1.
Part I:
-
2.
>*WHOMP*
-
3.
>Your body is shocked awake by something cold and wet settling underneath it.
-
4.
>*SQUISH*
-
5.
>It feels like...mud?
-
6.
>You quickly free yourself from the puddle of wet dirt and sit upright.
-
7.
>Dark trees and hedges surround you, seemingly stretching out forever on all sides.
-
8.
>Wait a minute, what are you doing out here?
-
9.
>The last thing you remember was walking down the city road when a bright light suddenly engulfed you.
-
10.
>Then everything went black.
-
11.
>You're suddenly pulled from your thoughts as a symphony of ominous howls flood the woods.
-
12.
>Wherever "HERE" is, it doesn't sound very safe.
-
13.
>You scramble to your feet but trip and fall back into the mud.
-
14.
"What the buck?!" You squeak in frustration.
-
15.
>Your legs feel a lot shorter and stubbier than usual.
-
16.
>Oh no, someone chopped your legs off!
-
17.
"Huh?!"
-
18.
>Why does your voice sound so young and squeaky?!
-
19.
>Another series of howls tear through the fog, sending a nasty shiver down your spine.
-
20.
>It's time to leave. NOW.
-
21.
>With a grunt of effort, you jerk your hooves free from the muck and gallop into the darkness.
-
22.
>Eh? Galloping?
-
23.
>You look down at your limbs and gasp.
-
24.
>Your arms. Your legs. They've changed!
-
25.
>The hands and feet you used to know are gone, seemingly replaced by some crude green stumps.
-
26.
>Come to think of it, why do you seem so comfortable running around on all fours?
-
27.
>It's almost like you're some kind of animal?
-
28.
>A million questions swarm your mind at once, but the chilling howls leave little time to properly ponder them.
-
29.
>*THUMP* *THUMP* THUMP*
-
30.
>You're definitely not alone in these woods.
-
31.
>The howls become louder, and greater in number.
-
32.
>Sweat begins dripping from your face.
-
33.
>The darkened skyline does little to help you navigate this seemingly endless labyrinth of trees and shrubs.
-
34.
>One thought pushes to the center of your mind.
-
35.
>If you don't get out of here and fast, then those creatures will eat you for dinner.
-
36.
-
37.
Part II:
-
38.
>*BUMP*
-
39.
>Your flank is spanked by a low-hanging tree branch.
-
40.
>*CRUNCH*
-
41.
>Your hooves become tangled in a cluster of vines.
-
42.
"NEEEEEEEEEEIGH!"
-
43.
>Oh dear Celestia, even your cries of anguish are adorable.
-
44.
>It's so dark...if only you could see where you're going...
-
45.
>*SPARK*
-
46.
>Suddenly a small light radiates from your forehead.
-
47.
>WOW.wav
-
48.
>So many questions, so little time.
-
49.
>*HOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLL*
-
50.
>You snort in frustration and gallop as fast as your stubbly legs will allow.
-
51.
>At least your surroundings are easier to see, but now the monsters can see YOU more clearly.
-
52.
>It feels like you've been galloping forever. Will this forest never end?!
-
53.
>Your question is answered by a bright light radiating from the other end of the narrow path.
-
54.
"FREEDOM!" You shout excitedly.
-
55.
>The light draws closer and closer until it's almost blinding.
-
56.
>At last, salvation is at hoof!
-
57.
>*THUD*
-
58.
"OOF!"
-
59.
>You collide with something standing at the forest's edge and fall back on your rump.
-
60.
>"Hmm?"
-
61.
>Strike that, you collided with somePONY.
-
62.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean-" You gasp.
-
63.
>There stands a tall white mare, her colorful mane flowing in the breeze.
-
64.
>She's no ordinary horse that's for sure.
-
65.
>There's a certain aura about her, almost a godlike presence if you're being honest.
-
66.
>"Oh! Hello little one." She smiles warmly at you. "Where did you come from?"
-
67.
>You open your mouth to respond, but her radiant beauty has you cooing in awe like a giddy child.
-
68.
>"Is something the matter, dear?" She chuckles at your adorable display.
-
69.
>*HOOOOOOOWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLLL*
-
70.
>Your hair stands on end.
-
71.
>Without thinking, you scramble behind the tall mare and whimper.
-
72.
>Three monsters immediately jump out from the foliage and snarl as they approach from the darkness.
-
73.
-
74.
Part III:
-
75.
>"Oh no, timberwolves!"
-
76.
>The mare clops her hooves together, summoning a tough-looking earth pony in shiny armor.
-
77.
>"At your service, my Princess."
-
78.
>The red stallion bows respectfully but the princess raises a hoof to stop him.
-
79.
>"There's no time for the usual pleasantries, Commander Iron Heart."
-
80.
>She points a hoof towards the approaching wooden canines.
-
81.
>"Timberwolves are once again wandering too close to our kingdom."
-
82.
>"Timberwolves?!" Commander Iron Heart quickly places himself between the princess and the timberwolves. "Begone, filthy dogs! You shall bring no harm to the princess!"
-
83.
>"I can handle these three." Her horn flares up with a magical aura. "You must rally the troops and protect our citizen ponies at all costs!"
-
84.
>The Commander hesitates for a moment, but quickly recomposes himself.
-
85.
>"As you wish, your highness."
-
86.
>The stallion quickly bows and gallops off towards the town square.
-
87.
>Soon the sounds of panicking ponies rise above the village.
-
88.
>M-MORE Timberwolves are coming?!
-
89.
>The mare scoops you up in her hoof and holds you close.
-
90.
>You yelp and snuggle into the majestic pony for dear life.
-
91.
>She feels you trembling in her embrace and responds by hugging you closer.
-
92.
>"There there little one, be not afraid." She reassures you in a soothing voice.
-
93.
>You utter a frightened mewl and look into her eyes as she smiles.
-
94.
>It's oddly comforting to be held by such a kind and caring horse.
-
95.
>But can she really fight off these scary monsters?!
-
96.
>The mare digs her hooves into the ground and glares at the three growling gremlins.
-
97.
>"You are not welcome here, timberwolves."
-
98.
>She shoots a beam of multi-colored light at the middle timberwolf, instantly vaporizing it into ashes.
-
99.
>The two remaining wolves stop in their tracks.
-
100.
>"Leave now, or join your fallen friend in the depths of oblivion."
-
101.
>Her horn reignites, ready to finish them off in one fell swoop.
-
102.
-
103.
Part IV:
-
104.
>Shockingly, the two wolves back down with a whimper and scramble back into the woods.
-
105.
>Relief and disbelief fight for dominance in your mind.
-
106.
>This mare must be REALLY strong to scare off such frightening creatures like that.
-
107.
>"Are you alright, little one?"
-
108.
>The heartfelt concern in her voice moves you to tears.
-
109.
>You look up and stare into her beautiful pink eyes with a small gasp.
-
110.
>There's something about this mare that just HUMBLES you, makes you feel safe...but it's not clear why...
-
111.
"Y-Yes, thank you Mommy-" You quickly cover your mouth.
-
112.
>Why did you just call her that?!
-
113.
>"Mommy?" stares at you for a brief moment.
-
114.
>"Curious..." She stretches out her mighty wings. "I have been known as many things over the millennia."
-
115.
>Suddenly you're thrust into softness as she clears the tree line with a single flap of her wings.
-
116.
>"But never before has somepony called me THAT."
-
117.
>You snuggle into her warm coat, earning a playful giggle from the motherly mare.
-
118.
>More and more questions come to mind, but her warm hugs and gentle words compel you to go with the flow.
-
119.
>She seems to be quite a kind and loving mare, so why ruin the moment?
-
120.
>There will be time to talk later, assuming nothing else happens.
-
121.
>*HOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLL*
-
122.
>You look down at the village.
-
123.
>Dozens of armor-clad ponies are hard at work building defenses and fending off another pack of timberwolves.
-
124.
>Many other ponies are in full panic mode, frantically barricading their homes or packing small wagons to evacuate.
-
125.
"Mommy, are they going to be okay?" You point to the chaotic scene unfolding below.
-
126.
>"I understand your concern, little one."
-
127.
>The princess pats your head and continues flying towards an unknown destination.
-
128.
>"But our kind is tougher than we appear."
-
129.
>You see the pony soldiers begin to gain ground against the timberwolves.
-
130.
>"Commander Iron Heart has everything well in hoof."
-
131.
>You squint your eyes and see the same red stallion from earlier, rallying his troops and fighting off three timberwolves with a sword.
-
132.
"Wow, that guy is so brave!"
-
133.
>"Indeed he is." She declares proudly. "Courage of that caliber is what separates the leaders from the followers."
-
134.
>The supporting troops quickly arm themselves and join their leader on the front lines.
-
135.
>It's truly awe-inspiring to see the ponies work together and defend their homes as well as each other from such a terrifying enemy.
-
136.
>"This isn't the first time we've faced this manner of foe."
-
137.
>The princess sighs in frustration and stares off into the distance.
-
138.
>"And it certainly won't be the last..."
-
139.
-
140.
Part V:
-
141.
>You see a castle rapidly approaching on the horizon.
-
142.
>"Here we are!" The princess proudly declares.
-
143.
>The castle grounds sit at the edge of a mighty cliff, adorned with many ivory towers.
-
144.
>Their walls and pointed rooftops feature elaborate gold trim that glistens in the moonlight.
-
145.
>Two mighty waterfalls pour out from the castle's sides, plunging into the dark valley below.
-
146.
>It's like something out of a fairytale!
-
147.
"Wow!" You excitedly shout. "Do you really live in a house like this, Mommy?!"
-
148.
>The mare gently lands on a particular balcony and sets you down upon the shiny marble flooring.
-
149.
>"Yes indeed, little one." She smiles with a wave of her hoof. "Welcome to my royal home."
-
150.
>You immediately look around the massive chamber, taking in every single fancy detail your little eyes could handle.
-
151.
>Delicate gossamer curtains hang from every window.
-
152.
>Detailed tapestries depicting ponies and landscapes line the walls.
-
153.
>Long purple carpets mark the walkways from here to the entrance.
-
154.
>Various potted plants, dressers, and shelves of knick-knacks fill out the room to give it a cozy atmosphere.
-
155.
>In the middle of all this regal splendor lies a large gilded bed, complete with gold-tasseled blankets and pillows.
-
156.
>You can't wait to snuggle up to Mommy in that big comfy bed!
-
157.
>*ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!*
-
158.
>Your mother's eyes widen in terror as a mighty roar shakes the walls around you.
-
159.
"W-What was t-that?!" You stammer.
-
160.
>Not wasting another second, you scramble over to your mother and hide beneath her underbelly.
-
161.
>"Oh no..."
-
162.
>The princess' worried tone sends you into a trembling fit.
-
163.
>Another heavy roar tears through the castle.
-
164.
>"Wait here, little one." Your mother commands. "I must go now."
-
165.
>The startled mare returns to the balcony and prepares to take flight.
-
166.
"Wha-?!" You cling to her leg. "Please don't go Mommy! I'm s-scared!"
-
167.
>She pauses for a moment, and then gently pats you on the head.
-
168.
>"I'm scared too." She looks into your eyes.
-
169.
>Oh no, whatever's happening must be REALLY dangerous if your mother is scared!
-
170.
>You prepare to beg her again, but she silences your protest with a kiss to the forehead.
-
171.
>"Don't worry my little pony, I'll return shortly." She calmly reassures you.
-
172.
>Tears flow from your eyes in one last attempt to convince momhorse to stay, but there's no changing her mind now.
-
173.
"Please be careful Mommy..."
-
174.
>You whimper as she disappears into the rising smoke.
-
175.
-
176.
Part VI:
-
177.
>The sounds of chaos erupt from Canterlot town square.
-
178.
>Through squinted eyes you see some kind of giant timberwolf taking shape.
-
179.
>You gasp as the smaller timberwolves are quickly absorbed into its ever-growing body.
-
180.
>Now fully formed, the "titanwolf" stands head and shoulders above even the tallest village structures.
-
181.
>Its three heads viciously roar, sending even the mighty Captain Iron Heart scurrying in terror.
-
182.
>One pony stands between it and the fleeing villagers: your dear mother.
-
183.
"Oh no..." You squeak.
-
184.
>The princess begins her assault, blasting the creature with beams of strong magic.
-
185.
>At first it looks like the monster is taking serious damage from your mother's attacks.
-
186.
>In a stunning turn of events, the beast begins pulling wood from the shattered corpses of its brethren, and is soon fully reformed.
-
187.
>Your mother is now quivering before the terrible beast.
-
188.
>This is bad.
-
189.
>REALLY BAD.
-
190.
>The titanwolf turns its attention to a group of fleeing ponies near the south entrance.
-
191.
"Run, RUN EVERYPONY!"
-
192.
>You begin frantically banging your hooves on the balcony rail.
-
193.
"The mean old wolf is going to eat you!"
-
194.
>The ponies turn to look at their pursuer for a split second.
-
195.
>That split second of hesitation is all the time it needs.
-
196.
>*CRUNCH*
-
197.
>You physically reel at the sound of ponies screaming for their lives as they're ripped apart by the wolf's three massive jaws.
-
198.
>The creature licks its bloodied teeth and sets its gaze upon your frightened mother.
-
199.
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
-
200.
>YOU HAVE TO HELP YOUR MOMMY BEFORE SHE GETS GOBBLED UP!
-
201.
>But she told you to stay put...
-
202.
>There's no time for hesitation.
-
203.
>Disobeying your mother is NOT what a good foal would do, but if you don't do SOMETHING...
-
204.
>...she might not live to be angry with you.
-
205.
>That's it, your mind is made up.
-
206.
"Hang on Mommy, I'm coming!" You shriek.
-
207.
>Concentrate! Focus on being there for your mother in her hour of need!
-
208.
-
209.
Part VII:
-
210.
>*POOF*
-
211.
>You open your eyes to see a familiar-looking mare standing tall in the face of certain doom.
-
212.
"Mommy!" You squeal.
-
213.
>"Little one, is that you?!"
-
214.
>The motherly matriarch turns around and gasps.
-
215.
>"W-What are you doing here?! I told you to stay in the castle!"
-
216.
>You hug her leg and whimper in defiance.
-
217.
"I'm here to p-protect you, M-Mommy..." Your voice trails off.
-
218.
>Wait a second, how are YOU going to protect HER from THAT?
-
219.
>Of all the times to not fully think things through...
-
220.
>The wooden hellhound roars once more and swings a mighty paw in your direction.
-
221.
>"Look out!"
-
222.
>Your mother quickly grabs you and rolls to the side.
-
223.
>*CRASH*
-
224.
>The titanwolf's claws tear through a nearby house, instantly splintering it into matchwood.
-
225.
>The dust soon settles and you're greeted with a horrifying scene.
-
226.
>There in the middle of the rubble lies a bloodied mare clutching her foal.
-
227.
>They don't move.
-
228.
>They don't blink.
-
229.
>They don't make any sounds at all.
-
230.
>Your tear-stained eyes look around in confusion as momhorse quickly scoops you up in her hooves.
-
231.
>"Please look away, little one." She replies. "Such things were never meant to be seen by young eyes."
-
232.
>You sniffle and bury your face into her chest.
-
233.
>That evil monster...it killed these poor innocent ponies!
-
234.
>What did they ever do to deserve this?!
-
235.
"Why, Mommy?" You mewl in distress. "Why do these monsters want to kill us?"
-
236.
>You cling to her even tighter than before.
-
237.
"Did we do something wrong?"
-
238.
>Your ears perk up at the sounds of sniffles coming from above.
-
239.
>"No, my little colt." She leans down and gently nuzzles you. "Sometimes bad things happen to good ponies."
-
240.
-
241.
Part VIII:
-
242.
>The mighty beast approaches from a cloud of debris and snarls, its six eyes locked directly onto you.
-
243.
>Your mother cuddles you close and snorts in defiance.
-
244.
>"You have caused enough destruction for one lifetime, foul beast." She coldly declares.
-
245.
>*MAGICK NOISES*
-
246.
>You watch your mother fire up another spell and aim at the monster's middle head.
-
247.
>*ZAP*
-
248.
>The monster's head is blown clean off, leaving a ragged stump in its place.
-
249.
>The creature howls in pain reels back on its hind legs.
-
250.
>You look around and notice there are no timberwolf corpses left for it to consume and self-heal.
-
251.
>Yes! Nothing than stop your mom now!
-
252.
>The titanwolf twists its remaining two heads and each one attacks momhorse from different angles.
-
253.
>She dodges the right head with the grace of a dancer, but the left head is too fast!
-
254.
>*THWOMP*
-
255.
>You and your mother are sent flying into a nearby building, crashing through the front window and landing against a table.
-
256.
>"Are-*GASP* Are you alright my little pony?" She asks in a panic.
-
257.
>Thankfully you landed in somethi-erm, somePONY soft.
-
258.
"I'm okay Mommy." You reassure her.
-
259.
>She breathes a sigh of relief and tucks you under her wing.
-
260.
>"This beast must destroyed and quickly, before it wipes out the entire village."
-
261.
>The mare begins channeling all of her magic for one final attack to put this dumb dog down for the count.
-
262.
>It's too late.
-
263.
>The titanwolf pins you both to the ground with its claw and prepares to feast on your flesh with its remaining heads.
-
264.
>Your mother struggles to concentrate on the spell as she's slowly crushed underfoot.
-
265.
>"HRRRK!"
-
266.
>She's rapidly losing strength amongst the sounds of snapping bones and tearing flesh.
-
267.
>You too are feeling the pressure of being squashed against mothermare's body.
-
268.
>"B-Be brave *GASP* my little pony..." Blood begins dripping from her mouth. "This will be *CRUNCH* o-over soon..."
-
269.
>The pain is becoming too much to handle.
-
270.
>"But *HUFF* always remember, M-Mommy loves you...very *NNGH* v-very much-" Her breaths are becoming shorter and more frantic.
-
271.
>You tremble in horror at the sight of her eyes slowly closing.
-
272.
>No, this can't be happening.
-
273.
>You didn't even get to spend one DAY with your new mother.
-
274.
>WHAT KIND OF END TO LIFE IS THIS?!
-
275.
>You feel a warm glow deep inside, one that's burning to be unleashed.
-
276.
"MOMMMEEEEEEEIIIIIIIGGGGGGHHHHHHH!"
-
277.
>Your war cry is followed up with a massive ball of light that consumes the entire area.
-
278.
-
279.
Part IX:
-
280.
>Yay, it worked! Take THAT you evil giant wolf!
-
281.
>The massive monster falls onto its back and begins clawing at its eyes.
-
282.
>Its groans of pain are music to your ears.
-
283.
>Who could've guessed that light was so effective against timberwolves?
-
284.
>Momhorse turns her head and immediately fires a magic beam with all of her might.
-
285.
>"BEGOOOOOOOONE VILE CREATURE!" Her thundering voice almost sounds demonic in nature.
-
286.
>Your eyes practically pop out of their sockets as her beam of radiant light engulfs the monster's entire body.
-
287.
>The massive beast tries to lash out with its claws, but they shatter into splinters before reaching you.
-
288.
"YAY MOMMY!" You shout with delight.
-
289.
>You nuzzle into your mother's neck, encouraging her to stay strong and finish it off.
-
290.
>The titanwolf roars one last time before its entire body slowly disintegrates into nothing.
-
291.
>Everything falls silent, save for a gust of wind rattling the nearby debris.
-
292.
>"At last, it is done-"
-
293.
>Your mother collapses to the ground and gasps for air.
-
294.
>The mare's eyes roll into the back of her head.
-
295.
>Her wings fall limp into the surrounding mix of mud and blood.
-
296.
>The last thing you remember is screaming bloody murder before collapsing beside her.
-
297.
>...
-
298.
>You wake up to a throbbing headache and an ocean of panicked voices coming from every direction.
-
299.
>"Shhh, he's coming to!" One voice exclaims.
-
300.
>"Make way, give the little tyke some air!" Another voice shouts.
-
301.
>Your eyes slowly open, revealing a white tent full of ponies in surgical gowns.
-
302.
>In the back of the crowd stands princess motherhorse, who quickly makes her way to the foot of your bed.
-
303.
>"Oh thank heavens you're alright!"
-
304.
>Tears trickle down the sides of her cheeks.
-
305.
"M-Mommy?" You clutch your head in pain. "What *OW* h-happened?"
-
306.
>The mare smiles and picks you up with her magic.
-
307.
>"You saved me-neigh, the ENTIRE VILLAGE from that terrible timberwolf!"
-
308.
>She affectionately plants kisses all over your face, and you respond with an adorable whinny in return.
-
309.
"You were very brave, my sunshine." She smiles warmly. "Foolish, but brave."
-
310.
>Suddenly a royal trumpet sounds off near the tent entrance.
-
311.
>"Captain Iron Hoof has arrived, your majesty!" A squire announces from the tent flap.
-
312.
>The captain scrambles into the room with a somber expression upon his battle-scarred face.
-
313.
>"P-Princess Celestia, please forgive my earlier displays of cowardice."
-
314.
>The stalwart stallion bows with helmet in hoof, fighting back tears as he awaits your mother's response.
-
315.
>"It was wrong of me to abandon ponies in need, regardless of the circumstances!"
-
316.
>Your mother gently holds you to her chest and turns to face her subordinate with a stoic demeanor.
-
317.
-
318.
Part X:
-
319.
>The poor stallion continues to grovel, but Momlestia raises a hoof to silence him.
-
320.
>"Please calm yourself, Captain."
-
321.
>Iron Hoof immediately ceases his blubbering and stands at attention.
-
322.
>"Such a monstrosity would strike fear into the heart of ANYpony who witnessed it." She continues.
-
323.
>The magnificent matriarch gently rocks you in her forearm.
-
324.
>Memories of last night's event come flooding back.
-
325.
>A village.
-
326.
>A forest.
-
327.
>A pack of timberwolves.
-
328.
>Blood.
-
329.
>Death.
-
330.
>Destruction.
-
331.
>By far the worst memory was that of your mother clutching you tightly, her eyes full of fear as the titanwolf slowly crushed her broken body.
-
332.
"Were you afraid too, Mommy?" You peep.
-
333.
>Her eyes widen before settling upon you.
-
334.
>"Yes, my sunshine." She nuzzles you. "Even princesses can feel fear from time to time."
-
335.
>The crowd responds with a heartfelt "DAWWWWW" while your mother blushes with embarrassment.
-
336.
>"There will be plenty of time for adoring my son later, but right now we need to focus our efforts on rebuilding."
-
337.
>Her subjects begin to bow respectfully but stop themselves short.
-
338.
>"SON?!" They cry out in unison.
-
339.
>Oh right, she only adopted you earlier tonight.
-
340.
>Momlestia never had the chance to tell anypony thanks to the damn timberwolf invasion.
-
341.
>The ponies drop their tools and excitedly talk amongst themselves about "the new prince", much to your mother's dismay.
-
342.
>"ENOUGH!" The princess shouts in her scary demon voice. "YOU ARE DISMISSED!"
-
343.
>Everypony scrambles out of the tent until only you, Momlestia, and Commander Iron Heart remain.
-
344.
>The stallion bravely stands at attention like nothing happened.
-
345.
>It looks like this isn't his first time experiencing her royal shouts.
-
346.
>Your mother yawns and rubs her eyes with her free hoof.
-
347.
>"We'll discuss this tomorrow, Captain." She motions towards the exit. "You may return to your post."
-
348.
>"As you wish, your highness." Commander Iron Heart bows and leaves the tent.
-
349.
>Soon you hear the sounds of many hooves galloping around the village.
-
350.
>Geez, is there no rest for the weary in this strange land?
-
351.
-
352.
Part XI:
-
353.
>You jump down from the princess' embrace and look outside the tent flap.
-
354.
>The Commander haphazardly trots from street to street, barking all manner of orders to his troops.
-
355.
>"Bring food to the shelters!"
-
356.
>"Place more barricades around the perimeter!"
-
357.
>"Round up the wounded and send them to the closest medical tent!"
-
358.
>"And most importantly, bury the dead as quick as you can, lest the smell of their festering corpses attract more timberwolves!"
-
359.
>You see the bags under his eyes and the wobble in his steps.
-
360.
>That poor guy looks like he's ready to collapse on the spot!
-
361.
>"Please don't worry about the Commander, my sunshine."
-
362.
>Motherhorse nuzzles you from behind, as if to assuage your concerns.
-
363.
>"Our kingdom suffered a terrible onslaught today, so we need all hooves on deck to protect those who remain."
-
364.
>Wait, how did she know you were concerned?!
-
365.
>"Our royal guards will all enjoy a good long rest, as soon as the final preparations are completed."
-
366.
"Good to know-*YAWN*"
-
367.
>Your eyelids become heavy, your hooves feel like jello, and your mind is slowly losing focus.
-
368.
>Oh no, the adrenaline from your near-death experience is wearing off!
-
369.
>"Mmhmhm~!" She laughs. "It sounds like somepony ELSE is ready for bed!"
-
370.
"But Mommy, *more yawning* I'm not-!"
-
371.
>You begin to protest, but she scoops your tired body up in her hooves and takes to the sky once more.
-
372.
>"No 'buts', young stallion!" She playfully scolds you.
-
373.
>She soon reaches a familiar balcony and trots through the gossamer curtains leading to her bedchambers.
-
374.
>"Young foals need rest as well, even more so than grownups."
-
375.
>After a quick bathroom break, she gently places you on the bed and removes her royal garments.
-
376.
>You can't help but roll around on the soft blankets, excited for the comfortable sleep they'll soon bring.
-
377.
>"Would you like me to read you a story before bed?"
-
378.
"Not tonight, I'm too tired." You proclaim with a small yawn.
-
379.
>"Very well, perhaps another time then."
-
380.
>She climbs into bed and pulls up the blanket, covering both of you in a warm layer of fine silk.
-
381.
>"Goodnight, my sunshine." She coos.
-
382.
"Goodnight, Mommy." You settle into the sheets.
-
383.
>"Oh! I almost forgot." Momhorse leans in close. "What is your name, little one?"
-
384.
>Your sleepy eyes meet hers and you smile one last time.
-
385.
"Anonymous." You groggily answer. "But everypony *tired noises* calls me Anon..."
-
386.
>"Anonymous? What a handsome name-" She snuggles into you with a yawn of her own. "-for a handsome little colt..."
-
387.
>You snuggle into her warm chest and soon drift off to sleepyland.
-
388.
-
389.
Part XII:
-
390.
>The sun is shining brightly on an open meadow behind the castle.
-
391.
>You, your mother, and an entourage of royal guard ponies set up a small perimeter around the site.
-
392.
>Momhorse conjures up a large red-checkered blanket and places it on the grass.
-
393.
>Several baskets full of food and drink appear out of nowhere and sit neatly upon the blanket.
-
394.
>You hungrily eye up the picnic spread and lick your lips.
-
395.
"Wow, this all looks so yummy, Mommy!"
-
396.
>You happily whinny and hop around like a silly wind-up toy.
-
397.
>Momlestia chuckles at your shenanigans and seats herself on the blanket.
-
398.
>She quickly places a hay sandwich, potato wedges, and glass of milk in front of you.
-
399.
>You grab the sandwich and chomp down with the hunger of a thousand foals.
-
400.
>Motherhorse digs into a nearby picnic basket and retrieves....a stick?
-
401.
>You put down your sandwich and stare at her strange food of choice.
-
402.
"Mommy?" You ask hesitantly.
-
403.
>"Yes, my sunshine?"
-
404.
>She turns to face you, smiling as though nothing was amiss.
-
405.
>You swallow your food and try to ignore the bad feeling that's creeping its way into your gut.
-
406.
"What's that?"
-
407.
>You cock your head in confusion and point a hoof at the large piece of wood on her plate.
-
408.
>"That would be my lunch, Anon." She snorts.
-
409.
>You physically recoil at the lack of love in her words.
-
410.
>What's going on?
-
411.
>Mommy sounds so mean, and why is she eating wood for lunch?!
-
412.
>Something is VERY wrong here, but any sort of logical explanation fails to reveal itself.
-
413.
>"Nona, em evas uoy t'ndid yhw?"
-
414.
>The mare closes her eyes and takes a big bite out of the stick.
-
415.
>Small trails of blood flow from the mare's eyelids.
-
416.
>She takes another bite, with much more force than the last.
-
417.
>The stick punctures her snout, but she pays no mind to it and continues to eat.
-
418.
>You scramble away from your mother and try to call for help.
-
419.
"Guards! Guards! Something's wrong with Mom-"
-
420.
>Your words die in your throat.
-
421.
-
422.
Part XIII:
-
423.
>The guards rot away where they stand until bone and armor are all that remain.
-
424.
>Suddenly storm clouds approach from every direction, bathing the entire region in a cold empty darkness.
-
425.
>"WhY DiDN't YoU SaVE uS, YoUnG PRiNcE?!" They shout in a haunting monotone.
-
426.
>Their hollow voices float along the wind, echoing into a black void that's quickly swallowing up the land.
-
427.
>Chills run down your little green spine.
-
428.
>Your teeth chatter loudly.
-
429.
>Your heart feels like it's going to explode.
-
430.
>WHAT THE BUCK IS HAPPENING?!
-
431.
>You're in full crybaby mode now, but nopony answers your distressed cries.
-
432.
>Why isn't Mommy coming to comfort you? She always does!
-
433.
>You turn toward motherhorse and scream.
-
434.
>The ground around her erupts as a large monster emerges from its depths.
-
435.
>It towers over everypony and everything like some kind of giant.
-
436.
>Three large canine heads lean down and glare at you with large glowing yellow eyes.
-
437.
"No, it can't be..."
-
438.
>How did the titanwolf come back?!
-
439.
>You saw momhorse zap it into matchwood last night!
-
440.
>The creature snarls and turns its attention to Momlestia.
-
441.
"Mommy look out!" You cry.
-
442.
>She doesn't budge an inch, but simply glares at you as though YOU were the problem.
-
443.
>"I am GRAVELY disappointed in you, Anon."
-
444.
>*CHOMP*
-
445.
>"Had I known you were this wothless, I would've left you in the forest."
-
446.
>The titanwolf grabs her delicate white body and hoists it into the air.
-
447.
>"You couldn't save me or anypony else from this monster."
-
448.
>You watch in shock as the titanwolf tears your mother apart and quickly gobbles her up.
-
449.
>A bloody crown falls from the creature's jaws and lands at your hooves.
-
450.
"MOMMEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!"
-
451.
>You close your eyes thrash around in the darkness, desperate to get away from the horrifying scene.
-
452.
>"A-n-o-n-"
-
453.
>Momhorse's voice bleeds out from the belly of the beast.
-
454.
>You plug your ears and neigh like a lunatic.
-
455.
>PLEASE, SOMEPONY, MAKE IT STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!
-
456.
-
457.
Part XIV:
-
458.
>"Anon?!"
-
459.
>Your mother's voice calls out to you from the void.
-
460.
>"Anon! What's wrong, sweetie?!"
-
461.
>Two hooves gently wrap around you.
-
462.
>Your eyes shoot open, revealing a familiar-looking room shrouded in darkness.
-
463.
>"A-Anon!"
-
464.
>Momhorse casts a small light spell and gently shakes your quivering body.
-
465.
>"Please, speak to me!"
-
466.
>Your ear perks up at the sound of love and concern permeating her words.
-
467.
"M-M-Mmmmm-mmmm-mmmmm-!"
-
468.
>You roll to the side until you're looking into momhorse's eyes in the light of her horn.
-
469.
>"Did you have a bad dream, my sunshine?" She smiles.
-
470.
>That does it, THAT BUCKING DOES IT.
-
471.
"MOMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
-
472.
>You squirm over and neigh into her chest.
-
473.
>She responds by gently stroking your back.
-
474.
>"ShhShhShh...it's alright, my sunshine." She coos.
-
475.
>Oh no, you're sobbing AND hyperventilating now!
-
476.
>Please don't let this be another nightmare.
-
477.
>PLEASE.
-
478.
>PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEPLEASEASEPLEASEPLEASE-
-
479.
>"It was just a bad dream, that's all."
-
480.
>She plants delicate kisses all over your face.
-
481.
>"You're safe now, sweetie. I promise."
-
482.
>After what felt like hours, you finally manage to calm down.
-
483.
>You have to make sure THIS is real, but how.
-
484.
>Without thinking, you bite your right foreleg good and hard.
-
485.
"OUCH!"
-
486.
>The bite mark yields a small trickle of blood.
-
487.
>Not a dream, definitely not a dream!
-
488.
>You look up at her and sniffle while wiping the tears from your eyes.
-
489.
>Momlestia's radiant smile puts you at ease, but it's hard to ignore the fear hiding just beyond her eyes.
-
490.
>"Are you alright now, my sunshine?"
-
491.
>You snuggle into her for dear life and whimper.
-
492.
"Y-Yes Mommy."
-
493.
>You take a deep breath and try to calm these frazzled nerves.
-
494.
-
495.
Part XV:
-
496.
>"I'm glad to hear that."
-
497.
>She plants another kiss on your forehead, earning a small giggle out of you for her efforts.
-
498.
>"Now please, tell Mommy what happened."
-
499.
>She tries to coax a response out of you with more tender cuddles and headpats.
-
500.
>AND IT WORKS!
-
501.
"W-Well, you see-"
-
502.
>It's hard to organize one's thoughts among all this fear and trauma.
-
503.
>Come on Anon, pull yourself together!
-
504.
>MaternalMonarch needs to know what happened!
-
505.
>With a shaky voice, you explain the nightmare to her in excruciating detail.
-
506.
>The picnic.
-
507.
>The storm clouds.
-
508.
>The rotting guards.
-
509.
>THE TITANWOLF!
-
510.
>Princess Mom listens in silence, her face gradually shifting from one of tenderness to one of pure shock.
-
511.
"And the very worst part *sniff* w-was when the wolf gobbled you up right in front of me!"
-
512.
>The princess places a hoof over her mouth and gasps.
-
513.
"I couldn't save you Mommy!"
-
514.
>You begin trembling all over as the tears begin flowing once again.
-
515.
>"Oh you poor, POOR thing~!"
-
516.
>She snuggles you back into her soft body.
-
517.
"Your last words were *hic* something about me being useless and how *SNIFF* you should've left me in the woods..."
-
518.
>The lack of response from momhorse compounds your distress even further.
-
519.
"I'm so sorry, I wasn't able to help you or the poor guard ponies."
-
520.
>More silence.
-
521.
>Perhaps she really DOES think you're useless...
-
522.
>"Anon, look at me."
-
523.
>You stare into her glowing purple eyes and whimper.
-
524.
>"Regardless of the circumstances, I will never, EVER speak to you in such a foul manner."
-
525.
>She hugs you close and sighs.
-
526.
>"You are a good little colt, and I love you with all my heart."
