                                            Spike and Starlight both sat in the throne room, watching as the princess of friendship ran back and forth in one of her usual blind panics that resulted from her overplanning her life and forgetting to leave time in to plan out more of her life.


                                            In this case, Twilight was preparing for a long trip to Yakyakistan with Princesses Celestia and Luna, and was frantically trying to remember everything she thought she had forgotten to remember.


                                            Spike was, as usual, being his Number One Assistant self and providing helpful commentary as he watched her darting back and forth.


                                            “Did I turn the oven off? Twilight gasped. “What about the warding spells on the workroom? Did I leave the library sealed properly? Did Everypony return their books so I don’t have to charge late fees? Did I…”


                                            “Over turned off, workroom warded, you locked all the restricted parts of the library with instructions for Starlight if they need to be unlocked, all books accounted for, late fees paid, you did pack your scarf, and I fixed you some of my special cookies for the road!” Spike chimed in, beaming with pride at himself as he set Twilight’s bag down next to her, along with the cookies.


                                            He did keep two back, though...one for himself and one for Starlight.


                                            Twilight tensed up more, going nearly catatonic as she tried to remember whether or not she had forgotten anything else at all, before finally relaxing with a huge sigh of relief. “Okay...I guess that really is everything. Thank you, Spike, you really are my number one assistant.” she said, leaning over and nuzzling the young dragon before levitating her bag.

                                            As she turned to head out the door, she paused and smiled. “Starlight, remember, you’re in charge of the palace and the map while the princesses and I are away. Keep an eye on Spike, you know what to do.” she told her student, then put a hoof on her chin.


                                            “There was one other thing….what was it...Oh! Right, I almost forgot. Spike...No wild crazy parties like the last time I left you here alone. I don’t want to hear anything about some crazy shenanigans happening all around Ponyville this time, or I’ll be paddling the purple perpetrator’s posterior as punishment.” she said, looking sternly at the dragon she had hatched before finally nuzzling him again.


                                            “You have my word, Twilight! You won’t hear anything about that kind of thing happening!” Spike said, to Twilight’s nod.


                                            “See that I don’t….Oh no, I’m late!” she said, glancing at the clock and immediately teleporting away as Spike and Starlight looked at one another, shaking their heads in wry amusement.
