Alright finally home. Nah, I don't think that is extremely important. If you happen to be in a lot of other pony servers, and see that they share them. Then maybe go ahead as a courtesy. With NSFW images be sure to censor genitals. Kids are in THIS server and we can't have that. As long it is clear what the image is so that the screenshot can still be used for the purpose of keeping everyone safe by documenting.

Different servers have differing levels of what is acceptable. There's no harm in reporting it I guess, if it's acceptable on server Y, then they can just ignore it, even if Server X just kicked them.

That is an good idea, thanks. We will have to ensure explicit warnings are given to servers that allow 18+ content as there are people (like urself) that are underage. But aside from that, this would help a lot.

This is important. And Discord allows you to change pics for the server you are in I believe and this may be a decent compromise and it puts that content behind a click that people would be going out of their way for. At the end of the day, quite a few of the MLP servers allow NSFW content and may not find a saucy NSFW pic to be a issue.

The way this place should be run is judgement free. If you desire to act when you see a report, that's fine. If not, that's also fine. If the problem is massive like a ToS violation it should be reported to Discord, but it can also be posted here for a quicker reaction.

 

This will solve discrepancies on NSFW content because obviously if someone posts porn in an 18+ server it is totally allowed, but if porn was in many of the SFW servers that is a red flag.

Can I suggest adding this to reporting guidelines. Making a clickable link to someone's profile makes it much easier to see if a reported person is on any servers you share. Suggestion for reporting, I would personally appreciate having two categories for reports: security (raids/active hackers/trolls) and social (scammers, troublemakers, mental health concerns)

 

Reason being while security reports are appreciated for awareness, there's little that can generally be done for most servers since Discord doesn't support banning users who are not in your server. (that I know of, I'm sure there may be a bot out there that can do that, but it's not a native Discord feature)

 

Whereas social reports would presumably be more active members in the community and more likely to be in multiple servers.

I think coming up with some categories would be ideal in general.

Some ideas categories such as:

 

Failure to comply - a seemingly willful objection to correct behavior

 

Repeat rule breaking - abused additional chances

 

Socially unacceptable behavoir - racism or bigotry, creepy behavior

 

Malicious attack - deliberately trying to cause harm to server or users, brigading

 

Trolling - if I have to explain trolling...

 

Scamming - lying with intent to profit, extreme forms fall under malicious attack

 

Sexual harassment - in chat or DMs, could include posting porn in general channels.

It's not a terrible idea, but to do this cleanly we would need reaction roles and unfortunately to obtain more reaction roles we would either need to pay MEE6 again or have someone make their own reaction role bot (could be arranged if someone steps up for that).

If someone can provide a good reaction role bot that would allow us to do this, I'm down. Regardless, even without the pings it's still a fair idea to categorize the offences. Borg's list seems pretty agreeable to me, so if that get's polished up it could just be posted in the reporting guidelines as something to do.

The pinging part seems pretty low priority at the minute, so it will be fine if it takes time. Categorizing could be done at any point though and just seems like decent practice.

Does mentioning users that aren't in the server work... at all? It doesn't neither on mobile nor desktop for me. I'd discourage doing it altogether and just post the IDs. All of us can check them in our servers with whichever bots we use.

Also trying to condense screenshots in one or a few is still a pain to do when it comes to getting as much of the important information in a single post without it being a long list of pictures too. Otherwise what I would've had (condensed but still too much) would've been a good 5 screenshots but the info on it and quick synopsis is good enough.

Ultimately, you should provide everything you think is needed to convey your stance to everyone else. The purpose of this server is not to create a universal ban list, it is to show other people with evidence why they should *consider* to look out for someone or if need be preemptively ban them. If you need a lot of pictures to do this, consider zipping them into a folder and uploading that maybe.

Just good old mspaint is perfect for stitching screenshots together and censoring out the names. On linux, kolourpaint is a pretty good alternative and what I use now.

This isn't a shared banlist, it's a shared channel for alerting other server owners to potential problem users. If you don't include a description of the situation leading to them causing you an issue, we have nothing to go on to determine if they may pose concerns for other servers.

Ok, so the profile link *did* show up correctly for the latest report by @Astro 💙. I'm guessing it shows up correctly if you share (or did share) a server with that person. I checked the profile and I'm not sharing a server any more, probably because they got kicked. @Astro 💙: Did you remove them from any other server?

The way the profile links work is that your client caches the user whenever it makes a connection to that user. It's why when you kick someone from your server, the pings for that person still show you their profile, but when you restart your client, it more often than not shows an invalid ping, since the cache is cleared whenever you close/restart your client

That's honestly a good question. I didn't anticipate a need for non-discord reporting tbh, but in your case that might be useful to know. I'll have to talk with some people on that one. I'm not sure there is a lot we can do on here specifically without a discord profile though.

I'd say it would be best to keep this to Discord only. If we started reporting on issues from outside, the chats are going to get loaded. Once/if it comes to Discord then it is a different story.

An image being censored and spoilered is good enough. Not to mention there is a NSFW warning in the text itself. We had made mention of this before I believe but it was to the extent of moderators being mature enough to deal with such things. For the instance of being at work; all the warnings are there and if anything, a report should still cover the bases of what the reason is without explicitly needing to see the evidence of it but the details of evidence alone for screenshot sake is still important.

In the interest of preventing conflict we have taken a pretty hardline stance against open judgement. About the most suspicious about it is the asking a random person on Discord in DMs. That, and they seem to have actual gameplay and hosted on an actual game distribution service. There is a problem that Discord token scrapers don't get detected by most antivirus software. It could possibly get on to steam. The program doesn't look like a virus because it just looks for your token and sends it to somebody. People were using itch.io to host Discord hacking programs too.

Thing with grabbers is that they don't do anything inherently harmful just on the surface. If every software and game accessing files in directories seperate from its installation folder would get flagged by an AV, you would have a loooooong list. It's on Discord to fix this issue, not Antiviruses. 2FA is completely useless against these grabbers, and the session tokens are a crippling downside to webapps... it's why I personally dislike them, they are too easy to crack into compared to a standalone program

We had someone join a while ago with an avatar that clearly had SS officers and the corner of a certain Mercedes 770. I asked them to change it and their second profile picture had that symbol in it. They got banned. I don't think it's a symbol that got used much in the 20th Century, it's more one used by Neo Nazis in the hope people don't recognise it. Regarding Decoke, have you reported them to Discord? I forgot to do it when they were spotted again on the 28th.

 

They're someone you really don't want around because they are very sexual and like to RP. People join in not knowing how young they are.

 

I originally had suspicions that they were a predator acting as underage, but spent a whole day investigating and couldn't find any evidence to prove that. Just a hunch, they seemed way too sexually obsessed for an 11 year old. If you see them post anything which suggests that they are anything other than an 11 year old, please share it.

None of their behaviour indicated that they were older than 11. They complained about the chat being dead and claimed that they are *a Filipino Pegasister who does FanFiction and artworks. And diagnosed with Neighsahdowbetes (lmao).*

From memory, I don't think there has been anything sexual related in the server because we moderate it pretty well, but indictations haven't been looked into yet because they had only really raised suspicion as a troll and shitposting. Just want to add something of concern to Comrade's report, a user in Ponyville Plaza but also a mutual in UKBP (server under my admin) recieved messages from Blue Thunder that were of a harassing nature, asking to use explicit photos as payment for artwork.

 

I'd advised them to contact Ponyville Plaza staff, which they went ahead and did, but to my surprise their staff decided not to do anything as they claimed DM's are outside of their area. Which is true..but seeing as this user is now being reported here I would expect some kind of proper action to be taken.

When we made the PCL we really wanted to emphasize the fact that this server is not a global ban list. When reports are made, all information used to determine mod action is posted. We provide these reports for the people running and moderating their servers to make their own decisions about who to ban and why. When we see people sharing who is in each server it almost feels like a call to action to ban them, and people will likely see things like this as us being a global ban list.

The reason we don't want an attempt for there to be a global consensus is that it could never work. There are representatives from a very diverse group of servers here, and what is not acceptable in one server may be perfectly acceptable in another. PCL is a repository for reports. What each server does with those reports is up to them. Just because someone wasn't banned doesn't mean they aren't being monitored more closely, or that a report won't be taken into consideration later.

So the way I have asked my mods to handle PCL is to ban anyone that is a raider/troll/scammer for sure. Otherwise it requires some thought. In that case I don't think it would be bad no. Certainly would go against what this is for if we can't alert on raiders. I can't see it doing harm. I'd say that if it violates ToS feel free to ping. If not, maybe don't. And in the rules later I'll add what we posted here so its stated explicitly, and maybe show people how to look up mutual servers themselves so they know how to do it.

Swearing is another one. Some servers really don't care. Others will ban for excessive foul language. The only users who really should be consistently banned across all servers are TOS violators. Within the terms of the TOS, it's all up to your own house rules.

It's not a good policy to have a ban list, this conversation has been had here before, but for the sake of others seeing it. What is banned in some servers is not in others. Obviously this doesn't apply to certain things of course.

As mentioned previous by admin, this server isn't a global ban list. However user descretion should be used for your own spaces.

If you didn't see it, you'd have to enable developer mode or something. It might lack all of the options on a bot, but you should still be able to copy the ID from a message.

The ID is useful because you can hackban someone from your server, and because names can change, so it's a unique identifier. Very nice if we're to keep out a phishing bot.

I would imagine a straight up reminder that Discord doesn't do that is a pretty good idea right now. Much like banking companies who remind customers frequently that they'll never ask for security details through email.

We had a moderator in our own space fall for the game testing phishing scam that went round Discord..thankfully because I'm tech savvy we were able to stop it before it got passed onto any other members that weren't so knowledgeable.

 

We've made our own announcement regarding it but I do wish people would educate themselves more on it all.

Actually, yes, but it's entirely in-app. No websites, no bots, just a normal DM. If you open your DM and see a gift box in your message box, that's the interface to send Nitro to a friend.

A friendly reminder not to click links you're not familiar with.

 

It gets passed on through users clicking the link which gives the scammer access to your account, thereby spreading it on.
