-
>hazy sunray nervously paced back and forth
-
>2 AM came and went, on a school night nonetheless
-
>still no sign of her black and green daughter, who swore up and down shed be back before curfew
-
>her panicked mental rabbit-holes were stifled for only seconds at a time with every chuff of her cigarette
-
>until finally, a vibration caught her hoof through the cloud floor
-
>followed by the click of a doorknob, and it swinging open
-
>relief washed over her, the shaky panic now gone
-
>now she could lock in to a more disciplinary conviction
-
>she met her slim and lanky daughter halfway to the kitchen
-
>"Green Fuckin' Nigga,"
-
>she pulled her cig out with her right wing
-
>"where the tartarus were you!?" she interrogated as quietly as possible,
-
>"im SORRY mom, discords night came early!"
-
>uh-
-
>"there were like, 10 thousand heats of the hundred-flap dash and only after that coach put me in the 4x4 last minute so i had to stay for the WHOLE thing even though i shouldve been finished like 2 hours before that! like we literally got to school 20 minutes ago," green explained, stopping to let it sink in
-
>silence lingered as a stifled giggle-smile spread across hazys face
-
>"what did you say before all that?"
-
>"im sorry mom?"
-
>"after"
-
>"discords night came early?"
-
>hazy belly laughed, trying to keep it quiet so as not to wake her husband on the other side of the wall
-
>then took a small drag of the dart between her wing feathers
-
>"my Luna you are your mother's daughter."
-
>green was confused, it was a phrase her mom threw around a lot
-
>specifically whenever theyd show up chaotically late to something
-
>"lemme tell you a story green."
-
>green tiredly deflated
-
>"im like, sweaty, can i go shower?" she politely requested
-
>"of course! go eat somethin' too, i made haypasta"
-
>green wearily smiled. carbs was always the reward for a good meet
-
>then slowly mozied her way past hazy to the shower room
-
>as she passed by, hazy tore the white and black "#3" sticker on greens flank off with her mouth
-
>"thanks mom :)"
-
-
>about 20 minutes later, green saunters out to their porch, acting as more of a balcony for the cloud island they lived on
-
>hazy gazing out over the inky sky like the sun had just went down
-
>occasional specks of other pegasi's houses dotted the atmosphere alongside the stars
-
>hazy chuffed her cigarette
-
>"come'ere"
-
>green saddled up next to her
-
>"you know why i say that all the time?"
-
>she shook her head
-
>"well, you know i grew up up-north in a city called Deertroit. the night before nightmare night we celebrated what we called discord's night. and that night you did all sorts of pranks like egg ponies' houses, ding dong ditch ponies..."
-
>"did you ever, like, target ponies that had different brands of bikes?" green knew plenty of lore about her moms hometown
-
>it was called motor city for a reason
-
>"oh yeah. we set neighpanese bikes on fire."
-
>green was taken aback by how casually hazy dropped that information on her
-
>"so anyway. me and my friends, these three colts on my block would always hang out and raise tartarus, even after discord's night. and you know, wed always stay out past curfew and your grandma would get on my case for it, so i just started saying 'discords night came early' whenever id come home late. like 'hey mom! discords night came early!' and you know they always knew i was out and about so it was like 'hey, im home for dinner!'"
-
>her daughter was blissfully resting with eyes shuf on the cloud floor
-
>rear legs in full sploot
-
>wings draped along her sides and onto the ground, pulsating
-
>"foal?"
-
>greens eyes opened slowly, and she nodded her head to confirm she was listening
-
>the pasta crash was already hitting
-
>"yeah, your mother was a little devil"
-
>green yawned a good one
-
>"yeah... that sounds fun" mumbled out of her snoot
-
>very clearly past the limit of her energy
-
>"oh foal..." hazy finished her cigarette, tossed the butt, and nuzzled her body alongside green
-
>"get some rest Puck~ you flew your rump off i can tell"
-
>a few caring mlems on the top of greens head rendered her a puddle sleeping on the clouds
