                                            Celestia paused in her lecture. Twilight was doodling. Celestia frowned. This happened every time Celestia talked about anything non-magic involved.


                                            "Twilight."


                                            Her ear flicked. "Um..."


                                            "What did I just say?"


                                            Twilight stammered. "Um..."


                                            Celestia picked up the paddle. "I hate to do this, but this is your third strike. I already gave you a smack on the hoof and a hoof spanking."


                                            Twilight burst into tears, bawling apologies. Celestia sighed and wiped away her tears with a wing. "We talked about this didn't we? You need to pay attention. Perhaps sitting on a paddled bottom will finally impart the lesson."


                                            Twilight whined. "But spelling is boring!"


                                            "It's a necessary skill." Celestia scooped her up in her magic, holding her in mid air, lifting her tail and whack! The paddle came down on he rump.


                                            Twilight squirmed and cried, but the wood kept on relentlessly landing on her tushy, stinging whacks on her purple behind. Celestia spanked lightly, but firmly, watching her students bottom turn red.


                                            At last, she set her down in her lap. Twilight hugged her and cried. Celestia put aside the wicked rump whacker and held her close. "I'm sorry Twilight. I hate doing that, almost as much as you hate spelling-or anything not related to magic-. but sometimes we have to do things in life we do not like to do."


                                            Twilight sniffled. "I'm sorry, Princess."


                                            Celestia's gentle wing brushed away her tears. "But I don't understand. Why do you hate these subjects so?"


                                            Twilight huffed. "Cause they're not magic!"


                                            Celestia's eyebrow rose. "Magicians write books of magic because they know how to spell."


                                            Twilight blinked. "So, if I learn to spell I can write a spell book?"


                                            "I'm quite certain you could publish a grimoire."


                                            Twilight hopped off her lap. "Then...I wanna learn to spell!"


                                            Celestia smiled. "Then back to the lessons. Get the spelling words wrong, you will not be getting a cookie."


                                            Twilight smirked. "I'm gonna get dat cookie."
