  23. >”Magic is something not all unicorns can master, did you know? Some can barely levitate anything or can’t use the luminate spell. There are a poor few unicorns in rare cases that can’t use magic at all! More often than not, the reason they have problems is because their perception of magic and the way they concentrate. You see, the expression ‘mana pool’ came from the old adage to aid magic-users with their casting. You’re supposed to imagine your mana like a pool, or a calm lake that you can draw from. As you gain experience and increase your power, you take cup fulls at a time, then gallons, and all the while the lake will gradually expand into an ocean where you’re taking entire lakefuls! It’s an interesting concept, but it’s helped me quite a lot. Try imagining whenever you’re casting a spell, that you’re taking it from your mana pool.”

  40. >”Everything you learn about your mana or magic in general affects the way you perceive your spells and your entire magical experience. What you reap is what you sow when it comes to the ethereal plane. Take, for example, your magic. You have a very small mana pool, below-average of a normal unicorn’s, but your output is staggering when it comes to combat. The amount of magic you use when you fire that big cannon of yours, that Giga Buster? Any other Unicorn only needs that much to levitate less than a hundred pounds for just a few seconds. This applies with your combat only, however. I’ve noticed that the blessing you’ve learned takes nearly half of your pool in one shot, but it’s meant to help others instead of being combat oriented, and it’s all because of what you’ve learned. Let me teach you about some other forms of magic to help alleviate this problem, but it might take some work.”

Sure I learned a lot of spells from ancient texts and scriptures, but most of my magical foundation was from her. One of the things that she taught me is that no magic should ever be underestimated, no matter what kind it is. There’s a lot of different magics that I can teach you, but there’s hundreds of more schools that I don’t know that are lost in history, or too unstable to be used. I’m going to teach you a few of the deeper meanings of the schools of magic that I’ve learned, and let you use the knowledge the way you feel is best.”

  110. >”You’re aware of the way that magic is inherently present throughout the world? How you can subtly sense magical signals from every living being and even the air itself? There’s an innate sensitivity within your very core that all of us share, and it’s something that Princess Celestia taught me right before sending me to ponyville. Magic itself is an ethereal manifestation of emotions throughout the world, and positive emotions create more potent magic than negative ones. If you ever wonder why the Elements of Harmony or the magic of friendship is so much stronger than everything else, just keep that in mind. I’m going to do my best to help you think positively whenever you’re casting a spell so you can benefit from their full strength.”

  134. “No, that’s okay. I didn’t know my brain could hurt this much… D’you mind if we take a short break, maybe check up on our friends and see how they’re doing?”
  135. >Twilight blinks and stops taking her notes on your progress, nodding.
  136. >”Oh, of course. Sorry, I guess I got a bit carried away. Wow, we haven’t seen anyone else all day? … It’s 6:30?! We’ve been working for 11 hours!”
  137. >Holy shit.
  138. >You saw a few of your group members pass through the hall a few times, but you have no idea about their progress with their own training, or if they even found anybody to train them.
  139. >You go over to one of the more empty tables and start discarding your previously read books on it like you planned to do before.
  140. [Removed Med. Pamphlet (First Aid 101/Procreation), Med. Book (Diseases), Book of Dark Magic, Engineering Book (Practical), and Medical Expertise Books (Bleeding, clots, nasty gashes; stitches and poison treating) from inventory.]
  141. >You feel a bit lighter after taking out those books, and you’re sure the library would like to have them.
  142. >Used (Tome) Teleport
  143. [YOU HAVE LEARNED TELEPORTATION (-20 MP, Allows small distances to be traveled instantly. In Combat: couple with another attack for x3 damage, 5 turn CD)]
  144. >You look over at Twilight and see she’s already writing another letter to Celestia.
  145. >That reminds you.
  146. “Hey, Twilight?”
  147. >”Hm…?”
  148. “Did you get that letter yet? It could hold the key for stopping that magical disease.”
  149. >”I’m sorry Anon, it’s not here yet. It’ll probably be here tomorrow though, so if you’re not staying again, stop by and check, alright?”
  150. “Okay. Oh, and can you tell me anything about this?”
  151. >You scrounge out your Enchanter’s Rune and show it to Twilight.
  152. >She levitates it out of your hands and examines it, the recognition crossing her face instantly.
  153. >”Oh, it’s an Enchanter’s Rune! This is the central tool that all enchanter’s use when they’re modifying anything. They’re used up for every enchantment, so if you bring this to somepony with magical experience, this’ll probably knock off the price a lot, or at the very least let them give you more powerful enchantments.”
  154. >That’s very useful…
  155. “Good to know, thanks for checking it out. Also…”
  156. >She throws it back to you, and you bow to her all of a sudden.
  157. “Thank you, teacher. I’m glad I could be your student and learn what you’ve come to offer.”
  158. >Twilight’s ears flatten and her cheeks flush with red.
  159. >”Oh, that’s okay, really. You don’t have to bow like that, it’s really embarrassing.”
  160. >She’s definitely hiding that she sort of liked that, however miniscule.
  161. >It is now 6:40 P.M.
  162. >What would you like to do?
  163.
  164. >Read Starswirl’s Notes: Healing
  165.
  166. [You look over the notes and see very scratchy, precise movements, the quill bored so deeply into the paper that there are tears in certain spots. X’s indicate smudges or burns.]
  167.
  168. >”Friday, X0X3 of May 12, Age X
  169. It’s been fourteen fortnights and I still haven’t found my underwear! Where could it have gone? Making a mental note here before my experiment to check the Tamriel universe for spare underwear and to replace the Mask of the Dragon Aspect.
  170.
  171. XXX XXXXX XX
  172.
  173. Restoration seems to elude Unicornian magic like the plague. I’ve found many alterXXtives through alchemy and enchantments, but straight healing is even more difficult than time travel and dimension hopping. It’s easy to make a hole, but rearranging the elementary particles of the physical universe by the billions to chXge the state of a life force to be stronger isn’t an exemplary field-- I find it quite impossible from my iniXXal tests.
  174.
  175. Reporting back, I’ve found that XX XXXXXXX XXXX but only if you focus on the soul’s omicron, but you need the sigma field to be stable in order to process the spell correctly. Keep in Xind that electrons don’t respond well to magical manipulation due to the Equestrian Emotion-Magic ParticXXe, so keep abroad the positive energy that will exXXe if not handled carefully. Repeat-- If you don’t focus on bringing down the positive energy, the spell will explode before you get to blink!
  176.
  177. I’ve found an interesting discovery. When you use a blessing that recombobulates the life energy of a living being to State Upsilon 432-Statro. 1, you’ll find that there are a series of quantum tunneling effects that begin to remove the up, top and charm quarks straight out of their respeXXve atoms and sending them back a prediXitioned time directly pXopoXional to the amount of energy put in, same as Newtrot’s laws sound and simple, but here’s the kicker: Fourty thousand newtrot units of magical force is required to even perform a single second’s worth of reversal - making healing in the practical sense nonexistent due to the sheer amount of power. Why, a portal back to the stone ages takes less mana than that! A single second…
  178.
  179. XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX
  180.
  181. I’ve found it. I’ve found the perfect incantation for the hiXest form of efficient healing, perXrmable by myself and a unicorn or magicXder of a strength of greater than 5,000 newtrots. Dear me, if someone lost in time ever finds these notes, look for my wand, as it holds the key to unlocking this charm.

  187. [End Notes]
  188. >…
  189.
  190. >You feel an overpowering magical signature from the charm, but you have no way of actually reading it, and it won’t absorb into your vision like the other scroll.
  191. >You immediately walk back over to Twilight.
  192. “Hey, look at this.”
  193. >You open and rub out the scroll for her to see, and she reads over it in a quarter of the time you did, focusing on the charm that lies there.
  194. >”Oh… It’s… Hmm…”
  195. >She scratches her chin with her hoof, eyes darting across the above notes.
  196. >”Well, my magical rating is about 4,700 newtrots, so I couldn’t even perform the charm to see if it works, but I believe you need Starswirl’s wand to unlock it.”
  197. “What’s my magical rating?”
  198. >Twilight clears her throat.
  199. >“..th..”
  200. “You can tell me, don’t get all Flutters on me.”
  201. >”403.”
  202. >…Fuck.
  203. “Well, in any case, I saw it at Fortuna Potions.”
  204. >She looks up at you, and her expression suddenly lights up.
  205. >”Oh, that’s right! Sunwhirl found it during an expedition through the Cave of Maretonia! If you can get it from him, and raise your magical power enough, you might be the first living thing in the new age to learn healing magic. Of course, I’ll want to learn it to, and I definitely want to give this to Celestia, Luna and Cadance, I mean just think of the implications of this, Anon! Oh, I never knew Starswirl kept his notes here in the Library of the Crystal Empire! When did he visit here? I need to find out!”
  206. >Twilight suddenly runs off, leaving you with Starswirl’s notes.
  207. >You roll the notes back up carefully and you leave the Main Hall, going through the palace until you find some patrolling guards.
  208. “Excuse me guys, but do you know where I can find Applejack and Pinkie Pie? Hat and pink?”
  209. >The stallion turns around and directs you just like before.
  210. >”The pink one’s with the uh… annoying blue pegasus, somewhere outside, and the one with the hat is in the guard’s quarters, smashing out target dummies to death.”
  211. “Thanks.”
  212. >They’re separated just as you thought, so you’d have to pick one to go to first.
  213. >What would you like to do?
  214.
  215. >You straighten up your gear and head out to the Guard’s Quarters.
  216. >As you approach the right room that you were directed to, you start feeling subtle, periodic vibrations in the crystal floor beneath you.
  217. >You walk into the same hallway as the door, and now the vibrations are becoming more like earthquakes.
  218. >Once you get into arm’s reach of the door, that’s when you know the cause of said earthquakes.
  219. >You open the door, and just as your vision enters the room, an orange mare suddenly slams a big crystal hammer crackling with pure, raw voice, and a target dummy getting completely erased from existence.
  220. >As well as cracking the entire wall behind it.
  221. >The guards are fearful of their lives, cowering in the corner and trying to compose themselves by playing cards, but the second AJ delivers the blow, their cards are blown back all over the place.
  222. >AJ wipes sweat off of her brow, and looks back to assess any damage, but instead sees you.
  223. >”Oh, howdy Anon. Trainin’ goin’ good?”
  224. “…You… You’re uh…”
  225. >”Sweet, huh? This here sugarcube is what a real workin’ pony can do wit’ her time if you give her the righ’ tools. I’m usin’ mah own voice to make this thing go real fast, wanna see?”
  226. “I already saw… That’s amazing.”
  227. >She smiles underneath the mask, leaning on the handle of her hammer and checking her hoof like it was no big deal.
  228. >It gives you a strong memory of Dash.
  229. >”Ah know you told us to train, so we’re all trainin’. Well, except Berry and Iron.”
  230. “Wait, what?”
  231. >”Yeah, we tried to get ‘em out of bed, but they complained that there weren’t no guards here that knew anything about unarmed combat, so they decided to, uh, ‘sleep in’.”
  232. “But you’re here training by yourself, too.”
  233. >”That’s cause I needed to mess with this here mask!”
  234. “Ah.”
  235. >“By the way, I talked to Red about your little fun las’ night.”
  236. “…Oh no.”
  237. >”Oooh yeah. Just a little tip for ya: Don’t clench.”
  238. >She chuckles as you stare dumbfounded, and revs up her hammer.
  239. >Now AJ’s swinging that huge thing like it’s a piece of paper.
  240. >”I’ma get back to it. Have fun, Anon.”
  241. “Y-yeah.”
  242. >”Oh, and..”
  243. >She looks at you with intense eyes and a solid tip of the hat.
  244. >”Thanks for checkin’ up on me. Really helps the morale that you’re still thinkin’ of us, ya know?”
  245. “Of course.”
  246. [APPLEJACK HAS GAINED +5 BASE PA!]
  247. [APPLEJACK HAS LEARNED STRATUS SWING! (R, +100 PA, +20 MA, ½ chance to crit for x3, 7 turn CD)]
  248. >Applejack is now busy training.
  249. >What would you like to do?
  250.
  251. >You leave the quarters and find a distance away from it not being vibrated by the constant attacks of Applejack’s mighty swings.
  252. >You need to make some good time with an idea that you just acquired, and for that you have to have peace and quiet.
  253. >When you’re in one of the many halls of the Palace, no patrolling guards or pounding hammers, you sit down cross-legged and wrap your hand together.
  254. >With a resolve to train on your own, you close your eyes, take a deep breath, and begin feeling the magic within you.
  255. >Your markings begin to glow from underneath your armor, a soft white glow beginning to wave out of your outline.
  256.
  257. [MEDITATING . . .]
  258. [You focus on positive thoughts. The love of your life, Redheart, crosses through your mind. All the friends you’ve made through these last few weeks warm your heart, and heat your mana. When you meditate with these thoughts, you feel much more powerful than you usually do.]
  259.
  260. [MEDITATING . . .]
  261. [You then switch your mind’s focus to that of negativity. The haziness of your memories and the frustration that comes from it reveals its power as you feel your mana beginning to bubble away. The shadow, the pain and suffering it’s caused, the death that has happened because of it, and yourself, brings your mana pool to a stagnant state.]
  262.
  263. [MEDITATING . . .]
  264. [Finally, you erase your entire mind off all thought and conscious effort. Your mana begins flowing normally, coursing through your body at a steady state. However, as you keep your mind blank, emotions completely neutral, you feel an odd, tingling sensation. As you focus on the mana itself, the flow and waveform nature of your mana starts to quicken, boiling in an unstable state and becoming more chaotic. Soon, it becomes so fast, flowing through your body that you can physically feel the power within you, and you realize that your magic is easily ten times stronger and larger than it was before, and quickly rising. 267.
  268. >You gasp from the enriching experience of what you’ve just performed.
  269. >The state of nirvana you experienced with no emotions didn’t help with what you were trying to achieve, but boy if you didn’t stumble upon something completely new.
  270. >You’ll need to work on that more, because you feel like you were close to something like a vision in your dreams that you wake up right before you open that door.
  271. >You stand up and realize that you were meditating for a solid hour.
  272. >It is now 8:00 P.M.
  273. >You’re pretty sure you want to go find Pinkie.
  274. >What would you like to do?
  275.
  276.
  277. >You take off out of the hallway, and make your way out back to the Main Hall.
  278. >From there, you walk out of the Crystal Palace and nod at the guards standing at attention.
  279. >You begin looking around at the wide, flat area under the palace and around it, but you can’t seem to find Pinkie or Rainbow Dash anywhere.
  280. >You look for around ten minutes before realizing they’re not here in the slightest.
  281. >You go back to the guards standing guard.
  282. “Hey, have you guys seen a pink pony and a blue pegasus around here?”
  283. >They both nod.
  284. >”They were out here training for quite a while, but they just recently left the Palace.”
  285. “Do you know where they went?”
  286. >”They went south, but we don’t know where.”
  287. “Alright, thank you.”
  288. >South is in the direction of the stores.
  289. >What would you like to do?
  290.
  291.
  292.
  293.
  294. >Well, while you’re out and looking for those two, you might as well go do what Twilight tasked from what Starswirl’s notes said.
  295. >You begin the long trip down to Fortuna Potions, but then a thought crosses your mind.
  296. >All of this time today has been spent training your magic, but what have you done for your body?
  297. >Even with the armor, all you’ve managed to do is get a bit of muscle.
  298. >That’s not real exercise, no matter which way you swing it.
  299. >So you tap your boots on the ground, make sure they’re nice and tight, and you start alternating hops a little to get the blood flowing.
  300. >Ponies are already staring at you from the sidewalks.
  301. >They already stare at you anyways, so what’s the difference?
  302. >You take off from the road, setting your pace at a brisk run, just past the point of jogging.
  303. >You’re instantly regretting this decision with all of this armor on.
  304. >Hey, no pain no gain, right?
  305. >Jeez, you’re starting to sound like Iron Will.
  306. >You keep thinking all of these different thoughts as you race down the streets of the Empire, but what you experienced before comes rushing back to the forethought of your mind.
  307. >Positive and negative thoughts controlled your mana to a clear point… but no emotion at all was nothing short of bizarre.
  308. >You remember being very close to something you’ve never felt before, but you got sidetracked.
  309. >Maybe if you can reach that point without having to have quiet, peaceful meditation, you could use it to your advantage.
  310. >You focus on a single point in front of you as you run, attempting to clear your mind of all thoughts…
  311. >…
  312. >You arrive at Fortuna Potions a few minutes later.
  313. >Clearing your mind didn’t work one bit.
  314. >Now that you think about it, it was probably because you decided to do so much while attempting it again.
  315. >Running down a road with endgoals and wheezing your lungs out wasn’t exactly a good way to leap forward.
  316. >Either way, you enter Fortuna Potions in a daze, sweating and coughing your respiratory system into dangerous arrest as you walk into the door.
  317. >As you approach the counter, Sunwhirl reveals himself from the backroom to see what the ruckus is about.
  318. >”Goodness me, are you alright?”
  319. “…Hhhh… yeah… fine…”
  320. >He allows you a minute to gather your bearings and lower your heart rate before you look up and speak to him again.
  321. “I’m looking for Starswirl’s wand.”
  322. >He blinks, not quite registering what you said.
  323. >”S-starswirl’s… Oh! Well, if you have the bits, then I’ll gladly allow someone with your reputation to part with my most prized possession… take a look at my wares, child, and see what else you’d might like, hm?”

  432. >”Meditation is not something that can be done ‘on the go’, doctor. If you are seeking to clear your chi, free your mana to better use it like many do with meditation, you must completely focus on it. That means no moving, in most cases. If you’re very desperate for extra strength or are simply too busy, I would consider using a staff or wand instead of that brutish spear you carry around.”
  433. ”Okay. One more thing, can you tell me what this is?”

  542. >Sunwhirl seems to light up at your interest.
  543. >”I was working out at the Caves of Maretonia a few months ago during a little expedition I had agreed upon attending with the illustrious Marrow Love, one of the most renowned archaeologists in Equestria. She brought me along because of my expertise in long lost ancient magical artifacts, and one day I was exploring a tomb in the caves that we stumbled upon, and ‘lo and behold, I find Starswirl the Bearded’s wand, sitting there in the ancient altar’s rest! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it, and with it were his complete works in all non-unicornian magic! Oh, but in my rush trying to get away from that blasted inter-dimensional monster that was summoned when I took it, I lost all of those notes, and thieves plundered the tomb the next day! Oh… What I would give to get his notes back… but, oh well. The past is in the past.”
  544. “Wait, you found all of his notes?”
  545. >”Yes, his complete works as I said. Oh, there was seven topics, what were they… Portals, Discordian magic, Black magic, Time Travel, Dimension-Hopping, Healing, and oh yes, Immortality. I haven’t been able to find them since that day.”
  546. >What should you say?
  547.
  548.
  549. “Wait a second. This monster you came across, did it have a shadowy, black quality to it? Actually, let me write this down, and tell me everything about it. Then tell me about the thieves, anything you got on them.”
  550. >He raises an eyebrow.
  551. >”Do you mean you want to help me with this?”
  552. “I’d like to see if everything checks out, but maybe.”
  553. >You get a quill and parchment from his counter, ready to write.
  554. >He clears his throat, and his horn begins to shine as he begins sketching something on some parchment he pulls out.
  555. >”Well, I’ll give you what I know… The monster that was summoned seemed to be on a pressure-triggered rune that opened a portal into a different dimension when I picked up the wand. It was… big. Very big. Nearly seventy feet tall, if I estimated correctly. There wasn’t any shadowy quality, but it looked something like this…”
  556. >He finishes sketching the drawing, and his horn begins to glow multiple colors, each color latching off and striking the page in different spots.
  557. >Then, he holds it up to you, a highly-detailed portrait of what he saw.
  558. “…You made that pretty quickly.”
  559. >”Well, I started out as an art major, but don’t tell any of my colleagues that. As for the thieves, I never got to see them in the act, but before I came back to the caves the next day, I did see a pegasus wearing black robes with a hood enshrouding their whole form, and they had an amulet around their neck… It was the rune for ‘Freedom’, and looked like this.
  560. >On the back of the page he shows you, he quickly sketches the rune, and you memorize it.
  561. >”Keep that paper, I suppose. Now, why are you so interested?”
  562. “Well, I actually have come across on his notes on healing.”

  568. >You smile as you remove the two notes from your bag.
  569. “I was looking for the healing notes as I was looking for a lead on anything healing magic, being a doctor and all. I actually came here to get the wand from you so I could unlock this charm on it. Do you want to make a copy?”
  570. >”..W-well, to be fair, I found them first, so if you’d be so kind, you could get your charms off these two and maybe give the originals back to me? Wise Anonymous, if you were to find all seven notes for me, I would pay you more than handsomely!”
  571. “Handsomely?”
  572. >”I have more than you think. Expeditions pay a surprising amount when you discover an artifact lost for millenia.”

  621.
  622. To any who might read this besides myself, I’ve recently received a visit from my future self explicitly stating for me to write my findings on portals as I work with them to better the future of ponykind, but then he stole my underwear! I’ll have to go find a new pair after I get done with this experiment. I feel as if I have many discoveries ahead of me if I get my drawers stolen by my own future before my very first Graduate experiment, but we will see what happens.
  623.

  626. Primordial energies are not fluxuating as they sXd be when I cast a teleportation spell that is not transporting me. I spoke with my mentor on why the mana wouldn’t split between its ethereal and physical forms, and he tells me that Unicornian magic is designed to mXlate the physical world more than any other kind, making teleporXon outside of its inXended decision likely improbable. Delving further into this later.
  627.
  628. Reporting back in, I’ve just made a fantastic discovery! Luck has it that when you cast a telepXion spell on yourself, it’s not just erasing you from one pXtion and placing you into the next, but likely it is the universe itself that is being rewritten in every aspect being the exact same except for your quantum signature being implaXed in a different time of space with a different string vibXtion so you appear whatever distance you detXed the spell to be. With this breakthrough, If teleportation rewrites the univX and not yourself, then the universe itself is malleable, changeable to our whim! This opens up a whole new world of posXilities for magic, and could very well change the lives of ponykind for all eternity!

  631.
  632. There’s something missing here. There is a different magical signature when teleporting yourself versus teleporting something else. This should make it easy to pinXint nothing to allow the structure of teleportation to switch to a portal, but it
  633. seXs it is not the case. I believe I spotted the problem when I first tried to teleport the air itself, something not definable by visual measuXents - When you attempt to teleport something a far distance, it requires an exponentially larger amount of mana proportional to the distance, but what if you have to sustain such a spell? TeleXon is instant, but you have to X a portal open for a calculable time, wXich is an entirely alien concept! You can’t simply teleport one place for an infinite amount of time at once, but you’ll chop the poor pony to bits if you just turn it on and off like a fanblade passing through a specific point. XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXX with a damn vegetable juicer and look what happened to him! He got his meat ‘n’ two bits sliced up and now his wife’s complaining. Need to work on this further…

  635.
  636. I have it! I’ve been lookXg at it all wrong! When you begin to perXrm a teleportation spell, you think of trying to move an object to a destXtion that is not currently its destination, correct? Well, portals have reverse logic due to their very nature! You’re bringing the destination to the object in question, which is a hole in reality that you fill with a tunnel between the two! Portals have NOTHING to do with teleportation, they’re just a shortcut! Once I figured this out, I jot down a woXable charm in five minutes and mastered it in ten. Whoever shall read these notes, please benefit from it as I have long ago. Going to encrypt it with my wand, just in case, so get that if you’re in the future, or if I’m still alive, just give me back my notes.

  673. “I'd like to offer you the notes, but as I'm sure you'll understand, I do have other obligations as well. I'm going to be taking the notes to Twilight Sparkle for her to look at first; once she's done a thorough analysis as I'm sure she will want to, then I'll consider selling them. Sound fair?”

  675. >”I understand. Just don’t let them take it away from you! I know how royalty is, they’ll just steal away anything they think is valueable and claim it to be from their bloodline.”
  676. “Twilight Sparkle is royalty?”
  677. >”She is Princess Celestia’s protogè, it is close enough.”
  678. “Alright. Well, before I go, just two more things. First of all, can you tell me where Marrow Love is? I’d like to know for my friend’s interest.”
  679. >”Er, well, she’s still stationed at the Caves of Maretonia, south of the Badlands.”
  680. >You write that down, and you finish gathering all of the information onto the piece of paper you initially began to write down on.
  681. “And one more thing, do you know of any other wands or magical clothing I could get to boost my magic?”
  682. >”Well, wands are in a bit of a recessive wave right now as many unicorns are opting for staves for their larger magical storage capabilities, but if you want to take advantage of using Starswirl’s wand coupled with another, there’s a shop dedicated to magical weapons and armor far out in White Tail City, near Winsome Falls. As for clothing, I sent some magic robes over to Tricks and Needles for Ms. Stringtie if you would like to replace that wretched, magic-sucking armor of yours.”

  691. >A massive demonic shadow being is attacking this peaceful land of pastel-colored equines that possess some very powerful magic of their own, but only unicorns and alicorns can use.
  692. >You, in the span of 3 weeks, a human with no magical capability, found a way to use magic, learn combat spells far beyond any normal unicorn, and now possess knowledge of an ancient mage that any aspiring pony would spend their entire lives trying to learn.
  693. >If you didn’t know any better, you’d feel like you were a character in a video game or something.

  697. >Or maybe they went out partying all night, honestly you have no way of knowing.

  704. >You walk through the night, seeing the crystal ponies returning to their homes and turning on their lights or candles, beginning their nightly preparations of sleep.
  705. >Hopefully you’ll get to the store on time.
  706. >While you’re walking, you feel that it couldn’t hurt to at least try to clear your mind as you walk.
  707. >…
  708. >You arrive at Tricks and Needles about ten minutes later, with absolutely no progress.
  709. >Sunwhirl’s advice is probably something you should take, as clearing your mind just doesn’t seem to work right when you’re moving around.
  710. >You walk into the door that sounds the greeting bell, and after ten or twenty seconds a pink mare with untidy orange hair suddenly peeks from the back room.
  711. >”Oh my, welcome back Anonymous! Rarity suddenly left here going after her friends, shouting something about a shadow… She left me to do all of the autumn line quota for tonight and I’ve just been swamped. 712. “I was hoping to take another look at what you have for sale.”

  872. >It’s as if completely absolving yourself of your metallic armor has made you even stronger.
  873. >Boy, were the rest of your group going to be surprised when they see you.
  874. >As you’re thinking about these many things, your lumination suddenly reveals the address you are looking for.
  875. >You go down the walkway and see Wheaties’ house once it comes within range.
  876. >While there aren’t any lights on, you could feel a small magical presence moving around inside.
  877. >You press forward your glowing hand and give a solid three knocks to the door.
  878. >”Er, one minute!…”
  879. >You wait outside, looking around at the one shimmering crystal lightpole.
  880. >Seriously, they need to invest in a few more.
  881. >After a rather long minute, you hear an unlocking noise and the door swings open.
  882. >Wheaties eyes you from your boots to your face with an expression of shock.
  883. >”…H-hi. I see you… got out of that armor.”
  884. >What would you like to say?
  885.
  886.
  887.
  888. “Hey Wheaties. Sorry for bugging you so late, but this is the only time I had to come here. I’ve been up to my neck in so much work, I haven’t had time to catch up with you like I promised.”
  889. >She blinks, taking a second to realize just how long it’s been.
  890. >”Oh, right. Come in, please!”
  891. >She lets you in her house, and the memories from last week surface.
  892. >Pinkie’s blood and AJ’s tears surface pretty hard.
  893. “Thanks.”
  894. >Wheaties sits you down on her couch.
  895. >”Okay, well, thanks for coming by… I was wondering if you’d forgotten about me…”
  896. “I’d never forget.”
  897. >As she smiles, you notice the scooter you made for her sitting pristinely next to the door.
  898. >She’s been using it frequently if the stress marks are anything to go by.
  899. >”So what’s happened, lately?”
  900. “Well, you wouldn’t believe it. I’ve trudged through the tundra with everypony else and fought yetis and polar bears, even had to fight off a God of Hate, something called a Windigo.”
  901. >Wheaties swallows a lump in her throat, eyes wide.
  902. >”My, uhm… w-well, thanks for not taking me along.”
  903. “Yeah. The second I got back, I plunged into trying to find a cure for this magical disease that’s been popping up, but then I had to go to the Palace and we actually fought off Princess Cadance, and removed the corruption she had.”
  904. >Her jaw drops, gasping in shock.
  905. >”Oh my Celestia, so she wasn’t just sick? She was corrupted… just like that Kingpin…?”
  906. “We got it out of her, though. She’s fine, don’t worry. Hell, it was such an intense battle, one of my friends ended up dying, sort of. I managed to bring him back with the defibrillator that Gyro Gear invented.”
  907. >”Was it Gable?”
  908. >You look intently at her.
  909. “Well, yeah, it was.”
  910. >”…I’m glad you made up with him, at least.”
  911. “To be fair, the rest of my friends had a problem, not me.”
  912. >”True..”
  913. “Even today, I was studying some heavy magic and I actually learned a long dead spell of healing that Starswirl created.”
  914. >Now Wheaties is speechless.
  915. >It takes her a worryingly large amount of time to even process what you just said.
  916. >”..Y-you know… healing magic?”
  917. “Mhm.”
  918. >”B-b-but that’s something that was…. thought to be impossible! Not even Princess Celestia or Luna could learn something like that, how did you…?”
  919. “I don’t really have the power to use it, and I just learned it. Doesn’t mean I know how to do it, really.”
  920. >”But still!”
  921. “At least it’s a good excuse for not having been here. Not that I didn’t, or else I wouldn’t be. … So, what’ve you been up to, this week?”
  922. >Wheaties clears her throat and leans back a bit, looking at her hooves.
  923. >”Well, I… I went antique shopping.”
  924. >She isn’t an adventurer like you’ve ended up being, but even for a normal, settled life, that sounds a bit boring.
  925. “Not to cut that interesting topic short, but I’d like to catch up with you properly anyways, not in the dead of night. Did you maybe want to hang out, tomorrow? Go shopping or even get a few beers or something with the group?”
  926. >Wheaties giggles a bit at the second suggestion.
  927. >”I’ve never went out drinking with friends before.. Don’t have many friends to begin with.”
  928. “Well, now we have to do this. In fact, my friends and I have spare bedrooms up in the castle for helping with Cadance. Want to come and crash with us in the Palace?”
  929. >You feel like if you keep surprising this crystal pony she’d start hyperventilating asbestos.
  930. >”I… I’d l-love to, such an exquisite place to be! J-just let me get my things!”
  931. >She rockets out to her bedroom, letting you sit and wait on her couch.
  932. >Is there anything you’d like to do while Wheaties is getting ready?
  933.
  934. >Inspect Wheaties’ Scooter
  935. [The scooter is just as clean and new as it was when you first made it for her. There are stress marks on the wheels and standboard from heavy usage, but it wasn’t anything that would decrease durability, just a testament to how much she loves your present.]
  936. >There’s nothing to really do with the scooter, so you rummage through your abominably heavy bag and pull out one of the books you have yet to read.
  937. >Psychology 102, here we go.
  938.
  939. >…
  940. [You learn a little bit about the foundations of psychological theory. A decent lesson considering the time you had to read.]
  941. >…
  942.
  943. >”Okay, ready!”
  944. >Wheaties interrupts you in the middle of the second chapter of the book, only carring a small satchel with a bundle of personal items resting on her back.
  945. >You quickly close the book and stand, stretching out as you both head for the door.
  946. “They’ll be really happy to see you again.”
  947. >”I know, I haven’t seen any of them since they spent the night here when you were laid up in the hospital. I’m very glad you’re alright, too.”
  948. >You open the door for her, and you reinvigorate your lumination spell as you both start walking out into the night.
  949. >”Wow… It’s very dark out.”
  950. “Is it always like this?”
  951. >”Yes, actually. I was just used to the crystal heart’s light. By the way, what made you replace your armor for those robes?”
  952. “I needed to have a bit more magical power, and it was the better tradeoff.”
  953. >”So no more spear?”
  954. “No more spear.”
  955. >You and Wheaties walk along in the crystalline night, headed for the Palace.
  956. >Is there anything you’d like to do or say on the way there?
  957.
  958.
  959.
  960. “You know, you should come down to Ponyville sometime, visit everyone. When we’re all done with this shadow business, they’d sure be glad to see you there.
  961. >”Oh, I’ve never really traveled out of the empire before. I don’t know how I’d last in such a different environment. But… maybe if there was a special occasion.”
  962. “Alright. But I do want you to meet someone, at least.”
  963. >She looks up at you.
  964. >”What do you mean?”
  965. “Well, I have a friend you might like. His name is Gyro Gear, and he’s a genius inventor that’s helped me make a few patents. We bumped heads and made a few weapons for the defense of Equestria even, and we’re both getting a bit heavy in the pockets, if you know what I mean.”
  966. >”Ooh, you’re rich, now?”
  967. “Well, not yet. Anyways, he’s a really good stallion, you’d love him if you hung out with him a bit. I will say that he’s a bit of a shut in, needs to talk to a few more ponies himself, but I have reason to believe that’s changing with his recent success.”
  968. >”You speak very highly of this Gyro. Maybe we could go see him tomorrow?”
  969. “I’ll take you there.”
  970. >Wheaties smiles and nods as you near the Palace.
  971. >…
  972. >”…But then the other pegasus says ‘I said tator tots, not tater trots!’”
  973. >You both share a laugh at her impressively detailed joke.
  974. “Damn, his dinner must’ve been pretty ruined.”
  975. >”I’ll serve it to you sometime, fresh off my hoof, hmhmhm…”
  976. >Before you can respond, you’re already at the gates, with two different guards taking their stand, spears crossed.
  977. “Doctor Anonymous, friend of Shining Armor and Twilight Sparkle?”
  978. >They don’t respond.
  979. >…You don’t have the royal pass anymore.
  980. >”We can get in, right Anon?”
  981. >You look at the two guards.
  982. >What do you say to get into the Palace?
  983.
  984.
  985.
  986. “I’m staying in the castle tonight as a guest of Princess Cadance and Shining Armor, friends of mine, and I’d like to go in and talk to them about the healing spell I just learned so I can help cure the two guards from the outpost that are hospitalized.”
  987. >The two guards actually look at each other for a moment, then at you.
  988. >They burst into genuine laughter, leaning on each other for support.
  989. “W-what?”
  990. >”H-healing magic?! …N-now I’ve heard some good ones for the crazies trying to get in here, but that takes the cake!”
  991. >”Y-yeah, you’re a real magical miracle, aren’t you?”
  992. >You cross your arms, your jimmies a little rustled from their reaction.
  993. “If you guys don’t know who I am, then I’d be worried about your competence.”
  994. >They aren’t laughing as much anymore.
  995. “Unless you’re screwing with me, but then that won’t make me pleased.”
  996. >Wheaties looks at you like you’ve just murdered someone.
  997. >The guards stand at attention, and look directly at you.
  998. >”You know what else won’t make you pleased? Jailtime.”
  999. >…Uh-oh.
1000. >Wheaties slowly backs away as the guards advance on you, spawning hoofcuffs from their armor.
1001. >Right as they turn you around, the gates suddenly swing open, revealing none other than Princess Cadance herself.
1002. >”May I ask what you two are doing to my guest?”
1003. >The guards scramble to turn around and salute the Princess.
  1004. >”P-p-princess Cadance, w-we were just arresting t-this intruder!”
  1005. >”We’ve never seen anything l-like him before, we didn’t k-know-”
1006. >Cadance interrupts them with a firm, but caring voice.
1007. >”I know you two are call ins from Canterlot, but if you would be so kind as to come back inside and actually read the bulletin in the guard’s quarters, that would be most helpful.”
  1008. >”Yes Princess!”
  1009. >”Yes Princess!”
1010. >The two guards instantly walk past her and get as far away from her as possible to avoid termination, and Cadance smiles at you two.
  1011. “Thanks for the save…”
  1012. >”Come inside. I see you brought a friend?”
1013. >You nod as Wheaties comes back to your side and the three of you walk inside.
1014. “Indeed. Cadance, this is Wheaties, Wheaties, well, you know.”
1015. >She nods with exuberant energy, completely dazzled to be in the presence of her ruler and in such a personal manner.
1016. >”It’s very.. very nice to meet you, my Princess!”
1017. >Cadance returns her starstruck gaze with a loving smile.
1018. >”It’s nice to meet you, too. Tell me, Anon, what made you change your mind about the artifacts?”
  1019. >So she did look.
1020. >What do you say, and is there anything you’d like to ask Cadance on the way back to the bedrooms?
  1021.
1022. “Well, at first I had planned on using the Circlet because I could get the most use out of it, but in light of the outcome of our last battle, I figured that I should do what I can to help the others stay safe as well… And the mask seemed like it would be of use to some of my friends, so I went with that and gave it to Applejack. Of course, she wasted no time giving me quite the scare with the thing, but what can you do?”
  1023. >She nods.
1024. >”It’s quite the sight, really. I’ve never seen a pony master an artifact like that so quickly. Though, I do wonder why you chose to switch when you were going to replace your armor anyways.”
1025. >You look down and pull a bit at your robes.
1026. “Is it really that surprising?”
1027. >”Well, not really, but I do like the new look.”
1028. >She smiles, and you smile back.
1029. >”Now then, Wheaties, was it?”
  1030. >She affirms so.
1031. >”I came with Anon because he said there were some spare bedrooms, and he would see if it was okay, so…?”
1032. >”Of course! After what he’s done for us, it’s the least we can do.”
1033. >”That’s great! We’re going shopping and drinking out tomorrow, it’s going to be so much fun!”
  1034. >Cadance looks at you.
1035. >”Oh my. I suppose you’re relaxing a bit before heading off back into danger.”
1036. “More for my friends than me.”
1037. >”I see. Just… don’t keep that changeling here for too long, please? Shining is already in a huff because of your plans, and I don’t know how long I can keep up his good graces with you. He’s awfully upset about the whole thing, but he understands. It’s just with this and the whole shadow thing and his officer passing… He’s lost a lot, and I can only be there to support him.”
  1038. “I understand.”
1039. >You, Wheaties and Cadance approach the bedrooms.
1040. >”Well, I’ll leave you both too, it. It’s past ten o’clock, and your group is very tired from the training. Especially Berry and Iron, they were swamped and sweaty the last I saw them.”
1041. >Jeez, you thought you were a horndog.
1042. >Those two were made for each other.
1043. >Is there anything you’d like to ask Cadance before she leaves?
  1044.
  1045.
1046. “How are your injuries shaping up?”
1047. >”They’re fine, thanks to you Anon. I might still be a little sore, but it’s nothing I haven’t come across before being such a polarizing figure in Equestria. You wouldn’t believe some of the zany schemes that ponies have tried to get me out of here, along with Aunt Tia and Luna.”
1048. “That’s good to know. I don’t suppose you uuh, remember our conversation after I fixed you up, do you?”
1049. >She ponders this for a moment, trying to scratch her brain for any resembling memory.
  1050. >”I’m sorry, I guess I must’ve been pretty hurt. I don’t remember a thing after I gave you the artifact.”
1051. >You’ll probably have to tell her again, just not in a single breath.
1052. “By the way, I’ve been doing some studying in the magic here, and I’ve managed to come across Starswirl’s wand.”
1053. >Cadance looks back at you with a mixture of disbelief and intensity.
  1054. >”Wait, Starswirl the Bearded?”
  1055. “Yeah.”
1056. >You draw the wand in your fingers, your hand’s markings still glowing from its mere presence.
1057. >”Where… Where did you find it?”
1058. “Sunwhirl had it for sale down at his shop in Fortuna Potions. I needed the wand so I could unlock a few of his charms that I have, specifically his notes on Healing and Portals. I can do both now… Just no mana pool to do it. I was hoping to help those guards, but not with my level.”
1059. >”Is that right? I’ll have to write a letter to Tia for that.”
1060. “Actually, Twilight and I wrote one to her a few days back so we’ll call you down when it comes, maybe?”
1061. >”That’d be nice… So you have two of Starswirl’s own notes?”
1062. “Indeed. Actually, would you like to try learning the healing spell? Just a tap of the wand, and you could most likely use it unlike me right now.”
  1063. >Wheaties slowly backs away.
1064. >”I think things are going to get a bit crazy, so… I’ll check this room out!”
1065. >She finds a vacant bedroom and closes it behind her, leaving you with a flustered Cadance.
  1066. >”B-but, me? Learning… a healing spell, that’s very.. A-alright, we can try, at least…?”
1067. >You remove Starswirl’s healing notes from your pack as you flip the wand in your hand to give her the handle, and you flatten out the notes as she hesitantly takes it from you.
1068. >The instant her levitation takes the wand, its power is transferred over to her.
1069. >Her alicorn nature instantly reacts with the massive magical potential, and it’s all Cadance can do not to burst into stars and lights right there.
1070. >”Oooh…. Alright, just tap it on the page?”
  1071. “Yeah.”
1072. >The wand lowers in her grasp, the both of you waiting for that special moment when it touches, the time seeming to stretch onto eternity…
  1073. >And it hits.
1074. >The same powerful light eminates from the notes like before, and the charm is revealed as you see Cadance’s eyes locked like stone onto them.
1075. >The words’ power wisps away from the parchment as it envelopes her mind, the process of magical learning influxuating her with ancient, unbound knowledge that will hopefully help all of Equestria.
1076. >Soon enough, the charm relocks as soon as she takes off the wand, and she hands both back to you in a daze.
1077. >”Oh my… I haven’t been this dizzy since… well, yesterday. I… I gotta go try this on one of our patients! Thank you, Anonymous!”
1078. >She weaves to you and hustles out of the hallway, excited to try this new spell.
1079. >You’ll probably just have to ask her about those things next time you see her.
1080. >If you see her, hopefully.
  1081. >Now you’re in the middle of the hallway at 10:20 P.M.
1082. >The same four bedrooms are on your right, while Wheaties took a vacant one across the hall.
1083. >What would you like to do?
  1084.
  1085.
1086. >You’re going to need to train the abilities you’ve learned some time.
  1087. >Why not start now?
1088. >You look at the door of your own room, and you visualize the interior as you hope for the best…
  1089. >Used Teleport (1/10)
  1090. [-20 MP]
  1091. Zap!
  1092. >”AAAAAAAAAAH!”
1093. >In a flash of white and silver, you suddenly find yourself inside your room.
1094. >And there’s steaming hot vegetable soup all over the floor.
  1095. >”ANON! DON’T SCARE ME LIKE THAT! Aww… It’s ruined…”
  1096. >Redheart didn’t like you popping in.
  1097. “S-sorry!”
1098. >She sighs heavily as she turns to go into the small kitchen to get something to clean up the mess, but she looks back at you with a double-take.
1099. >”Wait, what happened to your armor?”
1100. >Redheart’s checking you out, now.
1101. “Traded it out… like it?”
1102. >Your pristine violet robes are definitely catching her eye.
1103. >But now there’s soup soaking into the floor.
1104. >What would you like to do?
  1105.
  1106.
  1107.
1108. “Here, let me help with this. It’s my fault anyways, right? Sorry about this…”
1109. >You quickly move to the kitchen and snag a few paper towels from the drawer, and you go back and begin cleaning up the mess.
1110. >”Thanks, it’s been a really long day… This is the first thing I’ve gotten to eat, not to mention I’ve missed you today.”
1111. “I’ve missed you too… Why couldn’t you eat before?”
1112. >Redheart is now in the kitchen, starting to make herself another bowl of what room service delivered.
1113. >”You told us to train, so I got my spear and shield, and went out with the guards. The problem was that Gable had already beat me there and he was getting his fair share of training already. By the time I got there, the only way I could get any help was by going on patrol with them.”
  1114. “Oh.”
1115. >”It wasn’t too bad, though. I learned quite a bit from them, and I actually got to arrest somepony! Some random low-time thief was trying to take something from Gyro’s store, and since he was more or less harmless they waled me through the process and I bagged my very first shoplifter.”
1116. “Well, awesome! So you learned a lot?”
1117. >You finish cleaning up the mess and take the soiled bowl back to the kitche.
1118. >”Oh yeah. I know how to use my spear, now, and learned a little something with the shield.”
1119. [REDHEART HAS GAINED +5 BASE PA!]
1120. [REDHEART’S TOTAL HP HAS INCREASED BY 10!]
1121. [REDHEART HAS LEARNED CROSS-CUTTER! (Good attack, ½ chance to bleed for 3 turns, 3 turn CD)]
1122. [REDHEART HAS ACQUIRED MODERATE SPEAR COMBAT SKILLS!]
1123. [REDHEART HAS LEARNED SHIELD BASH! (+20 PA, stuns for 3 turns, 2 turn CD)]
1124. >She finishes making a second bowl for herself as you finish cleaning up.
1125. >”It’s vegetable soup if you want some, babe.”
1126. “Thanks. Hey, can I see your defibrillators?”
1127. >She blinks, going to set her bowl on the endtable of the bed.
1128. >Quickly pulling out the defibs from her bag, Red hands them to you.

1132. >The small shock is enough to charge them up, and you hand them back to her.
1133. >”Wow… I guess you’ve been busy today yourself, huh?”
  1134. “Shocking, I know.”
1135. >She groans, but with a smile on her face, taking the defibs back.
1136. “Well, this day’s been electrifying for me, yeah.”
  1137. >Another groan.
1138. >Knocking off the jokes, you tell her about your day, summarizing what happened with Twilight and Sunwhirl, learning the notes, trading out for robes and the wand and everything that happened, including Wheaties coming down.
1139. >Red is just as surprised as Cadance and Wheats was when you told her about the healing.
1140. >”That’s amazing, Anon! I can’t believe you actually pulled it off… So, you say your magic isn’t strong enough… so are you going to train it up?”
1141. “Hopefully. If I manage to be able to use this spell, I might actually get closer to being as good as you on the helping front. Of course, that’ll never happen.”
1142. >She blushes from the compliment.
1143. >After the two of you finish catching up, a small silence overtakes the peaceful moment before Red tells you something.
1144. >”By the way, the others were looking for you. They wanted to know where you went. Guess I’m not the only one that misses you, huh?”
1145. >It warms your heart, as vain as it probably is.
  1146. >It is now 11:00 P.M.
1147. >What would you like to do?
  1148.
  1149.
  1150.
1151. “Hey Red, I’m gonna go practice my magic a little bit more. I’ll be back in a jiffy, okay?”
1152. >Redheart is already settled in the bed, holding open her medical mastery.
1153. >”Oh, alright. I want to get to bed soon though, so don’t take too long.”
  1154. “Got it.

1158. >Seeing the hallway outside, you can conclude that it is a success.
1159. >For doing a higher-intensity spell for the first few times, you’re really good at this.
1160. >You step forward, and tip on your own foot and fall.
1161. >You take a moment to get the air back in your chest and you look back.
1162. >…Your foot is fused to the ground.
  1163. >Shit.
1164. >You push up from the ground and get into a kneeling position, and then you sit back the other way so you have better leverage.
1165. >You pull and yank on your ankle to get your foot out, but there’s no way it’s coming up.
1166. >Leather and crystal seem to just love each other.
1167. >Getting an idea, you stand back up and close your eyes once again.

1173. >Oh well, they fixed the entire wall in a few silent hours, they can take care of that.
1174. >You start walking forward, and you go down the steps.
  1175. >Wait.
1176. >You pause at the top of the steps, and rub your increasingly bearded chin as you think for a moment.
1177. >Besides the fact that you need to find a way to shave, you have an idea.
  1178. >This could be a good opportunity…
1179. >You raise your hands and look at them, and you try to cast a different spell.
  1180. >Used Wallwalking (1/10)
  1181. [-4 MP]
  1182. >You take a step forward.
  1183. >You take a step forward.
1184. >For fuck’s sake, if you get stuck to the ground one more time…
1185. >You silently wait the amount of time it takes to wear off, about 20 seconds.
1186. >Then you try again, this time focusing on making it only work for different angles.
  1187. >Used Wallwalking (2/10)
  1188. [-4 MP]
1189. >You raise your foot, and it’s not stuck.
  1190. >Good, progress…
1191. >You walk up to the top step, and then you plant a foot onto the wall next to it.
1192. >With that working, you hesitantly jump up and then push your other foot to the wall, and your entire perspective changes.
  1193. >Now you’re standing on the wall.
1194. >Without much time to lose, you quickly unstick your left foot, and put it in.
1195. >Then you take your right foot out, and put it back in.
1196. >You put your left foot out, and you shake it all about.
1197. >But really, you’re doing your best to run along the wall down the steps.
1198. >You make it down faster and faster until you reach the bottom, and the instant you jump off the wall to right yourself, the spell wears off.
1199. >Like a cartoon, your feet slip and slide right down the crystal at the same time you hop, culminating in you falling side-first down the last few steps, slamming into the ground and rolling down them.
  1200. “AUUGH… ooohhh that’s gonna hurt in the morning…”
1201. >Not to mention your ass still hurts.
1202. >You get yourself off the ground and crack your neck, thankful that there wasn’t any lasting damage.
  1203. >Scratch that, there’s damage.
1204. >Psychological damage as you see the patrolling guards that just watched your antics with funny looks.
  1205. >Both mares.
1206. >Well, that was fun while it lasted.
1207. “Say, can you guys direct me to the kitchen?”
1208. >”There’s room service, you know.”
1209. >”It’s the third right door in the main hall, Mr. Spider.”
1210. >They both start laughing as they turn the corner, and you resist the urge to throw a fireball at them.
  1211. >Oh, that’d be a good spell to have.
1212. >Instead of hurting yourself again, you decide to stretch the limits of the first spell you were working on.
1213. >Closing your eyes, you envision the Main Hall in your Mind’s Eye.
  1214. >Used Teleport (4/10)

  1217. >BAD IDEA!
1218. >You fall upwards of ten feet straight onto the crystal floor right on your sore ass.
1219. >It hurts, baby don’t hurt me no more!
1220. >You take a quick survey and see that nobody saw that, at least.
1221. >Getting up and dusting off your robes, you’re getting pretty frustrated at not knowing how these spells work.
1222. >As you start walking towards the door, that’s when you notice something.
1223. >The Main Hall has a fireplace, but it isn’t currently lit.
1224. >A good way to blow off steam, if you don’t fuck it up.
1225. >You walk up to it and keep a safe distance as you raise a hand, knowing that you’ve already had experience with this one.

1230. >You haven’t seen it yet, so it’d be best if you walked in this time.
1231. >Opening the door, you look inside and see there’s a few 3rd shift ponies starting work on cleaning up the place, sealing leftovers and doing dishes.
1232. >As you walk inside, you spot one of the counters that haven’t been cleared off yet.
  1233. >The dessert counter.
1234. >From lush, succulent apple dumplings to pecan pies and blueberry cupcakes, there’s one thing that you know Redheart would love.
1235. >Cookie-topped vanilla cake with strawberry frosting.
1236. >It makes your mouth water just looking at it.
1237. >It’s Redheart’s favorite treat, in cake form.
1238. >You think about how to get it, until one of the cooks spots you.
1239. >”Oh, hello there doctor! Congratulations on the tournament win.”
  1240. “Oh, thanks.”
  1241. >”Did you need anything?”
1242. “Well, I was wondering if I could get a few slices of that cake, maybe. It’s for my, uh, marefriend.”
1243. >She smiles and looks back.
  1244. >”Rise! Cover the cake!”
1245. >The stallion known as Rise promptly follows her orders.
1246. >”This was just a selection for room service that never got taken out, but we’ll give it to you. Not much more room in the fridge for it anyways.”
1247. >The stallion comes up to the cook and hands the entire cake to you, which you take with gusto.

1272. >You decide to go even farther and you run at a left angle until you’re rocketing up, and now you’re running along the ceiling with the cake underneath you.
1273. >By the time you reach the top of the steps to the second floor, you quickly fall back down and bunnyhop off the wall safely this time, reveling in your success.
