Expiry: Never
-
>You can hear the tapping of her hooves through the bedroom door.
-
>"Hey! Hurry up in there! We're supposed to be at Pinkie's in 5 minutes!"
-
>"Well maybe if a certain blue winged someone hadn't been hogging the dang shower, I'd be ready by now!" you fire back at the impatient pastel horse.
-
>"Don't try and pin this on me!" she whines, voice nearly cracking. You can practically see her face reddening and her snout scrunching in your mind. "Just...hurry up!"
-
>The tapping gets faster as you finish putting on your clothes and open the bedroom door.
-
>No sooner have you done so then Dash is behind you, shoving the small of your back with both hooves and flapping her wings furiously as she propels you down the hallway, shouting "GO GO GO!"
-
>You careen dangerously around the hallway corner, socks sliding on the polished tiles. The front door comes into view.
-
>And grows larger in an instant as Dash continues to shove.
-
>Before you can warn her, you trip over your shoes. A loud thud echoes in the quiet of your home as you smack into the door, then fall on your behind most ungracefully.
-
>"Sorry, sorry!" Dash whispers frantically. Even as she grabs your shoes and attempts to force them onto your feet. "We gotta go, though!"
-
>She doesn't acknowledge your muffled complaint. Instead, she helps you rise to your feet, opens the door, and promptly whisks you out of the house as fast as her small wings will allow her to go as she grabs your arm and forcefully leads you down the street.
-
>Panting, the two of you reach Sugarcube Corner in no time flat. You wipe the light sweat from your face; So much for showing up nice and clean.
-
>"You first!" Dash says with a nervous grin.
-
>Shaking your head in wonder at the small, forceful equine, you regain your composure and gently knock on the door.
-
>"Come in~!" Pinkie chimes from within, practically singing the words.
-
>At least someone's in a good mood, you think as you open the door.
-
>And get blasted in the face with confetti.
-
-
>"SURPRISE!" A host of voices yell in near deafening unison.
-
>Pinkie bounces excitedly beside you, an ear to ear grin beaming from the small pink horse as she bounds from you toward the center of the room.
-
>A large banner reads: "Happy Birthday!"
-
>A smaller one below says: "For the most unique guy we know!"
-
-
>The party is fun, full of laughter, silly games, and sugary sweets.
-
>As the day rapidly turns to night, and the party slowly disperses once all the cake is gone, you turn to Pinkie and thank her for her efforts. Truly, this was one of the best parties you've ever had.
-
-
>"Don't thank me!" she chirps, "Well, do, but really it was all Dash's doing! She pushed really hard to make sure the party was the best it could be, and came up with a lot of the ideas herself!"
-
>You turn to find the blue pegasi sipping on the remains of the party punch bowl.
-
>"Oh really?" you ask.
-
>"Really really!" Pinkie replies, before leaning in and whispering, "I think she's got a thing for you."
-
>She giggles as she winks before bounding off, leaving you and Dash alone in the otherwise empty party room.
-
>You go to the table Dash is at, sitting down beside her as she drains the last of the punch and sets the bowl down on the table with a contented sigh.
-
>"Heck of a party," you say with a grin.
-
>"Wasn't it though?" Dash replies, with a small smile of her own, "Pinkie really outdid herself."
-
>"She's not the only one, or so I was told."
-
>Dash immediately stiffens, her smile faltering as color rushes to her cheeks.
-
>"She....didn't."
-
>You nod, unable to keep the sly grin on your face in check, "Oh, but she did."
-
>Dash tries to say something, but no words come out. She merely mouths a few words you can't hear before looking past you and squeaking, "Oh hey! Look at that!"
-
>As you turn to see whatever she's looking at, you hear her flap her wings and bolt from her chair.
-
>The door bounces shut as you turn back around; Dash having escaped having this conversation.
-
-
>For now.
-
[End...?]
-
-
[Oh hell no, that's not how this story ends!]
-
[Extra coin inserted; Play continues]
-
-
>The front door of Sugarcube Corner bangs open as you bolt out after the blue pegasi. She won't get away that easily!
-
>You look around, trying to spot any silhouettes against the still darkening sky. But you don't spot any.....
-
>Where'd she get to?
-
>"It's kind of cold out," a certain pink pony's voice calls from behind, "I bet she went someplace close by for the night!"
-
>Close by....
-
>Your house?
-
>"Thanks, Pinkie!" you call out to the party horse before tearing a path back home.
-
-
>Sure enough, you corner the blue pegasi at your house.
-
>"Corner" being relative, as she continues to avoid being in the same room as you for the next couple of hours.
-
>Until finally, after you've given up and lie face down on your bed in exhaustion, she plops down on the bed beside you.
-
>You roll halfway over and smile at her.
-
>She smiles back.
-
>And is subsequently unprepared for you grabbing her in a hug as you roll onto the side away from her, grabbing her in a big two armed hug that goes underneath her hooves and across her stomach as you roll onto your side.
-
>Suddenly, you're the big spoon to a surprised and gently squirming blue pegasi.
-
>"H-hey!" she whines, "What're you doing?"
-
>"Nothing."
-
>She harumphs, but doesn't struggle. Minutes pass awkwardly, until she sighs "You're lucky it's your birthday...." and adjusts herself more comfortably against your chest.
-
>Chuckling as a feeling of victory flows through you, you give the blue pony a gentle squeeze as you thank her for her hand in making the party as awesome as it turned out.
-
>She tries to downplay her ideas, at first, but as you heap the praise on, her more braggy side comes out, until she nearly admits putting the whole thing together herself; Pinkie merely got the supplies and set it up.
-
>She squeaks as you give her another squish of appreciation, perhaps realizing what her admittance says about her.
-
-
>The stammering and attempted defending of her actions starts in, but is rapidly shut down as you squeeze her close and kiss the top of her head, multicolored mane brushing against your lips as you do what just feels like the right thing to do.
-
>Dash's stammering is quieted immediately.
-
>It's then that the exhaustion of the day really grabs hold of you.
-
>Yawning widely, you absentmindedly squish your cheek against Dash's head as you cuddle her close and sleep closes in.
-
-
>You're fast asleep when she rolls over in your loosened grip and kisses you on the cheek, before snuggling close against your chest and drifting off to sleep herself.
