6.
>Be Anon.
-
7.
>Applebloom has been studying with Zecora a few times a week.
-
8.
>Her home isn't that deep into the Everfree, but it still worries Applejack to send her sister on her own.
-
9.
>Usually Applejack takes her, but something about a leak and "not nearly enough buckets" means she's been too busy.
-
10.
>So today you are escorting her.
-
11.
"Hey anon, it's this way!"
-
12.
>Applebloom leads you past the left side of a rock.
-
13.
>Your only job is to pick up the filly and run if a monster attacks, Applebloom knows the path herself.
-
14.
>Which is good because you've never been to Zecora's before.
-
15.
"Uh, and then this way."
-
16.
>Applebloom leads you past the left side of another rock.
-
17.
>A monster shouldn't attack this close to the forests edge, but you're still alert anticipating your first monster encounter since arriving in equestria.
-
18.
"And I think it's this way?"
-
19.
>Applebloom leads you past the right side of a familiar looking rock.
-
20.
>You take a moment to stop staring down every bush and estimate you've been in the forest for about an hour. That means you should be arriving in around -50 minutes.
-
21.
>You ask Applebloom where you're going.
-
22.
"To Zecora's house of course! You cross the river, follow the rocks, avoid the patch of poison joke, and then you're there!"
-
23.
>And how many rocks is that?
-
24.
"It's tw- I mean three! Three rocks!"
-
25.
>You spot your old friend the rock up ahead.
-
26.
"Uh. I mean four?"
-
27.
>You tell Applebloom that you're taking the lead and going back to Ponyville, turn around to retrace your steps.
-
28.
>...
-
29.
"Hey Anon?"
-
30.
>You ask Applebloom what's up.
-
31.
"It's getting kind of dark."
-
32.
>You were trying not to draw attention to it, but she's right.
-
33.
>If you keep going in this direction, you're sure you'll eventually reach the river. It won't lead you to where you left from Sweet Apple Acres, but if you follow it to Fluttershy's cottage, you'll at least know where you are, and she can fly to tell Applejack you're alright.
-
34.
>But you don't know how much longer that will take, and if you'll be able to keep traveling in a straight line once the sun sets and you can't tell which way is west anymore.
-
35.
>You try to reassure Applebloom, but she notices that you're walking faster now
-
36.
>There's a clearing in the trees where flowers grow. You can't quite tell what color they are under the long shadows.
-
37.
>They make a squishing sound as you march through them, you with your boots and apple bloom with her hooves.
-
38.
>Applebloom is a little out of breath. You contemplate carrying her so you can keep the pace.
-
39.
>After awhile you hear the sound of the river.
-
40.
>Following it, you get out of the Everfree proper and can finally relax for a bit. No monster attacks or poisonous plants this far out.
-
41.
"Huff. Huff. I'm so sorry I got you lost Anon."
-
42.
>You tell her it's alright. She's safe now, and it shouldn't be much farther.
-
43.
>You're not as sure about your own safety though. Applejack is going to want to kill you.
-
44.
>Future Anon's problem. You did good today.
-
45.
"Anon?"
-
46.
>You ask what is up.
-
47.
"I... I feel a little weird. Kind of fuzzy and cold."
-
48.
>She's probably tired. You suggest resting at fluttershy's overnight.
-
49.
"Thanks..."
-
50.
>She trots along the riverside with you nervously.
-
51.
"I don't think that was it though... My hooves are feeling mighty strange."
-
52.
>Okay, this might be something serious.
-
53.
>The Everfree has toxic plants. Did she step in something?
-
54.
>You ask to look at her hooves. She sits down and extends one to you.
-
55.
"Wait, Were my legs always that short?!"
-
56.
>No they weren't.
-
57.
"A-Anon! What are we going to do? They're still shrinking!"
-
58.
>You have no idea what could be causing this. You have to do something though.
-
59.
>You can't see anything, but there may be poison on her still. You tell her to try washing it off in the river.
-
60.
>She hesitantly nods and approaches the bank.
-
61.
>You try to help hold her steady as she descends in. Her coat is moist and slimy. How long has it been like that?!
-
62.
>She holds her breath and dunks herself, and you use your sleave to try to wipe off the goo.
-
63.
>There's just more and more, it's like it's getting worse!
-
64.
>Applebloom gasps.
-
65.
"Anon... They're gone..."
-
66.
>You ask what's gone.
-
67.
"My hooves! They've disappeared!"
-
68.
>You hoist her out of the river to check. Her coat is slippery and smooth, without a trace of fur.
-
69.
>And she was right. Instead of hooves on her underside she has a belly like a slug.
-
70.
"What has happened to me!?"
-
71.
>She's frantically looking over her body, her neck stretching unnaturally.
-
72.
>Unnaturally for a horse at least.
-
73.
>She starts to slowly slide across the ground.
-
74.
"It feels so weird! I'm so squishy! Slimy! Gross!"
-
75.
>She inches towards you and looks up.
-
76.
"A-anon! I'm scared! How am I going to turn back?! What if I can't turn back?!"
-
77.
>You need to tell her something, but you have no answers. There is nothing you can do and she can tell you're scared too.
-
78.
>She presses her head against your leg, her thick mucus sticking to your pants.
-
79.
>"It feels so cold..."
-
80.
>There is one thing.
-
81.
>You crouch down and hug Applebloom.
-
82.
>The breeze and the extra slime chill your body, but you can handle it.
-
83.
>She doesn't have hooves to hug back, so you hold her extra tight to make up for it.
-
84.
>You ask if she feels better.
-
85.
>"Sniff. A little bit."
-
86.
>You tell her you'll get to Fluttershy's and with everyone help, you'll figure out what has happened to her. You're sure of it.
-
87.
>You feel her nod her head against your chest.
-
88.
>You ask if you can pick her up and carry her.
-
89.
>She nods again.
-
90.
>You try to carefully lift her, and hold her facing over your shoulder.
-
91.
>It feels like she doesn't have bones anymore. She probably realized that before you.
-
92.
>Better not to draw attention to that, things already must be really strange for her.
-
93.
>You hold her as steady as you can while pressing on to the cottage.
-
94.
-
95.
>Be Fluttershy.
-
96.
>Hours earlier, the sun is still up.
-
97.
>You're knitting a scarf when a loud knock coming from your door startles you.
-
98.
>You've barely touched the knob when Rainbow Dash throws it open and flies inside shouting.
-
99.
"Fluttershy! Anon and Applebloom went into the Everfree forest and haven't come back yet!"
-
100.
>"Oh no, but it's almost sundown!"
-
101.
"Exactly! Applejack said they were going to see Zecora. I already asked her, and she said they never made it to her hut! Can you help search while I go tell Twilight?"
-
102.
>"Of course!"
-
103.
"Great!"
-
104.
>Rainbow flies off towards the library, and you fly out at a much slower pace, locking your door behind you.
-
105.
-
106.
>Be anon, back to the present.
-
107.
>You are cold, tired, and very dirty, but you've made it.
-
108.
>The slug resting on your shoulder has closed her eyes.
-
109.
>You balance her on one arm, not that difficult since she's so sticky, and knock against the door.
-
110.
>...
-
111.
>You knock again. Applebloom groans and starts to wiggle against you as she wakes up.
-
112.
>You put together the puzzle. If fluttershy had found you, it would have been very helpful, but given that she's not home now, things are a bit more difficult.
