Expiry: Never

  1. >Day Dash
  2. >Nobody kicks clouds quite like you do
  3. >Not as fast
  4. >Not as accurately
  5. >Certainly not as hard
  6. >It isn't easy being the premier pegasus in Equestria but someone has to do it, might as well be you
  7. >"She is just sitting there again" spoke one mare
  8. >"As per usual" another replied
  9. >Flitter and Cloud Chaser... ever jealous of your physical prowess
  10. "I could sit on this cloud all day and would still get more done than the both of you combined" you call back to them
  11. >Flitter was biting her lip about to say something but her other half spoke first
  12. >"You have been a pain in the flank ever since you got that raise"
  13. >You don't mean to hold it over their heads but somethings cant be helped
  14. "Things happen for a reason fillies, the mares up top know when they got something special" you respond, unable to stop grinning
  15. >Their practically green with envy
  16. >Without missing a beat Flitter flips her mane from her eyes and locks to yours
  17. >"This is exactly why you don't get invited to hang out with the rest of the weather ponies Dash, you are insufferable!"
  18. >This comment has irked you
  19. >The great Rainbow Dash hangs out with whoever she wants, when she wants
  20. >Rising to your full height you level your gaze back down to hers
  21. "Take it back"
  22. >Flitter took a step back, but her companion rose to meet you
  23. >"What are you gonna do if we don't" she taunted
  24. >Extending your wings to their full length you leap from your cloud and land down onto theirs
  25. >For all her posturing when you two stand muzzle to muzzle, she comes up short
  26. >Your wings extending more than a bit past her own, your point is proven without words
  27. >As all things should be
  28. >"You just got lucky when you got that raise.... Rainbow Crash"
  29. >Eye twitch
  30. >Did she just say what you think she said
  31. >Flitter seems to be mumbling to herself, unsure of what to do
  32. >Cloud Chaser however seems pretty proud of herself
  33. "You and me are gonna sort this out right now"
  34. "First one to Ponyville wins"
  35. >Cloud Chaser doesn't seem fazed by this
  36. >"Why would I do that?"
  37. >"We are on the clock"
  38. >Horseapples she's right
  39. >You have to defend your status though, cant let this go unpunished
  40. "Winner gets to make the loser do anything they want"
  41. >This may seem risky but their is no chance she could fly faster than you
  42. >Her ears perk up upon hearing your terms
  43. >"Deal, no takebacks either Crash"
  44. >A vein could be seen practically popping from your neck
  45. >Taking up position next to her you eye your destination
  46. >You were probably a few minutes from Ponyville by your estimations
  47. >Flitter stands across from the two of you on the clouds edge
  48. >"Are you sure about this Cloud Chaser?"
  49. >"What if someone catches us" she asks warily
  50. >She didn't even spare her a glance
  51. >"Count us down Flitter"
  52. >Closing her eyes she begins
  53. >"3, 2, 1... Go!"
  54. >With a swift beat of your wings, the cloud beneath your feet quickly becomes nothing more than scattered ozone
  55. >Picking up speed was not a problem with your lithe and athletic frame
  56. >Another beat of your wings would carry you further up into the sky, your peripherals beginning to blur
  57. >While you couldn't see Cloud Chaser, you doubt she is anywhere close to you or Ponyville
  58. >Soaring across the sky you begin to worry
  59. >What if she was tricking you, she was probably back there telling everyone you just up and left with no warning
  60. >You gotta turn back before they suspect something
  61. >you gotta ~fwoosh~
  62. >While you were stuck in your head Cloud Chaser flew straight past you
  63. >Her wake sending you careening down while your wings flap helplessly
  64. >Narrowing your dive, you regain control as you lose more altitude to pick up speed
  65. >No way you can lose to her
  66. >You mentally shudder to think what she would do to hurt your pride
  67. >No
  68. >It doesn't matter, she isn't going to beat you
  69. >Pulling up from your dive proves to be no effort at all
  70. >Ahead of you, her silhouette is seen drawing dangerously close to town
  71. >She has the height advantage but you are already gaining on her again
  72. >Wings straining against the drag you press on
  73. >The towns outskirts were but a few seconds away
  74. >Not enough time, yet you are so close now
  75. >So very close
  76. >In you peripheral you could see Cloud Chasers underside as you both began to narrow, neck to neck
  77. >This is it
  78. >Your last chance
  79. >You see a familiar red barn waiting to meet the both of you
  80. >Flapping your wings as hard as they will flex you straighten your body to its utmost point
  81. >Practically an arrow flying through the sky
  82. >Your eyes barely able to open from the wind lashing at them
  83. >And yet, to your absolute horror
  84. >That two toned mane is all you see
  85. >As both of you fly by the barn your passing kicks up all manner of debris into the air behind you
  86. >An orange blur on the ground can be seen shaking its hoof at the two of you
  87. >Extending your wings you rapidly come to a stop
  88. >Ahead of you, Cloud Chaser is already waiting for you
  89. >Dread
  90. >"Well Dash, a bet is a bet"
  91. >Struggling to even look at her you nod
  92. "Yeah, I know"
  93. >Her smile turns to a neutral expression upon hearing you words
  94. >"Oh c'mon Dash, its not like I'm gonna make you do something crazy"
  95. >Sympathy?
  96. "No, do your worst"
  97. >You raise your head and look her in the eyes
  98. "You won so do what you will"
  99. >Nobody looks down on you, you simply wont allow it
  100. >"Okay Dash, calm down"
  101. >"Ill come up with something later, for now we need to head back before someone notices were gone"
  102. >Breaking your trance you look at the sun
  103. >Horse apples, she's right
  104. >In the distance you see the orange blur from before galloping towards the two of you
  105. >With a gust of air under both of your wings you return to the air
  106. >You both look back at the pony giving chase as you both climb back to the sky
  107. >Definitely gonna get an earful from Applejack later about messing up the farm by flying to close
  108. >A problem for future Rainbow
  109. .......
  110.
  111. "Uhhhhhhhh"
  112. >Plopping down on your couch you let out all of todays stresses
  113. >Stretching your legs and wings, you lie you down on your couch exhausted
  114. >You haven't lost a race in like, forever
  115. >To top it off you lost it to Cloud Chaser
  116. >Now you cant get Flitters face out of your head
  117. >Her big dumb smile as Cloud Chaser recounted the race
  118. >Another battle for another day
  119. >You wonder what she will make you do
  120. >Hopefully its nothing too bad
  121. >Maybe you can talk you way out of it...
  122. >Ruffling your hair with your hooves your mind comes to a stop
  123. >No
  124. >A problem for future dash you reassure
  125. >Turning your neck a slight soreness pangs up your spine
  126. >You need to relief some stress
  127. >Creakk...
  128. >As if on time your door opens, your ears swiveling towards it
  129. >Not getting up from your position you instead flip over onto your back, splaying your hooves aside
  130. >Anypony walking by would see everything you have to offer
  131. >"You here Dash?" calls a voice
  132. >Saying nothing you instead try putting on the most seductive smile you can
  133. >Hoofsteps begin getting closer as you strike your pose
  134. >"What are you doing over he.."
  135. >Standing over you, a pegasus with a green dull green coat is looking at you trying to hold back a grin
  136. >"Whats this?" he says holding back a laugh
  137. "I just wanted to welcome ~my~ stallion home"
  138. >He puts on a more stern face
  139. >"Okay Dash what did you do?"
  140. >"Should I be worried?"
  141. >Grrrrrr....
  142. "I'm just trying to be sexy for you, not everything has an ulterior motive..." you trail off
  143. >Setting a small brown parcel down onto the table he rolls over onto the couch up against your back
  144. >His frame eclipsing yours, he pulls you against him with his hooves
  145. >"I wont argue then" he says as you nuzzle your head back into his neck
  146. >The stress from today drains from your body while another pressure begins building in you
  147. >He nips your ear as you feel his breath against your neck sending shivers down your spine
  148. >You cant help but rub your thighs together as a familiar heat rises onto your cheeks
  149. >Being the little spoon always made you blush
  150.
  151. >Next day dash
  152. >Best and worst part of the day
  153. >Waking up in a warm bed, followed by having to get out of it
  154. >Memories of the night before floating to the front of your mind, you pull the covers of your bed tighter
  155. >From the couch to the bed it probably looked like a whirlwind tore through the house
  156. >Flipping over you are met with.... nothing
  157. >Anon always left before the sun came up
  158. >It didn't bother you much
  159. >He was always busy and he never said anything when you were tied up so it worked out you guess
  160. >Pulling the covers away you hop out of bed, feathers disheveled and fur matted
  161. >Scrunching your nose, your fist stop would be the bath
  162. >Shuffling out of bed and into the living room you spot a small brown box still on the little table by the door
  163. >Anon must have forgotten it when he left
  164. >You could give it to him later if you see him, though neither of you had plans to meet so it was a slim chance
  165. >Trotting past it you continue to your destination
  166. >Water pouring onto your coat, you go through a mental checklist for today
  167. >Gotta pay some debts, visit Scoots, and meet your friends at Sugarcube Corner
  168. >Its been a while since everyone has had a chance to get together and you were looking forward to it
  169. >All of you either had jobs or responsibilities you had to keep up with but luckily the stars aligned and everyone was off today
  170. >By the time you were done the sun had begun shining through the windows
  171. >You needed to get moving if you wanted to get everything done on time
  172. >Trotting back to the main room you gather up a small bag of bits, giving a side glance to Anons parcel, still on the table
  173. >Maybe you should take it with you just incase you see him
  174. >Sweeping the package into a bag with your wing, you fasten it and your bag of bits to your side and make for the door
  175. >Soaring through the sky never got old
  176. >The wisps of clouds sticking to your wings as you pierce through them
  177. >It was more than second nature to you
  178. >You think you could close your eyes and fly forever sometimes
  179. >Maybe one day when you are rich and lead the wonderbolts it might happen
  180. >Approaching Ponyville, you land on the edge of town
  181. >Ponies complained when you did fly-bys to close to the buildings and you didn't need anything messing today up so you opted to walk
  182. >Even on the edge of town you could see ponies going about their day
  183. >Making you way through the street you don't see any ponies you actually knew
  184. >If Twilight could read your thoughts she would probably give you some kind of lesson in "Friendship" or whatever, but honestly it never bothered you that much
  185. >Having a small group of friends like yours was more your speed
  186. >Besides, you would have all the time in the world to make more friends when you become famous
  187. >Trotting into the town hall you are greeted by a short grey mare, her eyes never bothering to look up from her ledger
  188. >"Name?"
  189. "Rainbow Da-"
  190. >"The mayor is waiting for you upstairs" she says cutting you off
  191. "Oookay, thank you?"
  192. >It was all you could do to not say something but you were on your best behavior, nothing was going to go wrong today
  193. >Following her instructions you take the stairs to the mayors office, stopping to knock before you enter
  194. >"Come in" a voice spoke from inside
  195. >The mayors office
  196. >"Rainbow, how are you?" asked the tan mare from behind her desk
  197. >Returning the smile you approach her unfastening the bag of bits
  198. "Good, Ms. Mayor, thank you again for letting me pay you back as slow as I have"
  199. "Money hasn't been the best lately but I just got a raise so we will be square soon" you reassure her with a smile of your own
  200. >Waving a hoof she gives you a polite laugh as you toss the small bag onto her desk
  201. >"Don't worry so much about it Rainbow, I know you wouldn't cheat us"
  202. >"I'm just glad no one was hurt"
  203. >You lower your head in embarrassment
  204. >A few weeks ago you may have had too much cider and you may have crashed onto the podium of the monthly town meeting sending it crumbling down
  205. >It was hardly your fault and Trixie's fat flank being up there, lecturing people about magic didn't help either
  206. "Yeah well gotta do what's right and all that" you say sheepishly
  207. >Looking at the clock on the desk you realize its already 10
  208. >You still have to check in with Scoots and meet the girls at Sugarcube Corner at noon
  209. "Sorry Mayor but I have to cut this short, I still have some things to take care of"
  210. >"Of course, come by anytime as long as you haven't drank any cider"
  211. >Deadpanning you turn to the door and make your way back outside
  212. >Passing the front desk you see the grey mare at the front still buried in her ledger
  213. >Without ever looking to you she just gives you a snort
  214. >Whatever you mentally chide as you took back to the streets
  215. >Maybe Twilight needs to give her some friendship lessons you laughed to yourself,
  216. >Passing through the market square your eye catches at a familiar apple shaped sign
  217. >A small yellow filly running the stand waving her hoof, beckoning you over
  218. >"Hey Rainbow, watcha doin up this earlier?"
  219. >Do you really sleep in so much that other ponies notice?
  220. >Not losing your composure you respond
  221. "What's up Applebloom, where's Aj?"
  222. "You aren't running the stand alone are you?" giving her a questing glance
  223. >"Nooo of course not, she had to run back to the farm to get more apples, we sold out!" she exclaimed pulling out a big bag of bits
  224. "Wow you all are killing it today" you say, eyeing the bag of bits practically bursting from the top
  225. >"Yeah its been great!"
  226. >"So what're you up to Dash?" she questions again
  227. "Im heading to go check in with Scootaloo, her aunts are out of town so I visit her most days"
  228. >She turns her head in thought before reaching under the stand and pulling out a few apples
  229. >"I didn't know she was by herself, we haven't had a chance to meet up at the clubhouse in a few days" she says almost guiltily
  230. "She knows ponies are busy and the Cakes take care of her so don't think she's helpless" you assure her
  231. >Placing the apples onto the wooden counter she looks to you expectantly
  232. >"Can you give her these, tell her they are from us and we'll hangout soon"
  233. >Great idea, but before you grab them you realize you didn't bring any extra bits
  234. >Mentally calculating how long it would take to fly back home and grab enough for the apples she puts them in a small bag and rolls it to you
  235. >"Its a gift from us to her, you ain't gotta pay nothin" she smiles
  236. >A very kind gesture no doubt learned from her sister
  237. "Thanks Bloom but ill make sure to pay Aj back" you say, securing the bag of apples to your side
  238. >"No problem, the cutie mark crusaders look out for each other" pumping her little hoof into the air
  239. "Tell your sister I said she better not be late today"
  240. >"Yes ma'am" she affirms giving you a small salute
  241. >It was so cute you could die, but alas you had to get moving
  242. >Giving her a final wave you continue your way to Scootaloos house
  243. >Her home was as spacious as it was empty
  244. >You hated that her parents left her alone so often but there wasn't much you could do
  245. >At least she had her aunts, the Cakes, and you but it still wouldn't compare to a normal family
  246. >It isn't long before you are standing in front of her home
  247. >Approaching the door you prepare to knock but as your hoof connects the door is yanked open causing you to tumble forward
  248. >"HEY RAINBOW!" yelled the small orange filly looking down on your now prone form
  249. "Did you have to do that Scoots?"
  250. >"Gotta keep you on your hooves!"
  251. >"How else are you gonna lead the Wonderbolts?" she replied excitedly
  252. "Okay let me up so I can get inside"
  253. >Scootaloo practically flew to the ceiling excited just to be near you
  254. >Rising up you turn to unfasten the small pouch of apples you brough only to find the pouch had loosened, lying on the ground behind you along with a certain brown parcel underneath it
  255. "Shoot I hope it didn't get crushed" you say moving the apples aside
  256. >Picking up the parcel, you fears are confirmed and the box is almost flattened, a faint crunching could be heard within as you scooped the remnants up
  257. >"Was that a present for me?" asked Scoots
  258. >What are going to tell Anon?
  259. >You didn't even know what was inside of it and you certainly weren't going to see now!
  260. "No it was Anon's, he accidentally left it at my place earlier..." trailing off, thinking what you were going to do
  261. >A scowl immediately formed on her face as she grumbled something under her breath
  262. >"Why did you get him a present?"
  263. >"He didn't even remember to get it from you after you gave it to him!"
  264. >Ehhh this again
  265. >Scootaloo didn't like that you and Anon were together or whatever you would call it
  266. "It wasn't a present for him, he just left it at my house on accident" you say, trying to defuse the situation
  267. >"Yeah well its a lousy thing to do anyway"
  268. >"I dont know why you give him the time of day"
  269. >You didn't really know how to respond so you stick with what your parents always told you when you asked questions you weren't ready to hear the answers to
  270. "You will understand when your older squirt" you reply, ruffling her mane
  271. >"Whatever forget it"
  272. >Placing the now flattened box on a nearby table you place the bag of apples at her hoofs
  273. "Applebloom wanted me to give these to you and said she wanted to hangout soon"
  274. >"Thanks but im not hungry right now
