  2. 2.
    >"Psssst..."
  3. 3.
    >"Hey...Anon!"
  4. 4.
    >"Psssst! Over here!"
  5. 5.
    >"Hey...hey...pssst..."
  6. 6.
    >"Hey Anon!"
  7. 7.
    >"Guess what?..."
  8. 8.
    >"I love you."
  9. 9.

  10. 10.
    "W- What?"
  11. 11.
    >You are Anonymous. Just your everyman at Canterlot High.
  12. 12.
    >You found a note in your locker asking you to come to the far end of the school during lunch, but you didn't know who it was from.
  13. 13.
    >You never would have guessed that you were called out by Sunset Shimmer, one of the prettiest girls in the whole school.
  14. 14.
    >She barely even had your attention before she dropped that on you. You're absolutely FLOORED.
  15. 15.

  16. 16.
    >She said it, plain as day, and now you're just standing there, struck dumb as you stare at her with a look of confusion on her face.
  17. 17.
    >As your brain manages to process it, you can see the warm, loving smile that she put on for her confession start to falter.
  18. 18.
    >You can't just say nothing and let this slip by.
  19. 19.
    >Come on, Anon, use your WORDS.
  20. 20.
    "Sunset.. I..."
  21. 21.
    >As you wrack your brain for a response, she looks at you with those beautiful cyan eyes, but your silence up to now has taken away that daring opening of hers.
  22. 22.
    >The gears in your brain are turning, but you're not fast enough.
  23. 23.
    >She starts to shrink away, and before you can get in a word edgewise, she hurries off.
  24. 24.
    >You're sure that you heard a small "I'll see you later, Anon," as she starts to get out of earshot.
  25. 25.
    >You blew it.
  26. 26.
    >SUNSET SHIMMER confessed her love to you at school and you BLEW IT.
  27. 27.

  28. 28.
    >Before you can try to chase after her, the bell rings.
  29. 29.
    >Now you have to deal with this running through your mind during Math?
  30. 30.
    >You make it into class on time and sit down.
  31. 31.
    >The whole time, you can't focus.
  32. 32.
    >You can't help but think about how you froze up.
  33. 33.
    >Remembering the happiness drain from Sunset's face is even worse.
  34. 34.
    >A girl that you like, a girl that is WAY out of your league likes you and you can't even respond with a simple "yes."
  35. 35.
    >Before you know it, the bell rings again, sending you off to your English class.
  36. 36.
    >You walk into Ms. Cherilee's room and take a seat, far enough away from the front to not gain much attention, but not so far back that you make yourself an obvious target for being called on.
  37. 37.
    >You'd probably be distracted from yet another lecture by your mistake earlier if not for the fact that you're slowly becoming aware of a feeling that someone's staring at you.
  38. 38.

  39. 39.
    >You glance out of the corner of your eye to either side of you, but everyone else near you has their noses buried into a textbook.
  40. 40.
    >That awareness that you're being watched persists and is actually starting to slowly creep into a sense of dread.
  41. 41.
    >As it gets worse, you take a chance at getting caught not paying attention and glance around, taking a look behind you.
  42. 42.
    >The feeling stops all at once.
  43. 43.
    >When you look back, there isn't actually anyone looking at you.
  44. 44.
    >"Eyes up front or on the text please, Anonymous," you hear your teacher say.
  45. 45.
    "Y-yes Ms. Cherilee."
  46. 46.
    >You stare down at the book, not wanting to make eye contact with her or anyone else.
  47. 47.
    >After a few moments, you start to get that feeling again.
  48. 48.
    >It's like someone's boring into the back of your skull with their eyes.
  49. 49.
    >You put a hand on the back of your neck to scratch it and realize that you're actually sweating.
  50. 50.
    >The end of class can't come fast enough, but it eventually does.
  51. 51.
    >Luckily, today is a short day, so you can get out of here and try to sort out your thoughts.
  52. 52.
    >You quickly grab your things and head out of the classroom, not even bothering to jot down the instructions for what to do for next class.
  53. 53.
    >You head to your locker and quickly grab the rest of your things.
  54. 54.
    >The door clanks shut and you realize that the wide hall around you is empty.
  55. 55.
    >Time to get the fuck out of here.
  56. 56.
    >You start to bolt towards the nearest exit-
  57. 57.
    >"And just WHERE do you think you're going, MISTER?"
  58. 58.

  59. 59.
    >You freeze.
  60. 60.
    >That's a girl's voice.
  61. 61.
    >You recognize it, but you don't think you've ever heard anything like anger from it before.
  62. 62.
    >Slowly, you turn around and you can't believe your eyes.
  63. 63.
    "F-Fluttershy?"
  64. 64.
    >"Don't you "Fluttershy" me, Anon!"
  65. 65.
    >The piercing eyes staring you down are normally hidden behind that long, pretty, pink hair.
  66. 66.
    >This is the most meek girl you've ever met, and you're having trouble making EYE CONTACT with her right now.
  67. 67.
    >You take a step back, and she responds by taking a step forward.
  68. 68.
"Fluttershy, what are you doing? What is this about?!"
  69. 69.
    >She takes a step forward, and you take another step back.
  70. 70.
    >You slip on the tiled floor, and you're falling.
  71. 71.
    >You were blown away by a pretty girl today figuratively, and now it's about to be literal.
  72. 72.

  73. 73.
    >The landing on the floor isn't pleasant.
  74. 74.
    >Your backpack "cushioned" your fall, as well as something overloaded with big, heavy textbooks can.
  75. 75.
    >Always knew that it would be hard on your back to carry that thing around...
  76. 76.
    >After a moment of being shellshocked, you glance up.
  77. 77.
    >Fluttershy is standing over you.
  78. 78.
    >You may not know what you did to bring down the wrath of Hurricane Fluttershy, but it looks like she's about to let you have it.
  79. 79.
    >You avert your eyes down and away from hers, knowing that the worst of it is about to come.
  80. 80.
    >...
  81. 81.
    >But it doesn't.
  82. 82.
    >You boldly look up at Fluttershy to see her eyes tracing your previous line of sight, eyes wide not with that powerful stare, but with horror.
  83. 83.
    >You were so scared out of your wits that you didn't even realize that you were staring up her skirt.
  84. 84.

  85. 85.
    >In the next moment, everything changed.
  86. 86.
    >"eep!"
  87. 87.
    >Fluttershy backed away from you, tripping on her own feet and falling onto her rear end with a thud.
  88. 88.
    >She's looking away from you now, a long lock of her hair obscuring half of her face.
  89. 89.
    >And she's blushing.
  90. 90.
    >That's a lot more like the Fluttershy that you're used to, that's for sure.
  91. 91.
    >Seeing this lets you gather up the courage to talk to her.
  92. 92.
"Fluttershy... What was THAT all about?"
  93. 93.
    >You can see just enough of her face to notice that eyes turning to you, then away again.
  94. 94.
    >You sigh.
  95. 95.
"I'm sorry, Fluttershy. I didn't mean to look at... you know..."
  96. 96.
    >Her cheeks may have been pink before, but now they're turning red.
  97. 97.
"I didn't mean to. I mean, not that you're not really pretty-"
  98. 98.
    >You've gone from hardly getting a word out to putting your foot in your mouth.
  99. 99.
    >Good job, Anonymous.
  100. 100.
    >You sigh and take a moment to collect your thoughts.
  101. 101.
    >You're fortunate that Fluttershy can be so awkward that she might actually just sit there all day until you move.
  102. 102.
    "Really, Fluttershy, I'm sorry."
  103. 103.
    >She mumbles something, but you can't quite make it out.
  104. 104.
".. I'm sorry, what was that, Fluttershy?
  105. 105.
    >She mutters it again, a little bit louder, but it's still not very distinct.
  106. 106.
    >She takes a deep breath.
  107. 107.
    >"You should tell that to Sunset."
  108. 108.

  109. 109.
    >She knows about what happened earlier with Sunset?
  110. 110.
    >Fluttershy is still avoiding eye contact with you.
  111. 111.
    "Sunset?"
  112. 112.
    >The gears in your head start turning, but you're not sure you can believe it.
  113. 113.
    >Fluttershy turns her head to look at you, face still partially obscured.
  114. 114.
    >She's not giving you the stare anymore, but the look that she's giving you now gives you the impression that you've done something wrong.
  115. 115.
    >"Sunset's one of my best friends, Anon. She's liked you for a long time. She told us that she was going to confess her feelings for you today, but when she came back, she was in tears."
  116. 116.
    >Even though her tone isn't as serious as it was earlier, her words still hit you like a brick.
  117. 117.
    >Were you totally oblivious, was she dropping hints before this?
  118. 118.
    >You shared one class with her last year, but you didn't think that you left any kind of impression, let alone even stand a chance with her.
  119. 119.
    >You curl up and look at the ground.
  120. 120.
"I... I didn't mean to hurt her feelings. She caught me so off guard that I couldn't even respond. I just froze up..."
  121. 121.
    >You sit there, the guilt seeping in that your lack of nerve managed to hurt someone else's feelings.
  122. 122.
    >It would be better if you just faded away.
  123. 123.
    >Much to your surprise you feel something rubbing up against you.
  124. 124.
    >You look over to see a small, white rabbit.
  125. 125.
    >Blinking in surprise, you then take notice that Fluttershy is sitting next to you as well.
  126. 126.
    >She's looking straight ahead down the empty hallway.
  127. 127.
    "Fluttershy?"
  128. 128.
    >After all of that, now she's showing you some kindness?
  129. 129.
    >There's a moment of silence before she speaks again, softly this time.
  130. 130.
    >"I know what it's like... You know... To be too nervous to speak up..."
  131. 131.
    >You knew you weren't "alpha," but are you really so quiet that FLUTTERSHY is showing you empathy?
  132. 132.

  133. 133.
    >She picks up the bunny.
  134. 134.
    >"If you really didn't mean to hurt Sunset's feelings, then I forgive you, Anonymous."
  135. 135.
"Thank you, Fluttershy. I guess that I should apologize to Sunset as well. Maybe if I'm lucky, she'd be willing to give me a chance..."
  136. 136.
    >"You do like Sunset, then?"
  137. 137.
    >She's looking at you.
  138. 138.
    >You don't have to think long before you can at least say this much:
  139. 139.
    "I think I do."
  140. 140.
    >"I'll talk to her about all of this then, and-"
  141. 141.
    >She stops even though it seems like she has more to say.
  142. 142.
    >If there's anything you actually have good attention to, it's detail.
  143. 143.
    >Fluttershy has stopped making eye contact with you, she's looking down at the floor now.
  144. 144.
    >The gears in your head start turning as you try to grab any clues from this mess of a conversation.
  145. 145.
    >Wait, did she say "us" earlier?
  146. 146.

  147. 147.
    >*click*
  148. 148.
    "She told us"
  149. 149.
    >You say it out loud this time as you recall what she said.
  150. 150.
    >Fluttershy seems to be desperately trying to not make eye contact.
  151. 151.
    "She told all of..."
  152. 152.
    >Oh, shit.
  153. 153.
    >You accidentally broke Sunset's heart, and they all know.
  154. 154.
    >Canterlot High's "Main Six"
  155. 155.
    >Six girls that are completely unalike from each other, but still manage to have more pull in the student body than any clique.
  156. 156.
    >You grab Fluttershy by the shoulders.
  157. 157.
"Fluttershy... Please don't tell me that your friends are planning to come after me over this."
  158. 158.
    >She looks up at you, then closes her eyes and slowly nods.
  159. 159.

  160. 160.
    >Well, that's not good.
  161. 161.
"But... you know that I didn't mean to hurt Sunset. You can put in a good word for me, right? This won't be a problem."
  162. 162.
    >You sound hopeful, but that doesn't last long.
  163. 163.
    >Fluttershy slowly shakes her head.
  164. 164.
"Come on... You're kidding, right? I'll go tell Sunset myself and clear all of this up."
  165. 165.
    >"I'm so sorry, Anon. I'll tell Sunset the truth about what happened, but my friends and I look out for each other. They might not even let you get close to her right now."
  166. 166.
    >Fluttershy opens her pack and gently places the bunny inside of it before getting up and putting it on.
  167. 167.
    >She offers you a hand to help you up.
  168. 168.
    >"I'll talk to my friends about it. Maybe I'm just expecting the worst out of them for no reason."
  169. 169.
    >You take her hand, letting yourself break into a small smile at her reassuring words.
  170. 170.
"Yeah, you're probably right. I mean, your friends are pretty reasonable people, right?"
  171. 171.
    >You stand up straight and shift the weight of your bag around a bit.
  172. 172.
    "Thanks, Fluttershy."
  173. 173.
    >"Anon?"
  174. 174.
    "Yes..?"
  175. 175.
    >"I'm sorry that I cornered you like this. I wish I'd known that this was just a misunderstanding."
  176. 176.
"It's really okay, Fluttershy, I forgive you."
  177. 177.
    >A few moments later."
  178. 178.
    >"A-Anon?"
  179. 179.
    "... Yes, Fluttershy?"
  180. 180.
    >"You can let go of my hand now. I mean, if you wouldn't mind..."
  181. 181.

  182. 182.
    >One awkward dispersal later...
  183. 183.
    >You step outside of the school.
  184. 184.
    >After all of the crazy things that have happened today, you're thankful that you have some time off to yourself.
  185. 185.
    >Your Steam library IS starting to fill up with games you haven't even played yet...
  186. 186.
    >You drift off in thought on your walk home, then you hear your phone go off.
  187. 187.
  188. 188.
    >Are you really that plain?
  189. 189.
    >You HAVE to remember to change that later.
  190. 190.
    >You check to see who it is.
  191. 191.
    >It's Flash Sentry.
  192. 192.
    >He's a good friend, even though you two aren't in the same clique.
  193. 193.
    >You hang out sometimes and talk about music.
  194. 194.
    >You answer the call.
  195. 195.
    >"Hey, Anon! You going to the Jo-Colt show later?"
  196. 196.
    >You snicker.
  197. 197.
"Man, I'll never understand why you like 'soft rock' music so much."
  198. 198.
    >"Hey, don't knock it until you try it. So, are you going?"
  199. 199.
"I don't think so, Flash. Not this time."
  200. 200.
    >"What, afraid to try new music?"
  201. 201.
Nah, I just had a really crazy day and want to spend the rest of it doing nothing.
  202. 202.
    >"What happened, Anon?"
  203. 203.
"Did anything in particular HAVE to happen? Classes are hectic sometimes."
  204. 204.
    >"Yeah, but you don't give a crap about that stuff. Come on, man, spill it."
  205. 205.

  206. 206.
    >You sigh.
  207. 207.
"Fiiiine. But you have to promise you won't tell anyone."
  208. 208.
    >"Sure thing, bro... As long as it's not anything really juicy."
  209. 209.
    "Come on, Flash..."
  210. 210.
    >"Alright, alright. Just tell me."
  211. 211.
    >You explain to Flash the events of the day, starting with what happened during the lunch period.
  212. 212.
    >He doesn't believe you when you tell him that Sunset flat-out confessed to being in love with you.
  213. 213.
    >"Come on, Anon, you're pulling my leg."
  214. 214.
    >You understand his skepticism, but that doesn't stop you from taking it a little bit personally.
  215. 215.
    >You continue on, explaining how you froze up, and then she left.
  216. 216.
    >"That sounds like something you'd do."
  217. 217.
    "Why are we friends again?"
  218. 218.
    >"Chill Anon, I was just kidding. What happened next?"
  219. 219.
    >You tell Flash about how your day went more or less as normal until you were confronted by Fluttershy of all people.
  220. 220.
    >"She gave you THE STARE? Holy shit, Anon! I heard that she used that to reduce a bully to TEARS once."
  221. 221.
    >You tell him about the whole thing, omitting the part where you looked up her skirt by accident.
  222. 222.
    >You're a gentleman, after all.
  223. 223.
"And that was it. We parted ways, and she's going to talk to her friends for me. Hopefully, everything will be fine."
  224. 224.
    >"Well..."
  225. 225.
    >Oh, come on.
  226. 226.
    >"You know, a couple of Sunset's friends are sort of hot-headed. Even if Fluttershy puts in a good word for you, they might still come after you."
  227. 227.
"Not what I needed to hear today, Flash."
  228. 228.
    >"Better safe than sorry. They're not bad people though, so I can't imagine that they'll do anything too serious. Just know that you might have some more of what you got today coming up."
  229. 229.
    >You groan.
  230. 230.
    >"I'll catch you tomorrow, Anon. Good luck."
  231. 231.

  232. 232.
    >You head home and spend the rest of the day in your room.
  233. 233.
    >As satisfying as gaming is after a stressful day, you can't quite help but shake the nagging feeling that things have only just begun.
  234. 234.
    >This is going to be a long week.
  235. 235.

  236. 236.
