Expiry: Never

  1. 1.
    Ch. 7
  2. 2.

  3. 3.
    >Anon finishes the last of the non-toxic fruits and mushrooms brought to him by the former Queen of the Changelings.
  4. 4.
    >Licking a bit of berry juice from his fingers, he smiles.
  5. 5.
    >Chrysalis stares at him, unblinking eyes focused on his every movement.
  6. 6.
    >Anon ignores her, and looks up towards the sky.
  7. 7.
    >A soft breeze caresses his cheek.
  8. 8.
    >He closes his eyes, and sighs.
  9. 9.
    >Chrysalis leans forward in anticipation.
  10. 10.
    >Anon slowly looks back down at her.
  11. 11.
    >”She looks so different than when I first saw her,” he thinks to himself. “Or maybe…”
  12. 12.
    >He looks past her to the treeline.
  13. 13.
    A: “Maybe I’m the one who’s different.”
  14. 14.
    >Chrysalis cocks her head slightly, unsure what Anon is talking about.
  15. 15.
    >She shifts her posture slightly, as he simply stares off into space for an uncomfortable length of time.
  16. 16.
    C: “Anon?”
  17. 17.
    >He snaps back from his thoughts.
  18. 18.
    A: “Yeah?”
  19. 19.
    >His flat response almost makes Chrysalis wince, but she suppresses it.
  20. 20.
C: “You enjoyed the feast I brought you, yes?”
  21. 21.
A: “Oh, yeah. I was really hungry after tussling with this guy,”
  22. 22.
    >Anon pats the timberwolf behind him.
  23. 23.
    A: “Thank you.”
  24. 24.
    >He stands, looking away from her again towards the trees.
  25. 25.
    >He starts to take a step, but Chrysalis grabs his hand with her magic, gently pulling on him.
  26. 26.
    C: “That’s it?”
  27. 27.
    >She looks at him with wide eyes, attempting to conceal the disappointment in her voice.
  28. 28.
    >Anon looks down at her with a confused expression.
  29. 29.
    C: “Well?”
  30. 30.
    A: “What?”
  31. 31.
    >Exasperated, she stands up and stomps her hoof.
  32. 32.
C: “What do you mean ‘what’!? I brought you food! Aren’t you feeling… Love?”
  33. 33.
    >Chrysalis slowly lowers her voice as Anon’s blank expression confuses her.
  34. 34.
    >He looks her up and down, squinting his eyes as he seems to ponder something.
  35. 35.
    >Growing irritated by his silence, she yells.
  36. 36.
    C: “Well!?”
  37. 37.
    >Anon smirks.
  38. 38.
A: “You know, you’re actually really cute when you’re upset.”
  39. 39.
    >Taken aback, Chrysalis blushes and scrunches her face.
  40. 40.
    >Anon kneels down and brushes a lock of her hair from her face, and her expression softens, while her blush deepens.
  41. 41.
    >He leans in and gently kisses her.
  42. 42.
    >Her back arches as she tries to lean into his kiss, to draw more love out of him.
  43. 43.
    >But Anon, instead, pulls away.
  44. 44.
    >He stands again, and looks away from her, eyes on the horizon.
  45. 45.
    C: “A-Anon?”
  46. 46.
    >More confused than before, she tries to read his expression.
  47. 47.
    >His eyes are full of vigor, his slight smile eluding to thoughts beyond her reach.
  48. 48.
    C: “I… I want more…”
  49. 49.
    >She tries to push closer to him, but Anon place a hand on her head, stopping her.
  50. 50.
A: “Not now. I want out of this damn forest.”
  51. 51.
C: “Wha-? Don’t defy me! Give me your love!”
  52. 52.
    >Rather than sounding angry, or demanding, her voice sounds hurt. Pleading.
  53. 53.
    >Anon doesn’t respond.
  54. 54.
    >Instead, with one quick motion he picks her up and throws her over his shoulder.
  55. 55.
    C: “W-what are you-?”
  56. 56.
    >Anon walks over to the timberwolf, and it stands up, as if responding to some silent command.
  57. 57.
    >Without a word anon slings Chrysalis onto its back, and then hops on himself.
  58. 58.
    A: “Let’s go.”
  59. 59.
    >The timberwolf shivers, and then takes off at a full sprint.
  60. 60.
    >As the blur of green and brown passes them by, and the sound of creaking wood and snapping twigs echoes around them, Chrysalis cannot help but look up at Anon.
  61. 61.
    >He looks forward, paying the Changeling little mind as they speed through the trees.
  62. 62.
    >His visage is one of determination, of clear intent.
  63. 63.
    >Chrysalis jostles about as the timberwolf leaps across a stream, and is suddenly made aware of the embarrassing position she’s been put in, strewn across the beast’s back like a sack.
  64. 64.
    >She opens her mouth, ready to protest her predicament, but seeing Anon’s face drives the thought from her mind.
  65. 65.
    >Instead, she simply smiles.
  66. 66.
    >”Soon.” She thinks to herself. “Very soon…”
  67. 67.

  68. 68.
    ~
  69. 69.

  70. 70.
    >The sun begins to set as Anon and Chrysalis finally reach the edge of the Everfree forest.
  71. 71.
    >A great plain stretches before them, flowers of every color dot the sea of green grass, rolling across like waves as far as the eye can see.
  72. 72.
    >On the horizon, many miles away, a twinkling reflection of the evening sunlight reveals their destination.
  73. 73.
    >The Crystal Empire.
  74. 74.
    >The timberwolf slows its pace, then stops.
  75. 75.
    >Anon, with a sigh, hops off.
  76. 76.
    >As he lifts Chrysalis from the beast’s back, she finally breaks the silence.
  77. 77.
    C: “Why have we stopped?”
  78. 78.
    >Anon scritches the timberwolf beneath its chin.
  79. 79.
A: “We’ll have to walk the rest of the way.”
  80. 80.
    C: “What? Why?”
  81. 81.
A: “This is as far as he can go.”
  82. 82.
    >With that, Anon nods to the timberwolf. It stares for a moment, then bows its head.
  83. 83.
    >A gust of wind blows around them, and with a flurry of leaves the timberwolf disappears.
  84. 84.
    >After a moment, Chrysalis smirks.
  85. 85.
C: “So you speak ‘timberwolf’ now?”
  86. 86.
    >Anon just smiles at her mocking tone.
  87. 87.
    A: “Nah.”
  88. 88.
    >He chuckles.
  89. 89.
A: “I just- I could tell what it was feeling.”
  90. 90.
    >The smirk on the Changeling’s face grows as she gives him a mischievous look.
  91. 91.
    C: “You’re getting stronger…”
  92. 92.
    >She licks her lips.
  93. 93.
C: “Can you tell what *I’m* feeling?”
  94. 94.
    >Anon ignores her teasing, looking out across the field before them.
  95. 95.
A: “It’s going to take us a while to get there. C’mon.”
  96. 96.
    >Chrysalis doesn’t move.
  97. 97.
    >After a few steps, Anon realizes that she isn’t following him, and turns around.
  98. 98.
    A: “What’s wrong?”
  99. 99.
    C: “Hmph.”
  100. 100.
    >She turns her nose up at him, and looks away dismissively.
  101. 101.
    C: “Nothing.”
  102. 102.
    >She trots over to stand beside him, while refusing to look in his direction.
  103. 103.
    >Anon sighs.
  104. 104.
    A: “Are you… Mad?”
  105. 105.
    >She doesn’t answer.
  106. 106.
    A: “Tired?”
  107. 107.
    >Her ear twitches, but she gives no response.
  108. 108.
    A: “Hmm. Hungry?”
  109. 109.
    C: “Hmph.“
  110. 110.
    >Anon grins.
  111. 111.
A: “Alright, alright. I get it. We’ll take a break here.”
  112. 112.
    C: “That isn’t necessary.”
  113. 113.
    >Her voice is almost a pout.
  114. 114.
    >Anon laughs.
  115. 115.
    A: “Clearly it is.”
  116. 116.
    >He gives a last look over the horizon, then plops down onto the grass.
  117. 117.
    >He pats his lap.
  118. 118.
    A: “C’mere.”
  119. 119.
    >Trying to keep a serious face, Chrysalis silently lays down beside him, and cuddles up close to his side.
  120. 120.
    >A tiny smile betrays her feelings.
  121. 121.
    >Anon smiles, too, and puts an arm around her.
  122. 122.
    >She lets out a quiet gasp at his brazen affection.
  123. 123.
    >Anon closes his eyes and lays back onto the grass, pulling Chrysalis with him.
  124. 124.
    >He opens his eyes and stares up at the stars as he holds her close to him.
  125. 125.
    >He can feel her strange body pulse beneath his grip as she relaxes.
  126. 126.
A: “The stars here are beautiful.”
  127. 127.
    C: “Hmm?”
  128. 128.
A: “I’ve never quite got used to how different the sky is here.”
  129. 129.
    C: “What do you mean?”
  130. 130.
A: “It’s just… The sky is so clear. So pristine. So… I don’t know. It makes me happy just to look at it. But also… It makes me kinda sad. You could never see the stars so clearly back in… Back where I come from.”
  131. 131.
    >Chrysalis looks at the stars, and then leans her head over onto Anon’s shoulder to look at him.
  132. 132.
C: “Where *do* you come from?”
  133. 133.
    >Anon sighs.
  134. 134.
    A: “I don’t know if you’d believe me if I told you.”
  135. 135.
    C: “Huh? Nonsense. Tell me.”
  136. 136.
A: “I’m from another world. Another dimension, or something.”
  137. 137.
C: “How did you get here?”
  138. 138.
A: “I don’t know. One day I just… Woke up. And I was here. Well, in Ponyville.”
  139. 139.
    C: “Ugh. Ponyville.”
  140. 140.
    >Anon laughs.
  141. 141.
A: “The ponies were actually really nice to me when I showed up.”
  142. 142.
    >Chrysalis is silent for a moment, looking wide-eyed at Anon as he gazes towards the heavens.
  143. 143.
C: “So why did you leave? You were pretty far away from that horrible place when we met.”
  144. 144.
    >Anon sighs.
  145. 145.
A: “I’m not like those ponies. They’re too… Nice. I guess I just felt bad being there.”
  146. 146.
    C: “Humans aren’t nice, then?”
  147. 147.
A: “Some are. But most are… How do I put it? Self-centered, I guess. Most people are so focused on their own lives and problems they never really stop to think of anybody else.”
  148. 148.
C: “Hmm. Your world is very different from this one, then?”
  149. 149.
A: “Oh yeah. Way different. For one, there’s no talking ponies. And the ponies we have look a lot different, too. Not nearly as ‘cute’.”
  150. 150.
C: “I think I might enjoy your world, Anon.”
  151. 151.
    >Anon smiles.
  152. 152.
A: “It can be a crazy place. You just might fit in. Why do you hate ponies so much, anyway?”
  153. 153.
C: “Their incessant friendliness and positivity are overbearing. They disgust me.”
  154. 154.
    >Anon chuckles.
  155. 155.
A: “You’ve been pretty friendly yourself, recently, Chryssi.”
  156. 156.
    >She scoffs.
  157. 157.
C: “A Queen is expected to provide for her subjects.”
  158. 158.
A: “I’m not one of your ‘subjects’.”
  159. 159.
C: “You’re my King, and as Queen it is my duty to-”
  160. 160.
    >Anon’s laughter interrupts her, and he sits up, shaking his head.
  161. 161.
C: “W-what? Why are you laughing?”
  162. 162.
    A: “Since when am I a King?”
  163. 163.
    >Realizing the implication of what she just said, Chrysalis begins to stammer out a response, but Anon interrupts her, his tone becoming serious.
  164. 164.
A: “I’m not a puppet. I’m not gonna roll over and let you control me, Chrysalis.”
  165. 165.
    >There is silence between them for several minutes.
  166. 166.
    >Emotions swirl through Chrysalis’s head, and she can’t find the words to express what she wants to say.
  167. 167.
    C: “Anon…”
  168. 168.
    A: “Yeah?”
  169. 169.
C: “Why do you want to go to the Crystal Empire? I thought… Do you really desire conquest?”
  170. 170.
    >Anon looks up at the stars.
  171. 171.
    >”I just want to be free of this curse.” He thinks to himself. “Right?”
  172. 172.
    >He looks down at his hand.
  173. 173.
    >”But… Do I really? I’ve never felt so powerful. I’ve never felt so… Alive.”
  174. 174.
    >He clenches his fist.
  175. 175.
    >”What *do* I want? Maybe… Maybe this is what I’m meant to be. Maybe I’m…”
  176. 176.
    A: “I’m a human. Conquest, war… That’s sorta what we do.”
  177. 177.
C: “So humans are a race of monsters, after all. You’re only following your nature.”
  178. 178.
A: “No, that’s… Not quite right. At least, I don’t think so. Humans in general are… Well I wouldn’t call them monsters.”
  179. 179.
    >Anon looks back towards the sky, just in time to see a shooting star.
  180. 180.
    >A wicked smile creeps upon his face.
  181. 181.
    A: “But me?”
  182. 182.
    >He points at himself with his thumb, and looks down at Chrysalis beside him.
  183. 183.
    A: “I’m definitely a monster.”
  184. 184.
C: “So you’re not lying when you say you want to take the Crystal Empire?”
  185. 185.
    >Anon thinks to himself for a moment, and then suddenly stands up.
  186. 186.
    A: “I’ve decided.”
  187. 187.
    >Chrysalis looks up at him.
  188. 188.
A: “I’m not going to take the Crystal Empire.”
  189. 189.
    C: “You-”
  190. 190.
A: “I’m going to take everything.”
  191. 191.
    C: “Oh?”
  192. 192.
    >Chrysalis’s growing concern and broiling despair suddenly begin to fade, as she watches Anon look out upon the night, an odd fire in his eyes.
  193. 193.
    A: “This world… This perfect little world…”
  194. 194.
    >He raises his arm, hand outstretched, palm facing upwards.
  195. 195.
A: “I’m going to make it mine.”
  196. 196.
    >His fingers curl into a fist.
  197. 197.
A: “No more living like a hermit. No more running away.”
  198. 198.
    >A vision of Twilight and the other ponies flashes through his mind.
  199. 199.
    >“No more pain.” He thinks to himself.
  200. 200.
    C: “Anon…”
  201. 201.
    >Chrysalis is breathing heavily, staring at Anon with glittering eyes, enraptured by his ambition.
  202. 202.
    >He looks down at her.
  203. 203.
    >He’d got so caught up in his own thoughts he almost forgot he was talking to her, and not to himself.
  204. 204.
    >”This curse…” He thinks. “No. Fuck the curse. This is what I want.”
  205. 205.
    A: “That means you, too.”
  206. 206.
    C: “W-what?”
  207. 207.
    >Chrysalis’s expression is a mix of arousal and worry.
  208. 208.
    >The dark flames in his eyes frighten her, but at the same time, he’s everything she wanted him to be.
  209. 209.
    >No.
  210. 210.
    >He’s more.
  211. 211.
    >What is this she’s feeling?
  212. 212.
    >This isn’t love…
  213. 213.
    >Is it?
  214. 214.
    >He steps closer to her, standing directly over her.
  215. 215.
    C: “A-Anon!?”
  216. 216.
A: “You’re the first. The first thing in this world I’m taking.”
  217. 217.
    >He kneels beside her, and reaches out a hand to touch her chin.
  218. 218.
    A: “You’re mine.”
  219. 219.
    >A jolt of fear shoots through her, and something finally snaps.
  220. 220.
    >Chrysalis regains a bit of her composure, and her pride.
  221. 221.
    >She stands straight up, and knocks Anon’s hand away.
  222. 222.
C: “Don’t get ahead of yourself! I am a Queen! I belong to nopony!”
  223. 223.
    >Anon stands tall, and crosses his arms.
  224. 224.
    C: “You-!”
  225. 225.
    >She hesitates.
  226. 226.
C: “If anything, you belong to me! I’ll use you to take my revenge on those detestable ponies!”
  227. 227.
A: “Go on then. Try it.”
  228. 228.
    >Silence.
  229. 229.
    >The two stare each other down.
  230. 230.
    >Anon stands tall, with a stoic stance and evil smirk.
  231. 231.
    >Chrysalis stands in a fighting stance, with a defiant glare, horn beginning to blaze with magical fury.
  232. 232.
    >After several painful seconds, Anon finally moves first, but before he can finish lifting his hand, green electricity explodes from the Changeling Queen’s horn, striking him in the face.
  233. 233.
    >Chrysalis’s eyes spark with energy as she asserts her dominance using her magic.
  234. 234.
    C: “Bow before your Queen!”
  235. 235.
    >He laughs.
  236. 236.
    A: “No.”
  237. 237.
    >With a loud *SNAP* her magic flashes brightly and explodes, and the backlash sends her tumbling backwards.
  238. 238.
    >Anon stands, unscathed, unmoved, still staring her down.
  239. 239.
    >Chrysalis jumps up and gets back into a fighting stance as quickly as she can.
  240. 240.
    >She looks into Anon’s eyes, trying to understand what he’s thinking.
  241. 241.
    >What he’s feeling.
  242. 242.
    >Pride.
  243. 243.
    >Greed.
  244. 244.
    >Lust.
  245. 245.
    >Chrysalis’s eyes widen as his wicked emotions overwhelm her.
  246. 246.
    >Her shoulders slump, her body relaxes, and she lowers her head in defeat.
  247. 247.
    >She is prepared for painful retribution from the Human Monster before her, and closes her eyes as he approaches.
  248. 248.
    >Anon gently trails a finger down the side of her face, and lifts her chin.
  249. 249.
    >With ragged breath she nervously allows him to tilt her head up to face him.
  250. 250.
    A: “Chrysalis.”
  251. 251.
    >There is no anger in his voice.
  252. 252.
    >She slowly opens her eyes, and he smiles.
  253. 253.
    A: “You’re mine.”
  254. 254.
    >Anon kisses her.
  255. 255.
    >She closes her eyes again, savoring the taste of his cruel love.
  256. 256.
    >He breaks the kiss, and she nearly collapses, but he catches her, and leans down, slowly allowing her to regain her footing.
  257. 257.
A: “You want me to be your King?”
  258. 258.
    >She blushes.
  259. 259.
    C: “Yes…”
  260. 260.
    A: “Good.”
  261. 261.
    >He leans towards her ear and whispers.
  262. 262.
A: “Because I want you to be my Queen.”
  263. 263.
