A Very Different Pony [Stompy Slippers] [2013] [DOGSHIT]

By punki

Expiry: Never

  1. Bit of context is needed here:
  2. This is the first (or second maybe?) piece of green I ever wrote, and it subsequently sucks. This was wrote back in 2013, and does not reflect my newer green in the slightest - Go read some of my other pastes if you're interested in seeing some slightly less shit stuff. This story was first posted on my old pastebin (/u/Cou) back in 2013, and later posted to my newer pastebin (/u/punki) in 2017, and I am now uploading it to Pone Paste for archival reasons.
  3.
  4. Quick rundown for those not familiar with the *original* version of Stompy Slippers:
  5. Stompy is an Earth pony that wears a white plastic/paper horn, and dreams of being a unicorn. She wears slippers because she has sensitive hooves, or just because she likes slippers. This was generally left up to the writer to decide, but the character *has* changed a lot in other writefags interpretations since then.
  6.
  7. Origin:
  8. She was first spotted on some UK slipper company's boxart for their kids "Stompeez" slippers that are shaped like unicorn heads. (Google them. They're the most terrifying fucking things in the world.) After later research, Anons discovered that Stompy was a trace of a Rainbow Dash vector by some random on Deviantart that the company that makes Stompeez traced and then recoloured. THE END.

  10. On with the cringe...
  11.
  12. [CHAPTER 1]
  13.
  14. >You are Anon.
  15. >You have been in Equestria now for about three years, now, and in your time here, you have seen many ponies come, and go, but none are quite like her.
  16. >None are quite like Stompy.
  17.
  18. >About three, or four days ago, a strange purple mare came wondering into Ponyville, and no one really seemed to want anything to do with her.
  19. >On your initial arrival in Equestria, you didn't exactly have the friendliest welcoming, either. Ponies practically shit themselves when seeing you, and you can't blame them, because you were practically an alien.
  20. >Sure, you prefer keeping to yourself, but they've warmed up to you now. The part that confuses you is that this new face is just another pony, so you don't see what the big deal is.
  21. >I mean, okay, her choice in footware was a bit.. Unique, to say the least, and the fact that she had a plastic white unicorn horn tied around her head was a little bit odd, but other than that, she was friendly.
  22. >Quirky, but friendly.
  23.
  24. >You're currently walking back to your small house, which sits on the outskirts of ponyville.
  25. >God damn, the weather fucking sucks tonight, you regret not asking the weather team what was forecast for today.
  26. >Oh well, there's nothing you can do about it now.
  27. >As you walk through the streets, you notice a glimmer of light in the distance, not too far off from your house.
  28. >Wait, what the fuck? Is that a tent? Yeah, I think it is, or at least was. It's littered in holes, and looks like shit. This weather can't be doing it too good either.
  29. >The light you saw was coming from the gas lantern the owner had set up in front of their makeshift shelter.
  30.
  31. >Whoever is in there shouldn't be out right now, this storm is not going to let up any time soon, so you decide to take it upon yourself to check up on whatever poor pony might be crazy enough to challenge the elements.
  32.
  33. >You tap your finger on the tent zipper.
  34. "Hello? Anyp0ny in there?"
  35. >All you get in response is a sound which sounds like someone ruffling a paper bag, followed by a low, and weak sounding "y-yes.."
  36. >Shit, that didn't sound good.
  37. >Fuck it, you're not going to leave this poor bastard out here to die.
  38. "Hey, open up, you shouldn't be out here alone in this rain, you'll catch hypothermia, or some shit, and I don't need that on my conscious."
  39. >"J-Just u-unzip the o-opening.."
  40. >What you find inside was not expected. It's Stompy, she doesn't look too good. Her mane, and fur are damp, and she's shivering, wrapped up in a thin blanket which is more or less dropping apart.
  41. >Shit, is this how she's been living? These conditions would be shitty, rain, or shine, let alone in full piss down mode.
  42. "Stompy, are you alright? You don't look it."
  43. >"Y-yes, e-everything is f-fine.. *sniff* E-everything is just fine.. *sniff*"
  44. "Like fuck it is, you're coming home, with me, you're going to freeze to death if you stay out here, come on."
  45. >"N-no I don't w-want to be a b- WOAH"
  46. >You pick her up and wrap her in your coat, before gathering up her saddle bags, and carrying her back home.
  47. >You dry her off in your passageway, with a towel. It's pretty adorable how she tilts her head into your hand when you dry behind her ears. It's a bit like drying a big dog, in a way. She's a lot more co-operative than a dog would be, though.
  48.
  49. >"T-thanks, uhhh.. A-anon, is it?"
  50. "That's the name, don't wear it out. I'll go and get the fire started, feel free to warm up in the living room, if you want."
  51.
  52. >You're currently trying to get your fireplace going. It's proving to be a bit of a bitch.
  53. >What the hell was Stompy doing out there, anyway? Why didn't she just stay in an inn, there's two of them not far from here.
  54. >No better time to find out than now.
  55. "Hey, Stompy, mind if I ask you something?"
  56. >"Oh.. Uhuh.. I guess that's okay, Anon."
  57. "What where you doing out there? You could have easily got a roof over your head around here, if you just asked, you know?"
  58. >"I'm not um.. Like other ponies.. Other ponies don't like me very much, because I'm different.. It's like this wherever I go. It's always been this way."
  59. "What do you mean by "other ponies don't like you", you seem perfectly fine to me?"
  60. >"It"s a long story.."
  61.
  62. [CHAPTER 2]
  63.
  64. >You are Anon
  65. >The little purple mare that is currently tucked into a blanket on your couch has just explained how she ended up here in ponyville, and you are a bit shocked at what you are hearing.
  66. >From what you can tell, she left home when she was just a filly, because of the rough times she was going through in her hometown, because of how different she is.
  67. >She just happened to end up wondering town to town looking for somewhere to fit in, and find some friends.
  68. >She claims that she wears her horn because she feels like a Unicorn on the inside, despite the fact that she's an Eath Pony, and the slippers that she wears are there to protect her hooves, because of her "sensitive hoof" condition.
  69.
  70. >She went on to explain that the reason that she ended up living in a tent was down to the fact that everyp0ny in town gave her "funny looks" and "ignored her" when she tried to speak to them.
  71. >Figures, p0nies are scared of what they don't understand.. It's pretty unfortunate, really, considering that this place always brushed off on you as welcoming to everyp0ny, and everything.
  72. >Nowhere is perfect, you suppose.
  73.
  74. >Stompy fell asleep on your couch half an hour ago, she must have really tuckered herself out today.
  75. >You're just sitting here, thinking to yourself, again.
  76. >You know for a fact that she has nowhere to go, and she'll no doubt wonder around for at least the next ten years of her life.
  77. >Unless she freezes to death first...
  78. >... Shit.
  79. >You could let her live with you.. Couldn't you?
  80. >Sure, you have a pretty shitty income, from doing the odd jobs around town, but you have a roof over your head, and that's surely more than this pony has ever even come close to having.
  81. >You've been an anti-social shutin for the past three years, it'd be nice to have some company..
  82. >.. Fuck it.
  83. "Hey, Stompy"
  84. >You prod her belly lightly
  85. >"Mmmmumph"
  86. >D'awww
  87. "Stompy, wake up, I have some news for you."
  88. >"Five.. More.. Minutes"
  89. "STOMPY!"
  90. >"DAHH!" *THUD*
  91. >She just rolled off of the couch and hit your floor like a sack of rocks.
  92. >She just picks herself up and rubs her head.
  93.
  94. >"O-oh, hi Anon.. Sorry for not getting up.. I hope you're not angry, are you? Please don't be angry.."
  95. >Oh God, you cannot contain your laughter at how much she's stumbling around while speaking.
  96. >"*sniff*"
  97. >Wait, is she cr-
  98. >*sniff* *sniff*
  99. >Oh, well done dick head, look at what you've done now.
  100. >Fuck you brain.
  101. "Hey, hey, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you, it's just that you caught me off guard with your little tumble."
  102. >She's still sniffling it up pretty hard, so you decide to pick her up into a hug, which clearly catches her off guard.
  103. >"S-so you're not *sniff* angry with me, *sniff*, Anon?"
  104. "Of course not, why would I be? You were tired. Hell, you should see me in the morning, you'd have better luck waking the dead."
  105. >She presses her cheak into your chest, and nuzzles you
  106. >This mare is going to run your d'aww bank dry, you swear to Celestia.
  107. >"Heh.. S-so what did you want to tell me, Anon?
  108. "Well, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to stay here with me for a while. From what you've told me, you don't seem to have anywhere to go, so what do you say?"
  109. >The next few seconds are dead silent as she just stares back at you with a look of disbelief on her face.
  110. >"Are you sure?!"
  111. "I'm positive"
  112.
  113. >You were not prepared for this, a pony has leaped from your arms, and attached its self to your face.
  114. >"Thank you, thank you, thank you! You're the best, Anon, I promise I will try to be the best housemate possible!"
  115. "I cnn breeeh"
  116. >"What was that?"
  117. "I CNNT BREEF"
  118. >"OH YOU CAN'T BREAHTE."
  119. >I have seen the end, and it was a ball of purple fur, with slippers.
  120. "Thanks, Stompy"
  121. >You are Anonymous, and you are sure that this is going to be interesting.
  122.
  123. [CHAPTER 3]
  124.
  125. >It has been almost a week since Stompy moved in with you, and things are going pretty well, so far.
  126. >After the storm passed, you decided it would be a smart idea to go back and recover anything that may have been left of her tent, and what little things she owned. You came across an empty water bottle, two saddle bags, one of which was empty, and the other had two pairs of slippers packed inside of it.
  127. >The tent its self has definitely seen better days at this point. When you found it, it was just a pile of wet fabric laying on the ground, with a few sticks protruding out of it.
  128. >Jesus Christ, she could have been in there if you didn't come along and find her when you did. The what if's are through the roof right now, but thinking about them is bumming you out, so you dump them in the back of your mind for later destruction, via alcohol, and food.
  129.
  130. >Back to your new permanent "guest", however.
  131. >She has been sleeping in your small guest room, which you have not used even once in your time here. Hell, it has pretty much been used as an oversized closet for keeping all of your boxes of crap in, and it has always been a bit of a dusty shithole because you never bothered using it for anything productive.
  132. >Stompy seems to like it, though, which is enough to keep you happy.
  133. >Admittedly, despite her lets say, "different", behaviour, she is incredibly easy to live with.
  134. >She never makes a mess, she always helps you clean up, and she always insists on packing your groceries away, claiming "Even though it's just a simple job, she'd feel useless if she didn't at least do something to help out", and you can't really take that away from her. If she's happy with it, you're happy with it.
  135.
  136. >On top of all of this, no matter how much you want to deny it, even her strange little way of doing things, such as the way she almost hops around the house sometimes like the floor is on fire makes you d'aww internally, and sometimes externally.
  137.
  138. >Today is differen't, though.
  139. >Stompy hasn't left the house even once since you offered to let her stay with you, and whenever you ask her to come anywhere with you, she backs away into her room, or into the kitchen, claiming that she "doesn't feel well enough" to go outside when other ponies are around.
  140. >This really boils your piss sometimes.
  141. >You're not angry with Stompy, at all, not even in the slightest, but you are with the way other p0nies have treated her, in the past.
  142. >One step at a time, Anon, one step at a time.
  143. >Today, you are taking your strange purple pony friend to the park, to relax a little, in public, whether she likes it or not. It'll do her some good, you're sure of it.
  144. "Stompy! Come on down, we're going out!"
  145. >"O-oh.. That's okay, Anon.. You go without me, I d -"
  146. >You cut her short, you're not giving in without a fight.
  147. "No excuses, get your ass down here, we're going to the park."
  148. >"B-but there's other p0nies there, Anon... A-and you know I don't do well around other p0nies, and well.. I -"
  149. >You warned her, you really did.
  150. "Right, that's it, I'm coming up to drag you there if I have to!"
  151. >You hear the light "pomf" of her slippers hit the ground as you walk up the stairs, and the sound of four legs shuffling underneath a bed.
  152. >This is going to be entertaining, to say the least.
  153.
  154. >You enter her room, and look around, seeing a pinkish tail sticking out from under her bed.
  155. "Stomp, I can see you, just come out, and go to the park with me, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way."
  156. >"But I don't want to go outside, Anon.. It's safe in here, where there's nop0ny else to laugh at me, and call me names behind my back.."
  157. >Shit, you better tread easily here, you're on thin ice.
  158. "Look, I know it's hard, okay. How about this, we go to the park, and we sit out of the way of everyone, and eveything else, just the two of us?"
  159. >You here a mixture of a whimper, and a groan come out from underneath the bed, and to your surprise, the tail disappears, and after some shuffling, a head pops out, and asks you:
  160. >"Just the two of us?"
  161. "Promise"
  162.
  163. [CHAPTER 4]
  164.
  165. >You are Anon, and this is the longest walk to the park you have ever had in your entire life.
  166. >Your small purple companion has deemed it necessary to hide behind you the entire way here, and she keeps clipping the back of your heels with her front hooves.
  167. >You would be upset about this, but you are aware of how big this must be for her, after all, she doesn't seem to do the whole "socialising" thing very often.
  168. >Neither do you.
  169. >You only ever leave the house when you have to, which isn't very often at all, to be honest.
  170. >Suddenly, your thoughts are interrupted.
  171. >"A-anon.. Can we go home now.."
  172. "Stomp, we're almost there, we can't turn back now. Besides, look, the gate is just over there."
  173. >"O-oh.. Okay then.."
  174. >Jesus Christ, she sounds nervous.. Wait, is she fucking shivering?
  175. >Well don't you feel like a d-
  176. >Brain, I swear to fucking God, shut the fuck up for a second, I got this.
  177. "Trust me, you'll love it when we get there, I know a good spot where nop0ny will bother you."
  178.
  179. >About time.
  180. >You have arrived at your destination, the park.
  181. >When you first got here, Stompy was on edge, big time. She almost started crying when she saw how many other p0nies were walking around.
  182. >Luckily, you knew a few quiet spots, from when you first arrived here.
  183. >It helped relax your nerves a lot after you were abruptly torn from your homeworld, and dumped here.
  184. >You found a large tree which is lopsided on the top, so the branches, and leaves provide a nice shaded area to escape from the sun, and in many cases, bad situations.
  185.
  186. >No use dwelling on the past, anyhow.
  187. >At least Stompy has calmed down now. Hell, she even looks happy.
  188. >She's currently sitting with her forehooves across your legs, and you have your hands behind your head.
  189. "So I take it I am forgiven, for dragging you out of the house?"
  190. >"Mmmhm.."
  191. >"I'm sorry for not coming out sooner.. It's just.. I don't mix with other p0nies very well.. And I-"
  192. "Don't worry about it, I'm just glad that you're coming out of your shell a little bit more. We should do this sort of thing more often. It would do us both good."
  193. >"Thanks, Anon."
  194. >You look down, just to notice a very relaxed pony close her eyes, and nuzzle into your leg, as the sun goes down.
  195. >You lean back, and let out a yawn, as you watch the sun set in the distance.
  196. >Stompy has started to open up a bit more, you're getting diabetes from the amount of cuteness she sometimes emits, and to be honest, just having her around is generally improving your life.
  197. >You close your eyes, with a smile on your face, and fall asleep in the comforting shade of a tree, with your best friend.
  198. >Today has been perfect.
  199.
  200. [CHAPTER 5]
  201.
  202. >You are Anon
  203. "Jesus Christ, my head hu- Oh."
  204. >You have just woken up, to find yourself under a tree, with a snoring fuzzy purple ball of fur in your lap.
  205. >It seems that her little plastic horn has slid down her face, and is currently sitting off-centre, on the top of her head.
  206. >Diabeetus
  207. >Holy shit, what time is it? You look down at your watch, "07:43am"
  208. >Phew, looks like the sun is just peeking over the horizon, we're in luck. Still, doesn't mean we should lounge around too long, p0nies will start flooding here soon, and I doubt that Stompy is going to take too well to that.
  209. >You lightly rock her to try and wake her up.
  210. "Stomp, wake up, we need to get out of here before anyp0ny shows up"
  211. >"Five.. More.. Minutes.."
  212. >Oh no you don't, you bastard, I practically invented that excuse, you're not getting past me that easily.
  213. "Stompy, get up, you lazy mare, it's almost 8am, the park will be opening soon, and you won't get a chance to slip away before p0nies spot you, unless we go now."
  214. >That made her ears perk up.
  215. >"Aww.. Fine."
  216. >You can't help but stifle a laugh as she stands up, oblivious to the horn creeping across her head, and the state her mane is in.
  217. >"What's so funny?"
  218. >You cannot contain the giggles any longer.
  219. "Your horn."
  220. >You point up to her head in the direction her horn is pointing
  221. >She responds to you by turning tomato red, and throwing a light insult your way.
  222. >"S-shut up, Anon."
  223. "Eh, don't take it to heart, we both look like shit, we best be off anyway, the park opens at eight."
  224.
  225. >You're both currently walking through the empty park, heading for the nearest fence to hop over to freedom.
  226. >Suddenly, Stompy pokes you in the leg, with her muzzle.
  227. >"Anon?"
  228. "Stomp?"
  229. >"Thanks for last night.. It means a lot.. T-to know that s-somep0ny is well.. Trying.. I guess.."
  230. "It's what friends are for, you silly bastard. I couldn't let you sit in that room wasting away day, and night. It was killing me seeing you like that."
  231. >"I'm sorry, it's just.. You know what I can be like.."
  232. "Yeah, more than most. We aren't too different, really. If you want the truth, last night was the first time I ever went out for "fun" since coming here. I spent most of my time in-doors, until I met you, of course."
  233. >"Why?"
  234. >You drop your head slightly, as you respond to her question.
  235. "I never really had much in common with anybody around here. Being from another universe and all."
  236. >"I'm sorry, Anon."
  237. "Na, it's fine, shit happens. Very unexplainable shit, don't get me wrong, but shit none the less. I don't even care about going "home", really, and I never have. I didn't have much in common with anyone there, either. If anything, I'm glad I wound up here, I wouldn't have met you, otherwise."
  238. >You ruffle her mane, as she looks up and smiles at you.
  239. >"Thanks, Anon."
  240. >You feel her nuzzle your leg.
  241. >D'aww.
  242. "Any time."
  243.
  244. >You can see the fence a few metres away.
  245. "Right, I'll boost you over, and hop over after you, got it?"
  246. >"Gotcha'."
  247. >You scoop her up under your arm and push her up over the fence.
  248. "There, you're over, me next."
  249. >As you leap over the fence, your shoe gets stuck between the two top bars, and you fall over, face first, and land in the dirt on the other side.
  250. >Oh God, that look on Stompy's face.
  251. "Don't you dare.."
  252. >"Pff.. N-need a h-hoof, A- Pahaha"
  253. "Hardy, ha, ha, very funny."
  254. >You pick yourself up, and brush off most of the crap covering your pants, and tshirt, as Stompy looks at you, trying to stifle her laughter. It isn't working.
  255. >Clothes of your size, and shape don't come cheap, at all. Good thing that you stocked up on them a while back, when you had some savings.
  256.
  257. >You and your little socially-anxious companion are almost home, just another block to go. Thank God that not many p0nies are awake, yet, you've only came across five, or so, on your way back.
  258. >Nowhere around here seems to open up shop until 08:10am, which is pretty insane to you, but hey, I suppose it's only right, considering that some of them are open until midnight.
  259. >Still doesn't stop poor Stompy from asking you to slow your pace, so she can hide behind you, whenever somep0ny passes by.
  260. >You don't mind too much, you're in no rush to go anywhere, anyway.
  261.
  262. >"A-Anon, c-can you carry me the rest of the way..?"
  263. >Wut
  264. >Weird request, but you comply.
  265. "Yeah, sure, why not. I did wake you up earlier than you're used to."
  266. >You pick her up, so her head is resting on your shoulder, and continue walking home.
  267. >You feel her let out a deep breath, and mutter something, before saying:
  268. >"T-Thanks.."
  269. >God, her awkwardness melts your heart, sometimes.
  270.
  271. >By the time you get home, the lazy little fluff-ball is asleep. You can't even come close to being mad at her though, especially under these circumstances, you did wake her up at stupid-o-clock, and throw her over a fence. She should wake up in an hour, or two, anyway.
  272. >You walk to your kitchen, after plopping her down on the couch, to make yourself some toast for breakfast.
  273. >As you stand there, eating, you think to yourself.
  274. >It's new years eve soon, and you know what that means.
  275. >Fireworks, events, and other fun stuff that falls under the "NYE" category. Maybe you and Stompy can go and watch the fireworks together, it'll get you both out of the house for a few hours, and do you some good.
  276. >Ponyville has an impressive show, every year, and until now, you've had no one to spend it with.
  277. >This year, though, things are different, and you intend to make the most of it.
  278.
  279. [CHAPTER 6 - FINAL]
  280.
  281. >You are Anon, and tonight is New Years Eve.
  282. >The past few years you have just spent New Years Eve on your own, drinking yourself to death.
  283. >This year, though, you intend to spend the night with your best friend, Stompy.
  284. >You told her your plan when she woke up after your night in the park two weeks back, and she didn't exactly take it well, but she didn't attempt to kill you, so that's a start.
  285. "Stomp, grab your stuff, we're leaving in ten minutes."
  286. >You hear some stumbling from up stairs, followed by the sound of someone leaping onto a bed.
  287. >God damn it, what the hell is she planning to use as an excuse this time.
  288.
  289. >You trudge up the stairs to Stompy's room, and push open her door.
  290. >"*cough* Anon.. I don't feel well.. Do we have to go out tonight? *cough cough*"
  291. >She's struggling in her efforts to look sick, and you can't help but laugh internally at how horribly she's doing at it.
  292. "Stomp, you're trying this on me? Really? Of all people? I live with you. I know when you're bullshitting me."
  293. >All you get in reply are some forced moans of pain, and over-dramatic "why me's".
  294. >Idea.
  295. "If you ARE as sick as you say you are, I suppose I could let you stay home."
  296. >Her eyes go wide, and she throws herself out of bed at you, and starts bouncing on the bed, while giggling.
  297. >"REALLY? THANK YOU, ANON, THANK YOU!"
  298. >Oh God, the way she acts is sometimes adorable. You hate to do this, but you're going to have to piss on her bonfire.
  299. "Well, that was a speedy recovery, if I've ever seen one."
  300. >She looks back at you wide eyed and her big smile fades, as soon as she sees your grin.
  301. >"I - I.. Wha-.. Damn it, Anon.. Why do you do this to me?"
  302. "You know why. Get your stuff, we're going."
  303. >She groans, and drags herself off of the bed, and stomps over to her closet to get one of her saddle bags.
  304. >Her temper tantrums can be cute, sometimes.
  305.
  306. >You, and Stompy head down stairs.
  307. >You sit on the bottom step, and start slipping your shoes on, and Stompy sits on the floor facing away from you, as she puts on another pair of her slippers.
  308. >Shit, she looks uneasy.
  309. "Stompy, if it works best for you, we'll sit out of the way of everyp0ny else. I know this isn't easy for you. Hell, it isn't easy for me, either. I dislike crowds, as well."
  310. >You see her ears flick around, to listen to you.
  311. >"Oh.. I.. Thank you, Anon. I just.. Yeah.. I'm sorry."
  312. >She hangs her head, and starts sniffling.
  313. >Well, shit.
  314. >You tug your last shoe on, and walk over to her, placing your hand on her back, as you sit down next to her. You can't force her to go if she's feeling this bad about it.
  315. "Hey, hey, what's this about? I thought that going out tonight would be fun, for the pair of us? If you're this upset, we don't have to go."
  316. >Her sniffling turns into crying.
  317. >Well done, Anon, don't you feel great with yourself, you fa-
  318. >Brain, I swear to God.
  319.
  320. >You scoop her up in your arms, and carry her to the living room.
  321. >You sit down on the couch while she rests in your arms.
  322. "Stomp, what's wrong? You have your moments, but you haven't ever done anything like this since living here."
  323. >"I-It's just.. *sniff*.. T-This is my first time s-spending the New Year w-with anyone else.. *sniff" A-and I don't want to.. Well.. I guess.. I don't want to go out and ruin it for you.."
  324. "Eh? Why would you think that you were ruining anything?"
  325. >"Because maybe you *sniff* wanted to spend tonight.. Like.. At events.. *sniff* A-and doing fun stuff.. I-I just can't.."
  326.
  327. "Stomp, this is me we're talking about, captain killjoy, I hate fun."
  328. >She laughs, lightly.
  329. "Besides, I told you, you're the only p0ny I ever go anywhere with. I never go out anywhere for recreational reasons without you. You're too fun to be around."
  330. >"T-Thanks, Anon.. I just sometimes worry that I *sniff* h-hold you ba-"
  331. >You start to tear up, and cut her off by putting your arms around her, and pulling her into a tight hug.
  332. "Don't ever say that, all right? You don't hold me back. You do the complete opposite."
  333. >You sniff, and wipe your sleeve across your eyes, before looking her in the face.
  334. "Before you came along, I did nothing but sit and mope day in, day out, feeling sorry for myself. You just being here makes my life better, and I love you for it."
  335. >Her ears flick back up, and a small, but worn out smile appears on her face.
  336. >"You're the best, Anon."
  337. >She hugs you tightly, and pecks your cheek.
  338. >"O-oh.. U-um.."
  339. >She flushes red, and starts poking the couch, with her front hoof.
  340. >This mare is going to give you diabetes, or give you a heart attack, you swear to God, Lucifer, Gandhi, Celestia, or whatever higher being gives a shit about your blood sugar in this magical land of small horses.
  341. >You simply smile back at her, and ruffle her mane.
  342. "C'mon, let's get out of here. We have some colourful explosives to watch."
  343.
  344. >At this point, the pair of you are about three quarters of the way there.
  345. >You glance down at your watch: 11:40pm, dead on.
  346. >The show starts at 12am, so you have plenty of time to reach your destination, your overhanging tree, in the park.
  347.
  348. >You have just arrived at the fence the two of you had to hop over, in order to make your escape, the last time you were here.
  349. >Like last time, you scooped Stompy up, and boosted her up over the fence, before jumping over there yourself.
  350. >Bastard, you caught your pant leg on the pointed top, the rip isn't too bad, luckily. You could have seriously fucked your leg up, there.
  351. >Note To Self: Find another way to break into the local park.
  352. >As the two of you walk through the park, you can see the hill that your, and now Stompy's tree sits on top of.
  353. >You glance down at your watch, again, keeping your eyes on the time: 11:56pm
  354. >Time to get moving.
  355. "Stomp, the display starts soon, come on, hop on my back, and we can make a run for it."
  356. >"O-oh.. Okay, Anon..!"
  357. >You hear her squeak, as she jumps onto your back.
  358. >D'aww.
  359. >"Mush!"
  360. "Watch it."
  361. >A toothy grin, and giggles are the only form of a response you receive, before setting back off towards your destination.
  362.
  363. >Good God, this hill is killing your leg muscles, but you can't afford to slow down.
  364. >After two minutes, you've reached the top, and just in time, too: 11:59pm, just another minute to go.
  365. >The pair of you sit in your spot, and get comfortable, ready to watch the display begin.
  366. >Stompy rests herself in your lap, with her back against the front of you, so she can rest her head on your chest. You just have your arms wrapped around the lower half of her body, to hold her in place.
  367.
  368. >In a matter of seconds, the sky is lit up, in an array of colours.
  369. >You hear the loud whizzes, and bangs in the distance, as the fireworks fly into the air, and explode into fountains of light.
  370. >You can't help but look down to see the calm, happy look on Stompy's face, as she watches the show.
  371. >She looks so cute like this. It's rare that she gets out, but when she does, you can't help but notice things about her that you sometimes take for granted when back at the house.
  372. >As you were lost in your train of thought, the show must have started to die down. Fireworks are still being shot off, but they're nowhere near as jaw dropping as the first bunch.
  373. >Stompy slowly looks back up at you with the most relaxed expression imaginable, before resting her head back into your chest, closing her eyes.
  374. >You hear her quietly say something, as she lets out a breath.
  375. >"I love you, Anon."
  376. >In response, you pull her closer, and lean back, before saying:
  377. "I love you too, Stompy."
