"Anon... Your ex is here again."
-
>Looking out the window of your shared house, you see none other than the offending female at the front door.
-
>The human woman who arrived with Anon all those years ago.
-
>The one who broke his heart.
-
>Crushed his spirit.
-
>Robbed him of purpose.
-
>And left you to pick up the pieces when you found him.
-
>Whether she shrunk under your spiteful gaze the one sided window shouldn't have allowed her to see, or whether the expression of uncertainty was the nerves of whatever she was plotting - you didn't know.
-
>You didn't care.
-
>The purpose of her visit was already understood.
-
>Your husband speaks up from deeper inside the dwelling.
-
>"What? Uh, one moment Star. I have my hands full with Luster at the moment."
-
>The countenance of contempt on your face breaks for a moment to appreciate your wonderful husband and beautiful daughter just a couple rooms away.
-
>A family you earned.
-
>One she threw away when it would've only required the most minimal amount of effort to stumble into finding on her part.
-
>And now she comes crawling back.
-
>Again and again.
-
>None too eager to disclose exactly why she had regained a sudden interest in Anon, but you knew.
-
>It didn't take a genius.
-
>Disgust born anew, you elect to handle this yourself.
-
"I'm going to have a word with her."
-
>"Don't do anything rash St- oh no, Luster! Put that down!"
-
>You couldn't hold your mischievous giggle.
-
>Luster is an early talent at magic.
-
>She could be a handful for her father who had no direct affinity.
-
>Or experience or inherent understanding to prepare him on how to handle such things.
-
>That's right Sunshine.
-
>Keep daddy preoccupied.
-
>Mommy has some vermin to chase off.
-
>Opening the front door, neck craned back as is habit when addressing humans - because you live with one, you meet the unannounced visitor in the eyes.
-
>FemAnon looks dumbfounded for a moment to not meet her anticipated target face-to-face before looking down.
-
>The dumb look on her face shifts to startled to see it was you who answered the door.
-
>She saves face by adopting another one of her usual fake smiles.
-
>While it was meant to be ingratiating, the forced nature of it bleeds through since it was directed at you.
-
>Before you could demand the reason for her uninvited presence, she takes the initiative.
-
>"Hello!~"
-
>Grating on your ears was the faux tone of pleasure she bounced the greeting with.
-
>"Ms. Glimmer, is Anon home? Can you get him for me, it's really important."
-
>You quirk an eyebrow, unamused.
-
>Ms. Glimmer?
-
>At one point in time you could have bought that she was simply making a jab at you with the remark devoid of subtlety.
-
>But now?
-
>You've seen enough from her and heard enough that you know it could in fact be a far more pitiful reason behind it.
-
>She may just very well be so delusional as to believe that you're not married to Anon.
-
>With everything Anon has told you about the world he came from, it wasn't unusual for a woman to be so deluded.
-
>As he put it, 'once a woman develops a perception of you, it will never change. So if she thinks of you as a loyal dog eager to return for more abuse, she'll be in disbelief that you could grow a spine and move on from her to someone else you actually deserve.'
-
>Or something like that.
-
>You paraphrased the context around the original statement given the other conversations you've had with him about the subject.
-
>She may just believe that Anon could never have moved on from her and developed his own successful life without her.
-
>In spite of her sabotage.
-
>Her lies.
-
>Or, at least that's what you've gathered from Anon.
-
>He usually took the initiative in deterring her.
-
>Probably because he knew how much you hated her.
-
>And that you could banish her to a fresh kind of hell if you really wanted to.
-
>If she made you mad enough.
-
>She would wander on back around once she realized he moved back into town.
-
>Well, not right away.
-
>Only after she screwed up.
-
>Again and again.
-
>She'd be by every time another one of her fruitless escapades ended in heartbreak.
-
>Just as she deserves.
-
>She had her chance.
-
>And she blew it.
-
>You at least did what you did out of the goodness of your heart.
-
>She doesn't have the capacity for it.
-
>And you were proven right when she blew her opportunity at redemption.
-
>One she didn't even deserve.
-
>Though, this wasn't the first opportunity she didn't deserve that she blew.
-
>Anon took a chance on her and she made his worst nightmares come true in a world he had entered with hopeful optimism and shared opportunity.
-
>Destroyed him for no real reason.
-
>Through no fault of his own.
-
>Yet he still showed her a strained amount of basic decency when he shooed her away.
