Expiry: Never

  1. >”Hey, Anonymous!”
  2. >You spin around wildly, looking for the source of the call.
  3. >”Up here big guy!” A memorable raspy voice shouts from above you.
  4. >Looking up into the sky you spot Rainbow Dash hovering just a few feet directly over your head, A huge grin stretching across her muzzle.
  5. >”Catch!” She exclaims, sending a large bag crashing down on top of you.
  6. >As you recover from the shock of having random junk dumped on you she flutters down and lands next to you.
  7. “God Rainbow, what’s in here?”
  8. >You move to unzip the bag, only to be slapped away by Rainbow’s hoof, “Come on, we don’t have time!” She shouts, grabbing your arm and attempting to pull you through town.
  9. >You stand your ground, while any shenanigans the two of you get into are always good fun you need to be at work in ten minutes.
  10. “Dash what are you doing?”
  11. >She stops pulling, turning to look at you, “Trust me Anon, now come on!”
  12. >With a heavy sigh you follow her prismatic tail as she leads you through the bustling streets of Ponyville.
  13. “Dash I’ve got work.”
  14. >She ignores you, still flying through the streets, just slow enough that you can keep up without running.
  15. >”Come on Anon, we’re almost there.”
  16. >Almost where? The only thing in this part of town is the train station.
  17. >You look to the bag you’re carrying.
  18. “What are you planning?”
  19. >She turns around, hovering in front of you, the grin still on her face, “It’s a surprise, come on!”
  20. >You’re not worried about Rainbow leading you astray, she always seems to anyway, more so about losing your job.
  21. >It was hard enough to actually convince the ponies to even give you a chance, let alone work for them.
  22. >The sky blue ego with wings realises you still haven’t moved, turning back to you she motions for you to follow.
  23. “Rainbow I have work, I can’t lose this job.”
  24. >Mr Breezy is a stickler for being on time, showing up late means you’ll get an earful.
  25. >Not showing up at all will mean you won’t need to bother showing up again.
  26. >”Anon don’t be stupid, would I ever let you lose our job?”
  27. “I sure as hell hope not.”
  28. >Rainbow rolls her eyes, “I’ll take that as a no then, now come on!”
  29. >You glance back towards Ponyville, questioning whether or not you should follow your best friend.
  30. >With a lump in your chest you turn and follow Rainbow, praying to god this won’t fuck up in your face.
  31. >She leads you into the train station, and you follow her up to the ticket booth.
  32. >”Uh.. two tickets to Los Pegasus thanks.”
  33. >The pony working the booth grunts, “60 bits.”
  34. >”Right uh…” Rainbow trails off looking into her saddlebags, then proceeds to look at you for help.
  35. “Really Rainbow, You couldn’t plan ahead?”
  36. >She rolls her eyes, “Dude just cover this for me, I got the bits on the table at home.”
  37. “Fine, but you’re going to go get them while I wait.” You tell her, passing the mare behind the counter six, ten bit coins.
  38. >In return you’re handed two tickets, one for you and one for the mare who still needs to pay you for hers.
  39. “Well, what are you waiting for, get!” you shoo her off into the sky.
  40. >”Dude I can’t make it home and back in time!” She complains, much to your displeasure.
  41. “Oh, is Rainbow Dash admitting she is too slow huh?” You question, knowing just how to push her buttons, “And she tells me she is a future Wonderbolt.”
  42. >”Like you can talk, you’re like the definition of slow!” Rainbow defends, getting flustered at your teasing.
  43. “Yeah well why don’t you prove it?” you ask, sitting down on one of the many wooden seats
  44. >”Maybe I will!”
  45. “Good, go on then.”
  46. >”Fine!” She shouts, disappearing in the blink of the eyes, only her rainbow contrail any indication she was once there.
  47. >You grin to yourself as you lean back into the seat, like fuck you were going to pay for her.
  48.
  49. >Rainbow is barely gone a minute before arriving next to you in wave of wind and colour.
  50. >”Told you I’m the best!” She boasts.
  51. “Yep, guess you are, so… my bits?” you ask.
  52. >Her smile falls as she realises she was outsmarted, “Right here dude.” She tells you, holding the coins in her hoof.
  53. >You smile at her, taking only three of the six coins, much to the mares confusion.
  54. >”Uh… you don’t want the rest?” She asks.
  55. “Why, You’re only paying for one ticket aren’t you?”
  56. >”Yeah, but…” Dash pauses as she looks for proper words, “Whatever, thanks I guess” she tells you, before placing the remaining bits in her saddlebag.
  57. “So, Los Pegasus?” You ask, hoping to get some answers.
  58. >”Yup!” Rainbow exclaims, nodding excitedly.
  59. “Why?”
  60. >”It’s a surprise, Hey don’t look like that you’ll love it!” She shouts, lightly punching your arm to help ease your worried expression.
  61. “So what about my job, am I going to have a job to come back to?”
  62. >”Dude I told you I’ve got it all sorted, listen you trust me right?”
  63. “Yeah, don’t know why though.”
  64. >Her face turns into a frown, “What do you mean you don’t know why?” She asks.
  65. “Because every time you ask me to trust you it ends up with at least one of us regretting it,” You tell her.
  66. >She does a small backflip, “Yeah, but we always have fun right?”
  67. >Well you certainly can’t deny that.
  68. “I guess” you mumble.
  69. >”I can’t hear you” Dash sings.
  70. >You look up and grin at the vibrant mare.
  71. “Yes, you’re right, Rainbow Dash is always right!”
  72. >She beams at your words, “And don’t you forget it!”
  73. “Like you would let me forget anyway,” you say, ruffling her mane.
  74. >The prismatic pegasus floats down into the seat next to you, “You’re going to love this.”
  75. “Well with how excited you are I’m guessing it has got to be Wonderbolts related?” you ask.
  76. >”Nope, though that would be pretty awesome” she says, placing a hoof on her chin in thought.
  77. “So what is it then?”
  78. >”Fine only because you asked,” Rainbow pauses for a moment a sly grin forming on her muzzle, “Actually no you can wait and you know, be patient, Like you’re always telling me to.”
  79. >You groan and throw your face into your open hands, much to the amusement of the brash pony.
  80. >Her raspy laugh of joy fills your ears, only to be silenced by the shrill whistle of the train as it pulls into the station.
  81.
  82. >You stand up and stretch, various joints popping in your body.
  83. >Boarding the train behind Rainbow Dash you follow her through various carriages, waiting for her to find one suitable.
  84. >Each car you pass through garners you odd stares, along with looks of curiosity from the younger ponies.
  85. >Being such a common face in Ponyville means it is rare to get treated like some monster anymore.
  86. >On the train though, where ponies are travelling from other towns makes it a lot more frequent.
  87. >Just the general fear deep beneath the pony’s eyes as the watch you remind you of your first few months in Ponyville.
  88. >It makes you glad that time has passed; now you are treated like any other resident of Ponyville.
  89. >Not paying attention you bump into Rainbows rear end, causing her to squeak.
  90. >”Anon, watch where you’re going!” She whispers harshly, before sliding into the seat next to her.
  91. “Sorry Dash, I was just thinking.”
  92. >”About?” She asks, trying to press you to speak your mind.
  93. “Don’t worry about it, it wasn’t important.”
  94. >”You weren’t thinking about all those mares you’re going to try to pick up in Los Pegasus were you?” Dash asks slyly, knowing full well how secure you keep your pony virginity.
  95. “You’d just love me to say yes, wouldn’t you?” You say, ruffling her mane, “Just so you’ll be able to tease me constantly, right?”
  96. >The action causes her to get flustered, “Cut it out Anon, you’re messing up my mane!” Rainbow exclaims, using her hooves to try to get it back into its usual style.
  97. “Yeah right, like you ever care about your mane any other time.”
  98. >Your response elicits a giggle from the pegasus as she slumps back into her seat, preparing for the long trip ahead.
  99.
  100. >The countryside flies by in a blur of colour, you watch as the sun sets slowly over the horizon, filling the carriage with an orange glow.
  101. >It’s an entire day and most of the night worth of travelling to get to Los Pegasus from Ponyville, including a three hour stop in Canterlot to switch trains.
  102. >Your eyes are drawn away from the beautiful scene as Rainbow presses herself against you.
  103. >Looking down at her in confusion you notice the book in her hooves.
  104. >You know what series this is, it’s the only thing Rainbow will read no matter how much Twilight tries to convince her otherwise.
  105. “So why have I become your back rest all of a sudden?” You ask.
  106. >Dash looks up at you with a sheepish smile on her face, “I thought you might want to listen, besides you’re comfier than some stupid wooden seat anyway.”
  107. >You smile and shake your head at her.
  108. “Whatever, do you at least think we should warm the other passengers before you start?” you whisper, knowing full well how into the stories Rainbow gets.
  109. >Her sheepish grin turns into a joyful smile, “I’m sure they won’t care and besides they get to hear an awesome story told by the most awesome pony!”
  110. >You shake your head, you can’t help but feel a pang of guilt for the other ponies on the train.
  111. >You know everyone else is going to end up extremely frustrated with the loud rainbow pony.
  112. >But you know they won’t say anything, the giant ape sitting next to her enough to scare away any would be protesters.
  113. >“Daring Do and the griffons goblet!” Dash announces loudly, causing multiple eyes to look at her in confusion.
  114. >Rainbow shuffles against you as she opens the book, “Chapter one…”
  115.
  116. >”Are you ready for chapter eight?” Rainbow asks her raspy voice sounds more weary than usual, causing you to briefly wonder if she will still be able to talk at all in the morning.
  117. >There are only three beings left in the carriage, most of the others started moving at chapter two.
  118. >Only you Rainbow and an old earth pony mare remain.
  119. >And you have a feeling the old mare is deaf, considering she has somehow ignored you and Rainbow the entire time.
  120. >Inside of Rainbow starting to read chapter eight like you were expecting she changes positions, moving herself so she is lying across your lap.
  121. “Comfortable?” You ask, raising an eyebrow as you look down at her.
  122. >Rainbow realises her position her face going red with embarrassment, “Sorry Anon, guess I’m a bit tired.”
  123. >She goes to move but you press her back down.
  124. “It’s fine, I don’t care.”
  125. >She brings the book over her face, hiding her shame and mumbling out a thank you.
  126. >She lies as stiff as a bored, not moving an inch.
  127. “Do you want to move, I mean you seem uncomfortable now?” you ask as you move the book off her face.
  128. >”N-nah it’s fine dude, just you know don’t think this is gonna be a regular occurrence or anything!” She warns.
  129. “So… Chapter eight then?”
  130. >”Right, Daring Do groaned in pain as the vine burned her hooves. But a little pain isn’t going to stop her, especially not this close to her goal!” Rainbow starts, and once more you go to looking out the window, watching as the stars twinkle in the night sky.
  131.
  132. >”You’ll never get away with this!” D-daring shouts…” Rainbow stops reading to yawn loudly.
  133. “Getting tired Dash?”
  134. >”N-nah I’m fine give me a moment.” She states, resting the book on her belly.
  135. >”I just need to close my eyes for a second.”
  136. >Next thing you know soft snoring reaches your ears, Dash lightly sleeping on your lap.
  137. >You can’t help but think the cyan blob attached to you is somewhat cute.
  138. >You shake your head from those thoughts, You are pretty tired yourself.
  139. >Slowly you take the book off her chest, slipping it back into the saddlebags whence it came.
  140. >You wonder what Rainbow would say if she knew you thought of her as ‘cute.’
  141. >She would probably stop showering or something to make herself messier.
  142. >You look out the window, seeing the bright lights of Los Pegasus in the distance.
  143. >Sure it’s nothing compared to some of the cities on Earth, but it is arguably the biggest pony city you’ve seen in your time here.
  144. >Then again you haven’t seen much outside of Ponyville and Canterlot so your opinion is hardly valid.
  145. >At the speed the train is travelling at you estimate you’re about ten minutes from the city limits.
  146. >Once more you ponder on the ‘surprise’ Rainbow has planned out for you, your thoughts and the sights of the city make the rest of the trip pass swiftly.
  147. >Rainbows snoring now rivals the constant rumbling of the train, even accompanied by small whinnies and snorts.
  148. >You chuckle at the sleeping being, the movement earning a snort from the pegasus pony who is currently cutting the circulation to your legs off.
  149. >feeling the train slowing down you consider waking Rainbow, but then decide against it.
  150. >Your sleep addled brain decides it’s a good idea to carry Rainbow to wherever you’re staying.
  151. >It’s not like she needs to wake up anyway.
  152.
  153. >Standing in the middle of the station, ponies move as far out of the way as they can, each one of them looks at you with concerning eyes, not a single one says anything though.
  154. >With the way you look you can’t really be surprised.
  155. >You have a snoring pegasus draped across one shoulder, her saddlebags across the other and your bag held firmly in your hand.
  156. >That doesn’t change the fact you have absolutely no idea where to go though, Rainbow wasn’t exactly detailed about what was happening once you was arrived.
  157. >With a heavy sigh you admit that you’ll have to wake Rainbow up and begin moving towards a nearby bench.
  158. “Dash”
  159. >You nudge the pegasus, only succeeding in making her groan in annoyance.
  160. “Rainbow get up.”
  161. >You jab your finger into her ribs, earning a snorting giggle.
  162. >You poke her again, this time tickling her a bit.
  163. >She squirms under the assault of your fingers, her eyes shoot open as she laughs.
  164. >”A-anon! Stop!” She squeals.
  165. >Relenting you help her to her hooves.
  166. >”What the hay do you think you’re doing?” She asks looking around, now wide awake ”How did we get here?” she looks around the mostly quiet station.
  167. >The only ponies still mingling around are the ones that are boarding or getting off your train.
  168. “I uh… sort of carried you here.”
  169. >Rainbow jumps to her hooves, her face going red “What! Anon anyp0ny could have seen me; the Wonderbolts could have seen me!”
  170. “Calm down, There’s barely anyone here, let alone a Wonderbolt.” You say.
  171. >”Ugh, you better hope no one saw.” She says menacingly.
  172. >You tousle her mane, much to her displeasure.
  173. “If anyone asks about it we can just tell them I was trying to kidnap you.”
  174. >She rolls her eyes in mock frustration, “Come on, idiot.”
  175.
  176. “Do you even know where you are going?” You question the colourful pony.
  177. >The two of you have been walking the dark streets for the past fifteen minutes.
  178. >”Duh, of course I know where I’m going!” Rainbow rebukes, getting her face a little too close to yours.
  179. “Really?”
  180. >”Yeah, really! Now come on!” She exclaims, flicking your face with her tail as she turns away.
  181. >You’re momentarily dumbstruck by the action, unsure if she did it on purpose or not.
  182. >You shake your head, it was probably just an accident.
  183. >The two of you walk in silence, the only noise is the slapping of your feet on the pavement and Rainbows beating wings.
  184. >Even in a city much larger than Ponyville it is still silent at night, the lack of any sort of heavy machinery the most obvious factor.
  185. “Dash I think we are lost, we should find someone to ask directions.”
  186. >You hear her huff in annoyance, “Anon even if we were lost, Which we’re not by the way, there’s nop0ny out here!”
  187. >Realising the street is a dead as you feel you sigh loudly and once more walk with the grumpy pony.
  188. >Small streams of light flow from shop window displays, causing your shadows to dance on the ground.
  189. >There’s not even a bar around here that is open, only small businesses like dressmakers and cake shops.
  190. >Movement in one of the displays catches your eyes, making you pause.
  191. >You look into the watchmakers shop, even outside you can hear the clocks ticking in the quiet night.
  192. >Inside an elderly stallion works, thin glasses rest upon his muzzle as he focuses intently on the cuckoo clock in front of him.
  193. “Hey Rainbow!” You call out to the pegasus, almost an entire block ahead by now.
  194. >She whirls around at the sound of your voice, “What!” She snaps angrily.
  195. “Come here.”
  196. >Clearly frustrated she flies over to you, her movements slow and sluggish.
  197. “Here look, ask this guy where we’re going.” You tell her, motioning to the shop.
  198. >She looks conflicted at your plea.
  199. “Come on, the sooner we find out where we are going the sooner we can get there.”
  200. >Rainbow bites her lip, contemplating your reasoning, “Fine, but we aren’t lost, I’m just making sure.”
  201. >Moments later she exits the shop, her face is one of annoyance.
  202. “You okay?” you ask, generally concerned.
  203. >”Fine, now come on.” She states, before starting to head in the opposite direction you were heading.
  204. “Were we going the wrong way?” You ask annoyed.
  205. >”No, I was showing you around the city, but somep0ny wants to go to sleep!” She defends crossly.
  206. You stretch yourself on the wall before following her.
  207.
  208. >It only takes a moment to catch up to Rainbow, slowing down so you’re walking next to her.
  209. >You take note of the fact that she is no longer flying, choosing to walk instead. Her head hangs low to the ground and her wings are drooping slightly.
  210. “You okay, Dash?”
  211. >She takes a moment to swivel her head to you, stumbling as she does, “Y-yeeaaa…” her answer is cut off by a loud yawn.
  212. >The two of you walk a bit further, You observe how her wings are almost dragging on the ground by now.
  213. “Hey, come here” You mutter to her, before crouching down to her level.
  214. >”Come on Anon, I’m tired” the pegasus complains, turning to face you.
  215. “Yeah I know, so am I”
  216. >You turn your back to her, still in a couched position
  217. “Here, Jump on.”
  218. >”What why would I do that?” She asks with confusion.
  219. “So I can carry you, you’re about to fall over any second now.”
  220. >”W-what you can’t be serious!” Rainbow splutters.
  221. >From your position you can’t see her face, but you can assume it’s one of wide eyed embarrassment.
  222. “Come on, nobody is going to see you, It’ll be fine.” You assure her.
  223. >You’re about to stand back up, thinking the pony doesn’t want to risk her reputation when you feel a hoof on each shoulder.
  224. >”You tell anyp0ny about this and I’ll kick your flank all the way to Cloudsdale.” Rainbow threatens, before holding on tightly.
  225. “Hey if I remember rightly, you were the one who tired herself out giving me a tour of the city.”
  226. >Rainbow doesn’t answer, instead resting her head on your shoulder.
  227. “Anyway, where are we going princess blue butt?” you ask your blue quadrupedal companion.
  228. >Your comment earns a knock on the back of your head and a giggle, “Like five blocks up and then a left.”
  229. >Rainbow presses her head down on your shoulder, her wings drooping across your arms.
  230. >”Ya know uh… thanks for this it’s pretty cool of you,” Dash whispers in your ear, “Even if it is a totally lame gesture.”
  231. >You open your mouth for a witty comeback, only for Rainbow to cut you off, ”Also don’t think this is going to be a regular thing or something.”
  232. “No don’t you think this is going to be a regular thing, do you think I like hauling your arse across town?” You scoff.
  233. >” I know you enjoy it” She jokes, “And besides, it’s a nice change from all the stallions trying to ride me.”
  234. “Pfft, I’ve never even seen you talk to a stallion, you’re just as bad as me!”
  235. >Her wings shuffle in annoyance on your arms, “Hey, at least I’m not totally against any sort of relationship!”
  236. “I dunno, I think you might be.”
  237. >”Anon shut up or I might have to find a new best friend.”
  238. “Like you could ever replace me…”
  239. >”Dude I could replace you like that, all I need to do is get Twilight to do that spell again.”
  240. >Her wings rest back over your arms as her entire body relaxes, “Did Twilight ever get that spell to send you home?” She asks.
  241. >You almost trip over at the question, it’s been a long time since Twilight was still working on a way to send you home.
  242. “Nah, I told her not to worry, I don’t even think I could go back anymore.”
  243. >”Really, you don’t even care?”
  244. “Course I care, butI’m sure if I did get back a certain rainbow maned pegasus would probably come and drag me by the ear back to Ponyville bar.”
  245. >”Damn right I would, do think I’d go out drinking with Twilight or something?”
  246. >You chuckle softly at her, the movement making her feather brush against your arms.
  247. >You can’t help but marvel at how soft they.
  248. “Hey do you shampoo your wings or something?”
  249. >Rainbows wings snap back to her sides at your remark, “What, Anon no!”
  250. “Ok geez, no need to chuck a hissy fit.”
  251. >”Why would you even ask that?”
  252. “I dunno, they’re really soft and shit, kinda nice actually.”
  253. >You realise you probably said the wrong thing as you can almost feel the heat emanating from Rainbow’s cheeks.
  254. >”Th-thanks dude,” Rainbow mumbles quietly, before perking up, “Hey, there’s the hotel!” she exclaims, pointing a fuzzy blue hoof at the brightest building on the street.
  255.
  256. >You can’t help but be amazed as you get closer to the building Dash pointed out.
  257. >You were expecting some cheap roadside motel, not some four and a half star place.
  258. “Damn Dash you really went all out!” you exclaim as Dash slides from your back.
  259. >”When don’t I?” she brags.
  260. “Yeah whatever you say, better make sure that head of yours can still fit through the door.” You tease.
  261. >”Shut up Anon” Rainbow says flatly, not amused at all.
  262. “Make me!” you say, sticking your tongue out.
  263. >”And you call me immature”
  264. “You are immature.”
  265. >Rainbow shakes her head, “come on I’m gonna fall asleep any second.”
  266. >You agree whole heartily with that statement, following her as she pushes her way through the golden entrance doors.
  267. >The only other pony in the hotel lobby is the snooty looking unicorn stallion at the front desk, complete with an impossibly thin moustache.
  268. >”What’s up?” Rainbow asks nonchalantly.
  269. >“Good…” the stallion begins before looking at the clock “morning madam.”
  270. >”Yeah morning, listen I got a room booked.”
  271. >The unicorn stares at her for a moment, waiting for her name.
  272. >Dash meanwhile is busy looking with awe at the lobby, completely ignoring the receptionist.
  273. >Eventually you just lean over.
  274. “Rainbow Dash”
  275. >He looks thankful at your intervention, “One moment.”
  276. >You wait as the stallion starts flicking through page after page of the bookings.
  277. >”Rainbow Dash from Ponyville, booked a standard room correct?”
  278. >”Yup, that’s me alright.”
  279. >Leaning on the desk your legs feel like they are going to give out underneath you.
  280. >”Hmm, okay the room above yours has experienced some flooding, partially caving in your rooms roof” He says calmly.
  281. >”What! Aw come on!” Dash exclaims.
  282. >The unicorn’s moustache quivers with annoyance before he continues, “So we have upgraded your room for you.”
  283. >Huh, well that’s not too shabby.
  284. >Rainbow seems to share this statement, “Aw yeah!” She exclaims, pumping a hoof into the air.
  285.
  286. >”Uh…” Rainbow stammers, staring into the room as the door slowly swings open.
  287. >Vases full of flowers sit on just about every surface, their perfume making your nose itch.
  288. >In the centre of the room sits a huge four poster bed, the surface of it covered with rose petals in the shape of a heart.
  289. “Well this is awkward.”
  290. >The stallion at the front desk had neglected to mention that the two of you had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite.
  291. >Though that explains the sly wink he gave you as you took the room key.
  292. >You shake your head at the idea he was implying.
  293. >”Don’t worry ‘bout it dude, Ugh I feel like I could fall asleep on the floor” Rainbow speaks wearily, trotting into the room, the thick carpet muffling her hoofsteps.
  294. “You take the bed, I’ll have the couch.”
  295. >”Anon don’t be stupid we can share, it’s like big enough for ten ponies anyway.” Rainbow states, motioning to the bed.
  296. >Looking at the bed you realise how big it is, even for your frame it’s huge.
  297. “You sure? I mean I don’t care if you don’t.”
  298. >”Nah it’s cool, but you better not snore.” She warns.
  299. “Rainbow compared to you I practically absorb sound.”
  300. >”What’s that supposed to mean!”
  301. “It means you snore louder!”
  302. >Her face goes bright red from your blunt statement, “Do not!” She shouts in defence.
  303. “You do too, besides I’m tired and I don’t care.”
  304. >”Fine but I’m telling you I don’t snore.”
  305. >You don’t bother to argue, instead stripping down into your boxes and slipping beneath the covers.
  306. >You roll over to look at Rainbow as she throws her saddlebags over the couch.
  307. “Come to bed Rainbow darling…” You speak seductively.
  308. >She groans loudly, “Don’t make this any weirder Anon.”
  309. “Whatever, I’m only joking.”
  310. >”Dude I’d be worried if you weren’t.”
  311. >The last thing you feel before slipping into the awaiting embrace of sleep is Rainbow sliding in next to you.
  312.
  313. >The bright morning light floods the room filling it with its warmth, rousing you from your well-deserved slumber.
  314. >You roll over in an attempt to get the sun off your face, only to bump into something.
  315. >Something that snorts loudly at your touch.
  316. >Slowly you tilt your head to look at the obstruction, finding Rainbow Dash with her body pressed into your back.
  317. >As you’re watching she murmurs in her sleep, digging herself further into your spine.
  318. >Realising how close you are you slowly slide into an upright position, attempting to avoid any awkward moments.
  319. >Dash sneezes loudly as you, followed by a long winded groan, pushing her head into the plush bedding instead of your back.
  320. >You nudge her softly, the action causing her to moan in annoyance.
  321. “Come on, get up.” You tell her softly.
  322. >”Ugh… five more min…” She trails off, pushing her head beneath the covers.
  323. >Shaking your head and suppressing a grin you get up and start your usual morning routine, leaving the tired blob to wake up slowly.
  324. >You stare at your reflection in the oversized bathroom mirror, realising there is a good chance you won’t be able to shave.
  325. >To be honest you haven’t even thought about checking to see what Rainbow packed you, for all you know your bag could be filled with hay or something.
  326. >It probably wasn’t a good idea to blindly follow Rainbow without at least making sure you have the necessities.
  327. >But that’s why hindsight is twenty-twenty, and not foresight.
  328.
  329. >Splashing your face with water you make your way back into the main room, passing a still sleeping Rainbow on your way to your bag.
  330. >Rummaging through it what is probably going to be a wasted effort you don’t notice Rainbow sit up and rub her eyes.
  331. >”What are you doing?” Rainbow asks sleepily, her voice causing you to jump.
  332. “Nothing, just trying to see what you packed for me” You tell the mare.
  333. >”Yeah dude, I did a pretty good job didn’t I?” She asks proudly.
  334. >You hum to her in agreement, it’s definitely better than what you were expecting.
  335. >Not all of it makes sense though.
  336. “Why would I need a suit?” You ask, pulling out the formal dress shirt.
  337. >”For tonight” Dash answers, lazing on the bed so just her head hangs off the edge, her mane is even messier than usual from sleeping.
  338. “What’s happing tonight?”
  339. >”Oh you know… Surprise stuff” Rainbow rolls over onto her back and grins at you.
  340. “Did you at least pack my razor?”
  341. >”Your what?”
  342. “You know… the thing on my bathroom sink.”
  343. >”I dunno, I think Rarity put it in the end pocket.”
  344. You look up confused, “Rarity?”
  345. >She raises her hooves in mock defeat, “You got me, Rarity might have helped a little with the packing.”
  346. “Huh, guess that explains why everything is neat and folded then.”
  347. >You reach into the end pocket, thankfully finding your beloved razor.
  348. >After all the effort that went into getting your hands on the useful device you don’t want to have to make do without it.
  349. >For the first two months you went around Ponyville with a full grown beard, apparently ponies don’t need to bother shaving.
  350. >And you certainly didn’t trust yourself with a knife.
  351. >It wasn’t until Twilight suggested asking the hospital that your prayers were answered, after that it was just a matter of paying a small fee to get a few extras blades delivered each month.
  352. >”Anon you know the mares would probably dig a nice beard” Rainbow jokes, “You know to make you look more like a pony!”
  353. “Yeah when you grow one I might think about it” You say walking into the bathroom and closing the door behind you.
  354.
  355. >Tapping your fingers on the small dining table you wait patiently for Rainbow to finish her own morning routine.
  356. >You can’t help but think about what Rainbow has planned for you, Right now you are having difficulty remembering the last time the pony kept something to herself for so long.
  357. >Especially when it’s something she has done, normally she would brag about it to everyone.
  358. >You hear the water shut off, Rainbow having finished with her shower.
  359. >Minutes later she exits the bathroom, her blue coat and rainbow mane still visibly damp.
  360. “You hungry?” You ask, your stomach rumbling at having gone so long without food.
  361. >”Dunno, what time is it?”
  362. >You look at the clock on the wall, not visible from Rainbows position.
  363. “Like two in the afternoon…” you say, slightly gobsmacked at how late you slept in.
  364. >Then again you were up half the night.
  365. >Next thing you know Rainbow is standing next to you, “Wow we slept in huh?”
  366. “Yeah, I slept like a rock.”
  367. >”Whatever, come on we gotta be back in a couple of hours though.”
  368. “Still not going to tell me what you have planned?”
  369. >”Nope,” Rainbow says while she grins widely at you, “Now come on!” She exclaims, darting out the door.
  370. “Whatever,” You mumble, grabbing a couple of bits for lunch as you follow the impatient pony, closing the door behind you.
  371.
  372. >With a full belly both you and Rainbow stumble back onto the room, dash rolling onto the couch laughing.
  373. >”Oh gosh, did you see that mare’s face?”
  374. “Man, if I wasn’t there she probably would have gone off at you!”
  375. >Rainbow stops laughing to look at you, “Don’t you mean if I wasn’t there?”
  376. “No, cause if you weren’t there nobody would have to witness your disgusting eating habits.”
  377. >Dash stretches out across the couch, “Yeah well you’re not much better.”
  378. “I don’t go shoving my face into plates of food at least.”
  379. >You stumble over to her and playfully shove her Dash off the couch, before slumping into it.
  380. >”Hey watch it ya big goof!” Rainbow threatens.
  381. “Or what?”
  382. >”Or-or I’ll do something I’ll regret!” She jabs playfully, jumping up next to you.
  383. “Oh yeah?” You question, grinning.
  384. >”Yeah!” Dash hits her hoof softly into your thigh.
  385. “Even if I do, this!” You exclaim, grabbing her before she knows what’s happening.
  386. >Your fingers find their way to her sides digging into her soft fur coat beneath her wings
  387. >Rainbow squeals with laughter as she tries to wriggle herself out of your grasp.
  388. >”A-anon!” Dash shouts, before once more dissolving into fits of laughter as your digits work their magic.
  389. >Her raspy laugh is like music to your ears, and you only stop the relentless assault as she gasps for air.
  390. >”A-anon, don’t” Dash manages to gasp.
  391. “Don’t what?” You ask, a sly smile finding its way onto your face and you wriggle your fingers for emphasise.
  392. >Her hoof finds its way to your leg once more, weaker this time from her breathless state.
  393. “Hey watch it, any harder and I’ll be forced to defend myself.”
  394. >Dash smirks, “Yeah right, like you’d be able to do anything against the might that is, Rainbow Dash!” She exclaims before collapsing onto your lap, panting softly.
  395. >Absentmindedly you find yourself running your fingers through her mane.
  396. >It only takes a moment for you to realise how intimate that action could be taken as and you force yourself to stop.
  397. >You lean back into the chair, listening to Rainbows laboured breathing slowly soften.
  398.
  399. >The two of you share the brief moment of relaxation, and moment is all it is, as Rainbows eyes widen in horror as she realises the time.
  400. >She jumps off your lap, “We gotta go!” She shrieks, before running towards her bags.
  401. >Snagging her saddlebags with a wing she darts into the bathroom slamming the door behind her.
  402. >Slowly you sit up, the clock reading ten to five.
  403. >You watch as the seconds turn to minutes, as soon as the clock hits five you push yourself out of the chair, curious as to what Rainbow is doing.
  404. “Rainbow, you okay?” You ask, knocking softly on the door.
  405. >”Give me a minute!” She calls back quickly.
  406. >Sighing you retreat and sit on the edge of the bed, waiting for the pony who has kept you in the dark since the start of this trip.
  407. >With a click the bathroom door unlocks and Rainbow walks out.
  408. >You can’t help but gape in shock.
  409. >The usual rough and tumble pegasus replaced by something even Rarity would be jealous of.
  410. >You take note of every inch of her body, from her blue coat with its reflective brushed sheen, her beautiful styled mane, all the way to the golden shoes wrapped around her hooves.
  411. >She blushes when she notices you staring, “that good huh?”
  412. “You look great…” You mumble not even paying attention to you words.
  413. >Rainbows face goes even redder, and yours follows suit as you register what you said.
  414. “I mean for a pony.” You cough out awkwardly.
  415. >Dash has taken on the characteristics of Fluttershy, shuffling her hooves in embarrassment.
  416. >It doesn’t last long though, one look at you and her eyes go from twinkling with joy to that of frustration.
  417. >”What the hay Anon, what have you been doing!” She shouts.
  418. “What?” You react defensively to her sudden outburst.
  419. >”You don’t think maybe you should get ready!” Rainbow keeps shouting.
  420. “Ready for what, you didn’t even tell me what you were doing!”
  421. >Dash just groans, moving quickly over to your bag and pulling your suit out with her mouth, “come on get ready!”
  422. >She has probably gotten spit all over it now, you think as you take the clothing from her, going into the bathroom.
  423.
  424. >You pull up the smooth black dress pants, doing up the button to hold them to your waist.
  425. >Just in time too, as not a second later Rainbow bursts through the door.
  426. >You reckon if the ceiling was any lower you would have gone right through it.
  427. “What the hell Dash!”
  428. >”What?” She asks in confusion before shaking her head, “Come on!”
  429. >Thankfully having put you pants on already you manage to avoid any embarrassing situations.
  430. >It doesn’t stop Rainbow from trying to help though, mumbling for you to keep still as she tries to do up the buttons on your shirt.
  431. >Sadly hooves aren’t the best asset to use against buttons and she makes no headway, only finding herself getting more and more frustrated.
  432. “Get off!” You exclaim, slapping her blue hooves away.
  433. >Grunting in annoyance the obtrusive pegasus relents, falling back to the ground to watch you with her magenta eyes squinting in annoyance.
  434. “So where are we going that we need to get all dressed up for?” you ask, straightening the red tie around your neck.
  435. >”Do you really think I’m gonna tell you now?” Her eyes twinkle as she speaks.
  436. “Well a guy can hope right?”
  437. >Finishing straightening the collar on your shirt you set to work on your hair.
  438. >Rainbow shuffles next to you, impatiently waiting for you to finish.
  439. >The second the brush leaves your hand you are dragged out by the arm, “Come on, come on!”
  440. >Once more you push the over-excited pony off you.
  441. >Her attitude only become more impatient as you put your footwear on.
  442. >”Are you done now? She asks with annoyance apparent in her voice.
  443. “Just about… done” You say, tying your laces.
  444.
  445. >The yellow taxi trundles through the streets of Los Pegasus, Rainbow practically vibrating with excitement.
  446. “Are you sure this is for me or for yourself?”
  447. >Dash looks up at you, not even attempting to suppress the happy smile on her face, “Who said anything about this being for you? I told you I had a surprise and that you’d love it.”
  448. “Ugh, come on calm down.”
  449. >You reach down and wrap an arm around the pegasus, pulling her into a tight hug in an attempt to stop her from fidgeting with anticipation.
  450. >The action quickly makes her flustered as she quickly bats you off, her face bright red, “Anon you’re make me look bad!” She whines, trying to fix her mane.
  451. “Dash your hair is always messy, trust me it looks great.”
  452. >”You think so?”
  453. “I know so.”
  454. >The rest of the trip is spent in silence, though for some reason your eyes keep finding themselves fixed on Rainbow.
  455. >Every time that your gaze meets hers you both look away quickly.
  456. >You sum up your fixation with her to excitement.
  457. >Rainbows enthusiasm has slowly been building yours, even though you have no idea what the surprise is that she has planned.
  458. >Rainbow stops the cart in a seemingly random spot, jumping off she pays the ponies, leaving you to reluctantly follow.
  459.
  460. >”So anon you ready?” Dash asks with glee, her wings fidgeting with glee.
  461. “I swear to god if we go into some strip club or something…”
  462. >”Pfft, like you’d even set foot in a strip club,” Rainbow jokes, “Trust me this is even better!”
  463. “Not that hard to beat a pony strip club Dash.”
  464. >She doesn’t acknowledge your comment instead just leading the way down the street.
  465. >The sharp taps of her golden footwear is the only sound as you follow the vibrant pony.
  466. >”Here we are!” Dash exclaims.
  467. >You look up at the building, recognising it as one of many movie theatres you passed on the way here.
  468. >The building itself is reminiscent of the fifties, wood panelling and large cut out letters adorn the front of the structure, spelling out what’s showing.
  469. “The movies?” You ask dumbly.
  470. >Rainbow is practically bursting at this point, “Come on!” She shouts, and once more you find yourself being dragged along behind her.
  471. >Inside the thick smell of buttered popcorn blocks out just about every other smell.
  472. >It fails to block out the noise of everyone in the lobby though.
  473. >The theatre is almost packed to bursting, races from all over Equestria fill the lobby, most of them wearing at least some form of formal attire.
  474. “What is this for?” You ask Rainbow, motioning to the swarms of ponies and associated beings.
  475. >She squeals, “Dude come on, I told you this would be awesome!”
  476. “It would be if you told me what it was.”
  477. >”Daring Do Anon, Daring Do the movie!” She exclaims, the grin on her muzzle reaching epic proportions.
  478. >You can’t help but smile as well, not because of the movie, but because of the way Rainbow seems fit to burst.
  479.
  480. >Apparently this isn’t just the Daring Do movie, it’s also the pre-screening of the Daring Do movie.
  481. >The type big shot movie reviewers are invited to.
  482. >The movie doesn’t officially open until tomorrow, making you and Rainbow some of the first to see the completed film.
  483. >You lean down in the seat next to Rainbow.
  484. “So how did you get these tickets?” You whisper.
  485. >Dash only shushes you in response, followed by a quick, “I’ll tell ya later.”
  486. >The lights dim, causing the multiple hushed whispers to cease throughout the theatre.
  487. >Rainbow leans forward in anticipation, and you can feel her enthusiastic shuffling through the seat.
  488. >You briefly consider telling her to calm down before realising this sort of opportunity rarely comes along.
  489. >With a shrug you lean forward as well, fuck if she doesn’t make you a little excited about these things.
  490.
  491. >The movie has barely started, still at the opening credits when you feel a jab in your side.
  492. >Looking down you see Rainbow looking at you with an annoyed expression.
  493. >”I can’t see!” She whispers harshly.
  494. >You look to the seat in front of her, an earth pony about the same size of Big Mac sits in front of her.
  495. >And considering Rainbow comes up to your shoulder when both you and her are sitting, that’s pretty fucking big.
  496. “What do you want me to do?” You whisper back.
  497. >In the dim light you can barely see her shrug, “I dunno, swap?”
  498. “Then I wouldn’t be able to see.”
  499. >Rainbow groans softly in frustration, “This is lame!”
  500. >You think about swapping with her, she would get loads more enjoyment out of this than you.
  501. “Hang on, do you uh…” you trail off as you turn away out of embarrassment.
  502. >”Do I what?”
  503. “You know you could uh… sit on my lap.”
  504. >Rainbow reels back in shock, “What!” She speaks loudly, causing a few sounding patrons to look at you.
  505. “Shh, It was just a suggestion.”
  506. >Rainbow sits back in her seat, as you push yourself forward.
  507. “Here, swap then.” You whisper, pushing yourself forward.
  508. >Rainbow pushes you back with a hoof, “Sit down.”
  509. >You look at her with confusion, but otherwise comply with her request.
  510. >Her actions click when she stands up and moves in front of you.
  511. >As she sets her flank onto yours she leans back, “Remember what will happen if you tell anyp0ny.”
  512. >You nod dumbly, leaning your head to look around her spectral hair, silently marvelling at how soft she is.
  513.
  514. >You exit the theatre with Rainbow at your side, retelling the best scenes from the movie you saw not two minutes ago.
  515. >”And then the airship was like BOOM!” Dash exclaims, flipping into the air.
  516. >She suddenly pauses, making you look over to her with confusion, “Be right back!” She shouts darting off towards the restroom.
  517. >You sigh and head over to one of the empty seats in the lobby.
  518. >Were you surprised by Rainbow bringing you here?
  519. >Yeah you were, though you can’t shake the thoughts of her body on top of yours, her soft blue fur warming your lap.
  520. >Her intoxicating laugh, the way she just gets you excited about even the littlest things.
  521. >The way her flank felt in your hands as you moved her into a more comfortable spot.
  522. >It didn’t feel that bad, really fuzzy and firm, but not firm.
  523. >…
  524. >Fuck.
  525. >You throw your head into your hands, how could you not notice sooner.
  526. >Since when were you even into ponies, let alone your best friend.
  527. >Are you into Dash?
  528. >You try to work out if you feel for her as anything more than a friend.
  529. >Yeah you definitely feel closer to her than that, what about a best friend?
  530. >Well that’s where the line begins to get fuzzy, how far does it have to go from being best friend to romantic interest?
  531. >Dash is definitely close to your heart, but how close is the one you want the answer to.
  532. >With your mind running rapidly over it the line is only become more blurred, part you wants to admit it, while another part doesn’t want it.
  533.
  534. >A voice distracts you from your mental crisis.
  535. >The voice of Rainbow Dash in particular, “You okay dude? You’re just kinda staring at nothing.”
  536. “Yeah no, I’m just lost in thought.”
  537. >”Whatever, come on let’s go grab something to eat.”
  538. >Rainbow and you leave the noisy lobby, filing out with a few other patrons.
  539. “So you want to tell me how you got those tickets?” You ask, trying to strike up a conversation.
  540. >”Oh yeah, well I got them from Rarity.” Dash tells you, floating along next to your head.
  541. >Her wings beat far more rapidly with the added weight of the dress, something you take note of.
  542. “Do you uh want to take that off, the dress?”
  543. >Dash almost loses control in surprise, flapping her wings out of sync she manages to land on the ground, blushing furiously she turns to you, “W-what here!” She squeals, her voice cracking.
  544. >You look at her with confusion,
  545. “I guess, what’s the matter?”
  546. >”Dude I can’t just get undressed in the middle of the street!”
  547. “Aren’t you always naked though?” You ask.
  548. >Her blush returns full force, “Fine but look away!” She shouts, moving into a nearby all
  549. >You shrug your shoulders and turn your back to her, only the sounds of her grunting and the shuffling of fabric let you know she is still there.
  550. >Before you know it the dress is flung over your head, obscuring your vision.
  551. “What do you want me to do with this?” you ask, holding it out.
  552. >”Carry it,” Dash states, before taking note of your annoyed expression and softening, “Please.”
  553. “Fine” you reluctantly agree, swinging the garment across your shoulder.
  554.
  555. >Walking past a posh looking restaurant, you to momentarily double back.
  556. “Hey Dash what about here?” you call out.
  557. >She flies back over to you, “I dunno, looks kinda expensive.”
  558. >You wrap your arm around her foreleg,
  559. “My shout madam,” you speak jokingly in a posh accent.
  560. >Rainbow giggles at you before doing her own impression and tightening the grip on your arm, “Certainly kind sir.”
  561. >The two of you chuckle as you enter, neither caring to uncouple from one another.
  562. >The waiter looks up, silently judging you before guiding you to an empty booth, “Your menus” He states, passing each of you the large order list, ”Will the couple be wanting any drinks?”
  563. >Both you and dash start spluttering excuses at the same time, quickly overwhelming the poor stallion.
  564. “Me and Rainbow, we’re not together…
  565. >”Yeah, Anon is totally cool guy but we aren’t together!” Dash backs you up.
  566. >”Sorry, my mistake…” He apologizes, “Will either of you be wanting anything to drink this evening?”
  567. “Ahem, yeah… just some water thanks.”
  568. >”Yeah same for me too” Dash add, her humiliated face matching your own.
  569. >The waiter nods before walking away.
  570. >”So…” Rainbow starts, “A couple?”
  571. “Yep… Hey you said Rarity got you those tickets right?” You ask, quickly changing the topic.
  572. >Dash looks grateful for the change in topic, “Yup, she uh… got them from one of her clients, you know Canterlot stuff.”
  573. “Huh, so why did she give it to you?”
  574. >”Us.”
  575. “Pardon?”
  576. >”She gave the tickets to us, me and you, something like the two of us would get more enjoyment out of it or something, she was the one who came up with the idea for the surprise.”
  577. “What so Rarity got the tickets for the movie and packed my bag?”
  578. >”Yeah, well she sorta, might have booked the motel as well.”
  579. >Really, what the does Rarity get out of this?
  580. “So just what did you do?”
  581. >”You know, I just made it that much more awesome!”
  582. >You roll your eyes, you should know better than for Dash to admit she is lazy.
  583. >Just one of the many things you love about her.
  584. >Your brain freezes up, slowly registering the last thought you had.
  585. >You just admitted that you loved her.
  586. >No… Did it?
  587. >Do you really just see her as a friend?
  588. >You look at the sky blue pegasus, her mane still styled beck while her beautiful magenta iris’s dart from side to side as she reads the menu.
  589. >Well, do you?
  590. >The more you stare the more you find yourself enjoying her features.
  591. >Her attitude just sort of clicks with yours, to find a girl like that on Earth would be a chance in a million.
  592. >Then again, Rainbow probably doesn’t even see you that way, you’re not even a pony.
  593. >Your interrupted by a glass being placed in front of you, “Would you like to order now?”
  594. >You realise the entire time you’ve been sitting here without even looking at the menu.
  595. “Uh yeah, give me a minute.”
  596. >The stallion walks away, leaving you to scan the multitude of food dishes.
  597.
  598. “So what do you want?”
  599. >Dash looks over the top of her menu, “I dunno, I was gonna get some hay fries but they don’t even sell those here.”
  600. “Yeah they do, wedges right here,” You flip your menu over pointing to the appetiser.
  601. >She looks at you like you’re an idiot, “How are hay fries anything like potato wedges?”
  602. >Welp, maybe you are an idiot.
  603. “Right sorry, thinking of potato fries”
  604. >”What’s a potato fry?” Rainbow asks.
  605. “You know, like a hay fry but potato.”
  606. >”That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.”
  607. “Remind me when we get back to Ponyville and I’ll try to cook some for you.”
  608. >”Anon I’ve had your cooking before, I’d rather not.”
  609. “Hey it’s hardly any worse than what you can do, little miss I burn my cereal!”
  610. >”I do not!” Dash objects, sticking her tongue out, “Anyway, what are you getting?”
  611. “I dunno, thinking just the soup.”
  612. >You smile at Rainbow as she pretends to gag in disgust, “Seriously? There’s loads of better stuff!”
  613. “Yeah but it’s also loads more expensive.” You remind her, “Besides it sounds alright.”
  614. >”Oh yeah…”
  615.
  616. “So you ready to order?” You ask the pegasus.
  617. >”Yeah,” She answers as you motion for the waiter.
  618. “Yeah so I’ll have the wedges and the soup thanks.”
  619. >”And for madam?”
  620. >”Yeah give me the same.”
  621. >You look at her in surprise, only to get a shrug in return, “It’s cheaper remember?”
  622. >You watch as the waiter walks away, taking the menus with him.
  623. “You know I would have been happy to pay for you.” You tell her.
  624. >Rainbow looks you, her magenta eyes twinkling, “That’s why I love you, you don’t care to do that little bit extra.”
  625. >You stop with the glass halfway to your lips, if you had started drinking a moment sooner it would probably be all over the table.
  626. “That’s why you what?”
  627. >”That’s why I love…” Dash trails off, “LIKE!” She shouts, startling half of the restaurants occupants, “That’s why I like you,” She mumbles.
  628. >Her face is that of pure shame, as she tries to make herself cease to exist, something completely out of character for the brash blue pony.
  629. >Your face is red as well, something that you try to hide very badly by looking away.
  630. >The entire meal is spent in awkward silence, the two of you trying to avoid as much eye contact as possible.
  631. >You don’t even bother trying to strike up conversation, instead focusing on your soup, thrilling as it is.
  632. >Every now and then you open your mouth to say something, but quickly give up, unable to find the words.
  633. >With a lack of talk the meal moves quickly
  634. >You don’t think you’ve ever been more eager to leave a building before.
  635. >The entire trip back to the hotel is spent in silence.
  636. >Never before have you ever put so much thought into your feet, only occasionally looking away to check your surroundings.
  637. >Nobody else in Equestria has feet, just paws and hooves and shit.
  638. >One of a kind, that sums up you in a nutshell, just one of a kind.
  639.
  640. >Dash flies through the door the second you open it, kicking her golden shoes off, “Right, well goodnight Anon!” She chirps, before darting into the bathroom.
  641. >You look at the now closed bathroom door, thinking about how to go about this.
  642. >She has feelings for you, maybe, and you definitely have feelings for her.
  643. >At this stage you are fairly sure you have feelings for the chromatic mare.
  644. >Try as you might to deny it, you’ve been here long enough to start enjoying her company as something more than a friend.
  645. >With a hearty sigh you it down on the bed and await the sky blue pegasus to finish in the bathroom.
  646. >It doesn’t take long, as she exiting shortly after entering her mane back to its usual scruffy appearance.
  647. >Rainbow freezes in her tracks as she notices you staring, ”H-hey Anon, you uh… You waiting on the bathroom?” She asks nervously, looking away from you as she does.
  648. “We need to talk.”
  649. >”About what dude, can’t it wait ‘till morning?” She asks, flying past you and sliding into the bed, “I’m uh… really tired now…”
  650. >You push yourself back so you are lying next to her.
  651. “I think it would be best now.”
  652. >You stare up at the ceiling in an attempt to lessen the awkward tension.
  653. >You can almost hear the sweat running off Rainbows brow in torrents as she shuffles around.
  654. >”So uh… what do we need to talk about?” She asks, her voice cracking halfway through.
  655. “I think you know, so how long?”
  656. >”I dunno what you are talking about Anon.” Dash tries to act dumb, avoiding the question.
  657. “Ok, how do you feel about me?” You ask, sitting up and facing her.
  658. >Dash’s eyes look around the room, “Y-you’re a good friend.”
  659. “That’s it?”
  660. >She takes a moment to answer, “Yeah…”
  661. “So why did you say you loved me at dinner?”
  662. >She is silent, instead rolling over and pressing her head into the pillow.
  663. “Dash…” You speak gently, reaching out and rolling her back over to look at you.
  664. >She flinches at your touch but moves easily.
  665. “Do you feel that way?”
  666. >”What way, I don’t feel any way!” Dash objects loudly.
  667. >She tries to roll back over, only for you to stop her.
  668. “What if I felt the same thing?”
  669. >Dash looks up at you in surprise, “What?”
  670. “How do you feel then, if I felt exactly the same way you do?”
  671. >”I dunno Anon, I still see you as a friend…” Rainbow pauses to think, “I think...”
  672. >The two of you sit quietly for a moment before Dash sighs loudly, “When did you stop being just my friend?”
  673. >You pause, thinking over the question.
  674. “I don’t know, maybe around the same time you did to me.”
  675. >She looks up at you with those soft eyes, “Ugh, you’ve made me all sappy!”
  676. >You can’t help but chuckle at the pegasus, tousling her mane.
  677. >”Ya know, that’s starting to get real annoying.” She grumbles.
  678. >”Anyway, I thought you weren’t into ponies!”
  679. “Yeah… you know I guess fate found a way to make me come around.”
  680. >The two of you spend minutes in silence.
  681. >Minutes that seem to last hours.
  682.
  683. >”So what does this mean for us?” Dash asks eventually.
  684. “What do you mean?”
  685. >”Well I mean are we going to stay friend or you know, the other thing…”
  686. >You stop to think it over, could you even go back to being friends, pretending neither of you has feelings for the other?
  687. “Well I dunno is there any difference? I mean besides the obvious intimate stuff.”
  688. >Duh, of course there is!” Rainbow blurts, “I think there is anyway.”
  689. “Well what is different?”
  690. >”Well you know… stuff.” She says, clearly embarrassed at the direction this conversation is heading.
  691. “Really, we weren’t in any more than a friendly relationship before, yet I carry you around, we just went to a movie and dinner, that’s practically a date in itself.”
  692. >You motion to the bed behind you,
  693. “Neither of us cares about sleeping together.”
  694. >Rainbow looks conflicted, “I dunno, I mean I’m not even sure if I even truly feel that way.”
  695. ”So what do you want to do?” You ask looking at the blue mare.
  696. >”I dunno, like I mean you’re my friend and all and I don’t want to ruin that… But-“ Dash is cut off by you raising your hand.
  697. “What about we just keep doing what we’ve been doing and see where we go.”
  698. >Rainbow smiles at you, receiving one in return “You know I kinda like that idea, I mean it would have been better if I thought of it though.”
  699. “You know it has got to be hard doing anything with that massive head.”
  700. >”Shut up you know you love it!” Rainbow says, not even realising her choice of words.
  701. >It takes a moment of your silence for her to realise, “Oh… I didn’t mean it like that!”
  702. “Don’t worry about it, come on you’re tired remember?” you playfully push her over on the bed before standing up and walking into the bathroom.
  703. >”Shut up,” Rainbow giggles before pausing, “Hey Anon?”
  704. “Yeah?”
  705. >”Do you think it could work? I mean me and you if it does end up going that way?”
  706. >You lean against the doorframe
  707. “Maybe not, but I reckon it already is working”
  708. >The last thing you see before you turn away is a small smile on Rainbows muzzle.
  709.
  710. >”Hey Anon?” Dash calls, pulling the book out of her face and stares at you from your lap.
  711. “Yeah?”
  712. >”So do you want to tell everyp0ny yet? About us I mean?”
  713. >You reach down and stroke her mane, the multi-coloured strands of hair flowing through your fingers.
  714. “What about us, just two friends right, unless you’re ready to admit you love me?”
  715. >She giggles at you, “No way, you need to say it first!”
  716. >You lean back in the wooden seat, “Are you going to say it?” she asks with concern.
  717. >You bring your hand to your chin in thought,
  718. “Nah, not yet gotta see you lose at something right?”
  719. >Rainbow groans at you as the train pulls into the station.
  720. “You better get off my lap then if you don’t want them to get suspicious straight away.”
  721. >Rainbow looks annoyed at your suggestion.
  722. “You know not telling me those three words means you can’t get free rides anymore as well.”
  723. >”Dude shut up, now you’re not playing fair.”
  724. “You know you love it.”
  725. >Rainbow looks at you with her large magenta eyes, “You think you’re going to get me to say it that easily?”
  726. “I dunno, I mean I could always just tickle the answer out of you.”
  727. >A hoof jabs into your side in response, “Yeah you keep saying that but never do anything.”
  728. “Is that another challenge? Maybe your head is getting too big, I mean you’re going into things you can’t possibly win.”
  729. >Rainbow just grins at you, “What can I say, maybe your stupidity is rubbing off.”
  730. >The train grinds to a halt, signalling its stop with a shrill whistle.
  731. >You look out the window as you stand up, both yours and Rainbows friends stand on the platform.
  732. >Pinkie is even holding up a huge welcome back banner, despite only having been gone for three days.
  733.
  734. >Exiting the train you’re swarmed by the group of equines, Pinkie latching onto your chest with a huge bear hug.
  735. >You can barely make out, ‘welcome back’ and ‘I missed you’ mixed among Pinkies seemingly endless slur of words.
  736. >Jumping off you Pinkie moves from your chest to Rainbow, knocking the poor pegasus off her hooves.
  737. >You pay little attention, greeting the other, less excitable mares.
  738. >The small group and yourself hang out at the station long after the train leaves, chatting about the trip.
  739. >Including Rainbow Dash’s overly enthusiastic recap of the Daring Do movie.
  740. >Slowly the group dwindles down, ponies leaving with promises to catch up soon or to plan welcome back parties.
  741. >Eventually it is just you Rainbow and Rarity standing on the platform.
  742. >”So, Rainbow darling, did anything romantic happen on the trip?” Rarity asks slyly.
  743. >You almost splutter at the thought of Rarity finding out.
  744. >Thankfully Rainbow keeps her cool, “Nah too busy losing sleep over the big guys snoring!”
  745. >That comment earns her a smack over the back of her head.
  746. >The pristine unicorns face droops, “Oh… nothing at all?” She asks, “Not even in the honeymoon suite?”
  747. >”Nah I’m telling you nothing happened Rarity, and besides I was with Anon the whole time.”
  748. >You place your hand on Rainbows head, effectively stopping her talking.
  749. “How did you know about the honeymoon suite?”
  750. >”Huh? Oh I didn’t say that did I?” Rarity asks, sweat beginning to form on her ivory forehead.
  751. >”You sort of did” Rainbow says, taking a step forward.
  752. “How did you know about that?”
  753. >”I don’t know what you two are talking about,” Rarity says, backing away slowly, “Oh would you look at the time I really must be off, ta-ta!” She declares before turning and trotting away.
  754. >You look down at Rainbow her face of shock mirroring yours.
  755. “You don’t think me and you? Because Rarity?”
  756. >”I dunno, I mean if anyp0ny could pull it off it would be Rarity.”
  757. “Well what do you think, did it work?”
  758. >”I dunno, maybe you should tell me how you feel!” Dash grins at you.
  759. “Not on your life!” You shout, before running away from the mare, “Beat you to my place!”
  760. >Rainbow smiles and shakes her head, laughing at the bipedal human before unfurling her wings and taking to the sky.
  761. >It’s not like you stood a chance against her anyway.
