  35. "Right then... yesterday I told you about a movie we'd watch, didn't I?"
  36. >"Thaaaaaaaaaa̶̢aa̵͟͞áa̵̸a͢͝t's right, pardner! Can we watch it now? Please?"
  37. >You nod and stand up, taking off your brown felt hat
  38. >It was a hat you wanted to give her, but thankfully it fit you too
  39. >It too had been sunbleached and worn by age
  40. >You'll be damned if you get rid of it just because it's old fashioned
  41. >Your back cracking all over, you kick off your boots and sit down at your old, trusted battlestation
  42. >Your home isn't big, it's a tiny condo that you bought after your wife passed
  43. >The world didn't turn out as bad as you thought, but given your age the best you can do is to just keep to yourself
  44. >Snap trots toward you at an angle
  45. >Her actuators are on the fritz so it's like she's walking a tiny bit sideways
  46. >You pick her up and plop her down on your lap
  47. "Alright... what was this called again..."
  48. >Your aged fingers are still a demon with a keyboard and mouse
  49. >You bring up the file and begin to play it
  50. >The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
  51. >A movie you grew up loving
  52. >You love it so much, evidently you watch it every day now
  53. >That first day you bought your bot, you wanted to show her that movie
  54. >Due to her memory gap, every day is the day you introduce her to it
  55. >You haven't ever had the heart to deny her of that
  56. >The movie flies by, as it always does
  57. >You're pretty sure the neighbors think you're crazy for playing it almost exactly at the same time, day after day, for years and years without fucking end
  58. >But you love to see her reactions
  59. >It doesn't hurt when you see her hoot and holler and attempt to cry when confronted with the appropriate scenes
  60. >By the end of it, you watch it again
  61. >Of course
  62. >You haven't ever stopped playing games or watching other things, but you have very little time to do so outside of in the morning or late evenings
  63. >Even then, you spend most of your attention on her
  64. >After the two showings, Snapple shakes your arm with her face
  65. >"Hey, no sleeeeE͢͜EE̷ping! You didn't miss that, did youu͘u̴͢u̴͝u?"
  66. >You chuckle and shake your head
  67. "Of course not. Did you really think Blondie would've let Tuco die like that? They're not bad men, you know. They're just dealing the hand they were dealt."
  68. >Now that you're so old, you find deeper and deeper insight of that damned movie
  69. >Maybe your mind is starting to go
  70. >You yawn, leaning back in your captain's chair
  71. >It's a thing of beauty, thank technological and ergonomic advances
  72. >It doubles as your bed, pretty much
  73. >You idly stroke Snap's mane
  74. >You can feel the cracks on her chassis
  75. >The rare gap that goes into her wiring
  76. >That one frayed wire that controlled... something
  77. >You forget some of the specifics about her
  78. >"Heey, AnỜ́̕n! Tomorrow can we watch more stuff together?"
  79. >You stifle a... noise
  80. >You dare not contemplate what that noise could have been
  81. "Yeah... yeah, I got a huge backlog to go through with you, you know. And we're gonna watch everything three times over until you get it straight, ok?"
  82. >You really did have a backlog that long, once
  83. >It took four months of watching movies and shows to clear it up
  84. >By the time it did, you were both young nerds that couldn't stand to be apart
  85. >You sigh and relax, thinking of what you'll do with her tomorrow
  86. >You keep doing the same thing every day, hoping that maybe some miracle will happen and that her memory will somehow recover
  87. >You spent so much time focusing on those first months over the years that you could write a five act play of every single day
  88. >Not one single detail leaves you
  89. >Even your fridge is in a perpetual stasis of exact items, exact quantities, and how far away it is from going bad
  90. >You're so god damned tired of eating eggs
  91. >Decent diet though
  92. "I'm gonna... get some rest for a little bit, Snap. Wake me up in the morning for work, ok?"
  93. >You haven't had to work in at least a decade now
  94. >But that's what you told her when you were still some random grease monkey
  95. >"Alllrighty parduǝɹ! I'll wake you ɹiƃɥʇ up at--"
  96. >Her voice turns monotone
  97. >"Five, forty, five, AM."
  98. >It goes back to a somewhat squeaky, crackled version of normality
  99. >"Mind if I sleeEep right here then? I can be yo-yo-yo-yo-yo-yo-yo-yo-yo-ỳǫ͝ư̡r̢ pillow!"
  100. "Heh... how about you be my blanket? You're far too cute to put behind my head."
  101. >She snuggles against your hand, her actuators creaking slightly from the minimal movement
  102. >You close your eyes
  103. >Tomorrow will be better, you believe
  104. >Tomorrow she will remember
