>you've been in Equestria long enough that it's starting to feel normal to you, but seeing her dart through the sky reminds you of just how magical this world is

>and sure enough, as you approach the field you tilt your head upwards and see a dot up in the sky split a cloud in two

>each segment deforms in her wake, some vapor dragged behind her and giving her a visible contrail as she twists and dives down

>by the time you can see her clearly the trail's gone and she slows as she approaches you

>"Right on time!.. or, well, maybe a little late, I dunno," she comments while circling around you, giving a quick glance to the sun to try and gauge what time it is

>the moment she's out of view she bumps into you from behind, pushing you further out into the field

>"Just get into position, I've got a really cool trick I wanna try! Stand riiight..."

>she flits from one spot to another, giving taps to your shoulders, back and chest to make you adjust your position

>"...there! Okay, perfect." she hovers in front of you for a moment, taking in a deep breath before turning away from you and starting to climb

>she levels out only a couple hundred feet above the ground and a little further than that away from you before she twists back in your direction

>usually when Rainbow Dash does that it means she wants to do a trick where she comes in for a landing so you brace yourself a little

>for now though she just picks up speed before rolling just enough to the side that arching her back allows her to begin forming a loop

>at first it's a slow, large roll, each loop still bringing her in your direction at roughly the same speed as before, but as she gets closer the loops tighten and more momentum shifts to that vertical movement

>by the time she's just above you the barrel roll's given way to a purely vertical loop, her wings beating hard with every inversion, keeping that perfect circular shape to her maneuver

>"Thanks, I rrreally need that after that trick..." she mumbles, her chin resting against your chest as she winces when you find the sore spots

>"Now that I think about it, maybe I shouldn't do that one for real... if I landed on somepony I'd be in HUGE trouble..."

>those little contented noises from her get quieter and the dopey satisfied smile she has after a good trick looks less confident than usual

>her eyes barely open, meeting yours before she shuts them again

>"It's because... I dunno why it is, but I always try harder when you're here, so... thanks."

>"Anyways! I've taken a long enough break, gotta keep practicing! You know how it is!"

>a firm flap brings her up into the air and she looks down on you, clearly hesitating for a moment

>"...We'll talk after, okay?" she cracks a smile through the nerves before shooting into the sky where she belongs

>you don't see her do any particular trick for the next minute or two, she's clearly just thrashing through the sky until the g-forces get rid of the fluster for her

>but it's okay, you know that once she's tired and ready to land you two will talk

>and based on the fact that she's staying right by you rather than flying off past the horizon and hiding for the rest of the day, it'll be a good one
