Expiry: Never

  1. In January 2016, in the "My Little Progress:Technology Isn't Magic - thread 13" and "My Little Progress:Technology Isn't Magic - thread 14" threads on /mlp/, I wrote the following unfinished one-shot story based on characters mentioned in Liquid_Plasma's (https://pastebin.com/u/Liquid_Plasma / https://poneb.in/u/Liquid_Plasma) Rise of Nova Rohan story. The original paste I made in 2016 on Pastebin was, at some point, edited by myself and changed considerably. I no longer remember how/why I made the edits. I also was not able to post this on Pastebin because of their filters. So I'm reposting the original here as it appears from the archives. Nothing has been done to clean up the abundant mistakes, grammatical or otherwise. The writing is cliched, the pacing inconsistent, and the story is quite awful, but if you knew me back then you'd be amazed that I was able to write this at all. Different posts separated by "--".

  6. >Your name is Artic Breeze
  7. >You are a border guard
  8. >And you just got lucky
  9. >Unfortunately that doesn't get you a special pass out of work
  10. >But really, all you have to do is stand there and point your guns at the waiting line
  11. >And the boredom ensues
  12. "Gaahh, why can't my shift end already?"
  13. >"Hey, atleast you are gonna get laid" another guard says.
  14. "H-how do you know about that!?"
  15. >"I heard you, dumbass" your comrade says
  16. "Prick.." You mutter to yourself
  17.
  18. 5 hours later
  19.
  20. >The customs booth's clock chimes 7:00
  21. >"Finally!" You think to yourself
  22. >You walk to the locker room to put up your stuff
  23. >You look through the lockers searching for your number
  24. "31, 32... Ahah! Number 33."
  25. >You put your rifle and your helmet inside
  26. >As you are about to close the locker door you notice the note sitting at the bottom
  27. >You recognize the handwriting
  28. >It's Katya's address
  29. >HAPPYDAYS.mp4
  30. >You slip the note into your uniform pocket
  31. >You gleefully trot back to your place to freshen up
  32.

  35.
  36. >You are trotting back to your apartment
  37. >It takes a long time just to get halfway to there, sure you could buy one of those fancy cars but you don't trust them, with a greedy shit named "Filthy Rich" manufacturing them.
  38. >You almost walk straight into the street telling yourself how much you don't trust cars
  39. >Awhile later you spot a small puppy with a batch of newspapers next to him
  40. >"Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Nova Rohan to be given another world record!" He exclaims
  41. >Seems pretty interesting, but you remember Katya
  42. >You try to ignore him and walk past
  43. >"Hey Mister! Would you like a newspaper?"
  44. "No thanks." You say
  45. >"C'mon! You don't want to let a kid starve!
  46. >Other pedestrians start noticing
  47. >SHITSHITSHIT
  48. "No really, I'm fine."
  49. >"Please?"
  50. >A small crowd of people start to form around you and the puppy
  51. >"Hey! Just give the kid the money and take the newspaper! A pony yells
  52. >This is getting out of control
  53. "Look, this is none of your business okay?"
  54. >Your statement only angered the crowd
  55. "Look just because you wave a gun around at foreigners doesn't mean you can't take a fucking newspaper!" One of the angering pedestrians says
  56. >Before you can respond you feel a balled fist hit your snout
  57. >Another punch is thrown, but accidently hits a zebra
  58. >The zebra almost immediately begins to bite the hand that hit him
  59. >A massive fight amongst themselves begins
  60. >nope
  61. >You start running the fuck out of there
  62. >Before you can escape the crowd one more punch is sent directly at your right eye
  63. "Fucking hell!"
  64. >You keep running though, only half paying attention to where you are going
  65. >You hear a horn to your left
  66. >You turn your head and see the oncoming car
  67. >Get outta the way!" The driver says as he tries to brake
  68. >You freeze in your panic
  69. >You begin to run, but it's too late
  70. >You fall unconscious as the sloped front of the car pushes you under and the wheels go over your limbs
  71.
  72. >You always knew you couldn't trust cars

  75.
  76. >You are floating in an endless black void
  77. >You are alone
  78. >You have no body
  79. >Are you dead?
  80. >Are you alive?
  81. >Is this hell?
  82. >Is this limbo?
  83. >Wait, no it can't be.
  84. >There is no afterlife?
  85. >Your thoughts are echoing.
  86. >The hell?
  87. >You hear something.
  88. "Hello? Anyone there?"
  89. >No response.
  90. >But that noise is getting louder.
  91. >You can almost make it out
  92. >Is that an alarm clock?
  93. >No, it can't be. It's to spaced out.
  94. >"beep....beep....beep"
  95. >HOLYSHIT.JPG
  96. >THE VOID IS TEARING OPEN
  97. >YOU ARE BEING SUCKED OUT OF THE VOID
  98.
  99.
  100. >What the fuck
  101. >I'm alive?
  102. >Everything is bright and blurry.
  103. >You blink your eyes a couple times to get them adjusted to the light
  104. >You're in a dull white room
  105. >Your body is in a bed
  106. >Half of you is covered up in casts, and the part you that's not is hooked up with wires to one of Anon's machines
  107. >Looks like you found out where the beeping came from
  108. >Wait, you can't be alive
  109. >You must be in heaven
  110. >Because there is an angel sitting at the end of your bed

  113.
  114. >It's Katya
  115. >She is turned the other way and crying
  116. >But why?
  117. >She only invited you over because you did her a small favor.
  118. >Could she possibly have actual feelings for you?
  119. >You were barely friends, and the only times you talked she either said something about the news or teased you.
  120. >But it doesn't sound exaggerated or fake.
  121. >It's genuine sobbing.
  122. >You hear the door opening and closing slowly.
  123. >You close your eyes immediately.
  124. >"Ma'am, your friend has been out for a long time now."
  125. >"I know."
  126. >"Look I just want to make this easier on you, financially. I think we should just stop delaying his trip, if you know what I mean."
  127. >"I-I'm not ready to let go yet."
  128. >"Alright, but we've had cases like this before and trust me, if they don't wake up now, then they won't ever."
  129. >Sounds of movement to the door, which then opens and slams shut.
  130. >You open your eyes.
  131. "Why hello there" you say casually.
  132. >She jerks her head around to face you .
  133. >Her face stained with tears, lights up at the sight of you conscious.
  134. >She runs to your bedside and smothers you with a hug.
  135. "Hey! Your choking me here!"
  136. >She pulls out of the hug.
  137. >"Sorry, I thought I was gonna lose you forever."
  138. "It's was just a small accident."
  139. >She points to your casts.
  140. >"Small? You broke half of your limbs and you went into a coma."
  141. "Really? How long has it been?"
  142. >"Four weeks."

  144.
  145. Then I gave up because I had no idea how to follow this up. I may return to this series in the future, though Liquid_Plasma hasn't been seen since 2018/19.
