  3. >>"Pants? Oh puh-lease! The Great and Powerful Trixie needs no pants, only her burning passion!"
  4. >She says with a confident look before shivering and blushing and then looking down at the pavement covered in snow
  5. >Her face warps into an almost childlike expression of discomfort before she shakes her head and looks back up at you, her face now confident, with a hint of distress
  6. >"Though Trixie thinks it isn't a bad idea to go somewhere more... fitting for her fiery passion!"
  7. >She thinks for a moment before shivering again
  8. >"Do you have money on you?" She asks, looking at you with guilty puppy eyes
  9. >She's done this every winter since you met her
  10. >And recently you haven't been feeling up to the task of dealing with her borderline autist-adjacent behaviors
  11. >You pull out a crisp 20 and run it past her face
  12. "Why don't you get a job? If you're so cold, why don't you get a job?"
  13. >She rolls her eyes at you
  14. >"Trixie's job is seasonal" she says, blushing and looking away
  15. "You say that every year, but I've never seen you working." You joke
  16. >"Trixie keeps her work separate from her personal life" she confidently states, before shivering again
  17. >"The holidays drain all of Trixie's moolah and she cannot afford to spend money on fruitless investments" Trixie explains, more confident than before
  18. "Like pants?" You smugly say
  19. >"No. Like hot chocolate that YOU shall be purchasing" she points at you and shivers again
  20.
  21. >You roll your eyes back at her
  22. "You say that everything is a 'fruitless investment' whenever we hang out though. Am I a fruitless investment opportunity lender to you? You probably got some money laying around somewhere, right?"
  23. >Trixie shakes her head
  24. >"As I told you, the holidays can be rough for someone even as great as Trixie." She raises her chin and smugly flatters herself
  25. "The Cheap and Bankrupt Trixie strikes again" you sigh
  26. >"Plus..." Trixie starts, looking down and away
  27. >before immediately stopping
  28. >She blushes and shivers before looking back up at you, a lot less cocky than she was previously
  29. >"N-nevermind. The cold might be starting affect Trixie somewhat. We should go." Trixie shivers again before beginning to walk away from you
  30. >You follow behind before catching up and walking beside her
  31. "Same place as last year?"
  32. >Trixie nods
  33. "Same order as last year?"
  34. >Trixie stops walking and puts a finger to her chin before looking up and thinking
  35. >She turns to face you with a stoic but thoughtful face
  36. >"We shall see." She says as she starts walking again
  37. >She also does that every year
  38. >Maybe it's because of the winter air
  39. >Or maybe it's the holiday season
  40. >Where people come together and show off the best of themselves to others
  41. >Or the worst parts of themselves
  42. >Sometimes intentionally
  43. >Getting out of your head, you continue walking and catch up to Trixie and follow beside her for a few minutes
  44. >"... Anon?" Trixie breaks the silence
  45.
  46. "Yeah?"
  47. >"Trixie doesn't really bother you with her boy problems, does she?" She looks at you with an inquisitive and awkward face, putting a finger to her chin
  48. "Not really. I always figured you weren't interested in anyone like that."
  49. >Her inquisitive face doesn’t fade, but you notice her eyebrow twitch a little, and her hand drops to her side abruptly
  50. >"You're partially correct. Anyway, Trixie also notices you never talk to her about your girl problems... or... boy problems?" Trixie stumbles through her words before blushing
  51. "Uh, well, if I did have relationship problems, it'd only really be with a woman. I'm not..."
  52. >You blush
  53. >It's a stupid question of her to ask, and an even stupider question for you to answer
  54. >You clear your throat
  55. >Trixie blushes and turns away from you
  56. >"B-but if you did, would you come to her for advice?" Trixie asks, not looking at you
  57. >You think for a few seconds
  58. "I don't see why not. You're pretty much the only girl I know. Though I don't know if your advice would be reliable."
  59. >Trixie scoffs and looks at you
  60. >"As a woman, Trixie obviously knows what women like" Trixie says, flattering herself with her posture
  61. "Yeah, but you aren't any regular woman. So I don't know if you can speak for them"
  62. >Trixie is visibly getting more annoyed
  63. >"What's THAT supposed to mean?" Trixie says in an accusatory tone
  64. "Well, you know, I mean, you're uh..."
  65. >Your mind races for the right words
  66. "Special... to me"
  67. >Trixie's face goes red and her annoyed look warps into that of conflicted...
  68. >Happiness?
  69. >"Y-you are special... as well..." Trixie stutters, half genuine, half snide
  70.
  71. >You're not sure if she understood what you meant
  72. >But regardless, both of you are blushing
  73. "You know, I meant like, special as in... possibly autistic and not really that feminine outside of your appearance"
  74. >Trixie rolls her eyes
  75. >"Just learn to let a woman take what you say as a compliment, anon. Even if you didn’t mean to give them one." She snaps at you and turns away
  76. >Ouch
  77. >What’s her problem?
  78. >You both continue in silence for about 10 minutes until you arrive at your destination
  79. >The destination being a flat brown coffee shop whose name is surprisingly relevant to the situation
  80. >It's cool beans
  81. >There are about 2 other shops closer to where you were at previously but Trixie likes this one because the name is funny
  82. >Lucky for you it's cheap and actually pretty good, so her autism doesn’t impact your enjoyment
  83. >You approach the door first and open it for Trixie
  84. >Trixie by this point is shivering pretty badly
  85. >"Such a gentleman. Sometimes..." Trixie half-jokes before entering the coffee shop
  86. >You follow behind her
  87. >"Ahhh... finally. Trixie is finally able to rest her weary, cold legs in this humble establishment" she announces a bit too loudly
  88. >You roll your eyes
  89. >She does that every time she enters a building from the outdoors if its hot or cold
  90. >She steps in line and you follow behind her before getting next to her
  91. >Surprisingly enough the line is a bit lengthy, even for a day like today
  92. >Especially since this place usually isn’t that busy most days
  93. >You both wait in line for a few seconds before Trixie turns to you and says
  94. >"Trixie would like to... thank you for bringing her here. For paying for her as well. And not just this time, but every time... Trixie would love to pay for herself, but it's just hard to help provide for your family while trying to balance school and-"
  95. "Don't sweat it. It's really no big deal. You don't have lavish taste anyway. I rarely fork over more than 15 bucks for you."
  96. >She smiles
  97. >"It means a lot to Trixie..." Trixie says before she blushes and faces the line in front of her
  98.
  99. >Slowly but surely the line shrinks until you two are next
  100. >Trixie orders
  101. >"A hot chocolate with some cinnamon, please. Make it a little extra sweet too. However you do that." She tells the person at the register
  102. >You try your hardest not to show any reaction to her order
  103. >You honestly don't even know how they're able to get her order done
  104. >You fail and a smug grin gets plastered on your face
  105. >Trixie starts
  106. >"Your turn an-" she turns to see your snide grin
  107. >She rolls her eyes
  108. >"Trixie's order is very specific and effective in producing consistent and quality results!!!" She snaps at you
  109. >You cant stop grinning
  110. >On the verge of laughter you say
  111. "Yeah... alright..."
  112. >Before ordering for yourself
  113. >After ordering, you pay
  114. >For both of you its like 8 bucks
  115. >Really not that bad
  116. >You both sit down at a table and wait for your hot refreshments
  117. >In the meantime, Trixie attempts to talk to you again
  118. >Though, her demeanor is noticeably different
  119. >Less laid back then before
  120. >And definitely less uptight
  121. >She seems more meek and shy
  122. >"So... anon." She says with some hesitation
  123. "Yeah?"
  124. >"We've known eachother for a while, right?" She asks, looking at you, but not directly, blushing
  125. "Yeah."
  126. >Oh dear lord
  127. >You know exactly what's about to happen
  128. >Alright. This is happening
  129. >Trixie looks down and exhales sharply
  130. >"If it's not... if you... uhm... I-" she cuts herself off
  131. >She's starting to breathe faster, and her face is getting redder
  132. >She looks down and whispers to herself
  133.
  134. >"You got this Trixie you got this" several times
  135. >She looks up at you
  136. >Her eyes are fired up and filled with determination
  137. >You look into her eyes
  138. >And her determination fades into anxiety again
  139. >"Tr-Trixie a-and anon... you... uh..." she stops again
  140. >She looks like she's about to start tearing up
  141. >You shoot her a glance of worry before asking her
  142. "Are you ok? You don't have to worry about it so much. I think I know what you're going to say anyway."
  143. >Trixie jolts back, tears still forming in her eyes
  144. >She quickly enters a defensive posture, her eyes still on the verge of tears
  145. >"Ahahaha. No. You couldn't possibly know what the elusive and enigmatic Trixie was going to say. After all you-"
  146. "You were going to try and ask me ou-"
  147. >"Shh nope nope wrong errrrrr incorrect" Trixie speaks over you, waving her arms about.
  148. >Her tears beginning to fully form and her eyes are now significantly glossier than they were before
  149. >Trixie stares at you with a pained, saddened look
  150. >"Please just... just... I... it wasn't supposed to be like this..." Trixie looks down, dejected
  151. >A tear falls from her right eye
  152. >And then another from her left
  153. >Before she lets out a quick, quiet cry that she quickly tames
  154. >She covers her face with her hands and puts her elbows on the table
  155. >You hear a few stifled sniffles and breaths
  156. >And almost as if your life was a sitcom, your order was ready
  157. "Uh... I'm gonna go get our order... ok?"
  158.
  159. >Trixie sobs again and looks away and rubs her eyes as she nods
  160. >You walk up to the counter and get your ordered items
  161. >You notice the barista is looking at you all funny
  162. >You shoot back with a nervous smile and quickly return to your table
  163. >When you get there, Trixie is still sobbing, but much less intensely than before
  164. >It's really just the sniffles now
  165. >She still has her hands on her face though
  166. "Trixie?"
  167. >She lets out a sad groan, muffled by her sweater
  168. >And then she removes her hands from her face
  169. >Through her glossy, still slighly tear-filled eyes, she smiles weakly
  170. >"Y-yes?"
  171. >You put her hot chocolate in front of her before taking your seat at the table
  172. >Trixie meekly grabs it and takes a sip
  173. >She sniffles a little before declaring
  174. >"This place is the best..." quietly but confidently
  175. >You take a few sips of you drink
  176. "Yeah. Its pretty good."
  177. >You always have that exchange every year too
  178. >Minutes pass in silence
  179. >Before Trixie exhales sharply and starts
  180. >"Anon... I just... you mean a lot to me... believe it not, most people find Trixie annoying..." Trixie hangs her head
  181. >You smile
  182. >You can't imagine why
  183. >But it'd be rude to say that out loud
  184. >Trixie continues
  185. >"But you... you don't seem to mind. Do you?" Trixie looks back up at you, giving you puppy dog eyes
  186. >You think for a moment, losing your smile
  187.
  188. >Her face is serious, and her posture is confident, although you can sense some fear in her
  189. >After all these years you can't say you've ever been annoyed
  190. >There were times you've wished she was quieter
  191. >Or that she'd just say what she actually thinks
  192. >But it was never really with irritation
  193. >You look at Trixie and confidently answer
  194. "Not really, no."
  195. >Trixie's face goes red and she sighs in relief
  196. >Her eyes dart around and she looks all over the place
  197. >Before her eyes land sharply on you and she says
  198. >"I- I- I-... I can't hide it anymore anon... I can't."
  199. >Her face warps into an almost painfully big, bordering on psychotic smile
  200. >"I love you, Anon. I'm so insanely in love with you. I think about you all the time. I want to be with you forever. I- I don't care if I sound crazy, I just want you with me forever and... and..." she catches herself
  201. >She pauses and her smile and confidence turns into anxiety and fear
  202. >"I'm sorry. I didn't mean- well, I did, but I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable I-"
  203. >You smile again and whisper
  204. "Hot"
  205. >Trixie stops
  206. >"W-what was that? Trixie couldn't hear you" Trixie asks you
  207. >She's staring at you with fearful daggers in her eyes
  208. "It's really ok, Trixie."
  209. >All of a sudden you find yourself blushing and nervous yourself
  210. >How did this little autist say so much?
  211. "I... wouldn't mind going out with you."
  212. >You look away
  213. >This love stuff is no joke
  214. >Trixie is silent
  215. >After what felt for like forever, you look back at Trixie
  216. >She's looking at her cup, her eyes wide and her mouth in a neutral closed position
  217. >She looks like she's been reprogrammed or something
  218. >You take a sip of your drink while looking at her
  219. >Should you say something?
  220. >You should probably say something
  221.
  222. "Uh... Trixie?"
  223. >You wave your hand in front of her face
  224. >She snaps out of it and looks at you before blushing
  225. >"Oh I'm sorry I was just... uhm... I'm not going to lie... I was fantasizing about us" She confesses, averting her gaze
  226. >That could mean a lot of things
  227. >You blush too
  228. "W-what about us?"
  229. >Trixie wears a warm smile on her face
  230. >"U-us going on dates... h-holding hands... kissing... getting married and being together forever... and getting more hot chocolate with you in the future..." she smiles at you with a warmth that you can't resist
  231. >You blush
  232. "That's... nice..."
  233. >She dotingly giggles and starts running a finger on the table
  234. >"S-so what now...?" She asks
  235. "I don't know... this has never happened to me before."
  236. >"Well... T-trixie's never been in a relationship before..." She nervously states
  237. >You both awkwardly look around and sometimes your eyes meet
  238. >When they do, you both blush and look away again
  239. >This happens for awhile before Trixie confidently and smugly looks at you
  240. >"C-couples kiss... do you want to...?" Trixie averts her gaze and blushes, looking as if she'd said something wrong
  241. "S-sure... yeah."
  242. >"O-ok..." Trixie moves in for a kiss over the table
  243. >So do you
  244. >Trixie closes her eyes as her puckered lips approach yours
  245. >However, you don't do the same
  246. >You pucker your lips
  247. >Right before your lips touch, you feel an impact on your nose
  248. >Trixie makes a noise as she flinches back a bit from the impact on her nose
  249. >Both of your noses hit eachother
  250. >You both sit down and look at eachother awkwardly
  251. >"Ahah well... uh, we tried... we'll practice doing it p-properly later..." Trixie says as she rubs her arm with the opposite hand, looking down
  252. "Yeah... sorry."
  253. >"It's ok... we'll kiss a lot more soon... right?" She asks, looking back up at you
  254. "Of course."
  255. >Trixie smiles
  256. >"I really, really, really, really, rea-"
  257. >You motion for her to move on
  258. >"Hehe... I really love you, anon." She beams
  259. "I know. I l-love you... too"
  260. >You hate how that made you blush
  261. >Trixie giggles and her smile shakes and tears form in her eyes
  262. >"I-it feels like Trixie's waited forever to hear those words come from you..."
  263. >Now's your chance to maybe start taking the lead
  264. "K-kept you waiting, huh?"
  265. >Nailed it
  266. >Trixie smiles and giggles before blushing
  267. >"You sure did... b-but hopefully, it was worth the wait..."
  268. >She pauses and averts her gaze before her eyes return to yours
  269. >"Thanks... and have fun."
