Authors note: I had a thought to make a mythical spirit that inhabits the Everfree Forest that searches the forest for lost foals she can comfort. She is a kind spirit however her magic isn't very forgiving as the lost foals she finds aren't always foals. This results in some very unfortunate transformations for her victims. I made a compilation of stories with this character, so enjoy and feel free to use Mama Mare in your own stories if you wish

-
123.

-
124.

-
125.

165.
"Mama Mare?"

166.
>He asks before looking to see Nurse Redheart

167.
>He blushes and turns away from her
-
168.

169.
>Peachy hears Nurse Redheart ask about his family as he defiantly sticks he tongue at her
-
170.
"I went in the forest and i saw Mama Mare. She was the most beautif-fuh"
-
171.
>His mind slowly starts to slip forgetting all but the most basic words
-
172.
>Hearing the foal start to slip into mental regression she presses again to get basic info
-
173.
"Please sir, i need your name so we can help you"
-
174.
>He ignores the nurses demands as the world starts to become magical and full of wonder again.
-
175.
>He smiles and looks at the colorful posters on the walls as the nurse desperately tries to get his attention
-
176.
"Sir please, answer me!"
-
177.
"I wike the fowest, with trees and uh"
-
178.
He starts playing with his padding forgetting why he didn't wanna tell her his name so he smiles and proudly tries to tell her
-
179.
"My name is uh, pee, hehe- i said pee"
-
180.
He giggles to himself almost entirely losing his ability to focus
-
181.
"Pretty white pony-"
-
182.
>He babbles before his mind slips away locking him away in nothing but cozy foal thoughts
-
183.
>Nurse Redheart sighs with annoyance
-
184.
"Tell the Mayor we have another Mama Mare foal..."

Apricot Belle Escapes Mama Mare
-
187.
>A lone mare picks mushrooms for her soup at the edge of the everfree forest.

188.
>With basket in mouth, she forages and enjoys nature going about it's way
-
189.
>Apricot Belle has taking such a liking to her carrot and mushroom soup that she's picked the area clean
-
190.
>She hears tales about the forest being haunted and filled with monsters, but surely just a little bit into the forest wouldn't be dangerous
-
191.
>Going deeper into the forest she finds large delicious mushrooms and gathers them into her basket
-
192.
>At this rate I'll have enough mushrooms for an entire week of soups! She thinks to herself before finally filling her basket
-
193.
>Lost in her greed for mushrooms she realizes she had lost her way
-
194.
>Taking a moment to try and orient herself she finds a mist slowly overtaking the forest
-
195.
>Great...now I'm gonna be lost and not see where I'm going she whines to herself with a groan
-
196.
"Are you lost little filly?"
-
197.
>Startled, she turns to see a pregnant white mare with a warm gentle smile
-
198.
>She sets down her basket and starts rambling
-
199.
"Oh yes, could you help me I'm from Ponyville and i..."
-
200.
>She meets eyes with the mare, eyes red like rubies, mane flowing unnaturally in the still forest air
-
201.
>She tenses up as the mare starts walking towards her
-
202.
"Aw, poor little foal, Mama's here, don't worry about a thing"
-
203.
>Deeply worried about what this creature is, she doesn't want to stick around to find out
-
204.
>She picks up her basket without any idea where she is or where she's going
-
205.
>All she knows is to walk the opposite direction of the ghostly mare
-
206.
>Hearing the hoofsteps behind her she occasionally turns around just to see where the mare is
-
207.
>Mama Mare's eyes gaze upon her little filly with pure joy imagining a fun game of follow the leader
-
208.
>Apricot Belle whines as she hears the eerie lullaby softly sung behind her
-
209.
>With the mist seemingly growing thicker she starts to panic
-
210.
>Looking behind her, all she can see are the red eyes of the white unicorn behind her
-
211.
>The sounds of the lullaby echo through her mind embedding them into memory
-
212.
>She stumbles through the forest basket in mouth dropping a few tripping over rocks and fallen branches
-
213.
>With Mama Mare's eyes still close behind gently glowing in the darkening mist she starts to cry
-
214.
"Poor little foal, don't cry, let Mama give you a warm hug"
-
215.
>Mama Mare says dreamily wanting to make her little filly feel safe and loved
-
216.
>Dropping her basket in panic she starts galloping through the forest crying dodging trees as they come into view
-
217.
>With the lullaby growing faint she believes she lost her
-
218.
>With a thud she trips over a fallen branch wincing and feeling her legs
-
219.
>Hearing the lullaby slowly get louder she gets back to her hooves and shuffles along
-
220.
>In the dark mist the lullaby slowly fades
-
221.
>She sits and catches her breath looking around in fear wondering if she got away
-
222.
>With the snap of a branch she sees the glowing red eyes in the mist
-
223.
>Shaking off the pain Apricot Belle gallops through the forest
-
224.
>The haunting lullaby causes her to yell into the woods
-
225.
"Please help me! Somepony please!"
-
226.
>With a break in the mist, she almost cries with joy galloping into the clearing.
-
227.
>With Ponyville in the distance, she starts running for safety free of the mist.
-
228.
>She stops to catch her breath turning to the forest to see if the mare will pursue
-
229.
>in the distance she sees the ghostly white mare standing at the edge of the forest, watching her every move
-
230.
>With the lullaby floating on the gentle breeze, Apricot Belle screams and gallops for Ponyville horrified by the events that just transpired
-
231.
>Though Apricot thinks she got away, Mama Mare smiles with joy
-
232.
-
233.
>Traumatized by what she saw she desperately asks for any wisdom on the creature
-
234.
>Not even Twilight Sparkle had any idea what she had seen.
-
235.
>Nasty ponies tease her telling her is too late
-
236.
>"Once you hear her lullaby, you're destined to be her foal"
-
237.
>The Ponies would say
-
238.
>The only one with any answers was nurse Redheart.
-
239.
>Nopony believed Redheart when she said Mama Mare wasn't just a nursery tale
-
240.
>She had only seen victims but never anyone with an encounter who was able to tell the tale before regressing completely
-
241.
>Apricot Belle trembles with worry with her only solace being she's the only one who got away.
-
242.
>Hearing stories of foals waking up crying about Mama Mare before their mind fades makes her sick to her stomach
-
243.
>She leaves for home, thankful for how lucky she was to have escaped
-
244.
-
245.
>Under a full moon, Apricot Belle makes herself a carrot soup
-
246.
>though she doesn't worry about Mama Mare anymore she is scared senseless by the mere sight of the forest
-
247.
>The townsponies think she's crazy or making up the story for attention but she know what she saw
-
248.
>On that cool night the mist rolls into Ponyville nothing out of the ordinary
-
249.
>She starts closing her windows to keep the warmth in
-
250.
>Closing the last window, her mind shatters hearing the lullaby floating on the wind
-
251.
>She looks out to the night streets and meets eyes with the smiling white mare
-
252.
>She slams the window shut locking the doors her eyes watching every corner
-
253.
>Even as her soup boils over she frantically cowers as the lullaby penetrates the walls.
-
254.
>She holds her breath as the hoofsteps clop outside her house.
-
255.
>She hides under her table watching the mare's ghostly shadow passes through the beams of light at each window
-
256.
>She quietly sobs to herself desperately begging for mama mare to go away
-
257.
>Even as the sounds of clopping hoofsteps disappear into the night she remains frozen under the table
-
258.
>"Please, somepony help me" she thinks to herself
-
259.
-
260.
>Every attempt to get the townsponies to see Mama Mare, the mare never appears almost as if to mock her
-
261.
>Fearing what would happen if she stayed in Ponyville, she left for Baltimare to stay with family
-
262.
>As she finally calmed herself with the help of family, she finally settled into her life
-
263.
>With Ponyville and Mama Mare far in her past memories, she sleeps soundly
-
264.
>the past year enjoying her new house and finally being back with family have done wonders to calm her anxiety
-
265.
>Even on this misty night in Baltimare she is able to relax
-
266.
>She reads her evening book, tales of a land before Equestria, She fills her mind with wonder before hearing the chime of the clock tower reminding her how late it is
-
267.
>The chime echoes through the misty air as she closes her book and turns out the lights
-
268.
>Closing her eyes and imagining the world of wonder from the book she starts to question why the last chime seems to be hanging in the air
-
269.
>Chalking it up to some strange echo she ignores it till the echo fades into a lullaby
-
270.
>Confused, it takes a moment for her brain to process what that song is
-
271.
>A painful shock of adrenaline pumps though her body
-
272.
>How did she find me! Baltimare is so far away! She asks herself unable to process the reality
-
273.
>With the lullaby fading again and the sound of the last chime fading into the night sky, she has to collect her thoughts and take a breath to calm down
-
274.
"I'm insane, I'm insane, she can't get me here" she tells herself with her old mantra to try and get sleep
-
275.
>Hearing the clop of a hoofstep in the room she panics
-
276.
>By the time her eyes fly wide open with terror a white hoof draws her in for a cuddle
-
277.
>The lullaby softly whispers into her ear as she tears up in Mama Mare's embrace
-
278.
>She wants to scream but her teeth clench as she tries to squirm away from the Mare's hug
-
279.
"You're really good at hide and seek young filly"
-
280.
>Mama Mare teases nuzzling her foal with joy
-
281.
"N-no, I'm not a filly, I'm a mare!"
-
282.
>She whines crying into her pillow
-
283.
"That's right, you're gonna grow up to be a pretty mare"
-
284.
>Mama Mare gives her filly a heartfelt kiss on the cheek casting her spell
-
285.
"Please, no! Don't do this, Mama Mare! Please no!"
-
286.
>She tearfully begs as she feels her body relaxing and shrinking
-
287.
>She desperately tries to fight it but as she is regressed to a little foal all she can do is cry as her mouth is gagged by a pacifier
-
288.
>With her diaper lovingly taped in place, Mama Mare cuddles her little foal
-
289.
>Sobbing into the pacifier she recalls what nurse Redheart said
-
290.
>No magic remedy exists to reverse her spell and shortly after you will lose your mental abilities

>She can only sob helplessly as Mama Mare tries to gently rock her to sleep
-
292.
"Poor little Filly, you must have had a terrible nightmare. Good thing mama is here for you"
-
293.
>Mama Mare blissfully smiles giving her foal another kiss
-
294.
>Apricot Belle trembles and finally brings herself to accept her fate
-
295.
>Some part of her finds relief in the worry being over
-
296.
>All those sleepless nights, hearing the lullaby where it doesn't exist, having a panic attack every time she sees the mist, it's all finally over
-
297.
>The doom of being Mama Mare's little filly doesn't seem to upset her as much as she thought it would
-
298.
>With the relief and despair mellowing each other out, she finds comfort
-
299.
>As she turns and gets pulled into Mama Mare's chest fluff she finds herself cuddling her for comfort as her cries start to hush themselves
-
300.
"There there little filly, Mama's here for you"
-
301.
>She quietly whispers cradling Apricot Belle tight against her chest
-
302.

Cherry Sprout Loses His Kite
-
304.
>A Colt and his friends happily play with their kites soaring high over the fields near Ponyville
-
305.
>Pushing it further and further he lets out more and more string till he can barely see it in the sky
-
306.
>With the kite slowly flying more erratically he tries to maintain control
-
307.
>Trying to reel it in the kite veers off course careening into the forest far into the distance
-
308.
"NO! My kite!"
-
309.
>Cherry Sprout cries out yanking on the string in futility
-
310.
>His friends gather round
-
311.
"Sorry dude, it was a good kite"
-
312.
>With a misguided sense of confidence he believes it's not too far into the forest
-
313.
"I think we can get it"
-
314.
>His friends gasp in worry
-
315.
"My parents say the forest is super dangerous, my mom would kill me if she found out i went in there!"
-
316.
>With a grunt the proud little Colt ventures to the treeline alone
-
317.
"Fine, if you're too scared to help, I'll just go and get it alone"
-
318.
-
319.
>Thinking he saw the kite somewhere near the edge of the forest he rushes in quickly getting himself lost in the forest
-
320.
>With a low mist hanging in the forest he looks up into the canopy trying to find his kite
-
321.
>As the mist grows thicker and he loses his way, little Sprout starts to whine
-
322.
>Running through the forest he tries to find his way out looking for any familiar landmarks before he trips over a rock hurting his little hoof
-
323.
>Scared and hurt, he finally starts to cry alone and trapped in the woods
-
324.
>The sounds of hoof steps frighten him but he looks up to see a lone white unicorn mare
-
325.
"Are you lost my little Colt?"
-
326.
>She asks with her mane flowing in the still forest air
-
327.
>Sniffling he wipes his tears
-
328.
"Yea, can you help me? I lost my kite"
-
329.
>Cherry Sprout asks nervous of ruby eyed mare gazing upon him with adoration
-
330.
>With a helping hoof she gets the Colt to his hooves
-
331.
>Just her mere touch seems to put the Colt at ease and heal his hurt hoof
-
332.
"Let's see if we can find your kite"
-
333.
>She smiles as the proud Colt nuzzles against her happy to have a grown up there for him
-
334.
>With a calming walk through the forest, Cherry Sprout plays climbing on logs and jumping from rock to rock under the loving supervision of Mama Mare
-
335.
>The Colts eyes shoot wide with delight as the glittery red kit is visible in the treetops
-
336.
"There! I see it"
-
337.
>Mama Mare's horn glows and retrieves the kite from the tree canopy returning it to the adoring earth pony colt
-
338.
"What do you say my little Colt?"
-
339.
>Mama Mare smiles with joy seeing the happy smile on his face
-
340.
"Thank you Mama Mare!"
-
341.
>With a little chuckle she leads him back to the edge of the forest
-
342.
"You're welcome my little colt"
-
343.
>Reaching the edge of the forest Cherry Sprout can see his friends all still playing and waiting for their friend to return
-
344.
>Mama Mare stops as Cherry Sprout turns to her blushing
-
345.
"Thank you Mama Mare, i don't know what would have happened if you weren't there"
-
346.
>Mama Mare gasps in delight as the little Colt gives her a good-bye hug
-
347.
"Mama Mare is always here for you. Every lost foal can call me Mama"
-
348.
>With a kiss on his forehead he feels the mare simply vanish into the mist as it retreats into the forest
-
349.
>Frightened by the mysterious spirit, he tries looking to see where she must have gone
-
350.
>With Mama Mare nowhere in sight he looks to his friends playing in the field
-
351.
"Hey guys, i found it!"
-
352.
>He cheers galloping across the field ready to fly his kite once more
