Rainbow's Cloudsdale Tour and Meet and Greet

Expiry: Never

  1. The balloon bobs steadily in the sky, drifting on the wind currents toward the distant spires of Cloudsdale. You gaze out in wonder at the fluffy white city, perched atop a massive cumulonimbus cloud.
  2.
  3. Rainbow Dash circles the balloon, impatient as always. “Come on, we’re almost there!” She shouts up at you, buzzing around like an overexcited hummingbird.
  4.
  5. You laugh, leaning over the edge of the basket. “Patience, Dash! We’ll arrive when we arrive.”
  6.
  7. She huffs in annoyance but continues guiding the balloon to a clear spot to dock near the city entrance. As you draw closer, you can see pegasi going about their day - fillies playing in a nearby park, shopkeepers arranging their wares, guards patrolling along the walkways.
  8.
  9. The balloon bumps against a docking post, tethering itself in place. Dash is already hovering at the edge of the basket, practically dragging you out by the arm in her eagerness to show you around.
  10.
  11. You climb out and get your first steps on solid cloud. It’s dense and springy, compacted by magic and the hooves of generations of pegasi.
  12.
  13. Dash guides you through the winding streets of Cloudsdale, pointing out various landmarks along the way.
  14.
  15. “And there’s the Cloudosseum, where all the big competitions and shows are held. I won my first Young Flyer’s Competition there!” She says proudly.
  16.
  17. You pass a large building with a sign reading “Cloudsdale Flight School”. Dash’s ears flatten against her head, and she quickens her pace. “That’s, uh, where I went to flight school. Not much to see there though.” You get the sense it’s a sore subject, and don’t press for details.
  18.
  19. Farther down the road is a massive factory, billowing out clouds to be distributed across Equestria. “And there’s the Weather Factory! I worked there until I joined the Wonderbolts. Most boring job ever, but the pay was decent.”
  20.
  21. Everywhere you look, pegasi are going about their daily lives. Pegasi foals chase each other through and over the streets, stalls are filled with fresh produce and artisanal cloud goods. The distant rumble of thunder signals an incoming rain shower, dispersing the lingering heat of the day.
  22.
  23. The city itself seems almost alive, constantly shifting and changing. Buildings dissolve and reform into new shapes, guided by the hooves of their inhabitants and enchantments woven into the very clouds. Bridges spin out into the open sky, revealing stunning views before retracting back to the main walkways.
  24.
  25. You begin to understand why Dash loves it here so much. There’s a freedom and fluidity to Cloudsdale that’s unlike anywhere else in Equestria. Pegasi swoop and dive between the towering cumulonimbus spires, unbound by the constraints of the earth far below. It’s a city that embraces the ephemeral and ever-changing nature of the clouds, crafting a home as vibrant and lively as the pegasi who dwell within.
  26.
  27. You glance over at Dash, who gazes out at the city with a mix of nostalgia and pride. She catches you looking at her and grins. “Pretty cool, huh?”
  28.
  29. You nod, a smile tugging at your lips. “It’s amazing, Dash. Thank you for bringing me here.”
  30.
  31. Her cheeks color slightly. “No problem. I’m glad I get to show off my hometown!” She puffs out her chest, beaming. “Best city in Equestria, if I do say so myself.”
  32.
  33. Dash leads you into the towering Weather Factory, slipping on a hardhat and a pair of goggles. She passes you a set as well, nodding toward a sign that reads “Safety First!”.
  34.
  35. The interior of the factory is dim and humid, filled with pipes and vents winding between massive turbines. Pegasi in safety harnesses zip through the space, guiding clouds and monitoring the equipment.
  36.
  37. “This way!” Dash shouts over the din, pointing toward a towering cumulonimbus cloud. You follow her down a suspended walkway, gazing up at the churning beast of a storm above.
  38.
  39. “A baby like this' produce rain for half of Equestria!” Dash says proudly. Come on, check out the lightning condensers!”
  40.
  41. She guides you to a chamber filled with towering glass columns, arcing with electricity. “We zap the water particles in the cloud to encourage lightning formation. Then we collect and store the lightning in the condensers for distribution!”
  42.
  43. You watch in awe as a bolt of lightning crackles through one of the columns, charging the system. The air smells of ozone and petrichor.
  44.
  45. Dash shows you the cloud seeders, which pepper the storm with tiny particles to encourage condensation and control its size and shape. Then the temperature regulation chamber, where pegasi manipulate the temperature of the air to set the storm on its course.
  46.
  47. Every step of the process is intricately controlled by the pegasi workers, who guide the storm like a conductor leading an orchestra. It’s a dazzling display of magic and cloud manipulation on a massive scale.
  48.
  49. You turn to Dash, eyes shining with excitement. “This is incredible! I had no idea so much went into making the weather.”
  50.
  51. She grins, puffing out her chest proudly. “Yep! Us pegasi take our job very seriously. Perfect weather every day, that’s our motto!”
  52.
  53. The storm rumbles overhead, as if confirming her statement. Dash gazes up at it fondly, lost in old memories of her time working here.
  54.
  55. You bump her shoulder with your own. “Thanks for showing me around. I’m really glad I got to see where you came from, Dash.”
  56.
  57. Dash blushes, scuffing a hoof against the floor. “Aw, shucks. I’m just happy to share this with somepony who appreciates how cool it is!”
  58.
  59. She stretches her wings with a yawn. “All this walking around’s got me starving! You hungry?” At your nod, she grins. “Then I know just the place!”
  60.
  61. She leads you out of the factory and down the road to a cozy diner nestled between two shops. “They’ve got the best hay fries and apple cider in Cloudsdale. Used to come here all the time when I was a filly!”
  62.
  63. The interior is warm and homey, filled with locals chatting over their meals. Dash finds you both a booth by the window, offering a stunning view of the city stretching out below.
  64.
  65. A older but still peppy waitress, her blonde mane tied back in a bun, trots over with menus tucked under one wing. “Well if it isn’t my favorite little regular! Haven’t seen you in ages, Rainbow! How’ve you been?”
  66.
  67. Dash blushes but smiles warmly. “Doing great, Sunny! Just showing my friend Anon around Cloudsdale. Thought I’d bring him to the best diner in the city.”
  68.
  69. Sunny winks conspiratorially. “Well aren’t you a good tour guide! Welcome to Cloudsdale, Anon. I’m Sunny Skies. Anything Rainbow recommends is sure to be delicious.”
  70.
  71. “Thank you, it’s wonderful to meet you,” you say. Sunny beams, her pale yellow coat fairly glowing.
  72.
  73. “The usual for you, sweetie?” At the pegasus’s eager nod, Sunny turns to you. “And what can I get for you today?”
  74.
  75. You peruse the menu, filled with hearty pegasus fare. “I’ll have the hay fries and a cup of cider as well, please.”
  76.
  77. “Excellent choice! I’ll have that right out.” Sunny collects your menus and trots off, leaving you alone with Dash.
  78.
  79. She sighs happily, gazing out the window with a content smile. “Told you this place was the best.”
  80.
  81. You watch her fondly, warmth blossoming in your chest. “With a recommendation from you, how could I go wrong?”
  82.
  83. Dash’s ears perk up, and she turns to you with a bright grin. “Well, I do have impeccable taste!”
  84.
  85. Dash fidgets nervously with her hooves as you make your way through the streets of Cloudsdale. She glances at you, then away again, working up the courage to say something.
  86.
  87. Finally, she blurts out, “So, uh, did you maybe wanna meet my parents?” At your surprised look, she backtracks hastily. “I mean, only if you want to! I just thought, since we’re here and all, but we totally don’t have to...”
  88.
  89. You place a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Dash, I’d love to meet your parents. If it’s okay with you, of course.”
  90.
  91. “Yeah? I mean, sure, if you really want to.” She rubs the back of her neck, cheeks flushing. “They’re gonna embarrass me like crazy though, fair warning.”
  92.
  93. You chuckle. “I’m sure they can’t be that bad.”
  94.
  95. Dash groans. “Just you wait.”
  96.
  97. She leads you to a cozy cloud house, decorated in red and blue streamers. Two pegasi are chatting on the front porch, a stallion with a close-cropped rainbow mane and a pale blue mare with a short orange mane and tail.
  98.
  99. At the sight of Rainbow Dash, their eyes light up. “Rainbow!” they shout in unison, rushing forward to envelop her in a hug.
  100.
  101. Dash protests weakly, cheeks flaming as she’s smothered in affection. “Mom, Dad, come on!” The stallion releases her with a chuckle, while the mare continues nuzzling Dash enthusiastically. “Sorry sweetheart, we’re just so happy to see you! It’s been ages.”
  102.
  103. Rainbow embarrassedly mumbles amid her nuzzling. "It's been two weeks..."
  104.
  105. The mare, Windy Whistles, finally pulls back to beam up at her daughter. "Has it? Felt like so much longer."
  106.
  107. Dash clears her throat, jerking a hoof at you. “Mom, Dad, this is my friend Anon. Anon, these are my parents Bow and Windy.”
  108.
  109. Bow Hothoof’s eyes widen at the sight of you, but he recovers quickly and offers a hoof. “Well met, Anon! Any friend of Rainbow’s is a friend of ours.”
  110.
  111. You shake his hoof, impressed by his firm grip. “A pleasure to meet you both. Rainbow’s told me so much about you.”
  112.
  113. “Oh has she now!” Windy peers up at you, curiosity shining in her burnt pink eyes. “My, aren’t you a tall one! Not that that’s a problem, dear, we welcome all shapes and sizes.” She winks.
  114.
  115. Dash groans, pressing a hoof to her forehead. “Mom, please.”
  116.
  117. Bow chuckles, clapping his daughter on the back. “Now now, don’t be embarrassed. We’re just happy to have visitors, even if they do come in strange and mysterious forms!”
  118.
  119. His joking tone puts you at ease. You smile down at the excitable pegasi. These two were as lively as their daughter, you realize with amusement. “No need to worry, I come in peace.”
  120.
  121. Windy giggles. “Oh, we like this one, Rainbow! Why don’t you both come in for some tea and cookies? I just baked a fresh batch this morning!” Without waiting for a response, Windy bustles into the house.
  122.
  123. Dash sighs, slinking past you all into the house while shooting you an apologetic look. “Told you they’d embarrass me.”
  124.
  125. You follow Dash and her parents into the house, gazing around curiously. The interior is cozy and cluttered, filled with memorabilia. Shelves are lined with Princess Celestia and Luna figurines, and framed photos of Rainbow Dash throughout her life cover the walls.
  126.
  127. The cloud floor is padded and springy under your feet. Overstuffed red and blue armchairs surround a stone fireplace, crackling with warmth. A faded Equestrian flag is draped across one wall.
  128.
  129. Windy trots into the kitchen, returning with a tray of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and cups of tea. She levitates the tray onto a low cloud table as you settle into the armchairs.
  130.
  131. “Make yourself at home, dear!” Windy says brightly, nudging a cup of tea toward you with her nose. You thank her, taking a cookie and sip of tea. They’re delicious - the tea fragrant and perfectly steeped, the cookies still warm from the oven.
  132.
  133. Bow peers up at you curiously from his armchair. “So, what exactly are you, if you don’t mind me asking? Never seen a creature quite like yourself.”
  134.
  135. Windy gasps, rounding on her husband. “Bow! That’s incredibly rude.” She turns to you with an apologetic smile. “I’m so sorry dear, please ignore my husband’s tactlessness.”
  136.
  137. You wave a hand, unbothered. “No need to apologize. I’m used to such questions.” You glance at Dash, who nods encouragingly.
  138.
  139. “I’m a human. We’re not from this world - I, well- to make it simple, was transported here by magic.”
  140.
  141. Bow waves a sits up animatedly. “Really?! And how did you come to meet our Rainbow, if you don’t mind me asking?”
  142.
  143. You glance at Dash, who gives you a tiny nod. You launch into the story of how you first ended up in Equestria, and how Dash was the first to approach you as another person instead of as a oddity. How she took you under her wing and helped you adjust to life in Equestria, showing you the ropes and introducing you to her friends.
  144.
  145. “Is that so!” Windy beams at her daughter, who blushes and avoids her gaze. “Our little Dashie, making new friends and helping those in need as always. You’ve raised her well, dear.”
  146.
  147. Bow puffs out his chest proudly. “Of course. The finest guard training and all that.” He winks at you conspiratorially. “Though don’t let her fool you, she was quite the little troublemaker as a filly. Always getting into some mess or another!”
  148.
  149. “Dad!” Dash protests, cheeks flaming as her parents dissolve into giggles. She sinks lower in her armchair and nibbles on a cookie sulkily.
  150.
  151. You have to stifle your own laughter at her expense. It seems Dash's usual banter runs in the family.
  152.
  153. You grin at Dash’s embarrassed outburst, leaning forward with a knowing look. “Don’t worry - I wasn’t fooled for a second. This one’s still getting into all sorts of trouble.”
  154.
  155. Dash sputters in indignation while her parents burst into laughter. Windy slaps her knee, nearly upending her teacup. “I knew we liked you! Anypony who can keep up with Dashie’s antics is alright by us.”
  156.
  157. Bow nods sagely, though his eyes twinkle with mirth. “It’s good she has somepony around to keep her in line now that she’s not under our roof.”
  158.
  159. “Hey!” Dash interjects, cheeks burning. “I don’t need anypony to keep me in line. I’m doing just fine on my own, thank you very much!”
  160.
  161. “Of course you are, dear,” Windy says, utterly unconvinced. She shares a knowing look with you and Bow.
  162.
  163. Dash huffs, crossing her forelegs and looking away from the three of you sulkily. The tips of her ears are bright red.
  164.
  165. Bow’s expression softens as he gazes at his daughter. “Aw Dash, we’re only teasing. We know you’ve grown into a fine mare.” He hesitates, glancing between you and Dash. “Though, from the way you two talk about each other, it seems there may be more than friendship here?”
  166.
  167. You can feel your own face heating at the implication. Before you can respond, Dash squawks in protest.
  168.
  169. “W-what? No way! Anon’s just my friend, we’re not - I mean -” She stammers, waving her hooves frantically.
  170.
  171. Windy tilts her head, peering between you both knowingly. “Are you sure, Dash? The way you light up when talking about him, I thought perhaps...” She trails off leadingly.
  172.
  173. Dash sputters incoherently, hiding her burning face behind her hooves. You clear your throat awkwardly, unsure of how to respond to their probing. While you care deeply for Dash, you’ve never discussed the nature of your relationship, uncertain if she feels the same.
  174.
  175. Bow and Windy exchange a glance, then Bow stands with a chuckle. “Alright you two, we’ll stop our interrogation. But Dash - ” He fixes his daughter with a knowing look. “Don’t wait too long, you hear?”
  176.
  177. Dash lets out a strangled groan, sinking down until only her eyes peek over the armrest of her chair. Her parents dissolve into laughter at her expense, clearly delighted in flustering their usually unflappable daughter.
