  13. >Scoots, having repressed anger from their initial previous fight with DT teasing about her disability, was about to call SS an "egghead".

  15. >"What?" Scoots said in bewilderment.
  16. >"You can fly eventually. It says here that some pegasi have different types of wings. Yours more than others." SS continues.

  19. >"What it means, is that your wings are a humming-variant. Takes longer to mature, but eventually you'd be more agile and have insane control while in the air than most other ponies do. Here and take a look for yourself." SS passes the book in a neutral non-agonistic tone.

  31. "Urgh... what is it now?" SS puts on her facade again.

  33. "What? Now what in the hay are you talking ab-"
  34. >"Drop the act SS. You've been being nice to us outside of school but then go back to bullying us right af*ter! That's pretty messed up!" Sweetie confronts.
  35. >"Yah! Whats your angle?" Scootaloo adds.

  37. "I-I" SS stammers a bit, waning away her mask even just a little bit. She couldn't actually just tell them... could she? "I... its just for appearances. I don't actually have anything against you girls. Its just... DT. She doesn't appreciate when I'm not by her side all the time. You know how she is."

  39. >The CCC stare in bewilderment, which had been a frequently reoccuring thing she noticed.
  40. >"Wait, so yer tellin me, even you disagree with DT? Why do you even hang out with her? You're so gushy gushy with her all the time!" AB bursted out.

  43. >"And you're so smart too! Like, why do you even need her in the first place? She's such a bossy pony!" Scoot couldn't help but also add.

  45. SS sighs. Should she really tell them? They already suspected. After a long drawn out moment of silence, she gave in.
  46. "Look, if we haven't bullied you three during DT's cutecinera, would any of you been friends?"
  47. >The CCC were all confused at the mention of an event that happened ages ago, but they could clearly remember.
  48. "And if I didn't have Scootaloo think she couldn't fly for the contest, she wouldn't have learned to ignore what other ponies said and simply do her best. Or something like that." SS waved with her hoof.

  50. "Or when we had Babs succumb to peer pressure and had you all learn that you can't fight bullying with more bullying."
  51. >"Wait. So..." Scootaloo was the first to piece it together. "You mean, you bullied us... just to have us get along better? And to make the CCC? And to become best friends in the whole wide world?" She concluded.
  52. "Basically." SS shrugged.
  53. >"Wow... I can't tell if you're terrifyingly smart, or outright stupid."

  56. >"Actually, I do. She's always been getting straight As without even looking at the text book. And she's been acting as our bully for years!" Scootaloo remarked.

  63. In all honesty, there wasn’t all that much of a difference than my old life. As a human, I never really grew up with a father. Nor did I have any other male figures in my life. I just kinda adapted to living on my own terms. My real mother, my human mother, would spend her time staying in her room while having a nanny to take care of me. It was only much later as an adult that I learned that my human father left her when I was a child, leaving enough assets for the both of us to live a comfortable life. Apparently my human father has amassed a ton of assets and wealth through shady businesses and married my mother during that time. Eventually, his past came back up to him and he was forced to divorce her in order to protect the both of us. If he stayed, then everything we had could have been confiscated from us. We’d have nothing left.

  65. The years of solitude my mother went though took a toll on her. As a result, mother went ahead and gambled much of our family savings. When I was a child, I remembered coming to various casinos with her to eat at five-star restaurants and ended up taking a bunch of souvenirs with us. Apparently casinos offer big spenders a membership with various perks to motivate them to come and gamble again. It was only when I got older that I realized how dire our financial situation was that it forced me to spend much of my time in school so that I could secure my own future with a steady income. I couldn’t rely on my father’s inheritance when my mother could spend it all in a single moment.

  67. I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours studying alone in my room and pulling up all-nighters to prepare for various exams. Yet my mother didn’t care. Often times, she pretends that I don’t exist. She never shows up for any award ceremonies or any family meetings at school. She never even bothered looking at my report cards or coming to my graduation ceremony. My mother would simply stay in her room or be absent for days gambling our money away. I loved my mother, but... I've never really shared a connection with her. Yet in this new life, I’ve learned to adapt well enough with my new family. It almost felt like it wasn’t a coincidence that I was reborn as Silver Spoon, but I would never be able to prove such a thing.

  86. >A log occurs where SS and DT records their assaults on various ponies.

  88. >Scootaloo brings a paper lance on her scooter.
  89. >Applebloom brings a slingshot and paper pellets.

  92. >The three had enough and decide to team up and recruit half of the school to finally end this battle.
  93. >A standoff occurs at recess, no laughing or sounds of playing resounded across the playground.
  94. >Just two groups of ponies armed to the teeth, SS and DT's army vs the CMC army.
  95. >An epic battle occurs and SS delivers the final blow and accidentally punctures Applebloom's eye.
  96. >Other ponies are horrified and start screaming.
  97. >Miss Cheerilee had to finally intervene once a pony got hurt badly.
  98. >She bans the use of origami weapons.
  99. >We may have won the battle, but we lost the war.

  104. Soon the playground was filled with colts and fillies all throwing paper stars at each other. Diamond Tiara had the bright idea of organizing them into teams, evenly distributing the males and females on either side. Diamond Tiara and I acted as leaders for each team respectively, although it took a good deal of convincing by her to . We had ruled out any physical contact since we didn't want the few Earth Ponies that couldn't control their own strength accidentally injuring anypony. Most of the pegasi and unicorns here couldn't fly or use magic, so it was a pretty fair match for both sides.

  106. Stars were being thrown around with team players dodging and mid-throwing, although some either had horrible accuracy or used poorly made stars. The real contenders were Diamond Tiara and I surprisingly. Dia had amazing accuracy when it comes to throwing projectiles, however I had one distinct advantage over all of them.

  108. "Hey how come you're so good at standing!?"
  109. "That's cheating!"

  111. I was standing upright on my hindlegs, weaving and dodging into a pirouette as I threw a hoofful of stars at a group of fillies. My balance was perfect compared to the others, struggling to throw stars with their forehoof and three other legs planted to the ground. Some even attempted to [i]spit[/i] stars out of their mouths while running with little to no success. With that said, my accuracy wasn't great either, so I resorted to spamming as many paper shuriken as possible.

  117. Moments passed and both teams were decreasing in number. Soon enough the playground was littered with downed colts and fillies. Some were pretending to play dead. Others decided to sit on the sidelines near the schoolhouse and swing set and watch. Others were... overdramatic.

  120. "Oh the horror, the horror!"

  133. >The run and get cornered, only to be saved by Zecora.
  134. >They reach the hut and SS informs Zecora of the situation.
  135. >Zecora is curious as to how much SS knows about her, but SS says she'll tell her later.

  138. >Zecora states that she does have a remedy, but it requires the saliva mighty beast born with only one eye.

  140. >She heard tales of a creature residing deep within the everfree, however AB protests that it's too dangerous.
  141. >SS still insists on going, saying she wouldn't be able to live with herself if AB spends the rest of her life half blind.
  142. >AB sighs in resignation, stating that SS isn't going to change her mind.

  144. >"Fiiiiine, but don't blame me if yah end up dead!" AB states.

  147. >SS and Zecora have a discussion about reincarnators.
  148. >But as they talk Zecora suddenly finds herself trapped in web.
  149. >A loud roar echoes among the trees and Zecora shouts for SS to run.

  158. >SS resolves herself and Stares at Ahgg, fully embracing it her own mortality and facing her imminent demise in it's face. She already died once and is resolved fight to the bitter end.

  303. I think I'll plan on making two dream diaries chapters, one with SS and one with NMM.

  305. >As the story progresses on a bit more, I'll reveal more of SS's escapades in her dreams and how she deals with NMM's dream stalkers.
  306. >NMM takes an interest in her as she's one of the few fillies who fully believes in her existence and manages to actually harm her creatures to an extent.
  307. >NMM notices how the stove releases this strange gas instead of using fire gems and how SS used this alien device to light up the candle. SS's subconscious is actually spawning in things from the human world because those leaps of logic makes sense to her.
  308. >Years later SS subconscious starts to spawn more human technology and weaponry that helps her deal with >NMM's Dream Stalkers better as she adapts to the fear and starts growing a hate boner for NMM.

The flaming tire riding across her flank from the base of her tail to the front of her leg was mostly the same color as her mane and coat, a mix of oranges, reds, and magentas, except for the black of the tire itself, and was easily mistaken from a distance. Still, up close it was easy to see what it was, and anyone who knew her agreed it fit her and her special talent perfectly.

I have this other idea that involves perhaps Scootaloo understanding SS's lonely existence. Both their parents are hardly around and the only company they have are their own friends. The only difference is that Scootaloo also have her two aunts (and I guess Rainbow Dash and Princess Luna later on). SS having only one friend is arguably an even lonelier existence than Scootaloo's.

Ponyville is a backwater town that just recently had access to a line of electricity, moving from the steam engine to the florescent lights age. However there's a time which Miss Cheerilee shows a picture of herself in the god damned 80's on the dance floor. Not to mention that the CMC bought an industrial hair drier later on. In the first season Applebloom also mentions that she takes bits or credit, implying that there are electronic transactions via credit cards. It's a can of worms I'm hesitant to go into.

  1153. It's not a hard rule. Consider Pinkie Pie, whose mark involves neither pink nor pie. But her fur is pink, and it's an obvious thing her parents might have named her for. Neither names Derpy nor Ditzy Doo have anything to do with bubbles. Blueblood? Nothing to do with a compass rose. Coco Pommel? Not seeing any connection to a feathered hat there. Colgate AKA Minuette? What do either of those names have to do with her hourglass cutie mark?

  1155. There are also lots of edge cases that probably only seem related in hindsight. Sure, diamonds are "rare" but would the name Rarity in any way inspire you to think about diamonds if you hadn't already made that connection? Her cutie mark could have been a couple gold bricks, or an issue #1 comic book, or a solar eclipse, or any of a hundred other things that are "rare" and would have made as much sense. Trixie "Lulamoon"'s mark kind of looks like it has a moon in it, but it looks more like a swirl with stars in it, both common elements in lots of cutie marks. If her name had been Trixie Swirlypoof or Trixie Cloudshear or Trixie Nebulafrost you'd think those things were what's depicted in her cutie mark instead of a moon. For that matter, if her talent had been for music instead of magic, you'd think that "Lulamoon" was wordplay on the word "lullaby" and see the connection there instead. Lots of things would seem related in hindsight.

  1157. Also keep in mind that both cutie marks and naming themes often run in families. Applejack, Big Macintosh, Granny Smith...is it any surprise that Applebloom was named after apples too? They were probably expecting an apple cutie mark, so they named her accordingly. Look at Twilight's mother. Her name is Twilight Velvet, which doesn't immediately inspire thoughts about stars like in her cutie mark, but her daughter ended up with stars in her cutie mark too. And since her father's name and cutie mark are night-themed, and stars sparkle at night...you can see where they got the idea for her name.

  1159. As for the strangely similar cases, like Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara, personally I tend to favor the renaming theory. When ponies have their cuteceanera, they sometimes choose to change their name, and sometimes they don't. Pinkie Pie isn't called "Balloons" and Rarity isn't called "Blue Diamonds." But for example...Pony Joe, whose name has nothing to do with donuts, is called "Donut Joe" by Twilight even though it's not his name. Ponies are probably used to being reffered to by their cutie marks, we see them put them on their clothing and saddlebags and generally use them as heraldric markers...presumably some simply adopt a new name and make it official.

We see this in how she is her daddy's little princess, how she seems to be able to get herself out of any sort of trouble unless there's hard evidence against her. Also, she was the head of the school newspaper. Some people wonder what Cheerilee was thinking in giving her the job, but I personally think that's a symbol of her talent. She was good at leading. The only problem came from her lack of maturity. Special talents can be used for both good and evil after after all. This talent could easily be signified with a crown or tiara, which is a symbol of female leadership.

  1172. Now Silver Spoon is interesting because in canon, we know almost nothing about her. Yet her cutie mark could also very well mean something very abstract rather than literal silverware smithing.

Silver Spoon might gain something important being close to Diamond Tiara, whether that be financial security, protection, or something that Silver Spoon currently holds in high regard, a friend with similar background and a way outside of her Father’s manor. Their talent allows them to see the affects of certain investments, friendships, or actions.

Their Cutie Mark then is a physical representation of what they do to others, which would be the perfect mirror to Diamond Tiara's special talent. Diamond Tiara stays in front, moving the masses, inspiring others. Silver Spoon on the other hand, stays in the shadows, pushing others forward with their words, avoiding attention perhaps due to shyness or simply a love of being the puppeteer. Maybe this is why she and Diamond Tiara are so close. Either Diamond Tiara depends on Silver Spoon's advice, or Silver Spoon is secretly pushing Diamond Tiara to do what she wants. Either way, with this theory, it's Silver Spoon that's pulling the strings.

Silverheart is very tempting, and it leads to obviously related idioms and metaphors like "heart made of gold" but my inclination is to think that spoon is the important part, not the silver. Look at the cutie mark. That could be any metal, iron, or steel, or titanium or lead, any just about anything.

Again, a thing that you do with a spoon, with care and love. Or we might choose it for a pony who loves to eat. Or a pony who "stirs the pot" with love, indicating a talent for cooking. Or for that matter, a talent for feeding changelings could very reasonably be represented by that symbol. There are lots of directions it could go, but the heart is important.

Pinkie Pie dayjob is baking, not throwing parties, that's her hobby. You can very easily have Silver Spoon be really talented at something that isn't "what she does" on a regular basis. Rarity is known for making dresses, not for finding gems. etc.

You've made it clear that at this point in the story, neither of them have their cutie marks. A cutie mark is supposed to be deeply symbolic of one's true inner nature and talent. Look how pony personalities change when cutie mark swaps or removals happen. The magic is central to their identity. The heart spoon was pony Silver Spoon's identity. It doesn't need to be human Silver Spoon's identity, and I wouldn't expect it to be.

  1231. As of chapter one, she doesn't have her cutie mark. Why not have her be suprised to discover that she doesn't get the cutie mark she expects? Not only is that reasonable, it also gives you an easy way out of the problem of trying to justify a related talent and you can pick somethign totally else that better matches the story you want to tell. Plus, it throws a monkey wrench at your protagonist and informs him that not everything in on rails and not everything neccesarily is going to go the way he expects. There are a lot of narrative benefits to that, and it sets up both your character and your readers to expect that "things might be different."

He makes that mental connection, and BAM, burst of light, he gets his cutie mark in the middle of class.

And second, because the mark itself is very obviously not a "stars and moons" style cutie mark, so she doesn't even know what it is. And he can't explain, because the technology that he knows it realtes to doesn't even exist in Equestria. You've now added an element of dramatic irony and mytery, while simultaneously solving the problem of his/her cutie mark.
