Expiry: Never
-
>Another day at Celestia School for Gifted Unicorns, the name of the school was so long you always just called it Magic School.
-
>As your mother bids you goodbye and a good day at school, you wave her back and enter the school.
-
>Nothing much has changed from the last year you entered school, only the banners change from time to time as events appear; such as the upcoming coronation of Princess Twilight and other events you aren't that interested in.
-
>You arrive at your classroom, it's been some weeks since the semester started.
-
>As you enter the classroom, your schoolmates greet you, you wave and return the gesture. Everypony was always kind and inspired to learn more about magic.
-
>Well, many of them had different uses for magic. You had Scarlet Blossom, a filly who wanted to help with her family's flower business, Dolphin Dive, a colt with the drive to be a good student and become a royal guard at Canterlot Castle, and Silver Tracks, another colt who wished to become an engineer that builds more train tracks all over Equestria to connect the cities...
-
>"Yo! If it isn't the green menace!"
-
>And then you have him.
-
"As cheery as ever, Double Down."
-
>"Oh come on, Anon! Don't just call your buddy like that!"
-
"Then call me Anon, not 'Green Menace'. You make me sound dangerous to other classes, dude!"
-
>Snake Eyes. A colt and friend of yours who was too much into games of chance mostly related to dice games. Having no interest in following his parents' career path as politicians he instead dreams of opening a world-renowned casino. It's just that he wants to open a casino in any city and become popular among all of Equestria.
-
>Hah, he even wants to invite Dolphin Dive to be a staff member in the future, IF, he even gets to open a casino.
-
>You'd think he cheats with his magic, but he is a fair colt who knows not to cheat.
-
>"Wanna play a game or two before the teacher gets here? Let's bet our lunchboxes!"
-
>You roll your eyes and sit at your desk.
-
"Last time you lost I felt bad about it, I even gave you half my sandwich, remember?"
-
>"Yesterday is yesterday, my friend! Today is another day full of chances! Let's roll it, come on!"
-
"I always was curious as to why you just want me to sit and play everytime, is it for you to get better?"
-
>Snake Eyes takes a laugh and with a sly smile levitates two dice and a cup.
-
>"Do you know the first rule of gambling? It's 'Get your opponent to sit at the table'. At first, you have to lose on purpose, if only a little. If you build their confidence like that, they won't feel uncomfortable, even if you raise the stakes. Then, by the time they come to their senses... they've already lost everything they had!"
-
>By that logic, it would mean you are going to lose someday because, well... he hasn't won to you ever since you met him.
-
>Clearly, you have an advantage since you were human before and kinda knew the basics of gambling.
-
"Alright, alright. Best out of three?"
-
>"Alright! Let's roll the dice!"
-
-
>Classes were over and you and Snake Eyes were walking home. Celestia's sun was already setting and dusk was starting to settle in.
-
>It had been a productive day once again, learning a few more things about teleportation magic and how not to get your head stuck in a wall.
-
>Magic is a bit complicated, but with enough study, anypony can become like Starswirl the Bearded!
-
>Snake Eyes started sighing out of annoyance.
-
>"Dude, I can't believe you won two times in a row... how do you do it?"
-
"I just used logic, I chose a 7 first since it's in the middle of the possible numbers the dice can roll while you choose a 10, the dice landed on a 3 and a 2, making it 5. The other game result was a 3, this time you choose 10, and I stayed on 7."
-
>"There is no logic in gambling! Only luck! Luck!"
-
>Snake Eyes was throwing a tiny tantrum, even after you had returned his lunchbox to him.
-
"There, there." You give a few pats to Snake Eye's head. "You'll get better, buddy. You may not be good enough yet, but your magic is improving!"
-
>Snake Eyes stops his tantrum and looks at you.
-
>"You're right. If I can master teleportation magic, I surely can use it in my games!"
-
"Oi. No cheating."
-
>"I never said I would cheat. It's more practical to teleport your dice to the cup or to land the cards on the table, right? Saves everypony's time!"
-
"As long as you don't change the dice or modify the cards, you're fine, buddy."
-
>"Thanks, dude!"
-
>You both laugh it out and arrive at the road that divides your ways since he lived west of town and you lived in the south part of the citadel.
-
>Before you could say goodbye to him, you notice... somepony waiting, staring, and slowly stepping close to you two.
-
>The lights of the street turned on and you see the figure, it was what you think was an earth pony, a filly; her coat and mane were... somehow similar to a panda. You've never seen someone like this before, is she perhaps from some part of Equestria?
-
>Nervous, the filly starts to slowly talk.
-
>"Ni-Nihao!" She says with a gobbly voice. "I mean, hello!"
-
>Nihao? Where have you heard that before?
-
>"Umm, I don't know how to say this, it's just... can I talk with you?" She points her hoof at you without looking at you.
-
"H-huh?"
-
>"Ah, so it's like that. I knew you were popular at school but not this much, dude! I'll head to my home already and-"
-
>You grab Snake Eyes to stop him before he moves.
-
"Buddy, wait!" You whisper to Snake Eyes. "Don't leave me alone with her! I'm not good with fillies!"
-
>"Is it because of that time you tried teleporting magic and your head got stuck in the fillies bathroom?" He whispers back.
-
"No! It's just... I don't like fillies that much yet, y'know?"
-
>"Not my problem, you two look like you could be a couple!" He laughs.
-
>You release your grip from him and sigh.
-
"Is this because you lost to me today? Double Down?"
-
>He cringed at the nickname once again but didn't say anything.
-
>"Yeah, yeah, sure dude. Just invite me to the wedding, alright?" He clearly said that out loud for the filly to hear.
-
>With a smug smile he started walking away.
-
>As you were alone with this filly who came out of nowhere, the awkward silence was present between you two.
-
>You... aren't good with fillies.
-
"So, uhh... what do you want again?"
-
>There was silence, but the filly took a sigh of relief and smiled at you.
-
>"My name is Honey Drop, I've been wanting to know you for weeks- no, months! Every time I see you walking this road, going to school, or getting home every day!" She takes a pause and starts stepping a bit close to you. "I wasn't brave enough to say even a little peep! But today I feel like I should! And that's why I am here!"
-
>Something about her... didn't tick right to you. Are fillies like this?
-
"Umm, I see. Well, heh, nice to meet you, Honey Drop, my name is-"
-
>"Anon! Right?" She interrupts you quickly.
-
"Y-Yeah, how did you-"
-
>"Know? Pfft, all I had to do was ask around! I went to the school and asked some ponies, a teacher or two, probably read the list of attendance too."
-
>Wait, what was that last part?
-
>She starts getting closer again.
-
>"But I JUST had to meet you! Today! I want to see you every day! Be with you and, and!"
-
>You start stepping back, sweat coming out of your forehead.
-
>Fillies aren't like this.
-
"I should be going, it's getting late and my mom is probably worried! Hehe, you know?"
-
>"Oh I know her!"
-
>No you don't.
-
>"Your mom and dad adopted you, right?"
-
>How does she know?
-
"W-who are you? Please stop saying all that as if you knew me"
-
>"But I WANT to know you! I want to be with you, Anon!"
-
>You don't like her.
-
>Everything inside you is telling you to run and not look back.
-
"Why would you want to know me? I don't even know you!"
-
>There was a pause and she stared at you with her eyes that she could barely open. The light she was under twitched twice.
-
>"Because I love you, Anon."
-
"..." With no words to reply to her, you started walking past her.
-
>She expected an answer, but you said nothing.
-
>"Anon?"
-
"Please leave me alone."
-
>You walked... then you trotted. Then you ran.
-
>A feeling you've never felt once in the time you arrived here as a colt was within your being.
-
>Fear.
-
>Everything about her was wrong and you were so scared you could make no trace of your emotions.
-
-
>Taking deep breaths and exhaling, your chest sweating and body tired, you arrive at your house.
-
>It didn't take a second for the door to be opened by your mom, Colgate.
-
>"I was starting to get worried! You usually aren't this late, what did-" Her face changed to an expression of concern. "Oh my son, why are you crying? Did something happen at school?"
-
>You took a hoof near your face. You were trembling and didn't realize you started tearing up. Were you that scared that the situation made you cry?
-
"I... don't wanna talk about it."
-
>You wipe out your tears and step inside your house.
-
-
>"Well look who decided to finally get home! How was school today, Anon?"
-
"Hey, dad."
-
>You leave your backpack in the living room and sit at the table next to your adoptive father.
-
>His name was Time Turner, a stallion working at Ponytown and Canterlot's clock factory. Usually, he is at Ponytown, but this time it seems like he had a day off.
-
>"Why so late, champ? Got a fillyfriend?"
-
"NO!"
-
>Both your parents stare at you.
-
"No... I don't have time for that, I want to study magic. Magic only!"
-
>"He's hiding something!" Colgate whispers to Time Turner.
-
>"Yeah, a close friend for sure!"
-
>They both keep on whispering and giggling.
-
"You know I can hear you, right?"
-
-
>After some dinner, you thank your mom for the food and start going to your room.
-
>"Oh well, a friend invited me to stargaze with her. I better get going, or I will be tardy!"
-
>"Oh ho ho my dear, you ARE tardy!"
-
>Both of your parents chuckled at each other.
-
>You will never understand the time jokes these two come up with every day.
-
>You get inside your bedroom and jump to your bed, your head landing on your pillow.
-
>You take a big sigh.
-
"What a day... I want to forget it now."
-
>Forget... speaking of it, you should get your diary and check if everything's alright.
-
>Using your magic, you levitate your diary from out the shelf and open it.
-
>Everything looks in order.
-
"One of these days I'm going to look at this diary and... probably think this was a crazy adventure dream I had."
-
>You close your diary and get up.
-
"Okay, let's decide on the fate of my diary. I am getting a bit tired of this routine anyway."
-
>You pick up a coin and stare at it.
-
"One flip. If it lands on heads, I move on and stop looking at the diary. Yet if it lands on the other side... maybe I can still do this routine for a week or two until the coin lands on heads.
-
>With the help of your magic, you toss it until it hits the ceiling of your room.
-
"Oh whoops, too much magic"
-
>The coin hits the ground and you stare at it.
-
>...
-
>It lands sideways.
-
>SIDEWAYS.
-
"The HELL does that even mean?"
-
>You give it a thought.
-
"Wait... hell? What is that? What did I mean by that?"
-
>You pick up the coin with your magic again.
-
"Well, maybe I should try again? Or what does a tie even mean? ...I should ask Snake Eyes, but he won't believe I landed it sideways." You chuckle a bit.
-
>You toss the coin into the air again, your magic made it so the coin was tossed next to the window.
-
>The coin lands and you get close to look at the result.
-
>Tails.
-
>You pick up the coin and stare at the side it landed on.
-
"I still don't know why I should call one side tails since, well, it has Princess Luna's face on the other side of the coin... maybe I should just call it Sun and Moon."
-
>You look at the window, and decide to open it and feel the fresh air of Canterlot's night.
-
>The sight of your house was pretty good, Princess Luna's moon was in such a beautiful position everypony could enjoy the view.
-
>You yawn a bit.
-
"Guess it's time to hit the hay."
-
>As you were about to close your window, your corner of the eye noticed... something, or rather, someone.
-
>A bit far from your house, you could see a dark figure stalking in the shadows, the lights of the streets could only hit the left hoof, which was as black as ink.
-
>A chill ran out your back.
-
>It couldn't be... her, could it?
-
>The shadow figure moved, it startled you and you duck to the floor, closing the window with your magic, making sure the lock was on.
-
"It was my imagination, it was just... my imagination. I need to sleep, I'm tired, that's it, right? A night of sleep should help me."
-
>You couldn't sleep well that night.
-
-
-
Diary of Anon

I learned more about levitation magic.
