Bat Family


                                            >Being a stay at home dad is great.  They are called house stallions here, but it tickles your fancy that your wife gets them to call you a haus herr.

                                            >Unlike on earth where you would be a weird jerk for having the kids up after midnight, things are different here.

                                            >The jewels of your eyes are currently play fighting with little wooden spears.  Papaya and Fig flap around just a few inches off the ground skreeing at each other right next to the couch.  Papaya flies low, Fig flaps high exchanging wooden clanks as they pass by each other

                                            >Both with coats colored sage and purple eyes. Fig sports and emerald mane while Papaya’s is orange.

                                            >Papaya is aptly named with larger hips, while Fig is just too sweet when she isn’t horse playing with her sister.

                                            >Clank Clank Clank


                                            >Know you might ask how did I meet my bat wife?

                                            >No shit there you were stumbling into a meadow.  You had been lost in the woods for a few days.

                                            >Apparently cursing at the trees on earth, in a forest [spoiler] forest faeries were playing tricks on you, you cursed the forest saying “faggots” they heard “fae-gots”[/spoiler]granted you a one way ticket to a much better world.

                                            >So there you were walking through a nice meadow at dusk, being freed from a forest behind you.  The birds were flying back to their nests squawking at each other, when they all stopped chirping.  Those birds zipped out of there in a hurry.

                                            >A loud whooshing sound could be heard behind you.  A strong wind berated your back.

                                            >As you turned around a terrible roar almost deafened you.  From above the tree line came the meanest looking dragon you had ever seen.  This beast was a deep red, as large as an elephant, and coming your way.

                                            >Well you were no stranger to danger [spoiler] that’s a lie yes you were [/spoiler] .

                                            >With the speed of a Kenyan that was told he was a father, you beat feet forward yelling manly things and not making a yellow streak behind you [spoiler] you screamed like a bitch , but can’t remember if you left a tinkle trail [/spoiler]

                                            >There were a few farm houses a ways off and you headed there trying not to trip.  As you got closer to the houses you had taken a quick look behind you.  That dragon was almost upon you.

                                            >You could feel the reverberations in your bones when it roared.  Its breath was almost upon you, and that thing you didn’t want did happen.  You had tripped forward and face planted into the soil.

                                            >The dragon had flown past you.  You looked up and the beast was doing a slow turning maneuver.

                                            >From out of the nearest farm house burst a platoon of bat ponies, armed to the teeth.  They had taken to the air in formation making harassing runs at the dragon.  Numerous times the dragon had tried to swipe at them with its sharp talons and spat fire in attempts to burn them to the ground.

                                            >But the beast was too slow.  It had become frustrated with them and had turned diving down at you.

                                            >Now I want you to know that I had reflexes like a cat.  At the time though I was transfixed looking up at the sky with this terrible thundering lizard coming towards me with talons opened to either end me or take me away.


                                            >Fig ”Daddy is this where Mommy saved you?”

                                            >You look down at Fig and Papaya.  They had long stopped playing night guard and were sitting down in front of you.  You must have said that all out loud.  Let’s just blame that on the wine you had been drinking while making Dawn Dinner.

                                            “It was.  She had anticipated what that dragon had planned, diving into me to get us both out of the way just as the talons had snapped shut with nothing but air in between them”

                                            “I had landed on my back with your mother on top of me.  I never had imagined myself as being the stallion in distress being rescued by a brave mare.  But your mother look all the part of a brave knight.  As I looked into her eyes, I knew she was the one.  And shortly after we were married”

                                            >Papaya hops up and down with her wings flapping.  “Daddy tell us how Mommy defeated the dragon”

                                            >You look over to the stove.  The stew is done and she will be home soon

                                            “Another time Papaya.  Now you and your sister need to clean up for dinner…scrub those hooves this time”

                                            >Fig sticks her tongue out at you until you look disapprovingly at her.  Quickly she retracts the offending appendage.  They both scamper to the bathroom.

                                            >You prepare four bowls of stew and place them on the dining table.

                                            >As you turn around from the table, the front door opens up.  Moonlight pours in illuminating the love of your life.  Midnight trots in looking tired.

                                            >She spots you as you approached her.  You give her a quick kiss on the lips to which she grabs you with a hoof drawing you towards her making the kiss turn into a longer affair.

                                            > Midnight breaks the kiss smiling up at you.  You rub her fluffy ears just how she likes it, her eyes close and she leans into you.

                                            “Dawn Dinner is ready, here let me help you out of your armor”

                                            >Midnight lingers against you for a moment before relenting.  In no time her armor is hanging by the door on a wooden stand.

                                            >“Momma, Momma!”

                                            >Fig and Papaya flutter over crashing into your wife and their mother hugging her.  They eeee out into her barrel as they continue to hug her.  Midnight hugs them both with her wings encasing them.  She trots over to the dinner table with the fillies being held in her wings.

                                            >Dawn Dinner was had.  Papaya and Fig excitedly told Midnight about their day and she told you about what a long day she had.  She looked content now with her loving family around her and a full belly.
