A Snek Solution to a Snek Problem

Expiry: Never

  1. >strolling through an unfamiliar section of Ponyville
  2. "Again, Trixie, I'm so sorry I couldn't help you undo the spell."
  3. >the light-blue snakepony slithering next to you smiles and pats your head
  4. >her condescension is annoying
  5. >but those cute li'l fangs of hers make up for it
  6. >"Oh please, the Great and Powerful Snixie always knows what to do when a trick goes wrong!"
  7. >shoot her a deadpan look
  8. "Snixie?"
  9. >your friend's constant smug is undiminished
  10. >"Snake plus Trixie. Years of naming Trixie's- uh, my performances has left me unparalleled when it comes to thinking of names!"
  11. "You... may want to workshop that one a bit."
  12. >to your surprise, she actually considers it
  13. >you could point her at some great spellcasters' ophidiocentric spell names, to draw inspiration from
  14. >"Of course, if Trixie is to use this in her show, she will need to add SEVERAL adjectives..."
  15. >nevermind
  16. >finally come to a particular house
  17. >go up to knock
  18. >"Wait! Starlight, before we do this..."
  19. >Trixie's horn glows, bathing the two of you in pale blue light
  20. >nothing happens
  21. >"Just something Trixie picked up while practicing her even MORE daring Mysterious Manticore Maw Mayhem Escape!"
  22. >o-kay
  23. >knock on the door
  24. >>"Just a sec!"
  25. >it opens to reveal Opal, another blue lamia
  26. >though, unlike Trixie, Opal was apparently born that way
  27. >and she's got stripes
  28. >>"Starlight Glimmer and Trixie, yes? Do come in, I made sandwiches."
  29. >go in
  30. >Trixie slithers through the door as well
  31. >her walls are covered in photos
  32. >all of them are Opal standing - er, whatever snakes do - with somepony
  33. >most taken in her backyard, though some in the house
  34. >oddly, you don't see anypony appear in more than one
  35. >"Psst! Hey, Starlight!"
  36. >briefly wonder if Trixie can whisper in anything other than a stage-whisper
  37. >she points at a familiar-looking colt
  38. >but where did you see him...
  39. >"Isn't that the guy on those missing posters?"
  40. >oh yeah, he was on the milk cartons
  41. >>"Missing posters? Bramble's gone?"
  42. >Opal furrows her brow
  43. >>"He stopped by just a few weeks ago. Though, I'm sorry to say, no telling where he went after he left."
  44. >huh
  45. >sit down at the table
  46. >she did indeed make sandwiches
  47. >dandelion, clover, and good ol' daisy
  48. >the clover is quite tasty!
  49. >Trixie takes a bite of the daisy
  50. >her muzzle scrunches
  51. >she swallows, but puts the sandwich back down
  52. "So... how exactly does this work? Breaking Trixie's spell, I mean."
  53. >>"Family secret. For generations, we've helped ponies who didn't like their experiments with transformation spells. Ex-unicorns who put pegasus wings on wrong, broken horns, so many cases of self-inflicted gender dysphoria..."
  54. >she giggles
  55. >>"Actually, a fair number of these photos are my mom or grandma. And when I have a daughter, I hope she'll keep mine, too."
  56. >that explains the sheer quantity
  57. >>"But, if I may brag-"
  58. >mutter under your breath
  59. "don't worry, I'm used to it"
  60. >>"-We have a near hundred percent success rate at rendering ponies no longer afflicted by those transformation spells! ...or potions, we do get the occasional zebra."
  61. >"See? Trixie KNEW she was the right choice!"
  62. >Celestia, that fanged smirk is cute
  63. >try to picture yourself with one
  64. >...nah, fangs look evil on you
  65. >file that away in the "if I ever become evil again" section of your mind
  66. >being friends with Trixie really gave you an appreciation for aesthetic
  67. "If you don't mind, Opal, for the ones shy of that hundred percent, what happens? Trixie isn't going to get wor-"
  68. >pause
  69. >realize you asked a lamia if your temporarily-lamia friend will get "worse"
  70. >further worse than being a lamia
  71. >buck
  72. "Er, rather, she's in no danger of becoming something completely different, is she?"
  73. >Opal laughs, and there's a light hiss underneath it
  74. >briefly wonder if Trixie's laugh would do the same thing
  75. >>"Oh, even when it doesn't work as we expect, the pony comes away no worse for wear. Besides, the last time a transformation stuck even past the family method was when mom tried to help the Princess herself! And I'd chalk that up to alicorn magic being weird."
  76. >you and Trixie nod understandingly
  77. >finish the sandwiches
  78. >Trixie didn't have any, but she also didn't look hungry for them
  79. >follow Opal out to her backyard
  80. >she carries a camera and tripod in her tail, then sets it up
  81. >>"Would you two mind taking a photo with me?"
  82. >Trixie poses
  83. >"The Great and Powerful Trixie always has time for fan photos! An autograph'll cost you, though."
  84. >gently pat her back
  85. >her scales still feel unfamiliar
  86. "For her wall, Trixie, like all those others she helped?"
  87. >your friend lowers her upper body a bit, a sheepish grin and blush spreading on her face
  88. >"I... I knew that. Trixie was just making a joke."
  89. >Opal curls her long body around both of you
  90. >>"Okay, gotta get both of you in frame. Give each other a big hug!"
  91. "With just your forelegs, Trixie, I'm not looking to suffocate today."
  92. >she sticks her now-forked tongue out at you
  93. >but the two of you hug anyway
  94. >her scales are surprisingly warm
  95. >not as soft as fur, of course, but not as hard as you'd expected
  96. >FLASH
  97. >the camera clicks
  98. >>"One more, just in case."
  99. >FLASH
  100. >rather than blinding light, though, your vision goes dark
  101. >something soft and wet squishes around your ears
  102. >mashing your head against Trixie's
  103. >did Opal or Trixie not dry her hooves after washing?
  104. >the surrounding embrace suddenly tightens
  105. >can barely turn your head, let alone bring magic to your horn
  106. >the odd heat slips down over your shoulders and most of your forelegs
  107. >...well, at least Trixie's scales are pretty comfortable even pressed this firmly together
  108. >in case you hadn't figured out where you are, a loud -GULP- tips you off
  109. >Trixie sighs
  110. >the sheer understatement of her reaction delays your own
  111. >Opal's throat pushes you both deeper again
  112. >instinctively struggle
  113. >"Ow! Hey!"
  114. >new plan: more-strategic struggling
  115. "Sorry, Trixie, but she ATE us!"
  116. >twist and squirm, blindly pushing your hooves and forelegs against the striped lamia's insides
  117. >the saliva soaking through your fur and the throat's tight grip foil that attempt, though
  118. >and, by how much of your body feels warm and wet, she's almost got all four hooves in
  119. "Woah!"
  120. >sudden vertigo as gravity seems to shift around you
  121. >"Eep!"
  122. >Trixie's hooves wrap tightly around you
  123. >you sure miss breathing
  124. >...and there go your hooves
  125. >at least Opal's throat isn't as tight by your head anymore
  126. >maybe you can hold her at bay long enough to-
  127. >wait
  128. "Trixie! You've still got plenty of snakey length outside! See if you can pull us free!"
  129. >feel her fidget next to you
  130. >"Trixie... already tried that. Look, I may be the greatest and most powerful lamia, but, uh... this is not a trick I have practiced blindfolded. Or at all."
  131. >well buck
  132. "Then, try to push her away from my horn. Maybe I can still teleport us away, and we'll ask for help from Twili-"
  133. >"NO!!"
  134. >her heartbeat speeds up
  135. >"There's- there's no need to get HER involved in this. Besides, Trixie is already a fantastic escape artist!"
  136. >the steady, muscular ripples driving you deeper stop
  137. >the stale air around you grows a bit sharper
  138. >"In fact..."
  139. >a cascade of mercifully-dim lights illuminate your surroundings
  140. >Trixie holds Opal's stomach walls away from the two of you to cast her lightshow
  141. >what you can see is...
  142. >not encouraging
  143. >dark blue, fleshy walls shift and try to press in from all sides
  144. >dripping what's surely caustic stomach acid all around
  145. >soaking into your fur...
  146. >you shudder and light your own horn
  147. >power courses into it
  148. >and sputters away
  149. >with this much magic, you could... try to GLOW Opal to death
  150. >>"Ooh, I felt that. You're pretty strong, Starlight; I even gave you more of a dose than most unicorns."
  151. >shake your head
  152. >focus your magic
  153. >it hits where it was before
  154. >and just dissipates
  155. >>"So really, thank you for indulging in my hospitality. I could've been out a meal if you'd stopped at just one sandwich!"
  156. >a new weight visibly strains Trixie, now illuminated only by the passive glow of your horns
  157. >if you had to guess, Opal is laying on you
  158. >smugly
  159. >>"And, if I might add, you two were deli-"
  160. >"Excuse you! TRIXIE was talking!"
  161. >blink at the glaring lamia
  162. >even Opal withdraws
  163. >"Much better! Now, as Trixie was saying, Trixie is SUCH a good escape artist that she could help her assistant and best friend escape from not one, but TWO stomachs!"
  164. >furrow your brow
  165. "Trixie, what are you-"
  166. >it hits you
  167. "Oh, no. Trixie, no."
  168. >Trixie nods, wearing her usual confident smile
  169. >"Trixie, yes. C'mon, Starlight, I didn't get any sandwiches, and there's no downside!"
  170. >you're pretty sure Opal's acids are starting to burn away your fur
  171. >which is odd, because you can't feel it
  172. "What do you MEAN there's no downside?! The downside is I get EATEN!"
  173. >"Oh, please, Starlight, you're already eaten. If it works, it will be the greatest and most powerful escape act you have ever been in, and if it doesn't work, we'll die anyway, but I'll die full."
  174. >"So come on, what's one more throat? Besides, weren't you the one who okayed Fluttershy's lesson on accommodating different creatures' diets?"
  175. >the second-worst thing about being Trixie's best friend is being exposed to her unreasonable schemes and ideas
  176. >the worst thing is having to admit that some of them are actually logically sound
  177. >sigh
  178. >pull yourself up next to her
  179. >stare right in those pink-purple eyes
  180. "Alright, before I change my mind. You're a real piece of work, Trixie."
  181. >"The Great and Powerful Trixie does not disappoint with her performances."
  182. >get a nice, good look at her fangs when she opens her jaws
  183. >wider than a pony ought to be able to
  184. >before you can stare any longer, her hoof comes behind your head
  185. >at least this time, you know you're being eaten
  186. >you'd say that her being a friend means she'll be gentler than Opal
  187. >but this is Trixie
  188. >at least she won't do it on purpose
  189. >try to calm yourself as Trixie's lips rest around your neck
  190. >can't do Twilight's breathing exercise
  191. >maybe just focus on immediate sensations
  192. >and not the fact that you
  193. >literally fed yourself to two snakes in one day
  194. >what the hell happened to your survival instinct
  195. >"Mmm~"
  196. >Trixie's pleased hum around your barrel tickles
  197. >with some effort, you can fool yourself into thinking of her throat like a massage
  198. >steadily rubbing down whatever parts of your body she's fit inside
  199. >soft, yet firm
  200. >her mouth gradually sweeps your forelegs down by your sides
  201. >not the most comfortable, but certainly fine
  202. >feel your face heat up as her jaws wiggle left and right down your body
  203. >up your hips
  204. >recall that long, forked tongue she and Opal have
  205. >and how good it is at flicking up and down
  206. >your cheeks burn as her mouth stretches over your cutie marks
  207. >surely she wouldn't, right?
  208. >hear her swallow
  209. >her fangs graze gently to either side of your dock
  210. >and then past
  211. >soon to join the rest of you for the "massage"
  212. >not sure whether to feel disappointed or relieved
  213. >a few swallows later, and you're all the way inside
  214. >"Ahh..."
  215. >you're still moving, though
  216. >deeper and deeper into Trixie's snake-shaped body
  217. >and there's that sharp, acrid smell
  218. >"Thank you, Starlight. Oh, that feels so much better."
  219. >your hooves start to tingle
  220. "Uh, Trixie? When does this magic trick happen?"
  221. >she chuckles
  222. >"As soon as you go to sleep. After all, a magician never reveals her secrets!"
  223. >Opal says something, but under that extra layer of snake, you can't make it out
  224. >"Hmph! Well, if you did not want Trixie to talk, you should digest her faster!"
  225. >anger boils up
  226. >she's making it HARDER to do a trick she's never done?
  227. >with YOUR life on the line?
  228. >try to thrash around to indicate displeasure
  229. >oddly, your limbs don't respond
  230. >almost as though they're no longer th-
  231. >...
  232. >...
  233. >light filters into your eyes as you stir awake
  234. >go to stretch
  235. >somepony is holding you
  236. >yawn anyway
  237. >look down
  238. >light blue hooves are wrapped around your barrel
  239. >you're in Trixie's wagon
  240. >you're in Trixie's bed
  241. >sweet Celestia you're in Trixie's bed
  242. >she mumbles something
  243. >"Mmh... St'rl't..."
  244. >her hips push against you
  245. >that's enough of that
  246. >light your horn
  247. >teleport so you're standing by the bed
  248. >"Nnnrrr..."
  249. >she reaches out in her sleep, but finds only air
  250. "Trixie, exactly what happened?"
  251. >Trixie yawns
  252. >no fangs
  253. >still can't get that view out of your head
  254. >"Starlight? Why aren't you at-"
  255. >her eyes go wide
  256. >"When I was practicing yesterday, did you sleep on my bed?"
  257. "O-only for a second. You had been staring at an apple for five minutes."
  258. >she shakes her head
  259. >when she stops, she's blushing hard
  260. >"Trixie di- er, I didn't... DO anything, did I?"
  261. >yes
  262. "No."
  263. >and there's that showmare's smile
  264. >"Ah, of course not. After all, Trixie is a master of dream control."
  265. >shake your head as she gets out of bed and swaps her nightgown and cap for her cape and hat
  266. "So, Trixie. What, exactly, did you do to escape?"
  267. >look around
  268. "I mean, this isn't the afterlife, right? With all due respect, I like to think I did a little better than this."
  269. >"A showmare never reveals her se-"
  270. >shove your hoof in her mouth
  271. >mind drifts towards her swallowing it
  272. >immediately banish that thought to mental Tartarus
  273. >put on a slightly strained smile
  274. "That's fine and dandy for the audience, but don't you think your ASSISTANT should know, just in case something goes wrong?"
  275. >Trixie stares at you for a while
  276. >a practiced, judgemental look
  277. >purely for dramatic effect
  278. >"Trixie accepts this. But! You have to swear not to tell Twilight."
  279. >there goes her rivalry again
  280. >idly wonder how many times Trixie had buried and un-buried that hatchet
  281. >nonetheless
  282. >go through the motions of a Pinkie Promise
  283. >"Very well! When I was practicing for the Moonshot Manticore Mouth Dive, I snuck into the restricted section of Twilight's library and stole a book."
  284. >gawk at her
  285. >she walks over to a shelf
  286. >flips a lever
  287. >pushes a button
  288. >and a hidden panel slides away
  289. >Trixie levitates a magic book out
  290. >flips through pages
  291. >and shows you a particular spell
  292. >it comes with a drawing of a dragon with a pony in its belly
  293. >then an arrow to a pony in bed
  294. >how the buck did Trixie cast this
  295. >how the buck did she FIND this
  296. >"Then I just cast it on us before Opal answered the door."
  297. >your mind reels from the revelations
  298. "So... you didn't need me to save you when you performed that trick?"
  299. >Trixie gasps
  300. >"Of course I did! Waking up in bed is no way to end a performance; the audience would have been disappointed!"
  301. >"...and, also, I never actually managed to cast it successfully."
  302. "You wh-"
  303. >"But, good news! This means I can keep practicing that snake spell! Ooh, I should invite Opal to my next performance, she'll be so surprised!"
  304. >new objective: learn that restricted spell
  305. >...just in case
