>It’s winter in Equestria.
-
2.
>And holy shit are you freezing.
-
3.
>You unfortunately underestimated how cold the ponies make it here.
-
4.
>The good news is that the farm has a fair bit fewer chores to do in the winter.
-
5.
>The bad news is you’re spending most of your spare time huddled either in bed or on the couch with the biggest, heaviest blanket you could find.
-
6.
>It’s taking having all your clothes on and a blanket wrapped around you just to keep warm.
-
7.
>Goddamn you miss air conditioning.
-
8.
>You already went to see Rarity about making you some winter clothes, but that’s going to take at least a week before she’s finished.
-
9.
>Now you’re kicking yourself for not getting that done ahead of time.
-
10.
>You really aren’t looking forward to braving that walk to and from town again.
-
11.
>At least your little cocoon of warmth is surprisingly comfy.
-
12.
>You’re completely wrapped up in the blanket, even your head is tucked within it.
-
13.
>You guess it isn’t so bad, all things considered.
-
14.
>Still, you’re eager to be able to do things outside the farmhouse again.
-
15.
>Your meditations are interrupted by the front door suddenly opening.
-
16.
>Luckily you’re far enough away that the wave of cold air that’s surely blasting in right now is unable to penetrate the heavy woolen layers that make up the walls of your lair.
-
17.
>And the door thankfully closes again just as quickly as it had opened.
-
18.
>A set of hooves comes clopping up to your sanctuary on the couch.
-
19.
>”How ya holdin’ up sug?”
-
20.
>You peak your eyes out from your fortress of wool.
-
21.
“Snow Miser ain’t reaching my ass in here.
-
22.
>Applejack chuckles, looking at your antics with a fond smile.
-
23.
>”At least y’all are managing alright.”
-
24.
>She sits herself down next to you.
-
25.
>”I’m sorry sugarcube, I should’a taken you to Rarity for some nice ‘n warm clothes before winter started.”
-
26.
>You stick your hand out from the blanket and pet her neck.
-
27.
“It’s alright, I’m the one who should have thought of it anyway.”
-
28.
>You sigh as you lean against her.
-
29.
“Guess I was just used to the mild winters we always had back where I’m from, I didn’t really consider the fact I might need some winter clothes.”
-
30.
-
31.
>”Still, wish I thought of it. I was so preoccupied with makin’ sure we had enough food stored up that it totally slipped my mind how you ain’t got a coat that grows out.”
-
32.
>Finding out the ponies had to actually stock up for winter gave you some whiplash when you first heard it.
-
33.
>Yea, lots of stuff still done the old fashion way around here.
-
34.
>Thankfully, AJ had the foresight to plant a bunch of extra vegetables in the garden months ago.
-
35.
>Plus she had plenty of money for some extra meat thanks to the increased cider sales this year.
-
36.
>Thank God you have a pony family to stay with, you would have actually starved if you were on your own
-
37.
“Don’t worry about it, it’s just a few more days of being huddled under blankets and I can start going outside like a normal person again.”
-
38.
>”Is it cozy in there?”
-
39.
>You nod your head, though she probably can’t see it.
-
40.
“More than you’d probably expect, yea.
-
41.
>She’s silent for a moment before leaning down to you.
-
42.
>”I got an idea. Open up that blanket.”
-
43.
>Fabric in hand, you extend your arm out in the most movie Count Dracula manner that you can.
-
44.
>With your bastion of warmth and comfort now open, Applejack wasted no time in shuffling her way inside.
-
45.
>She settles down in your lap, putting her hooves around you, pulling you close and setting her head on your shoulder.
-
46.
>Each exhale of her breath washes over your ear, warming the chilled flesh.
-
47.
>”There. Figure I can just keep you warm myself ‘til Rarity finishes up those new clothes for you.”
-
48.
>You let your hands sink into her thick coat.
-
49.
>God they get so pleasantly fluffy in the winter.
-
50.
“I’m not opposed to that.”
-
51.
>She hums happily.
-
52.
>”I figured you wouldn’t.”
-
53.
-
54.
>You sit intertwined, basking in each others warmth.
-
55.
>It’s definitely warmer than sitting in here by yourself was.
-
56.
>Being so close to Applejack always makes you feel warm inside already anyway.
-
57.
>After a while, Applejack pokes the side of your face with her muzzle.
-
58.
>”So – what kinda songs do your folks listen to this time of year?
-
59.
>Popular winter songs?
-
60.
>Well Hearthswarming is already passed, so a Christmas song wouldn’t be very topical.
-
61.
>What other kind of songs do people listen to in winter?
-
62.
>As you go through the mental list, you suddenly think up one which might be perfect for the situation.
-
63.
“Well, there’s one that could be pretty fitting.”
-
64.
>AJ’s ears swivel in curiosity.
-
65.
>”Let’s hear it then.”
-
66.
>You always get a little self conscious singing around AJ, even if she says you sing fine.
-
67.
>Still, your desire to not disappoint her outweighs your nervousness.
-
68.
>You take a deep breath and prepare your best crooner voice.
- 69.
