Expiry: Never
-
1.
>by the time you all got out it was near dusk
-
2.
>damn no wonder you felt so tired
-
3.
>no food, all that damn standing and possibly getting executed
-
4.
>even applejack was nearly about to pass out
-
5.
>as you board the train with AJ you notice the other 4 standing outside
-
6.
>”yeah, our train comes after yours”
-
7.
>makes sense
-
8.
>both you and AJ wave at them before turning around to go to your seats
-
9.
>applejack doesnt even look at you and passes out immediately on the seat
-
10.
>the train doesn’t depart for another 5 minutes so you just sit and think
-
11.
>but then suddenly and idea hits you
-
12.
>there’s seriously nothing going on anymore
-
13.
>no big wars and stuff
-
14.
>well, besides all the stuff Chryssy talked about
-
15.
>note to self, don’t call her that to her face
-
16.
>but doc quite literally fixed the plague or whatever the hell it was called essentially over night
-
17.
>maybe a little time off could do you some good
-
18.
>the ticket puncher guy comes up to punch your tickets
-
19.
“Here can I borrow that for a second”
-
20.
>you grab the pen out of his front pocket before her could respond
-
21.
>you write ‘be home late - Anon’ on your ticket and slide it between applejack and the seat
-
22.
-
23.
>https://youtu.be/09nSAD0t2lQ?t=5 (boys night out)
-
24.
-
25.
>you bolt out of the train and tap the point like your playing tag
-
26.
>he immediately chases after you leaving shining and cadence with the dumbest looks on their faces
-
27.
>you try to run down the street but your tiredness starts to catch up with you
-
28.
>you slow down to a jog and eventually he tags you back only for the both of you to switch to a walking pace
-
29.
>you and doc walk for a little bit
-
30.
>the sun fully set and now it’s gotten pretty dark out
-
31.
>”we’ve been on our feet all day anon, let’s just find somewhere to sit”
-
32.
>his hushed voice accentuates his fatigue
-
33.
-
34.
>after trying to find a proper bench while walking, you eventually give up and sit against one of the bigger buildings in canterlot
-
35.
>the two of you sit quietly for some time, of course fatigue playing a role, but also due to being at a loss of what the current situation truly is
-
36.
>”guess i’ve got quite a lot of work ahead of me huh…”
-
37.
“Yep…”
-
38.
…
-
39.
>”you think things are gonna blow over and go back to normal soon?”
-
40.
>”I mean, producing those pills is mostly just crushing the stuff and throwing it in pill capsules, supply likely won’t run out even if all of us got ill”
-
41.
>it takes more effort than normal to respond
-
42.
“Yeah… I guess if you’ve got the literal cure and you know you can get it to where it’s needed, sounds like we win, right?”
-
43.
>doc thinks for a while
-
44.
>”besides some economic BS, I think this will blow over too, besides, it’s only one city, by the time we uh”
-
45.
>doc rubs his head
-
46.
>”do the pills ‘n stuff, even if it spreads, we’ll out produce whatever the infection rate is”
-
47.
>”worst case scenario is maybe some ponies will have to eat some other food than their special little imported stuff for a while”
-
48.
>the both of you chuckle at the sheer catastrophe that would be for all those stuck up big wigs who’ve never dealt with mild inconveniences before
-
49.
“Welp, sounds like it’s case closed then i think”
-
50.
>”well not entirely, we still don’t have any information on what’s going on outside our borders”
-
51.
>”If there’s stuff going on in vanhoover after the whole changeling hive got wiped, then it’s likely that the path of infection was east and then south”
-
52.
>you both sit there staring at the stars for awhile
-
53.
-
54.
“You’d think canterlot would have had an outbreak way before vanhoover or even the changelings though”
-
55.
“I remember the cloud went right towards the soldiers when I first saw it”
-
56.
…
-
57.
>”huh, oh yeah, if i remember right, all of us came back to canterlot but when we got here, we set up more on the outskirts of town, so we were essentially quarantine unintentionally, besides, infection was obvious anyways”
-
58.
>”if cadence told your story as accurately as i think she did, then you’ve got some kind of stupid luck, when you got it infected it took a LOT longer for it to develop, probably no source of magic to build off of, seems the main issue with you was just the sheer amount your immune system had to deal with once the disease failed to develop”
-
59.
>you go back to star gazing again for a few minutes
-
60.
>”fuck dude im tired, do you think we missed the last train?”
-
61.
>you’re not sure about the train schedules
-
62.
>but the fact that it’s so late out as well as how long you’ve been sitting out here for, there’s a good chance your stranded for the night
-
63.
“Im sure we did…”
-
64.
…
-
65.
>”wanna go drinking? Neither of us have anything important to do anyways, any treatment distribution plans won’t involve me, even i can’t comprehend taking care of that and the treatments already been put into production, just need to scale it”
-
66.
>”and i’m sure you’re not gonna be doing much shooting anymore, so wadda ya say?”
-
67.
>honestly, you’re beat
-
68.
“Fuck it, but im keeping it light”
-
69.
>but that doesn’t mean you can’t compromise
-
70.
-
71.
>finding bars is easy
-
72.
>if the business has it’s lights still on this late at night, it’s either a hotel or a bar
-
73.
>and bars aren’t nearly as big as hotels
-
74.
>”on me tonight anon, besides, i gotta pay you back for last time”
-
75.
>you both smirk remembering last time
-
76.
>”you know anon, I’ll buy some of that hard cider off of you, that stuff is the best”
-
77.
>you had almost forgotten about borrowing that for a moment
-
78.
“oh, yeah, that cider wasn’t really mine to take, can’t sell it to you without pissing off AJ”
-
79.
>”wait, seriously?”
-
80.
“Yep, hope she doesn’t find out it was us, i should definitely go find those bottles we left behind and hide them somewhere just in case”
-
81.
>doc giggles like an idiot after hearing that
-
82.
>”alright, well next time i’ll just bring some stuff with me then, I don’t really use my salary for much more than buying new equipment”
-
83.
>you and doc just sit at the bar drinking, doc more so than you
-
84.
>”does the stuff chrysalis was sayin’ freak you out at all”
-
85.
>doc’s gettin tipsy at this point
-
86.
>but he brings up a valid point
-
87.
>”that sounds like consciousness dude, like it was talkin’ to her an’ tautin’ her er somethin’, y’know, when it talked about kirin and the uh… other ones that i don’t remember”
-
88.
>shit, that actually sobered you up a lot hearing that
-
89.
>doc lifts his head and notices your shock then set his head back on the table but laying it sideways facing you
-
90.
>”oh calm down bud, that whole smoke-ghost thing has gotta just be it’s method of spreading, if we’ve got the cure then eventually it ain’t gonna have anywhere to go and it’ll pitter out”
-
91.
>”it looks a lot less scary than it really is ‘non, so quit yer bitchin’ an relaaaaaax”
-
92.
>he’s got a good point
-
93.
>chrysalis never mentioned those ghost things being able to interact with the world besides infecting new hosts and turning into clouds that get blown by the wind
-
94.
>infact, it just goes to show how powerless it is if it has to rely on the breeze to move around right?
-
95.
>who knows who cares, cures finished and that disease will be on the decline
-
96.
-
97.
>after awhile of just sipping your drink and doc staring off into the distance, you figure it’s best to leave this place and maybe get a hotel or something
-
98.
>doc already paid for everything so you try to coax him into getting up
-
99.
>he does, albeit in a very uncoordinated fashion
-
100.
-
101.
>he wobbles as he walks, unable to maintain a proper direction
-
102.
“I’m honestly starting to think you have a drinking problem”
-
103.
>he doesn’t even listen as he walks ahead of you aimlessly
-
104.
>you catch up to him a little so hoping he’ll pay attention then
-
105.
“Look dude, we gotta find a hotel or something, it’s really late and I don’t wanna stay up much longer, AJ’s gonna be pissed with me as it is”
-
106.
>he finally notices you talking
-
107.
>”wuh… dude… les jus getta chariot home”
-
108.
>doc’s a cool dude
-
109.
>but a retard when he’s drunk
-
110.
“Assuming we COULD get a chariot, there’s no way in hell you would get back home on a single chariot”
-
111.
“Me on the other hand, maybe, do they even go as far out as ponyville from here?”
-
112.
>he stares straight ahead at you, but more so like he’s looking past you
-
113.
>”jus let me crash at your place anon, I hate hotels anyways…”
-
114.
>he says while trying to maintain balance
-
115.
“Still, how are we gonna get a chariot…”
-
116.
>what little brain power isn’t spent on standing up straight, he tries to use for thinking
-
117.
>”jus ask luna anon, jus go… jus bring me and you to the castle and ask her she’ll do it you’re a special guy ‘n she’ll recognize me so then we can go to your house and i can fuckin’ go to bed already”
-
118.
>fuck it, normally something like this would be embarrassing for you but you REALLY don’t wanna have to carry doc if he passes out
-
119.
>so you just decide to get this over with ASAP
-
120.
-
121.
>after corralling doc back to the castle the guards let you in considering it’s the same guards that saw you leave earlier
-
122.
>thankfully you caught em right before they were about to get off their shift
-
123.
>would have been very hard to convince another set of guards to let someone like you in with some drunk they probably wouldn’t recognize
-
124.
>seriously, there’s gotta be some kind of ID he should carry around as a government official
-
125.
>whatever you just wanna go home
-
126.
-
127.
>you enter the room to find what looks to be celestia and luna talking while guards start to swap places with what looks to be the ‘night shift gaurds’ as far as you’re aware
-
128.
>when you walk in you notice doc tries his hardest to maintain some level of decency
-
129.
>though his balance is still not very great
-
130.
>the first to notice you was Luna, she seemed well rested, unlike celestia who looked half dead
-
131.
>can’t blame her, today was fucked
-
132.
>celestia turned towards the pair of you
-
133.
>”Well, didn’t expect to see you again”
-
134.
>she said with a tired face, trying to maintain formality
-
135.
>”hm, is this the anonymous you were speaking of?”
-
136.
>celestia nods trying to save every ounce of energy she can
-
137.
>”well, I have MUCH that I wish to discuss with you, but being back so soon can only mean you’re in need of some kind of assistance...”
-
138.
>celestia looks at doc
-
139.
>”...I would imagine…”
-
140.
>fatigue superseeds formality for you
-
141.
“Hey, doc was talking about chariots, do you think you could get us one to ponyville?”
-
142.
>before celestia opens her mouth luna speaks ahead of her
-
143.
>”I believe i can handle this dear sister, go now, you’ve had a long day after all”
-
144.
>celestia seemingly loosens up and goes straight to her chambers
-
145.
>”now, I believe i can arrange this for you, though i must ask, did you miss the train perhaps?”
-
146.
>doc has gone non-verbal, best to wrap this up
-
147.
“Long story short, me and doc went to a bar, talked about stuff and came back too late for the trains”
-
148.
>luna puts a hoof over her mouth and giggles
-
149.
>”I can tell that as much”
-
150.
>”fear not, transportation will be provided, just give us a few moments as chariots at such an hour is quite unorthodox, so we must pull one out of storage”
-
151.
-
152.
>in your tired state you’re pretty sure you took a nap the moment you blinked because once you opened your eyes again the chariot was outside
-
153.
>words didn’t need to be exchanged, you simply pulled doc and yourself up on there and they set off to ponyville
-
154.
-
155.
>once again, you fell asleep quickly enough that time flew by and you were back home before you knew it
-
156.
>you gave the thestrals a weak thank you before dragging yourself and doc to the front door
-
157.
>considering his state, even the floor would have been good enough for him
-
158.
>but no matter how tempting it was to go upstairs as quickly as you could, you had enough heart to throw him on the couch at least
-
159.
>you journey up the stairs and simply roll onto the mattress without even attempting to get under the covers
-
160.
-
161.
