Work on it

Expiry: Never

  1. You’re thrown head first into a metal cage, one clearly not designed to fit your body.
  2. You don’t know where you are. You don’t know what’s happening. Your heart is beating out of your chest, breathing heavily as your entire body heaves to fill and empty your lungs with air. Breathing hurts, your throat stings- the fur of your cheeks are matted with tears. You must’ve been crying.
  3. You look in the direction you were tossed from, the light of the outdoors contrasting the darkness of… wherever you were, only the outline of your assailant visible for a moment, before they slam the door shut.
  4. Enshrouded in darkness, the adrenaline is still pumping through you, but since that cage is bolted pretty good, you take a moment…
  5. …and all of the pain begins to sink in. Your legs hurt, your wings hurt, parts of your body you didn’t know could hurt, /hurt/. You weakly brush your ragged, messy green mane out of the way and begin to look across yourself. You notice bruising, dark purple and contrasting your light blue coat- your wings are devoid of most of their feathers- purposely plucked, clipped or ripped away to keep you from flying, it would seem.
  6.
  7. “Why…?” You croak out pathetically, before weakly ramming against the cage. You ram again and again, but the door won’t swing open and free you from this prison like you had hoped. Then, you jumped back and pressed yourself against the back wall in fear- loud rattling emitting from… wherever you are.
  8. The sound of an engine starting, the whole structure beginning to shake as the engine chugged and the vehicle started to move…
  9.
  10. You were being taken.
  11.
  12. Why? Why why WHY? Where were you even being taken from- what was happening, why can’t you remember anything before /right NOW/?
  13.
  14. Your little pony mind spun in a mix of fear, adrenaline and sheer confusion, your breathing got worse as you thought of what to do, and eventually, you mustered up the strength and courage to start /ramming that damn cage door again./
  15.
  16. You ram your small, fragile frame into the cage door several times, and you swear you felt the cage nudge forward a little with each ram, but that could’ve just been the general jostling of the cages from the twists and turns your pony-napper was taking. Seconds stretched to minutes, minutes into hours- it felt hopeless, but after some time- your cage toppled from its high-shelf and plummeted to the ground. With a loud crash, your cage did indeed break- but so did your wing, and maybe something else…
  17.
  18. You cry out in agony, nothing more than a pained, whisper-scream as your throat is already strained from everything else. And worst of all?
  19.
  20. Your cage landed door first. You still have a cage on top of you. Good job. How were you going to get out of here? You can’t even open the back door.
  21.
  22. You lay there in tears for what felt like hours to you, but in reality, it had only been about thirty minutes. It would’ve lasted longer, if not for the screeching of tyres and the sound of people yelling. You curl up in a ball more and just sob to yourself, ears folded downwards and pinned to your skull as you wish for a better situation than the one you’re currently stuck in.
  23.
  24. Time passes by and you can’t help but begin to wonder why the truck… van… thing wasn’t moving anymore. Were you already where they needed you to be? Stopped for gas? Hiding from the cops? You consider screaming for help, but the sting in your throat that comes as you inhale to scream, reminds you…
  25.
  26. You can’t.
  27.
  28. You whimper in agony and right as you curl in on yourself again, the door swings open, light flooding into this hellhole you were stuck in once more.
  29.
  30. You lift your head as tears pour from your eyes, squinting as you look out at whoever opened the door…
  31.
  32. “H-Hey, HEY- this guy had one back here! It’s not looking good!” Came some sort of… young sounding voice, a boy- maybe a teen?
  33.
  34. You can’t do anything else but lay there, a shivering pile of pegasus that was wracked with agony and confusion, the adrenaline completely out of your system, now.
  35.
  36. You’re tired. You can’t move, even if you weren’t in agony. The door swings open wider and another silhouette is visible. Hands reach in and pull the cage off of you, pulling you from the mangled prison, and scooping you up into their careful, gentle grasp. You lay limp, it’s all you can do, shivering against them as you keep crying. The tears won’t stop.
  37.
  38. “It’s alright, we got you… it’s ok buddy…” soothed your rescuer, right before you passed out in his arms.
