    >Day Ponies Are Supposed To Be Small.
  4. 4.
    >Usually you prefer waiting until the battle is over before entering.
  5. 5.
    >Why would you sully your hooves with fighting?
  6. 6.
    >These humans, as they are called, are calculating and deceitful.
  7. 7.
    >Once one of them nearly shot you with a bolt.
  8. 8.
    >How embarrassing would that have been?
  9. 9.
    >To allow a simple crossbowman to hurt you.
  10. 10.
    >Luckily, you had been paying attention and had noticed him moving.
  11. 11.
    >Waiting for his moment.
  12. 12.
    >His one moment of glory before death.
  13. 13.
    >But, sadly for him, it wasn’t enough.
  14. 14.
    >You stopped his bolt only inches from your flank.
  15. 15.
    >Not a critical blow, but it would have made you look weak.
  16. 16.
    >It took days for him to die.
  17. 17.
    >You allowed one of his compatriots to watch.
  18. 18.
    >To hear his friend screaming.
  19. 19.
    >Then, you let him escape.
  20. 20.
    >What would be the point unless the others learned of your cruelty?
  21. 21.
    >After a few more battles, most humans gave up when you arrived at their cities.
  22. 22.
    >Ponies are, of course, bigger than these creatures.
  23. 23.
    >Not by height, but by size.
  24. 24.
    >You look at one of them laying on the stone stairs.
  25. 25.
    >Most ponies would be chest height to the nameless man.
  26. 26.
    >He would obviously have to look up to you.
  27. 27.
    >This makes you smile, as you continue climbing the steps.
  28. 28.
    >Shadowbolts flank you on either side.
  29. 29.
    >Usually you hardly notice them, but they are nervous and stay close.
  30. 30.
    >”My Queen, it isn’t safe yet.”
  31. 31.
    >You look at the cowering worm who dared speak to you.
  32. 32.
    >Soaring or something.
  33. 33.
    >You don’t quite remember.
  34. 34.
    >All that you seem to remember is that he used to be a wonderbolt.
  35. 35.
    >Since you are in a good mood, you decide not to kill him where he stands.
  36. 36.
    >Instead, you offer him only a curt reply.
  37. 37.
“I shall decide what is safe, and what is not.”
  38. 38.
    >He bows quickly.
  39. 39.
    >”Yes, my Queen.”
  40. 40.
    >Ignoring him, you continue.
  41. 41.
    >Around you, you hear screams and the sound of battle.
  42. 42.
    >The humans are putting up more of a fight than usual.
  43. 43.
    >This was expected.
  44. 44.
    >You understand their king lives here.
  45. 45.
    >Anonymous.
  46. 46.
    1/6
  47. 47.
    >Whether that is his true name, or the humans dare not speak it, you aren’t sure.
  48. 48.
    >All you know is that it took three days to breach his walls.
  49. 49.
    >Their mares and fillies will make good slaves, but the stallions are too dangerous.
  50. 50.
    >They must all be killed.
  51. 51.
    >You finally climb all the stairs and see a garden.
  52. 52.
    >Ponies and humans lay in a pile in the center.
  53. 53.
    >You crinkle your nose.
  54. 54.
    >The smell of death is fresh and raw here.
  55. 55.
    >The fountain is a nice touch though.
  56. 56.
    >It will have to include a statue of yourself, but that can be taken care of later.
  57. 57.
    >At the far side of the garden is a large open door.
  58. 58.
    >No.
  59. 59.
    >It was a set of doors.
  60. 60.
    >They were battered open and large chunks of splintered wood decorate the stone floor.
  61. 61.
    >Behind it, you can hear shouting.
  62. 62.
    >The sound of a weapon hitting armor.
  63. 63.
    >A scream.
  64. 64.
    >Then silence.
  65. 65.
    >Your ponies must have killed the last defender.
  66. 66.
    >Though you know your guards will disapprove, you enter.
  67. 67.
    >A throne!
  68. 68.
    >Again you smile.
  69. 69.
    >It is, of course, just a simple symbol.
  70. 70.
    >But sitting on it would essentially allow you to declare yourself Queen of All Humans.
  71. 71.
    >The shadowbolts glide in silently beside you.
  72. 72.
    >”You there! Stay where you are!”
  73. 73.
    >The shadow bolts brandish their spears.
  74. 74.
    >You furrow your brow.
  75. 75.
    >Why are they ruining your moment of victory?
  76. 76.
    >Then you see it.
  77. 77.
    >A lone human.
  78. 78.
    >He is on his knees.
  79. 79.
    >The man wears plate armor, though blood is seeping through the joints.
  80. 80.
    >A sword of some kind is beside him, on the floor.
  81. 81.
    >His hand touches the hilt, though from his heavy breathing, you doubt he can lift it.
  82. 82.
    >In front of him are four ponies.
  83. 83.
    >All were hacked to death in one way or another.
  84. 84.
    >Worthless.
  85. 85.
    >The human notices you.
  86. 86.
    >You watch as his eyes move from glassy, to recognition.
  87. 87.
    >He coughs out blood, before speaking.
  88. 88.
    >”You’re big for a pony.”
  89. 89.
    >This makes you laugh.
  90. 90.
    >Of all the stupid things to say, he chooses that.
  91. 91.
    >Two shadowbolts approach slowly with their spears.
  92. 92.
    2/6
  93. 93.
    >No doubt they are cautious after seeing their fallen comrades.
  94. 94.
    >”Be silent, human!”
  95. 95.
    >He shakily moves his right leg so his foot is on the ground.
  96. 96.
    >Then the other foot.
  97. 97.
    >Finally he rises.
  98. 98.
    >He wobbles as he stands, and it takes a moment for him to steady himself.
  99. 99.
    >The human raises his sword, and rests the guard on his shoulder.
  100. 100.
    >It’s nearly as long as he is tall.
  101. 101.
    >A Greatsword.
  102. 102.
    >Your shadowbolts hesitate.
  103. 103.
    >Worthless.
  104. 104.
    “Give up human. You’ve lost.”
  105. 105.
    >”Never.”
  106. 106.
    >You take a step forward.
  107. 107.
“And why would you continue to fight us? The battle is lost.”
  108. 108.
    >He wobbles, and he has to change his stance to keep his balance.
  109. 109.
    >”Not while I still stand.”
  110. 110.
    >Normally you would kill him for daring to respond to you.
  111. 111.
    >But, again, you are in a good mood.
  112. 112.
    >You humor the dead man.
  113. 113.
“And why do you think you are so important?”
  114. 114.
    >He takes several deep breaths as he looks at your soldiers.
  115. 115.
    >Likely he is deciding if he has a chance.
  116. 116.
    >With you here, he has none.
  117. 117.
    >”I am King Anonymous. And as long as I stand, we will continue fighting.”
  118. 118.
    >You raise your eyebrows.
  119. 119.
    >This is their king?
  120. 120.
    >A man who can barely kill four ponies?
  121. 121.
    >You smirk.
  122. 122.
    “And I am Nightmare Moon.”
  123. 123.
    >You watch as he realizes his predicament.
  124. 124.
    >A shadowbolt or two, he could kill, no doubt.
  125. 125.
    >But a Queen?
  126. 126.
    >The Queen?
  127. 127.
    >He tries to stand taller.
  128. 128.
    >”Good. Then we can end this here and now.”
  129. 129.
    >You nod benevolently at him.
  130. 130.
    “We can.”
  131. 131.
    >You take another step forward, and he readies his sword.
  132. 132.
    >The shadowbolts try to get between you, but you wave them off.
  133. 133.
    >Annoying ponies.
  134. 134.
    >You shall deal with them later.
  135. 135.
    >It’s been a while since you’ve fought.
  136. 136.
    >No doubt the exercise will do you well.
  137. 137.
    >”Well? Get on with it?”
  138. 138.
    “Eager, aren’t you?”
  139. 139.
    >Anonymous bares his bloody teeth.
  140. 140.
    >”I am.”
  141. 141.
    >He still has fight in him.
  142. 142.
    >Good.
  143. 143.
    >Against your better judgement you decide to give him a chance.
  144. 144.
    3/6
  145. 145.
“I shall make you a proposition. Lay down your sword, and swear allegiance to me, and I will allow you to live.”
  146. 146.
    >”As a slave?”
  147. 147.
    >You press your lips together.
  148. 148.
    “As an exile.”
  149. 149.
    >”And my people?”
  150. 150.
    >You offer a noncommittal shrug.
  151. 151.
    >He shakes his head.
  152. 152.
    >”I can’t do that.”
  153. 153.
“Then we have nothing else to discuss.”
  154. 154.
    >”Good.”
  155. 155.
    >He lunges at you and swings his Greatsword.
  156. 156.
    >You dodge his clumsy attack, and throw-
  157. 157.
    >No, your magic has no effect.
  158. 158.
    >Again he swings and you launch yourself into the air.
  159. 159.
    >He allows the momentum to carry him, and nearly gets to grab a hoof.
  160. 160.
    >But you were too fast and buck him to the ground.
  161. 161.
    >His armor clatters loudly as he falls.
  162. 162.
    >Again you leap to crush his skull, but he rolls away.
  163. 163.
    >You can see cracks in the marble floor.
  164. 164.
    >He climbs to his feet as quickly as he can, and lifts the sword above his head.
  165. 165.
    >You circle each other, waiting for an opportunity.
  166. 166.
    >You magic a spear from one of your shadowbolts.
  167. 167.
    >He instantly lets go and allows you to take it.
  168. 168.
“How is your armor magic resistant?”
  169. 169.
    >This makes him smile, but he doesn’t answer.
  170. 170.
    >It doesn’t matter.
  171. 171.
    >He will be dead soon enough.
  172. 172.
    >You lunge at him, point first.
  173. 173.
    >He dodges the thrust and swings his sword.
  174. 174.
    >This time you aren’t quite fast enough, and stumble.
  175. 175.
    >The point makes a deep scratch in your armor.
  176. 176.
    >He follows with another blow, but you manage to block it with your spear.
  177. 177.
    >The wood cracks loudly, but doesn’t break.
  178. 178.
    >Still, you don't want to use a potentially compromised weapon.
  179. 179.
    >He doesn’t have time to continue before you dash backward.
  180. 180.
“Another!” You command, and a shadow bolts hoofs his spear.
  181. 181.
    >Again you begin your circling dance.
  182. 182.
    >You weigh his movements.
  183. 183.
    >He favors his left side.
  184. 184.
    >Obviously trying to protect it.
  185. 185.
    >That’s his weakness.
  186. 186.
    >You feint to his right, and his moves his sword to block.
  187. 187.
    >The spear easily finds the gap in his armor, and he shouts in pain.
  188. 188.
    >Somehow he manages to stay standing.
  189. 189.
    >He swings his sword, but he’s slow now.
  190. 190.
    4/6
  191. 191.
    >You easily avoid the blow and attack his legs.
  192. 192.
    >He tries to move away, but your spear finds purchase.
  193. 193.
    >Anonymous falls to his knees.
  194. 194.
    >He desperately clings to his sword.
  195. 195.
    >But you know he won’t last long now.
  196. 196.
“Submit, and I will spare you.”
  197. 197.
    >”As a slave?” he repeats.
  198. 198.
    >You lunge at him and he falls on his back.
  199. 199.
    >You put the spear point at his throat.
  200. 200.
    >He watches you closely.
  201. 201.
    >Anonymous has one hand on his sword.
  202. 202.
    >It won’t be enough to move that hunk of metal.
  203. 203.
“No. Being a slave would be too good for you. You will be tortured. You will beg for death. And, when I am sufficiently pleased, I may allow you to die.”
  204. 204.
    >”Then I can’t accept.”
  205. 205.
    >This makes you laugh.
  206. 206.
    >It’s a deep laugh.
  207. 207.
    >It’s absurd that a human would continue to fight when he has clearly lost.
  208. 208.
    >He offers you two weak laughs.
  209. 209.
    >Perhaps he thinks his defiance might win him some dignity.
  210. 210.
    >You hear the sound of a blade leaving its sheath.
  211. 211.
    >He grasps your spear with one hand, and the other has a knife at your throat.
  212. 212.
    >”It would appear, the tables have turned.”
  213. 213.
    >You bare your teeth at the insolent human.
  214. 214.
    “It appears so.”
  215. 215.
    >”Let my people go, and I will spare your life.”
  216. 216.
    >An eternity passes.
  217. 217.
    >You can’t accept his offer.
  218. 218.
    >If anypony knew you bargained with a human, then they would say you are weak.
  219. 219.
    >Still, this is the first thing to ever question you openly.
  220. 220.
    >It would be a shame to kill him now.
  221. 221.
    >He presses the blade closer, and you swallow.
  222. 222.
    >”Well?!”
  223. 223.
    >Beside you a shadowbolt shuffles.
  224. 224.
    >Before he can react, the pony grabs the knife.
  225. 225.
    >Anonymous tries to struggle, but he is too weak.
  226. 226.
    >The knife clanks loudly on the floor.
  227. 227.
    >Perhaps these ponies aren’t as useless as you thought.
  228. 228.
“Anonymous. The time for humans has come to an end.”
  229. 229.
    >He lifts his chin, exposing his neck.
  230. 230.
    >”Get it over with.”
  231. 231.
    >You move your head to the side.
  232. 232.
    >Even facing death, this human is defiant.
  233. 233.
    >You watch him closely.
  234. 234.
    >No one has ever disrespected you this often.
  235. 235.
    >Perhaps he truly is worthy of being a king.
  236. 236.
    5/6
  237. 237.
    >You bite your lip.
  238. 238.
    >”If you swear allegiance, I will spare you.”
  239. 239.
    >He closes his eyes.
  240. 240.
    >”And my people?”
  241. 241.
    >You take a deep breath.
  242. 242.
    >It would be a shame to kill him.
  243. 243.
    >To kill somepony who would dare stand up to you.
  244. 244.
    “All humans?”
  245. 245.
    >He doesn’t answer.
  246. 246.
    “All humans!?” You shout.
  247. 247.
    >He coughs up blood.
  248. 248.
    >”Just mine.”
  249. 249.
    >You let out a loud huff.
  250. 250.
    >It is better to make him wait.
  251. 251.
    >To make him know that everything depends on your whim.
  252. 252.
    >That you are the only chance they have.
  253. 253.
    >The power you command is impressive.
  254. 254.
    >Many have sworn allegiance without ever getting a concession.
  255. 255.
    >But, you can be kind as well.
  256. 256.
    >Silently you curse yourself.
  257. 257.
    >Why is this man different?
  258. 258.
    >You should kill him now, and be done with it.
  259. 259.
    >Still, it would be good if you let him go.
  260. 260.
    >Then other humans might think they have a chance.
  261. 261.
    >Others will bow willingly, if you concede just this one point.
  262. 262.
    >Against your better judgement, you again decide to take a chance.
  263. 263.
    “They will be spared.”
  264. 264.
    >”All of them?”
  265. 265.
“Only your people. Not all humans.”
  266. 266.
    >He opens an eye cautiously.
  267. 267.
    >The other soon follows.
  268. 268.
    >”I suppose, that’s the best I can hope for.”
  269. 269.
    >You press the spear closer, and he tries to move away.
  270. 270.
“That’s right. And my patience is nearly over.”
  271. 271.
    >He looks away in shame.
  272. 272.
    >”Fine. If that’s what it takes.”
  273. 273.
    >You smile.
  274. 274.
    “Swear allegiance.”
  275. 275.
    >He coughs again.
  276. 276.
    >”I swear loyalty, my Queen.”
  277. 277.
    >
  278. 278.
    >
  279. 279.
“And that’s how I met your father.”

There was an argument on the size of ponies in the slave pony thread. Personally I think that if ponies were big, they would easily enslave humans.
