Expiry: Never

  1. Capitaine Maxime Sauvageux
  2. Equestria Occupation Forces
  3. Grand Army of Europa-Francia Branch (Armée Française-Armée de Terre)
  4.
  5. >May 14, 2038
  6. >A week after leaving Canterlot, you arrived in the freshly conquered Gildedale.
  7. >After seeing what happened to Equestria, Gildedaleans did not dare attempt to resist a European invasion.
  8. >One quick and bloodless surrender later, an FOB was already established.
  9. >Generaloberst Hoth put you in charge of overseeing the preparations for the journey ahead.
  10. >You were accompanying the German general in a diplomatic mission to the Griffon Kingdoms.
  11. >You thought that they would've sent a politician, a diplomat that specialized in this to do it.
  12. >However, based on previous research, it seems that they would likely only heed the words of a being who's profession is warfare.
  13. >Therefore, they sent an army general.
  14. "Sergeant, are we ready?"
  15. >"Jawol, the men are ready when you are".
  16. "Good, I'll inform the General we are ready to depart".
  17. >You couldn't say that you agreed with the approach the brass was taking with diplomacy.
  18. >It looked like an invasion.
  19.
  20. >Hours later, you found yourselves above the mountains of the Griffon Kingdoms.
  21.
  22. >You and the Germanic giant were sharing an NH90 en route towards the Griffons' biggest city and capital, Gryphus.
  23. >The side door was open, and the cold winds were stinging your face.
  24. >Outside you could see other choppers, troop transports, maybe ten of them...
  25. >Ahead of your craft were five Eurocopter Tigers.
  26. >Flying a few hundred meters above you were a pair of JAS 39 Gripens.
  27. >Funny, Gripen translated into English was "Griffon", they're operating in appropriate territory.
  28. >Looking below, two winged figures were en route towards your aircraft.
  29. "Permission to speak freely, sir?"
  30. >"Granted".
  31. "You don't think this formation seems a bit aggressive for what we're doing?"
  32. >"If you did your homework, you'd know that something like this is what these warlike people respect".
  33. "Monsieur, we have two sentries nearing our helicopter!"
  34. >"I'll speak to them."
  35. >Several others were flying ahead of the formation, each carrying spears or muskets.
  36. >Those first two sentries flew up to the open side door of your chopper.
  37. >You moved aside for the General to see them.
  38. >Seeing this, they were visibly surprised at the size difference between you and your superior officer.
  39. >One of them moves closer.
  40. >"What is your business here, foreigner?"
  41.
  42.
  43.
  44. >"We have come to look for allies and we would like to speak with your leader, any place where we might be able to land?".
  45. >They guided us over to a small open courtyard.
  46. >It wasn't very big, hardly an adequate place to land.
  47. >That's when it finally occurred to everyone...
  48. "Oh, dammit."
  49. >They can fly, so why the hell would they need to build facilities to accommodate aircraft?
  50. >Sure they had places for airships, but those are too few and far between here.
  51. >"Well, there's more than one way out of this thing, lower the lines".
  52. >You had no choice but to rappel down from the choppers.
  53. "Sir, what if negotiations just crumble and we find ourselves fighting these creatures, how will we evacuate?"
  54. >"We'll just need to hold out long enough for reinforcements or evac."
  55. >Brilliant.
  56. >The lines were lowered, you and the other personnel rappelled down to the concrete floor.
  57. >It wasn't exactly ideal for you to do this in a dress uniform, and with your entire kit on your back.
  58. >As soon as you hit the ground, you looked up, only to see the German general's massive ass falling down towards you.
  59. >"Oh fuck no..."
  60. >Jumping and rolling away from the point of impact, the ground shakes a little bit upon his landing.
  61. >There are cracks at where is feet made.
  62. >Never mind dodging a bullet, you just dodged a shell.
  63. >"Sorry, mein kamarade."
  64. >He waved off the helicopter and it disappeared into the thickness of the snowfall.
  65. >Two attack helicopters flew overhead above you and the squad.
  66. "General, they can't stay here forever, we should be rotating their patrols..."
  67. >"I am aware, Kapitän, I am working on it".
  68. >As soon as he was finished speaking to commanders at the FOB you began your five kilometer trek across many stone bridges towards the king's palace.
  69. >More and more soldiers, both yours and the Griffons', would be following you shortly.
  70.
  71.
  72.
  73. >Five kilometers wasn't really that long, but given how cold it was, it felt like walking across all Russia, on the Arctic Circle, starting from Finland, and ending in Alaska.
  74. >Not even the trench coat you were issued made much of a difference up here.
  75. >Finally making it to their king's palace, you and the general start making your way up the concrete stairs.
  76. >Taking a look around, you happened to notice a familiar face among the winged beasts.
  77. >Purple eye-liner, purple highlights, golden yellow eyes...
  78. >You remember her from Cloudsdale, when they refused to surrender she fought alongside them.
  79. >She was an incredibly good fighter, she almost killed you and general Montoir the first time you encountered her.
  80. >You shouldn't have stared at her too long, seems she noticed.
  81. >You could only hope that she didn't recognize you.
  82. >Being happy to finally be inside, you made your way to the nearest fire to warm yourself.
  83. >"Don't be too long captain, I'd like you to be present when we meet the king".
  84. >If it were the French general he would be rushing you, probably not giving you any time to get comfortable.
  85. >Looking back at the entrance, you notice that the griffon you recognized was following her comrades in.
  86. >She looks towards you as she does so.
  87. >You are thinking to yourself...
  88. "Damn, she does recognize me".
  89. >Returning to your commander's side, you are now more than anxious to begin the meeting with their king.
  90. >Anything to get out of sight from that beast.
