Expiry: Never

  1. 1.
Something quick and hopefully cute for that one EQG Pinkie Pie thread.
  2. 2.

  3. 3.
    >Another long day of college is behind you
  4. 4.
    >Your wrist is cramping from taking notes for a psychology lecture your professor was not at all subtle about being important content for later tests
  5. 5.
    >Feet are aching from getting all over campus
  6. 6.
    >You swear your classes were designed by committee to make you walk at least ten thousand steps a day
  7. 7.
    >And you spent the last of your bi-weekly check on some cheap ass pizza
  8. 8.
    >With about four days to go before you get your next lifeline
  9. 9.
    >All in all?
  10. 10.
    >Just a pretty shitty day from top to bottom
  11. 11.
    >But that's fine, because you're just a few minutes from your girlfriend's dorm
  12. 12.
    >And if there's anyone that can salvage this flaming turd of a day, it's Pinkamena Diane Pie
  13. 13.
    >Unlocking her room with the spare key you were so graciously given, you inhale and get ready to loudly announce yourself before you realize how dark it is inside
  14. 14.
    >And... quiet
  15. 15.
    >There's not nearly enough room in this space for her to not be already ambushing you if she was trying to surprise you
  16. 16.
    >You have a feeling what's going on here...
  17. 17.
    >... And that intuition is well trained when you lift the blanket on Pinkie's bed, exposing a flat haired girl looking completely sullen, staring blankly at her phone as she scrolls through MyStable
  18. 18.
"Hey, Pinks. One of those days, huh?"
  19. 19.
    >Her baby blue eyes barely tick up to acknowledge you, but in the light cast by her phone you can see her nod her head
  20. 20.
    >Alright then
  21. 21.
    >Time to put your shit aside, because your girlfriend needs you, Anon
  22. 22.
    >You gently prod her tummy to encourage her to make room
  23. 23.
    >When she squirms back you slide onto the bed, sitting on her blanket to make sure she can't fully hide underneath it and pulling your laptop out of your bag
  24. 24.
    >You fire up Notepad and get to work on the Composition II essay you haven't really put much effort into
  25. 25.
    >It's due on the other side of the weekend, so you really should take the time
  26. 26.
    >...
  27. 27.
    >...
  28. 28.
    >Sorry, what was that?
  29. 29.
    >'What the fuck are you doing'?
  30. 30.
    >Yeah, it can probably be baffling from the outside looking in
  31. 31.
    >But you learned something pretty vital about your girlfriend in the few years you've been together
  32. 32.
    >Pinkie has a lot of love and laughter to give
  33. 33.
    >But she's incredibly tight lipped about her own pain
  34. 34.
    >She managed to put the wool over your eyes the first few 'one of those days'
  35. 35.
    >You made an effort, all sorts of grand gestures to cheer her up
  36. 36.
    >But as you grew closer you saw through the cracks and realized that trying so hard just made her feel like she was obligated to cheer up and 'reward' your efforts
  37. 37.
    >So, you stopped going for broke
  38. 38.
    >And were just... there for her
  39. 39.
    >Kind of like right now
  40. 40.
    >You let her peek over your shoulder to watch you write your essay, answering any questions she softly asked
  41. 41.
    >It certainly helped having someone else to poke holes in the threads of your logic
  42. 42.
    >But even with that help, you couldn't really focus on the assignment for much longer than an hour before you closed Notepad and swapped over to Youtube
  43. 43.
    >No five hour essays about children's cartoons for you today, just mindless videos of people slipping on ice, animal videos, some music
  44. 44.
    >Mental junk food to sate your brain after a long day
  45. 45.
    >The videos of guys doing the splits and landing directly on their junk wasn't really Pinkie's kind of humor, but she did appreciate when you got her attention to look at some cats and the occasional rowdy parrot
  46. 46.
    >Before long you felt arms wrap around your shoulders, a wet cheek pressing against your own
  47. 47.
    >"Thank you, Anon."
  48. 48.
"Of course. Do you feel up to talking about it, now?"
  49. 49.
    >She did
  50. 50.
    >Evidently today was her eldest sister's birthday and while she was pretty upset about missing it
  51. 51.
    >She was even more distraught that she didn't remember until the afternoon and was stressing out about how being away from Canterlot City was making her feel like she was losing her connection to her family
  52. 52.
    >You knew how important her sisters were to her
  53. 53.
    >People thought Pinkie was hyperactive and energetic
  54. 54.
    >And, sure, that wasn't UNTRUE
  55. 55.
    >But those same people had never seen the girl at home like you had, clearly
  56. 56.
    >She fed off her sisters like they were a battery, and they did the same
  57. 57.
    >Even Limestone, begrudgingly, smiled a lot more when Pinkie was home
  58. 58.
"... You know, Canterlot City's only about an hour or two drive away. I bet if we left right now we could make it home before they all go to bed."
  59. 59.
    >You 'oofed' as Pinkie let out a truly demonic screech and tackled you right out of bed
  60. 60.
    >Her hair audibly 'popped' as it immediately re-inflated in the wake of her excitement
  61. 61.
"Y'mean it?! You'd do that for me, Nonny?!"
  62. 62.
    >Pinkie... did not know how to drive
  63. 63.
    >No one really trusted someone as easily distracted as her behind the wheel
  64. 64.
    >And
  65. 65.
    >You say this with all the love in the world for her, you don't really blame folks
  66. 66.
    >Either way, you give her a grin as you untangle yourself from her blanket and limbs (briefly making sure your laptop was okay)
  67. 67.
    >Before nodding
  68. 68.
"Of course, Pinks. I'll be waiting out in the car. Don't take too long, alright?"
  69. 69.
    >"Okey-Dokey-Lokey! We gotta stop and get her a gift, too! I'll be out before you can say 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'!"
  70. 70.
    >With that your girlfriend leaped off you easily to start rummaging through her clothes
  71. 71.
    >You turned the light on for her on your way out
  72. 72.
    >True to form, she was dressed in a riot of color and in your passenger seat within five minutes
  73. 73.
    >Turning the key you leaned back a bit in your seat and got ready for what was likely going to be two straight hours of driving
  74. 74.
    >(To say nothing of how long Pinkie was going to agonize over the perfect gift for Limestone)
  75. 75.
    >But as you glanced over at the young woman vibrating excitedly in her seat
  76. 76.
    >You found that you didn't mind what came next
  77. 77.
    >It was just one of those days, after all
