>he's just been staring at you since you brought him home an hour ago
-
>your brand new big red stallion
-
>sitting there in the living room floor on his haunches
-
>he doesn't look too thrilled
-
>or does he?
-
>his expression is kind of stoic
-
>he could be plotting to murder you at this very moment and you'd never know
-
>nah, he knows you're his meal ticket
-
>he doesn't look too bright, but you doubt he's stupid enough to try anything funny
-
>you clear your throat awkwardly
-
"Ahem... erm... so! Pony!"
-
>his head tilts ever so slightly toward you
-
"What's your name?"
-
>he shrugs
-
"Quiet type, eh?"
-
>a simple nod
-
"Look, I uh... I don't know how the trainers I bought you from treated you, but I'm not going to hurt you here. You don't have to be afraid of me."
-
>he raises an eyebrow
-
>right... probably not afraid of you
-
>not even slightly
-
>you place your hand against your forehead and do your best to muster a stern tone
-
"Pony, I order you to tell me your name."
-
>he hesitates for several moments
-
>"Name's Big Macintosh. Or Big Mac. Or, y'know, 'Slave' to you."
-
>his eyes narrow
-
"Come on, don't be like that..."
-
>he snorts
-
"I want us to be friends."
-
>the stallion huffs and rolls his eyes
-
>fat chance
-
>you sigh
-
"Fine. I need to give that some time, I get it - but don't you even want to know why I bought you? What your job is going to be?"
-
>he gives a swish of his bobbed orange tail and looks away in disinterest
-
"You know, you should count yourself lucky... I could be a lot meaner - or you could have ended up as some pervert's sex slave or something. The least you could do is fucking talk to me, damn."
-
>he shudders and gives a relenting sigh
-
>"Ah ain't good at much other than pullin', carryin' and haulin'. And this here don't look like no farm to me. And if ya ain't some kinda sicko like you said, Ah don't see how ah'm of much use to ya to be honest."
-
>you place a hand on the back of your neck, suddenly a little nervous to tell your new prized possession his place in your life
-
"I mean, well, I wasn't kidding when I said I wanted us to be friends. Companion is one of your roles... the other..."
-
>"...well?"
-
"I uh... I kinda bought you to be a riding pony," you stammer out awkwardly
-
>he frowns, a mild look of disgust on his face
-
>"Why didn't ya'll just buy a horse?"
-
>you don't really owe him any explanation
-
>he's your slave after all
-
>but you answer anyway
-
"I can't exactly keep a horse here. I mean, ponies can at least be kept within city limits and... well to be honest, while I admire them I'm kind of... scared of horses."
-
>he starts laughing almost instantaneously
-
>doesn't even try to hold it back out of respect, eventually falling onto his side, letting out one guffaw after another
-
"Hey shut up. It's really not that amusing," you deadpan. "That's no way to act toward your master."
-
>the laughter dies instantly
-
>that struck a nerve
-
>"Ah'm not gonna call you that, just so ya know."
-
"That's fine, I don't care if you call me by my name, but I expect a certain level of respect nonetheless. I mean, I don't think your job is going to be too difficult for what you're getting in return."
-
>"And what's that?"
-
"A roof over your head, good food in your belly. You can goof around and watch TV or whatever when I'm not home for all I care. Hell, the guest bedroom is yours now too. I'm not a monster."
-
>he ponders his response for a moment before replying
-
>"Ah ain't ever been opposed to earnin' mah keep, but Ah still don't like this. Just ain't right ownin' somepony."
-
"Spare me the pony rights guilt tripping bullshit. Would you rather I took you back to where you came from?"
-
>his eyes go wide for a moment
-
"I take that as a no."
