>Hard light brown hooves with tufted yellow fur draped over them and behind them were a pair of beaten plastic wheels, holding a stuffed suitcase, rattling against the hard concrete.
-
>The pair of hooves and wheels stop their racket and a knock on something hard and wooden rings out.
-
>The door opens, letting out the light to the dark void, and in that dark void is Posey.
-
>An expression of grumpiness paints her face while she clutches her teddy bear tightly against her chest.
-
>”I’m so glad you made it, Posey!”
-
“Mhh…”
-
>The yellow pony trots past her best friend, not before her suitcase gets stuck on the jamb.
-
>”Woah, let me help.”
-
>Windy lifts the suitcase over the jamb.
-
>Posey’s only reply was a snort before trotting off to the living room.
-
>But as soon as Posey left, she returned with fright as she clutched her teddy bear close to her chest.
-
“I thought it was going to be the four of us!!! Just what is Pipp doing here!?!”
-
>”We were… until Jazz accidentally mentioned it when she was giving me a hooficure. Let’s say Pipp heard it and began to plan a huge list of activities we can do tonight.”
-
“And you didn’t say no!?!”
-
>”I-I tried! It’s hard to stop her when she starts!”
-
>Posey stops and puts her hoof on her forehead.
-
“Ughh… You're right… completely forgot she’s like that, but what are we going to do with her?”
-
>”Look, Posey, it’s just going to be one night. I’m positive that Pipp will never get to do all of those activities before passing out.”
-
“Let’s just hope.”
-
>The two ponies return to the living room to see Dahlia and Jazz talking to each other as Pipp is preparing the snacks.
-
>”You don’t mind if I make myself some nachos? What am I saying, of course you don’t.”
-
>Windy grits her teeth with embarrassment as Posey unfastens the strap from her barrel, still grumpy as ever.
-
>”Hey Posey, glad you can make it. I’m so sorry about Pipp.”
-
>Posey lowers her eyebrows, obviously not impressed by Jazz’s freudian slip.
-
>The yellow mare’s only answer is a snort and a harrumph before beginning to unpack her luggage.
-
>Jazz’s face sulks with sorrow as Dahlia comforts her.
-
>Posey plops her sleeping bag on the ground before the doorbell rings throughout the house.
-
>”I wonder who’s at the door?”
-
>”I hope it’s not a salespony.”
-
>”It’s not that, Dahlia! I’ve invited a friend to join us!”
-
“UGH! Really Pipp!?!”
-
>Ignoring Posey’s discontent, the flying pink pony flings open the door, revealing the figure.
-
>Posey’s eyes shrink to the size of pin pricks at the beast; it is no other than Anonymous.
-
>”Hey guys! Did I miss anything?”
-
>Posey backs away quickly and reaches over to her teddy bear, desperately hiding it in her suitcase as Pipp talks Anon’s ear off.
-
-
>”Posey.”
-
>Posey turns around quickly, sweat beating off of her face as she comes face to face with what she expects to be one of the two uninvited guests.
-
>Right in front of her is Windy, concern painting her face.
-
>”Are you leaving?”
-
>Posey’s expression turns downward in defeat before becoming more serious.
-
“Yes. Yes, I’m leaving. I can’t stand it that not only Pipp is here, but she has the gall to make a mess in the kitchen and invite HIM over! Who else did she invite?! Izzy? Seaspray? Snowshine? Dizzy Lizzy? The entire town!?! No way, Windy! I’m outta here!”
-
>”Just hold on! If we talk some sense into her, maybe she won’t invite everypony over.”
-
“Sense? To her? Unlikely story.”
-
>Windy’s snout scrunches as her eyebrows furrow downwards, expressing her frustration at Posey’s stubbornness on not even trying to talk to the fat pegasus.
-
>Posey’s best friend turns around and trots over to the foyer.
-
>”Hey, Pipp, can I talk to you in private for a minute?”
-
>”Sure?”
-
>Windy grabs hold of Pipp’s hoof and drags her outside.
-
>”What do you want to talk about?”
-
>”You and your plans.”
-
>”What about them?”
-
>”Can, no, will you please reel back your plans? I’ve invited Posey over as this is her first sleepover and you’re not making it easy on her.”
-
>”Really? I didn’t know that you did all of this for her! And I didn’t even know she never had a sleepover!”
-
>”Yeah, I was shocked when I asked over the phone, so this needs to be successful if she wants to have more sleepovers.”
-
>”Don’t worry, I won’t invite any more friends over to this party.”
-
>After the two pegasi trot back into the house, they see Posey, all strapped up and ready to bolt home.
-
>”Posey.”
-
“What now, Windy?”
-
>With a hoof, Windy gestures the yellow mare to come over to her.
-
>With a snort, Posey begrudgingly accepts the gesture.
-
>”Pipp has something to say to you.”
-
>”What?”
-
>With light shoving from Windy, Pipp is pushed close to Posey.
-
>The towering yellow pony intimated Pipp a bit, her eyebrow raised as she waited for the pegasus’ answer.
-
>”Ahem, Posey, I’m sorry about that. I should've known better than to barge into your sleepover and make it mine. Will you forgive me?”
-
“Pipp, I th—”
-
>Hesitating, Posey looks back at all of her friends and Anon that she completely forgot about.
-
>Normally, she would gladly tell her to go, but doing so might give her crush a negative view of her and be hypocritical to kick out Pipp but not Anon since she hadn’t seen him for half a week.
-
“Alright, you can stay.”
-
>Pipp flies into the air with excitement at Posey’s answer.
-
-
>Posey could only just mumble to herself that this was a bad idea she chose.
-
>The two ponies enter the living room to join the other three ponies and human.
-
>”Glad to see you’re not leaving.”
-
>Posey lets Jazz’s attempt to break the ice and returns an answer.
-
“Yeah, me too, I guess.”
-
>Jazz’s eyes move to Windy as Posey begins to sift through her luggage.
-
>”So what’s on the menu tonight?”
-
>”How about we play a game of Would you rather.”
-
>Everyone replies with affirmative nods, besides Posey who just looks at them with boredom.
-
>Reaching to the deck of cards, Windy starts shuffling them.
-
>Everyone gathers around in a circle as Windy lays thes shuffled cards in the middle of the circle before starting a timer on her phone.
-
>”Alright everypony, who wants to go first?”
-
>”I’ll go, Windy.”
-
>Dahlia picks up a card and reads the card as she looks over to her friends.
-
>”Alright Windy, Would you rather mind control ponies or be able to put words in their mouths?”
-
>”I would rather mind control ponies to do my bidding than twist my friends’ mouths.”
-
>Now that it is Windy’s turn, she picks up a card.
-
>”Would you rather earn 1 bit for each word you say or earn 1 bit for each step you take, Pipp?”
-
>”Pfft easily 1 bit for each word I say. Plus making those extra bits when I practice my singing is a nice bonus when I fund my business.”
-
>Posey rolls her eyes and mutters under her breath about the fat pig.
-
“Typical…”
-
>”Okay Anon, here’s your question: Would you rather have somepony cheat on you or you cheat on somepony and they find out?”
-
>”Oh god, I’d rather be caught cheating than have my very special somepony cheat on me and I never find out.”
-
>”Interesting choice.”
-
>”Ready to hear your question, Jazz?”
-
>Jazz nods while beginning to sweat, hoping that the question wouldn’t be embarrassing.
-
>”Would you rather be unhappily single or unhappily married?”
-
>”Unhappily single. I wouldn’t want my Rocky to be so depressed.”
-
>The stylish blue mare grabs a hoof of a card.
-
>”Would you rather be stuck in a cave for a day or stuck in an elevator for a day?”
-
”100% cave, I HATE being stuck not only in an elevator, but having that death trap of a box dangle in the air would give me a heart attack. I can buck my way out in a cave.”
-
>Looking down at the stack of cards with no amusement, Posey picks one up and reads it.
-
“Would you rather spend eight hours listening to someone scratch a chalkboard with their hooves or have a mosquito buzzing around your head as you try to sleep each night for a month?”
-
>”Have a mosquito buzz around my head.”
-
>The game goes on for another ten minutes, some questions that are embarrassing, some ridiculous, some thought provoking, and even some secrets revealed.
-
>All of them enjoyed the game, even Posey lightened up and started to enjoy the game.
-
>Now in the last three minutes of the game, Jazz was finishing her answer that she would rather shave her eyebrows and was ready to ask Posey her question.
-
>”Okay Posey, would you rather option A: kiss your crush in front of everypony and tell them your embarrassing secret or B: Toss a coin — If heads, you have to kiss your crush. If tails, you have to tell them your secret.”
-
>Completely dumbfounded, Posey sits there, mouth agape and a small, but noticeable, blush beginning to form on her face.
-
>She looks at Anon, expressionless, and to Dahlia and Windy, uncertainty and worry on their faces.
-
“Uhh… Toss a coin.”
-
>”Alright, does anypony have a coin?”
-
>”Gotcha Jazz.”
-
>Anon fiddles in his pocket and takes out a small golden coin.
-
>Flicking the coin over to Jazz, she catches it with her two hooves.
-
>The room around Posey begins to slow to a crawl as she looks at the coin being thrown into the air by Jazz.
-
>Dread fills the yellow pony as she knows she has to fulfill one of the two questions.
-
>Posey closes her eyes as the coin reaches its final resting place on the floor.
-
>”It’s tails.”
-
>Opening her eyes, she sees the tails side of the coin. But still not believing in the luck, she wipes her eyes with her hooves to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating, tails still on the coin as clear as day.
-
>She wipes the sweat off of her forehead before realizing she has to tell everypony her embarrassing secret.
-
“Do I have to?”
-
>The ponies look at each other with different expressions before a voice cries out.
-
>”You have to, Posey. Them’s the rules.”
-
>Posey’s ears flatten and her expression turns from worry to disappointment.
-
“Gee, thanks Anon…”
-
>Getting up from her spot, she slowly trots over to her luggage and begins fishing through the large rolling compartment.
-
>Clenching her eyes shut, she turns around with her prize. She hears Dahlia’s voice speak out first.
-
>”That’s really not that embarrassing, Posey. Most of us have at least one plushie hanging by our bed or shelf.”
-
“Not only that, but I… well… have a small collection of plushies in my bed and… I gave them all names... This one is named Godred.”
-
>Posey quickly closes her eyes again, expecting everypony to laugh at her.
-
>Posey opens her eyes again when the sounds of ‘Awws’ were exchanged by the ponies while Anon just shrug nonchalantly as the timer beeps.
-
>”THAT’S. SO. ADORABLY!!!”
-
“N-No it’s not, Pipp!”
-
>Posey places her purple teddy bear back into her luggage and trots back to her spot.
-
-
>”Alright everypony, the next activity we’re doing is hooficures! Do you have your hooficure kit, Jazz?”
-
>”Sure do, Windy!”
-
>Everypony looks on with wonder as Jazz’s hooficure kit flails out to display all kinds of hoof polish and equipment.
-
>”EEEEE!!!! I can’t wait!”
-
“Sweet Majesty, can you not scream in my ear?”
-
>The poor yellow pony’s words go unheard as Pipp races over to Jazz’s kit to grab the eyeliner.
-
>”Who’s first for the hooficure!?”
-
>”OOO! Me!”
-
>As Jazz scoots over to Dahlia to ask her what color she wants on her hooves, Pipp stands in front of the two unhooficured ponies and the relaxed human.
-
>”How about you three? The special somepony will be the FIRST to try out my new eyeliner technique?”
-
“In your dreams! Not letting you near me after you burnt my mane.”
-
>”Hey Pipp, I got an idea. How about I take care of Posey’s eyeliner and you do Anon’s!”
-
>”Huh?”
-
>”Deal!”
-
>Pipp grabs a hold of Anon’s necklace of his t-shirt and begins pulling him over to a swivel chair.
-
>Posey sits in a recliner and pulls the lever, reclining back into the relaxed position.
-
>”So Posey, which design do you want?”
-
“Just the usual.”
-
>”Are you sure, Posey? Have you ever wanted to live a bit more freely?”
-
“Not really.”
-
>”But you’ve enjoyed the previous game.”
-
“That’s just a fluke! The game just caught me off guard.”
-
>”Maybe or maybe not, but I think you’re afraid to step out of your comfort zone, Posey. Can you please think on it?”
-
>Posey stumbles a bit on her words, reflecting on when her bestie first invited her over to a sleepover, her attitude when starting the first activity of the night, and even back to attending the Wishingtime event in the city.
-
“Okay, but don’t do anything extravagant like Pipp’s doing.”
-
>”Don’t you worry, Posey, I’m sure I can do something new and simple for you to like.”
-
>Posey’s eyelids go limp as Windy begins to work her magic.
-
“Thanks for saving me from her…”
-
>”You’re welcome.”
-
>Windy starts layering Posey’s eyelashes with pink eyeliner.
-
>”So how was your day?”
-
“It was fine for the most part, except when I tripped over Izzy’s hooves. I swear that hornhead gives me the worst luck imaginable.”
-
>”Have you tried talking to her about your luck with her?”
-
“Why should I? Whenever it’s not bad luck she’s giving me, it’s some stupid question that has a simple solution, and don’t get me started on that Misty.”
-
>Pipp pipes up from hearing Posey’s conversation.
-
>”Izzy is not all that bad, she’s just naive. I’m sure growing up in a forest makes you more of a hermit to everything outside.”
-
“Still, I rather avoid her at all costs.”
-
>”Guess writing to her is out of the question.”
-
“It is, monkey boy!”
-
-
>As Posey is busy talking about Izzy and now starting on Misty, Windy is putting on the eyeliner.
-
>On the outer v of Posey’s eyelashes, Windy thickens the corner and draws the yellow pony’s eyelid crease before the halfway point.
-
“—nd another thing abo—”
-
>Windy moves her eyeliner pencil away from Posey’s eyes and quickly looks at her own cutiemark.
-
>Quickly nodding, Windy moves back to her best friend’s eyelid and draws the pointed tips of her cutiemark right below Posey’s eyebrow bone.
-
”—ways cries when she doesn’t get her way!”
-
>”Do you like this design, Posey?”
-
>Windy hoofs up a small handheld mirror up to Posey’s peripheral view.
-
>After lifting her head up, Posey cranes her head from side to side to check the designs at different angles.
-
“Not bad… In fact, I quite like it.”
-
>Windy beams from ear to ear upon hearing Posey’s praise.
-
>Posey leans her head back onto the recliner, indicating to Windy that she wants her right eyelashes to go through the same treatment.
-
>“What’s next on the list?”
-
>Windy, beginning on Posey’s right eyelashes, pulls up the eyeliner pencil and puts a hoof on her chin.
-
>”It’s either video games or movies. Why?”
-
>”I want this creature off of me.”
-
>Windy’s eyes move over to see the creature, Pipp Petals.
-
>”Quit acting like a foal, Anon! You look quite stunning!”
-
>Quickly swiveling the chair around, Pipp proudly shows her newly invented creation to her friends.
-
>All of the ponies, even Posey, ‘ooo’ and ‘ahh’ at Anon’s stunning new eyeliner look.
-
>”Can I wash this shit off now?”
-
>Ignoring Anon’s complaint, Windy gives the finishing touches on Posey’s new eyeliner.
-
>”Alright Posey, how do you like it?”
-
>Posey lets out a cute, but quiet squee.
-
“I love how you did those wings below my eyebrow!”
-
>”Do you want your hooves polished?”
-
>Showing some much needed confidence, Posey proudly trots over to Jazz.
-
“Sure thing, Jazz!”
-
>Windy smiles at Posey’s mood change.
-
>”So what color do you want for your hooves?”
-
“Make it pink like my mane.”
-
>Posey whips her ponytail around with pride.
-
>Jazz paints the mare’s hooves with a base coat before drying it off.
-
>Posey looks back at her friends getting eyebrows or nails done and smiles.
-
>Her eyes move from friend to friend, she finally rests on Anon. He is still not happy about not only having his eyebrows done, but also having his nails done.
-
>She keeps her eyes on the human for much longer than she has on the others, her heart being filled with butterflies.
-
>After the base coat dries off, Jazz applies a first coat of pink polish.
-
>”Posey?”
-
>Posey quickly turns around, a noticeable blush forming on her face.
-
“Y-Yes?”
-
>”Are you alright?”
-
“I’m fine! Just fine!”
-
>Posey begins to chuckle out of embarrassment as her friends turn their heads to look at her weirdly.
-
>”...Okay?”
-
>Jazz begins to apply another coat on the embarrassed mare’s hooves.
-
>Posey felt like the entire world was staring at her despite everyone else going back to doing their own thing.
-
>Posey thoughts run wild with worry about what just happened.
-
‘Sweet Majesty on a pogo stick, I totally made myself a fool in front of everyone, especially in front of Anon.’
-
>”Finished!”
-
>Posey snaps back to reality from Jazz’s exclamation.
-
>”Just finished with the last coat, what do you think?”
-
>From looking at Jazz’s expression to her own hooves, Posey lets out a small smile.
-
“I like it…”
-
>Jazz’s smile grows brighter with pride, knowing that she got Posey’s approval for her work.
-
>”Hey Dahlia and Windy, check out these bad puppies.”
-
>Posey turns around to show her pink hooves to them.
-
>The two ponies stare at the yellow mare’s hooves with wonder and awe as they shine under the living room lights.
-
>Pipp lets out a chuckle from the other side of the room.
-
>”That’s not shiny, THIS is shiny!”
-
>Pipp turns the chair around to show Anon’s fingernails.
-
>The ten fingernails shine so bright that all the ponies caught in the crossfire covered their faces.
-
>”Mother Celestia in the highest, hide those things away! Too bright!”
-
>Anon casually puts his hands in his pockets after Dahlia’s command.
-
>”I’m getting this shit off. This shiny crap could be considered a crime.”
-
>Pipp whines at Anon’s comment.
-
>”But you look so pretty in it, especially the eyeliner!”
-
>”Too bad!”
-
>Anon walks into the nearest bathroom to wash all the eyeliner and nail polish off.
-
>Taking the opportunity to change the subject, Windy speaks aloud.
-
>”Okay, next up is video games!”
-
>Posey lets out a groan of displeasure while Pipp’s eyes beam with excitement.
-
>”I can’t wait to play some games!”
-
>”But Pipp, you’re not good at video games.”
-
>”Am not, Dahlia!”
-
>Dahlia rolls her eyes at the offended pegasus.
-
>”I saw you die multiple times on the same level during one of your streams.”
-
>”It was hard!”
-
>”You forgot what the jump button was and got killed by the first enemy.”
-
>Pipp stutters, trying to find her words.
-
“I honestly didn’t know you LIKE video games!”
-
>Windy blushes with embarrassment all the while rubbing her arm.
-
>”Well… I didn’t mention it after you said you hated video games.”
-
>Anon returns to the living room, clean as a whistle after washing off that girly shit.
-
>”What’s that about video games?”
-
>”Oh, Anon, we were talking about playing some games. Wanna join in?”
-
>”Sure thing, Windy.”
-
>Posey rolls her eyes and scoffs, thinking that only the inferior species would play them.
-
>Windy turns on her video game console and tv. The tv blares out the home menu and the games on it.
-
>”So what game are we playing?”
-
>”Glad you asked, Anon. Since I love a good challenge, I figure you and I go one on one in a game of Gunpone 2! The one who gets the highest score wins.”
-
>Seeing Windy giving out a shit eating smirk like she was secretly telling him he doesn’t have the balls for it, Anon decides to dish out a smirk of his own.
-
>”You’re on!”
-
>Windy grabs hold of her controller and presses one of the buttons to start the game program.
-
>The game title shows a blue unicorn mare with golden locks flying on a broom.
-
>Pressing the start button, the main title is replaced with the character select screen.
-
>Windy selects the character on the title screen as her main as Anon picks the robot.
-
>After selecting their characters, they were transported to a Wild West location, but before they could take in the background, enemies appeared from the top of the screen.
-
>The unicorn character starts blasting blue sprites of energy from her horn, hitting and killing the enemies.
-
>The enemies come in droves as Anon and Windy keep on shooting them down.
-
>The ponies, and even the occasional glance from Posey, watch on as pegasus and human fight to stay on top.
-
>More and more enemies from shooting cacti to cylindrical tubes on treads bombarded the two while shooting.
-
>Level after level, the stage gets harder and harder, but the two players never gave up as they were determined to be the winner.
-
>Windy’s face grows red and huff as she sees the human is still acting casual while being the end game.
-
>”How on Luna's moon are you not sweating like Tartarus!?”
-
>Anon simply replies with a shrug as he’s easily taking care of the second to last boss while the pegasus is busy trying to dodge the lasers spinning towards her.
-
>Shifting her eyes from the game, Windy notices Anon’s rapidly successful tapping with his right thumb on the action button.
-
>Returning her attention back to the game, she knows that she has no more credits and she’s over if she’s hit.
-
>As the boss in Aztec iconography changes from blue to red, its dragon-like claws raise in the air and begin to blast out lasers from its fingertips.
-
>The enemy changes attack pattern as a black sphere starts to form, and before Windy can realize, the sphere blasts out small rapid-fire lasers from all over the surface of the sphere.
-
>Windy’s character’s last health bar drops to zero; Windy couldn’t believe it as she watches her character leave the screen.
-
>Windy shifts her head to her left to see Anon still focusing on the game as the ponies, mostly Pipp, cheer on for him.
-
>Windy’s mouth is agape as Anon defeats the boss.
-
-
>But Anon isn’t done yet, he continues on with the game as he heads on to the final boss with half of his health gone.
-
>Anon’s character enters a room with a humongous circular altar in the middle.
-
>Three villains of the boss’ first phase enter the room as their three jars fly around before being absorbed by one of the villains riding in their floating pods.
-
>Everpony looks on with anxiety as Anon rapidly taps on his controller, fighting back the villains’ unique fight patterns.
-
>After the two villains succumb to Anon’s firepower, the altar posts begin to move as the middle ring begins to spin as a bright light shoots out from the ring.
-
>Arising from the bright light, the final boss’ second form appears. The rather goofy final boss begins to blow on its horn, causing a large laser to shoot out.
-
>”Come on Anon, you gotta beat him! I’ve never been this far!”
-
>Even though she wouldn’t admit it, Posey was standing on edge as the two fictional characters fought one another.
-
>The elephant boss pulls out two jars and shoots out two pills. The pills don't head for Anon’s character, but spin around shooting little pellets.
-
>Anon manages to avoid most of the pellets, but still wasn’t lucky enough as he still gets hit.
-
>Ramping up the difficulty after the boss was unlucky from being damaged by Anon, the boss begins to use all of its attacks.
-
>Sweat forming on his head, Anon’s damp fingers rapidly tap the action button while moving the D-pad in multiple directions as the pellets and lasers fill the screen.
-
>With a quick coup de grâce, the final boss falls into the rotating background and explodes.
-
>Silence fills the room as the screen darkens as ‘THE END’ fills the TV.
-
>The screen changes to a wooden slab with the top of the slab having a metal plate bolted to it titled ‘SCORE RANKING’.
-
>The numbers under the plate show the two players’ score in each level and the total.
-
>Windy: 3,834,025 pts.
-
>Anon: 2,093,807 pts.
-
>Windy couldn’t believe it, she completely forgot about the coin system of the game. She’s been so entranced by how Anon managed to get to the final boss.
-
>The two players face each other and begin to shake each other’s appendages.
-
>”You did great, Windy.”
-
>”And so did you. How did you manage to defeat the final boss!? I’ve been trying to defeat that boss!”
-
>Anon shrugs before Posey lets out a cough.
-
“Anyway, are you two done with playing such children's games?”
-
>Windy and Anon look at Posey, then to each other, shrug, and look back at the yellow pony.
-
>”Yeah, basically.”
-
“Good, can we now do something we can do TOGETHER?”
-
>Windy gets out her list to read out.
-
>”Well, we can… watch a movie, bracelet making, arts & crafts, storytelling, making cupcakes—”
-
>”CUPCAKES!?!”
-
>Pipp exclaims with stars appearing in her eyes.
-
>”Don’t you worry ponies! I, Pipp the cupcake ar-tist, will gladly let you in on my super secret cupcake recipe! It’s love and music!”
-
>Posey rolls her eyes at Pipp’s corniness while she, Windy, and Dahlia are getting the cooking utensils.
-
>Anon looks in the lower cabinet and pulls out the big flour bag.
-
>”Ugh, why did you buy such a big bag of flour?”
-
>Windy is interrupted by Pipp, with the help of Jazz, arranges the rest of the cooking material from a tub of unsalted butter to an even larger bag of sugar on the counter.
-
>Anon looks at the comically large sugar bag and then to his flour bag, making it seem miniscule.
-
>”Never mind the flour, what about the sugar!?”
-
>Windy sweats with embarrassment while shrugging.
-
>”It was cheap…”
-
>Pipp drops a block of butter, vanilla extract, sugar, and oil into the large bowls before grabbing the flexible spatula.
-
>”What are you standing there for?! Come and help me, girls!”
-
>Pipp’s friends grab their flexible spatula, besides Windy who trots over to the oven to set it on preheat.
-
>As the gang whisk their batter between those three minutes, Dahlia leans close to Posey to whisper.
-
>”Posey.”
-
>Posey lightly pushes the modest Neighponese pony away from her.
-
”Not now, Dahlia.”
-
>”But, Posey, this is important.”
-
>Posey sighs and lets Dahlia speak her peace.
-
>”I’ve been wondering. Why would Pipp just invite Anon over?”
-
“Probably because she’s friends with him.”
-
>”I-I don’t understand, the only thing they have in common is that they play video games.”
-
>Posey’s mind begins to click like a lighter trying to spark up a flame.
-
“Now that you mention it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Anon try to be the one to start conversations with Pipp.”
-
>Posey eyes Pipp with suspension as the pink mare is busy going crazy with the bowl.
-
-
“And I wonder why she hasn’t invited anypony else… She normally always invites multiple ponies to every get-together…”
-
>Posey cracks a few eggs into her mixing bowl and continues to mix, not taking her eyes off of Pipp and Anon.
-
>As Pipp, either not noticing the glare or intentionally ignoring it, is busy talking to Anon about a new subline of perfume, the human turns his head over and notices Posey.
-
>As their eyes meet, Posey immediately turns her head back to her stirring, but not forgetting her chat with Dahlia.
-
>Pipp finishes her mix, satisfied as it turns out, and makes her way over to check on how well her friends did.
-
>From Jazz to Windy, she nods at every batch, indicating that they’re up to her standard.
-
>”Alright everypony! Time to pour our batches into the cupcake trays!”
-
>Everypony carefully pour their batches, making sure not to spill any.
-
>Going first, Pipp carries her tray over and puts it in the oven, followed by Posey.
-
>Posey follows Pipp as the winged princess pony trots over to the pantry to get the frosting out.
-
“Pipp.”
-
>”Yes, Posey?”
-
“I need to talk to you.”
-
>”That’s nice, now where’s the sprinkles?”
-
>Noticing that Pipp is too busy being distracted by sprinkles, Posey grabs a mouthful of Pipp’s hair.
-
>”OW!!! NOT THE MANE!”
-
>She pulls her out of the kitchen and into an adjacent closet.
-
>The room goes dark for a moment until a click is heard and a bright light comes shining from the overhead bulb with a beaded wire attached to it.
-
>Foodstuffs and canned products decorated the wall behind them.
-
>”What was that for!? Do you know how long it takes to do my mane!?! A. LONG. TI-MRPH!?!”
-
>Posey shoves her fetlock-covered hoof into Pipp’s mouth, silencing her.
-
“Will you shut up for a second and listen to me!?”
-
>Pipp nods slowly, in return, Posey backs her hoof away from Pipp’s mouth.
-
“Now, explain why you’ve only invited Anon here?”
-
>”What do you mean?”
-
>Posey scoffs at Pipp’s attempt at being dumb.
-
“Don’t act stupid! You and Anon barely have anything in common, so why did you invite him over?!”
-
>Pipp clears her throat and keeps her cool before Posey could get another word in.
-
>”He asked. He wanted to ask Windy if he could come, but he was too afraid, so I invited him.”
-
“Bullshit, he doesn’t seem to be a shy stallion type.”
-
>”Oh, he secretly is. He just doesn’t want to show it, I assure you. And please don’t tell him about this, he would get very embarrassed and try to deny it.”
-
>The yellow mare narrows her eyes with suspicion upon Pipp’s explanation.
-
“I don’t know if I should trust you or not… I hope you’re not lying…”
-
>Pipp felt a chill creep up her spine from Posey’s words.
-
>”Of course not, why would I?”
-
>Still eyeing her with suspicion, Posey opens the door and exits.
-
>Pipp lets out a breath, glad that the interrogation is over.
-
>”You alright, Pipp?”
-
>Pipp lets out a sly smile.
-
>”Yeah, I’m fine.”
-
-
>Dahlia, Windy, and Anon are busy in the kitchen, from Anon taking out the third tray from the oven to Dahlia busy decorating the cupcakes, to say that they weren’t busy would be lying.
-
>”Where’ve you been?”
-
“Quiet Denisovan, I’ve been talking to Pipp.”
-
>Dahlia raises an eyebrow upon hearing about this.
-
>”About what?”
-
“About some things.”
-
>Okay… but what specifically?”
-
>Posey lets out a sigh, hating to lie to her friends.
-
“I’ve been talking to her about that cupcake recipe of hers; I would love to make some when I get home.”
-
>”Sounds right to me, Pipp does know how to make a mean cupcake. I tried some of hers during that meet & greet she held for her pippsqueaks.”
-
>Finishing off decorating the first tray of cupcakes by dotting the frost with sprinkles, Windy, who is casually listening to the conversation, swivels her head over to Posey.
-
>”I’m just glad you’re breaking your boundaries to talk to somepony different.”
-
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.”
-
>Posey moves over to the third tray to decorate her cupcakes.
-
>Pipp and Jazz trots back into the kitchen, one trying way too hard on revealing her poker face, and the other acting like nothing’s happening.
-
>”Alright everypony, No-Oh! Glad to see everypony decorating their cupcakes, right Jazz!?”
-
>Jazz doesn’t answer, still staring out with a forced smile on her muzzle.
-
>”Jazz?”
-
>Still not answering…
-
>Pipp trots forward and gets in front of Jazz, waving her hoof a few inches away from the blue pony’s face.
-
>The sudden sound of lightning snaps Jazz out of her stupor.
-
>”I was hoping we could do some stargazing after this.”
-
>Windy’s face downtroddens from the increasing sound of rain pelting against the roof.
-
>”Anyway, let me show you ponies how I decorate my cupcakes!”
-
>Pipp trots over to the oven and gets the last tray out.
-
>After quickly decorating the cupcakes, Pipp proudly shows her creation to her friends. Every single cupcake is decorated in everyone’s signature colors.
-
>”Dig in, everypony!”
-
>As Posey, along with all of her friends, tries out a cupcake from each batch, she considers Anon’s batch the best. Now, whether it’s because of Anon’s cooking skill or just her bias due to her crush, she doesn't know.
-
“Anon… these cupcakes taste fantastic… along with everypony else.”
-
>Posey finishes in a way to not only compliment Anon and everypony else, but also make sure Pipp, Anon, or Jazz doesn’t know about her true feelings.
-
>”Thanks, I can say the same for yours.”
-
>Posey’s heart flutters harder from hearing Anon’s praise.
-
>Everypony enjoyed each other’s cupcakes until there were only a few left on the plate.
-
>”Alright everypony, gather around!”
-
>Windy states excitedly as her friends gather around her.
-
>”It’s 12am, and we got one more activity on the list! It’s a movie, and the guest of honor will pick from the bookcase!”
-
>Windy’s friends turn their heads over to the bookcase Windy gestures to. The bookcase shelves are full to the brim of movies spanning from different genes and years.
-
>”I hope it’s a horror movie.”
-
>”Same, Anon! I love being spooked!!!”
-
>Posey, feeling a little deflated upon hearing Anon and Pipp enjoying their conversation about horror, trots up the bookcase full of movies.
-
>Turning her head around, she looks at the dvd case. The bold lettering on the case is titled “GENERIC HORROR FILM”.
-
>Posey lets out a laugh at the cover as Windy notices what she chose.
-
>”Posey!? Are you sure you want to watch that film!?”
-
“Sure! Why not? ‘Generic Horror Film’ 'is its title, I’m sure it’s not scary.”
-
>Windy stands there in befuddlement at the idea of Posey watching a horror film.
-
>”B-but but! Remember when Sunny and her friends spooked you on Nightmare Night or when I took you to see ‘Saturday The 14th’?”
-
>Posey tries her best to hide her embarrassment and upcoming fear with a scoff.
-
“Both of those incidents got me when I had my guard down. I know that this time, it’s going to be different.”
-
>Windy looks on with concern as Posey slides the DVD into the media player.
-
>As everypony trot over to the couch, all in various states of emotions, Posey is the last to get to the couch.
-
>The couch is stuffed to the brim, mostly due to Anon’s and Pipp’s size, making it impossible for her to find a possible spot to rest her rear on.
-
>Posey sits on the floor next to Windy in front of the couch.
-
>”You know you can choose another film. It isn’t worth the suffering just because Anon likes that genre.”
-
>Posey shooshes Windy away from whispering in her ear.
-
>The yellow pony quickly taps on the remote she retrieved from the lamp table.
-
>The darkness of the tv lights up as Dahlia turns off the living room light.
-
>The movie’s title appears with bold red letters, painting the living room with its color.
-
>As the movie continues its run, Posey quietly shifts in her spot, discomfort grows in her gut.
-
>Outside of Windy’s little get together, the rain continues to beat against the house harder and harder.
-
>Farther away from the house a wet dark form is galloping towards the house, the sound of rumbling echoing in the rain against its hooves.
-
>The main character on the TV creeps her head over the corner of the house. She looks towards the window as the storm outside beats against it.
-
>As the lightning on the television flashes across the screen, a darken figure stands outside, its face pressed against the glass.
-
>Before the figure could do anything, the TV immediately shuts off as lightning flashes outside of the window.
-
-
>Posey lets out a scream while Dahlia and Jazz are hugging each other in fear.
-
>”Don’t worry, everypony! It’s just a power outage!”
-
>Windy says in an attempt to soothe everyone as she trots over to the lightswitch to test her presumption.
-
>Another flash of light zooms past the window.
-
>Another scream sounds out, this time from Jazz.
-
>After that scream, Anon begins to feel his leg being tugged on.
-
>”Uh…”
-
>”What’s wrong, Anon?”
-
>Anon licks his lips as sweat drips from his forehead, unsure if he should answer Windy’s question.
-
>”I don’t want to frighten you all, but something’s tugging on my leg.”
-
>From hearing that, Pipp grabs her phone.
-
>”Don’t worry, I’ll use my phone to see what it could be.”
-
>Jazz lifts her head from the hug with Dahlia.
-
>”Come on Pipp, please hurry. This is freaking me out!”
-
>”I’m trying! It’s not turning on!”
-
”Girls… There’s s-something more dire than p-phones… Look!”
-
>Everyone turns their heads to the window to see a shadowy figure pressing its form against the window pane.
-
>”I-It can’t be true…”
-
>As Windy stutters out a word, another flash of lighting crosses the window.
-
>It was only a split second, but it was enough for Posey to let out an ear piercing scream at the figure.
-
>All the light bulbs flicker back on, showering everyone in light.
-
>Posey looks to her left and notices a leg in her view, and that leg was no one other than Anon's.
-
>She looks up at him and then backs her gaze down.
-
>She immediately backs away upon recognizing that she had her forelegs wrapped tightly around his leg.
-
>As Posey splutters, the light reaches the window to show that the figure is no other than Fifi.
-
>”Can you girls let me in?”
-
>Windy races over to the door to let the drenched mare in.
-
>As Fifi trots in, she places a package on the ground and pulls out a clipboard with her teeth.
-
>”Package for Windy.”
-
>The light red mare looks at the oversized package, getting closer to read the label on who it was for.
-
>”Umm… Fifi, this package is for a pony named Snake Oiler.”
-
>Fifi’s face turns from relief for her last delivery, to befuddlement, to down right horror from her mistake.
-
>”Oh no… If I have Snake Oiler’s package, then Backstamp must be delivering your package for Snake Oiler!”
-
>The pastel blue mare grabs the large package and starts to push it.
-
-
>”Oh dear! I gotta make up for lost time!”
-
>Windy runs ahead of Fifi to stop her as her friends enter the frame.
-
>”Fifi! Wait!”
-
>With one unlucky hoof getting tangled in Fifi’s frantic trots, Windy trips herself and Fifi to fall right onto the package.
-
>The two groan as they try to get up.
-
“Windy! Are you okay?!”
-
>”Yeah… Fifi?”
-
>Getting up from the box, Fifi begins to rip off some of the wet cardboard that’s clinging onto her fur.
-
>”No…”
-
>Windy looks up at Fifi with perturbation.
-
>”Fifi, you should stay here for the night. It’s dangerous out there!”
-
>Fifi looks around nervously.
-
>”But— But I have to deliver the package or else I wouldn’t be a good delivery mare!”
-
“Not like you were good at it anyway.”
-
>Windy looks back at her best friend with an ominous glare before returning her attention back to Fifi.
-
>”Don’t listen to her, listen, how about you take a quick wash in the shower? I’m sure you’ll think clearer afterwards.”
-
>Fifi ponders on Windy’s suggestion for a moment before slightly nodding.
-
>”Okay…”
-
>The light blue pegasus trots off towards Windy’s bathroom.
-
>”Ok, now since we’ve gotten an unexpected guest, we’re going to stay up a bit to see if she’s staying or going.”
-
>Windy grabs her sleeping bag and unfurls it.
-
“Aren’t you going to sleep in your bed?”
-
>”No, why would I?”
-
“Well, I expected that you would sleep in your bed.”
-
>”That’s silly, Posey, I’ve always slept in my sleeping bag with my friends back home.”
-
>Posey puts her hoof up against her chin in thought as the other ponies are busy with their own sleeping bags.
-
>She decides to trot her suitcase to retrieve her sleeping bag.
-
>Posey lifts her head, noticing Dahlia waving her hoof over to attract her.
-
>The yellow mare trots over to her childhood friend right beside the couch.
-
>”Want to place your slumber bag near mine?”
-
>Posey shrugs and drops her sleeping bag, giving it enough space between her and Dahila’s bag in case someone has to trot pass.
-
>As the two childhood friends are busy fluffing out their sleeping bags, Anon makes his way towards the couch.
-
>Dahlia and Posey notices Anon is carrying a blanket and a pillow.
-
>”Uhhh… Anon?”
-
>”Yeah Dahlia?”
-
>”Don’t you have a slumber bag? You can borrow mine if you want.”
-
“Dahlia!? Don’t give him your bag! You don’t know where he’s been!”
-
>Anon, somehow oblivious to the noticeable blush on Posey's face, brushes off the two mares.
-
>”Thanks for the offer, but no, I probably can’t fit into your sleeping bag.”
-
>Anon goes back to fluffing his pillow.
-
>Dahlia looks at Posey with a small smile.
-
>”You’re blushing again.”
-
>Dahlia’s friend furrows her eyebrows, her teeth grinding against each other.
-
“No, I’m not.”
-
-
>Dahlia shakes her disprovingly as Posey trots back to her back to grab her toothbrush and toothpaste.
-
>While making her way to the kitchen sink to brush her teeth, the bathroom door opens to let out a freshened up Fifi walks out.
-
>Fifi’s face is full of determination as she puts on her visor cap.
-
>”You’re still leaving, Fifi?”
-
>”I have to, Windy. I must face any challenge that is ahead of me for this package to get delivered.”
-
>”Hold on Fifi, you’ll need this.”
-
>Windy trots over to a closet and pulls out a raincoat.
-
>Fifi puts on the raincoat, shows Windy gratitude, grabs her package, and trots out the door.
-
>Posey returns back, mane flowing without her bow while letting out a yawn.
-
“Can we sleep now?”
-
>”Yep, we can sleep now.”
-
>Windy trots over to the lightswitch and flips it down, causing the whole room to darken.
-
“Good, I’m tired as Tarturas.”
-
>After everyone says their good nights, all the friends fall fast asleep in their sleeping bags. Well, almost everyone.
-
>Posey lays there in between the snores and breathing of all of her friends.
-
>Usually, her sleeping mask helps her fall asleep faster, but not tonight. Something else is clutching her tightly to the waking world.
-
>She clutches her teddy bear tightly against her barrel as her mind goes back to tonight’s activities.
-
>Her regret on not talking to Anon grows as the rain bats against the roof.
-
>She twists her head to look up at the couch that held the sleeping giant.
-
>Thoughts of him swirl throughout her head, she didn’t know what to do.
-
>She gets up from her spot and quietly trots over to Anon.
-
>She watches his chest rise and fall as he sleeps.
-
“Hey big guy…”
-
>Posey didn’t know what to say as Anon licked his lips.
-
“I hope you’re doing okay…”
-
>An urge deep in Posey's gut wants her to get close to Anon.
-
>Getting closer to him, she was about to pucker her lips until backing away.
-
“No… I shouldn’t kiss him. That would betray his trust.”
-
>Posey continues to look at him as lightning lights up Anon’s resting body.
-
“Maybe a hug will do…”
-
>Returning to her venture of getting closer to Anon, she feels her body heat up with an odd sense of warmth.
-
>She wraps her forelegs around Anon’s chest, feeling his furless arms in her hooves and fetlocks.
-
“Sweet Majesty, that feels weird…”
-
>To Posey, Anon’s arms feel less like the fur of a pony, but smooth skin with tiny hairs poking out to prick and brush against her fetlocks.
-
>Even though hugging him feels oddly nice, it wasn’t enough for the tireless pony.
-
>Lifting her head, she looks at Anon’s relaxed facial features.
-
“Maybe one kiss will do…”
-
>She stays there, looking at Anon, unsure on where to kiss him.
-
“Come on Posey, you can do it.”
-
>She closes her eyes and moves her head closer to his.
-
>With one subtle peek, she sees that she’s getting close to Anon’s lips.
-
>Adjusting her direction with post haste, she aims her lips towards Anon’s right cheek.
-
>Her lips press against his cheek as the heat deep in her body rushes up to her cheeks, turning red.
-
>She lifts her lips away from Anon, hurrying to get away to make sure that no one wakes up to see her act.
-
>She looks around as a lightning flash fills the room with its light.
-
“Good…”
-
>She pushes away from the couch, returning her gaze back to Anon.
-
“I love you, you silly chimp…”
-
>Making her way back to her sleeping bag, She gets into place to get into the bag.
-
>She enters her sleeping bag, shuffles into a comfortable position, grabs her teddy, and places her sleeping mask over her eyes.
-
>A small smile emerges on her face as she soon falls asleep.
-
>In a field far away from the coastal bay, Posey looks around in all directions to try to find home.
-
“Where am I?”
-
>She turns around to a big hill and on top of that hill is a jacaranda tree.
-
>Something deep inside beckons her to climb up that hill.
-
>She trots to the edge that begins the incline, unsure whether or not to fulfil that desire to climb it.
-
>Her uncertainty fades away to be replaced with determination.
-
>She begins her trot up that hill.
-
>At first, her determination is full and the journey easy, but at the halfway point of the adventure, determination is replaced with melancholy.
-
>She falls onto the grassy ground with a thud; the only sound ringing out is the wind and her heavy breathing.
-
“I-I can’t do it…”
-
>While in the process of grieving, a faint voice calls her name.
-
>She opens her eyes to find the owner of that voice, but only finds a few jacaranda petals flowing through the wind.
-
>That voice, it stokes the strength for the yellow mare to carry on.
-
>She pushes herself off the ground and continues up that hill.
-
>The second half of the journey is harder as the hill steepens, but she pushes on.
-
>With one final push, she makes it to the top.
-
>After catching her breath, she looks around to see no one, but the tree.
-
>She trots around the tree to see Anon at the edge of the hill before the decline, looking at the view in front of him.
-
>Posey takes a spot next him, noticing that his side’s decline is gradual and gentle.
-
>”Glad to see you here.”
-
“You could’ve told me that your side is less steep.”
-
>”Hmm?”
-
“The one behind… Us…”
-
>Upon turning around, the hill behind her is replaced by a cliff into shallow waters.
-
“Nevermind…”
-
>She turns her head back as the purple petals of the jacaranda tree falls off and lands around the two.
-
>”Are you alright?”
-
>Posey cranes her head up to see Anon, her expression full of sadness and embarrassment.
-
“No…”
-
>”Mind telling me…”
-
>Posey is torn apart from either telling him or not.
-
>She weighs the options: either tell him and get your heart broken or lie to him.
-
“I- I like you, Nonny…”
-
>He stares in silence, uncertainty painting his face.
-
>Posey covers her face with her hooves out of embarrassment.
-
>”I like you too…”
-
>She lifts her head so that her eyes are the only thing to be seen by Anon.
-
“You do?”
-
>”I do, Posey…”
-
>Leaning her body against Anon, she sighs out of relief at the human’s answer.
-
>The two new lovebirds enjoy each other’s presence as the sounds of clattering and chatting are in the distance.
-
>The various sounds become deafening, causing Posey to flutter open.
-
>”Rise and shine, sleepyhead!”
-
>Of course the first voice she has to hear clearly is Pipp’s.
-
>The tired pony lets out a groan as she rises from her spot.
-
>After packing up her bag and tying the strap to her barrel, she trots out the door.
-
>Seeing that Anon is talking to Jazz, she decides it’s now or never to ask him out.
-
>She bites her worry and replaces it with confidence.
-
>Clearing her throat, Anon turns around to the sound.
-
“Anon.”
-
>”Posey.”
-
“Would you like to hang out with me at the movies next Thursday?”
-
>”Sure thing, I got nothing to do that day.”
-
>Posey lets out a blush onto her face, and a smile as Anon helps carry the suitcase down the stairs.
-
“Good, I’ll be at the theater at 2 pm on the dot. Be there or be square.”
-
>After Anon places the suitcase on the ground, Posey trots away with a pep in her step.
-
-
>Epilouge
-
>Days passed from the sleepover, and Pipp is finishing up on Dahlia’s mane.
-
>”Hey Jazz, want to see a photo I snapped during Windy’s sleepover?”
-
>”Sure thing, Pipp!”
-
>Pipp opens up her phone to show Jazz and Dahlia a photo.
-
>On the night vision image is Posey kissing Anon’s cheek.
-
>”ADORABLE!!!”
-
>Dahlia’s feels a cold sweat on her forehead as Jazz coos at the photo.
-
>”PIPP! Delete that!”
-
>”Don’t be a spoilsport, Dahlia, it’s not that Posey’s going to barge in here.”
-
>The front door of Mane Melody opens with the ringing of its bell.
-
“What’s this about me barging in?”
-
>Pipp goes cold as Posey trots in.
-
>”N-Nothing!”
-
“Nothing? Then why are you trying to hide your stupid smartphone? Are you trying to hide something from me?”
-
>”Me? No way!”
-
>Posey looks over at Dahlia, knowing that she always tells the truth.
-
>”She has a photo of you kissing Anon…”
-
>”Dahlia! You snitch!”
-
>Like a nuclear bomb, Posey explodes with anger and gallops for Pipp.
-
>Pipp screams and flies, her phone accidentally slipping from her grasp.
-
>”No, my phone!”
-
>Pipp’s phone falls to the ground with a slap before the crunching of plastic, metal, and glass sounds out by Posey's strong earth pony hoof.
-
>”How am I going to talk to my fans?!”
-
>Posey harrumphs and makes her way out.
-
“Maybe you should get yourself a brick phone and quit that social media nonsense!”
-
>Jazz, who’s been standing there in shock, quickly shouts out.
-
>”Wait! I thought we had a mane and hooficure appointment?!”
-
“Cancelling my appointment and taking my money elsewhere!”
-
>Posey slams the front door behind her so hard that it shakes the whole building.
