Dorkbow Dash Gets Big

“It just really pisses me off, you know? Derpy can't see for squat, why does she even fly?” Rainbow Dash angrily threw her arms up in the air and fluttered her wings in annoyance, grunting in pain as her broken wing tried to flex against her sturdy cast.

 

“Well, she is a pegasus. It's in her nature to fly” Twilight Sparkle replied. It was clear from Rainbow Dash's expression that she was not interested in a debate.

 

Twilight Sparkle did her best to return to her studies, yet found herself distracted again and again by Rainbow's heavy sighs and pleas for attention. Rainbow Dash was a full head shorter than Twilight, but she was still hard to ignore.

 

“You know what, I'll have a chat with her this week. Just to make sure she's more careful in the future” Twilight Sparkle put on her diplomatic smile. Rainbow Dash grumbled, but seemed pacified.

 

A moment of silence passed. “Rainbow Dash, as much as I love spending time with you, I do have some magic research I need to get back to. Was there something specific you wanted to see me about? If not I'm going to have to get back to work.”

 

Rainbow Dash put her hand on the back of her head, and with a nervous smile said “Do you happen to have any healing magic? I really don't want to be in this cast for very long. It's hard to even get a shirt on with this setup.”

 

“No can do. Nurse Redheart knows more healing magic than I do, so there's nothing I can do that she hasn't already done” Rainbow Dash's shoulders slumped upon hearing Twilight's news. She sat down at the table and laid her head on a thick book. “But if there is anything else I can do for you, don't hesitate to ask. I'd love to help a friend!”

 

Rainbow Dash looked up nervously at Twilight. “It's just that my whole passion is flying, and if that's gone, what am I going to do? I can do some reading, but not for weeks on end. I can always hit the gym, but I'll go crazy if all I do is pump up my biceps all day. I've got to find something to else. I'd always race against the other pegasi in the sky, but how am I suppose to show I'm number one now? The Iron Pony competition isn't in months.”

 

“Hmm...” Twilight stroked her chin “well, Celestia gave you more than a pair of wings. If you can't compete with brawn, how about you compete with brains?” Rainbow Dash gave Twilight a perplexed look. “Have you ever been to Paizo's?”

 

“You mean that game shop where all those nerds hang out? Are you seriously suggesting I go there?” Rainbow Dash sat up as she almost laughed.

 

“You said you wanted competition, and I've seen some heated card games there. You might learn a new hobby. Plus, it's not like you have too many options”.

 

Rainbow Dash sighed. “Yeah, I guess you're right. But if I go there, I'll stand out like a sore thumb! I'm a lean mean fighting machine, and those guys will either be fat or skinny as a rail. Plus, I'm terrible at those kind of games. I'd never win.”

 

“Oh Rainbow Dash! I wouldn't sell yourself so short. I'm sure you'll do fine” Twilight Sparkle put her hand on Rainbow Dash's shoulder, but her words and gestures seemed to have little effect on Rainbow Dash.

 

“Maybe Rarity can make a disguise for me? And maybe you could teach me?” A glimmer of hope appeared in Rainbow Dash's eyes as she begged Twilight.

 

“I don't know Dash, I am pretty busy with my magical research, and Rarity's not exactly known for having tight lips”.

 

There was a moment of dejected silence before Twilight's eyes lit up.

 

“Wait a second... that's it!” A broad smile appeared on Twilight's face. “What we need is a transformation spell, and I know just the one for you!”

 

“Really?” Rainbow Dash perked up.

 

“I've recently reading The Lesser Known spells of Starlight the Great. It's a fantastic read, and there's one spell that I think would do the trick. It's a pretty strong spell and lasts indefinitely, so you wouldn't have to worry about anyone finding you out.”

 

“That sounds awesome!”

 

“Wonderful!” Twilight's wings fluttered in joy “The spell isn't used often, so this will be an excellent way to study it. Learn by doing right?”

 

“Wait, you haven't done this spell before?” Rainbow Dash's smile began to diminish.

 

“Erm... no, but this is Starlight the Great we're talking about. His work is legendary. I'm sure there won't be any issues. At all.” Twilight tried to put on an honest face.

 

“Alright, if you say so”

 

“Fantastic! I'll start getting prepared. It's a pretty complicated spell, so it'll take about a day to set up. Come back tomorrow and I'll have it all set up. Oh, this is so exciting!”

Twilight was drawing the necessary shapes and symbols for the spell she would soon cast on Rainbow Dash. Looking at Starlight's fifth transformation spell more closely, Twilight realized just how little anyone knew about the spell. There were plenty of variables, and little information about each one. There was plenty of room for error, and Twilight didn't know what would happen if things went wrong. What she did know is that if you put on a big smile and acted like you knew what you were doing, you could get away with just about anything. Right?

 

Just as the last few shapes were marked down on the ground, Rainbow Dash entered the magical laboratory.

 

Rainbow Dash had never felt comfortable in Twilight's laboratory. It was always so dark and dank. It almost felt unnatural. But Twilight didn't seem to mind, as she buzzed about putting the finishing touches on the setup for the spell.

 

“So walk me through this again? I didn't realize this spell was so involved” Rainbow Dash glanced nervously as she walked down the stairs into the main testing area. There appeared to be an assortment of nerd-related items placed in a large circle.

 

“Starlight's Fifth Transformation spell is pretty flexible, allowing you to change a lot of different aspects of who you are as a person. Your personality, your physical appearance, there's a whole slew of different variables.” Twilight spoke quickly as she scanned the magical markings on the floor. “This requires everything to be very precise and the use of several items only a someone like a princess could have access to. Even then, there have been a few records of some... side effects” Rainbow Dash's expression shifted from uncertainty to concern “Oh, but don't worry about it! It's all very safe, and the side effects are minor. The biggest issue would be if we were trying to be really specific, but since it's a general disguise, there's a much lower chance that anything will go wrong.” Twilight's tried to put on the most reassuring smile she could.

 

“If you say so.” Rainbow Dash still looked uneasy. “So what are we planning on changing? This sounds like it could be a pretty serious shift. I don't want to be a totally different person”.

 

“Oh, nothing drastic.” Twilight waved a dismissive hand. “You'll probably be a little more interested in Nerd-related hobbies, such as card games and board games, and have an easier time learning how to be good at them. Physically, I'll be giving you some freckles, your hair will be a little longer, and making a few changes to your height and musculature. You might be tall enough to ride a roller coaster!" Rainbow Dash scowled at Twilight's joke. " Those are all the changes, really. I didn't want to shift around too much, as huge changes are more likely to go wrong, but you're still the same person, more or less.”

 

“Yeah, it's the more or less I'm worried about”

 

“Oh don't be. After a few days, you won't even notice the differences.” Twilight was trying her best to make sure Rainbow Dash would go through with this. Twilight really wanted to perform this spell on a willing subject, even if it was someone as uncertain as Rainbow Dash. “Plus, you have to remember the goal! We're going to make you into a real competitor. You're going to be number one again!”

 

“Yeah...yeah, OK, let's do this.” A smile crept onto Dash's face.

 

“Well then, let's get started! Rainbow Dash, I need you to stand right there in the center... great. Now you just need to stay still while I start the incantation”. Twilight took out a large musty tome and began to chant strange words Rainbow Dash didn't understand.

 

“joH Ha'DIbaH bIghHa' 'ej plea Qoy, nuq wIlegh wIQaw'laH DayaHmoH maH” Twilight's eyes glowed as the markings on the floor began to glow, and the various objects on the ground began to float.

 

“Sargh lom 'ej yab lu' wIQaw'laH, chenchoH vIH SoH” Suddenly a giant bright circle appeared above Rainbow Dash before she was engulfed in a blinding light.

As Rainbow Dash came to, she found herself still standing, if a little dizzy. As she began to regain her senses, she began to notice a few differences. For one, it was difficult to see Twilight Sparkle, even though she was in plain view only three or four yards away. Twilight Sparkle also appeared to have shrunk a bit. Rainbow Dash was also feeling awfully heavy. Maybe she was tired? But as she looked down, she realized that the extra weight she was feeling came from her body. Rainbow Dash was huge.

 

Before, Rainbow Dash's chest was pretty flat. However, her transformation had caused her breasts to swell until each were larger than her own head. Her neck had become thick, and she had developed a second chin. Beyond her chest was her stomach; even with her enormous breasts she could still see her gut both cresting out in front of her and pressing against her thighs. Any signs of her belly button, however, were hidden behind the curve of her belly. Rainbow Dash took a look at her meaty arms. Each was wider around than a football. Even her shoulders had changed from sharp angles to a rolling curve. The clothes that once draped Rainbow Dash's body were now laying in tatters, and Rainbow Dash was as naked as the day she was born. It was difficult to see what other changes had occurred, as Rainbow Dash's massive body was blocking her ability to see her lower half, but Rainbow Dash had seen enough to know that she was pissed.

 

“What did you do?” Rainbow Dash stormed over to a shocked Twilight Sparkle, her stomach slapping against her thighs. Twilight was still gaining her composure after seeing the results of Rainbow Dash's transformation. “Answer me!” Rainbow Dash grabbed the princess and lifted her an inch or two off the ground.

 

“W-w-well, you see, Starlight's fifth transformation spell c-c-causes Gygax, one of the Great Makers, t-t-to be summoned. He then changes the subject b-b-based on the specifications indicated by the magical marks put down” Rainbow Dash's shadow loomed over Twilight Sparkle, who now felt like a very small alicorn princess. “I must not have been specific enough with my specifications about your weight. I didn't even mention any changes in your body fat, but obviously Gygax took that as permission to do as he pleased. It's quite fascinating actually” Rainbow Dash gave Twilight a shake “If this wasn't happening to my friend of course”.

 

“So can you change me back?” Rainbow Dash's grip tightened and her eyes were wild.

 

“Unfortunately you have to explicitly state why you're summoning Gygax, and since he knows it's to hide an injury, we can't summon him again until the injury is healed. To do so would be to reject the transformation we asked from him, which would be a faux pas that could lead him to turn you into something worse” Rainbow Dash let Twilight Sparkle down as despair came across her face. “I'm sorry Rainbow Dash, but until your wing heals, there's nothing I can really do”.

 

For a minute, Rainbow Dash and Twilight just stood there. “If it's any consolation, this incident will be immensely helpful in warning other magic-users in the future about using this spell. Even with how rarely used it's been, I'm still surprised no one else has made mention of this issue”.

 

“Don't try to turn this into a positive” If Rainbow Dash's words didn't silence Twilight, her icy stare certainly did.

 

Yet more silence, until finally Rainbow Dash tried to sit down on the ground. Unfortunately, she was still adjusting to her weight, so she more of fell on her vast behind than sit straight down. Twilight could feel the vibrations that emitted from the impact. It sent waves through the massive mare's fat, adding one more reminder to her size, causing Dash's eyes to mist up. Before her spirits could sink any lower, a terrible rumbling filled the laboratory.

 

Rainbow Dash quietly stated “I'm hungry”.
