Fatelocked: Bone Song — Player Handbook
L.A.S.S. System
The LASS System is a simple dice-roll mechanic used in the CYOA threads I run.
Its purpose is to resolve challenges, skill checks, and random events by combining character attributes with chance.
L.A.S.S. stands for:
- Luck
- Autism
- Skill
- Strength
Each attribute has a level.
That level determines which die you roll (e.g., Level 6 = roll a d6).
World Lore
Fate
In this universe, Fate is real—not a metaphor, not a superstition.
It is:
- Patient
- A path that always reaches its end
- Revealed to you the moment you look into the cursed skull during P.H.E.E.R. initiation
You can delay fate.
You can resist fate.
But you cannot erase fate.
Those who try are hunted by something far worse than spirits.
History
Equestrian history in Fatelocked is vast, fragmented, and often deliberately obscured. Much has been lost to disasters, wars, and forbidden magic.
What survives is mixed with myth, folklore, and censored records.
The timeline is divided into five eras.
Every piece of lore you find belongs to one of them—sometimes clearly, sometimes left for you to work out.
- Pre-History
- Ancient History
- Pre-Unification
- Unification
- Modern Age
CYOA Summary
After the events of the Latchmare Case, Marrow Dirge is promoted to Unit Leader of P.H.E.E.R.’s Unit Y—a unit known for terrible luck, whose former members vanished in the Hayseed Swamp disappearance.
Marrow relocates to a weathered stone cottage on the moors east of Baltimare, a region full of superstition, strange folklore, and half-forgotten ghost stories.
Marrow is currently haunted by a ghost named Doodles, a P.H.E.E.R. operative who died fifty years ago. She isn’t malevolent and does not drain life energy; she is simply unable to move on due to unfinished business.
Only Marrow can see or hear her—though Scout Shadow Murk senses her presence as a shifting shadow.
